OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: TUESDAY 11TH JANUARY 2022. THEME: THE BLESSINGS OF COMMITMENT. MEMORISE: My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt. Daniel 6:22 READ: Daniel 6:1-22 1It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom; 2 And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage. 3 Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm. 4 Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. 5 Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God. 6 Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever. 7 All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions. 8 Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not. 9 Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree. 10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. 11 Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God. 12 Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not. 13 Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day. 14 Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him. 15 Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed. 16 Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee. 17 And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel. 18 Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him. 19 Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions. 20 And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions? 21 Then said Daniel unto the king, O kin |
OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. DATE: FRIDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER, 2020. THEME: THE POWER OF DEDICATION. MEMORISE " If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. (2nd Timothy 2:2) READ: 2nd Timothy 2:19-21 (KJV) 19.Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 20. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21.If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. MESSAGE: “…Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s” (Matthew 22:2) So many people take dedication for granted and this is because they don’t understand the power behind it. When you dedicate an object, it becomes the possession and responsibility of who it is dedicated to. This is why you must dedicate your children or property to God alone. It could be very risky to wait several years before handing your children over to God. It doesn’t necessarily require a party; you could just take them to Church and let the Pastor dedicate them officially. If you have to, you can celebrate later. I met a woman who had three daughters with the youngest approaching age thirty, yet none of them was in a relationship, let alone marriage. I was about to pray when the Lord urged me to ask her certain questions. She eventually confessed that all three daughters had been dedicated to Ifa (A West African deity) when they were born, claiming it was to protect them from witches and wizards. We broke the hold of lfa and rededicated the ladies to God. That same year, all three got married. Some marriages remain fruitless because someone poured libation during the traditional wedding ceremony. This is why we advocate that the Church wedding must be done after the traditional, so any such strange spirit that may have been invited into the union, whether with or without the knowledge of the couple can be expelled. Some businesses have been possessed by one demon or the other because a ‘well-wisher’ invoked a contrary spirit at the opening ceremony. You must never allow such. There is nothing the devil is involved in that ever ends well. From now, dedicate everything that is yours to God. ACTION POINT: Mention and/or touch everything that is of value to you and dedicate it to the Most High God now. AUTHOR: Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. BIBLE READING IN ONE YEAR: EZEKIEL 28-31 HYMN 12: I AM THINE O LORD. 1. I am Thine O Lord I have heard Thy voice And it told Thy love to me But I long to rise in the arms of faith And be closer drawn to Thee. CHORUS: Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, To the cross where Thou hast died; Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord To Thy precious, bleeding side. 2. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord By the pow’r of grace divine Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope And my will be lost in Thine. 3. Oh, the pure delight of a single hour That before Thy throne I spend When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God I commune as friend with friend. 4. There are depths of love that I cannot know Till I cross the narrow sea There are heights of joy that I may not reach Till I rest in peace with Thee. |
OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. DATE: THURSDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER, 2020. THEME: THE ACCEPTABLE OFFERING. MEMORIZE: The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight. Proverbs 15:8 BIBLE READING: GENESIS 4:3-5 3. And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. 4. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: 5. But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. MESSAGE: It is only a beggar who would not consider the status of whoever is giving him/her gifts; he/she just collects alms from whoever, whenever. God is not a beggar. He accepts gifts only from His children and rejects the proceeds of cheating, embezzlement and the like. The fact that money lands in the offering bag or Church account does not mean it has been accepted by God. “And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect” Genesis 4:4-5 Note the sequence in the verse above: the names appeared before the offering. This means that the acceptance of the offering depends on the giver, if God accepts your offering, He has accepted you. Some people have complained of stagnation despite being faithful in the payment of their tithes and offerings. This might be because God has not accepted them. If He hasn’t, He cannot accept their offering. In 2 Corinthians 8:1-5, Paul asked the Macedonian Church to give themselves to God first before giving to the man of God. That is the only acceptable offering one that is offered after the giver has given his life to Christ. So, before your next offering, ask yourself: Am I a genuine child of God?. It is a terrible thing for God to reject an offering; because it means He has rejected the giver. Cain, out of envy, killed his brother because of this. A long time ago, the RCCG was in dire need of a new sound system and a rich man donated the latest model to the Church. While I was still rejoicing about this, I heard God say Tell him to take the gift back; I don’t want it. The man left in sorrow knowing God had rejected him. May God never reject you and your offering in the mighty name of Jesus. For that prayer to be answered, you must ensure you are in right standing with Him, living a holy life. KEY POINT: God only accepts the offering of those who are His children. AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A ADEBOYE GENERAL OVERSEER OF THE REDEEMED CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF GOD. BIBLE READING IN ONE YEAR: EZEKIEL 24:1-27, EZEKIEL 25:1-17, EZEKIEL 26:1-21, EZEKIEL 27:1-36 HYMN 4: BLESSED ASSURANCE, JESUS IS MINE. 1. Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood. This is my story, this is my song, CHORUS Praising my Saviour all the day long. This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Saviour all the day long. 2. Perfect submission, perfect delight, Visions of rapture now burst on my sight; Angels descending, bring from above Echoes of mercy, whispers of love. 3. Perfect submission, all is at rest, l in my Savior am happy and blest; Watching and waiting, looking above, Fill’d with His goodness, lost in His love. |
AsawanaDgreat:Those escaped Chinese guys must have quickly gone to install something harmful somewhere before they return back to join the other crew members. Corona virus can be concealed in a container and released into the air where people live or pass by. Why did they escape in the night and quickly returned back. I don't trust these people. Any plot to increase the rate of covid-19 in Lagos and Nigeria will fail. We wait and see. We are a praying nation and our prayers have always worked for us. We shall overcome corona virus in Jesus name. |

(Credit - Arogbonlo Israel) Summer break always goes by too fast! You will need conscious and adequate efforts to be able to plan your schedules well before setting out for another academic session. Here are 10 things you need to do before heading back for the first day. 1. *Map out your schedules now* The beginning of the school year is always busy, and demands well mapped schedules to stay focus. There are so many meetings and events. It’s hard to remember when everything is happening. That’s why it is deemed fit to fill out your calendar over the summer. Go to your diary and write all the important things you need to do. Also add other family activities to your calendar. For example, your outings, meetings and extra moral classes. Doing so, will make your schedules less cumbersome as this gives you a picture of what to do for each day. 2. *Start adjusting your sleep schedule* Summer means sleeping in until 9 and staying up until 11. It’s a shock to your body when you suddenly have to crawl out of bed at 6 on the first day of school. That’s why you should gradually get up and go to bed a little bit earlier. That way, by the first day of school, you’ll be ready for your new schedule. Remember work without play makes Jack a dull boy. However, in this case, it means you should compliment your work with adequate sleep. 3. *Prepare some freezer meals* The first week of school is exhausting! The last thing you’re going to want to do when you get home is, make dinner. Luckily, you can use some time now to prepare meals. Freezer meals are a great way to prepare to go back to school. Ensure you take balanced diet to stimulate your body anatomy before resumption. 4. *Stock up on snacks and foods for lunches* Get a lunch pack and a few snacks for yourself and kids each day. You may start buying school snacks ahead of time. That way, you can just grab a few things in the morning and get out the door. These are some of the favorite snacks you may consider as favourites: Goldfish Veggies (carrots, broccoli, celery) Fruits (oranges, apples, fruit cups) Meat pie Cubed Cheese Doughnut Yogurt Ice cream etc. 5. *Do a bit of school work each day* Everything that needs to be done to go back to school is overwhelming. Plan lessons Organize materials Copy papers Laminate name tags Prepare technology If you do a bit each day, you’ll still be able to enjoy your summer. Plus, you won’t have to do everything at the beginning of the school year. 6. *Go shopping* All summer you’ve been wearing T-shirts and shorts. Now you need some new clothes for teaching. Get together with some friends and plan a shopping trip. Make sure you get a new outfit for the first day of school. 7. *Get your feet used to school shoes again* You must get yourself accustomed to school shoes if only you want to make your first day of school a memorable one. If you try to wear heels on the first day of school, you’ll need to take them off before lunch. Instead, get your feet ready now. Start wearing your dress shoes for short periods of time, like to church or out to dinner. Discover some of the most comfortable shoes for teachers. You can visit online stores such as Jumia, Konga, OLX etc. to order for your favourite shoes. 8. *Pamper yourself* You know the start of the school year is going to be hectic and stressful. There won’t be much time to spend on yourself when you’re trying to meet the learning needs of 25 students and keep the rest of your life in order. Pamper yourself now. Set up a spacial day to have a manicure, pedicure, haircut, and massage. You’ll look and feel great as you meet your new students and start a new school year. 9. *Exercise yourself always to keep fit* You can go to gym houses to get your body fit before your first day of school. This will allow you to be able to burn fat you've gathered during the summer break, and give you a new energy for the days ahead. You may also do some physical exercises like press up, jogging, squatting etc. while at home to keep yourself fit. 10. *Enjoy the last few days of summer with your family* With your ridiculously long to-do list, it’s easy to forget to enjoy yourself. Summer will wrap up quickly, and you’ll have 180 days to do school work. Spend time with your family before summer is over. Plan some day trips and create some amazing memories. Hopefully, all of these ideas will help you de-stress as you prepare for the beginning of the school year. *Happy resumption in advance!*
