I actually built it to hold all manner of local contents in Nigeria. My target is the search engines. I am fiddling with Google, Ask and Yahoo Search. I am building my contents to at least 1million relevant articles. This is the current screenshot of the traffic google search alone sends to the site:

I am monetising using google adsense. Google currently sends about 5,400 unique internet users to the website monthly. This is exactly why Wikipedia is huge. Wikipedia gets over millions of traffic from google search alone.

I am a Sun Java developer. I graduated from NIIT like 7years ago. I have more than 15years following technology and programming.

From my experience, you can't actually separate the two. When you say software development are you talking about Desktop applications because software still live online.

Most of the technologies used on professional websites are software.

From my many years of toiling in the industry,  I think web application development is more commercially productive in Nigeria compared to Desktop application programming.

As a Java programmer, I spent years making little. I was only good as a staff of a software company that was struggling to survive, but when I broaden my knowledge into building applications for Networks (Internet & Intranet), things suddenly changed. There is a huge market currently in Nigeria for individuals who can seamlessly move within desktop programming and Network applications.

For quick gratification, start with web and later expand into core software design.

I just finished developing the beta edition for a gateway website for Nigeria. The website address is www.omavo.com.

What you need to do is store all those data into a session variable when the user logs in. You can then retrieve then whenever you want to print it out to the user.

It looks very much like Nairaland but with a lot of tweaks. I totally coded it myself.

I have been working for about 2months now writing computer codes for a website to help aggregate every information around Nigeria, from news, jobs, dating, classifieds, directories etc.
