Sports5 Things We Learned From Real Madrid Vs Juventus Match [VIDEO] by worlings(op): 9:47am On Apr 12, 2018
On Wednesday the 11th of march, the last match of the quarter final round in the Champions League was decided in the Bernabeu. The game between Los Blancos of Spain vs the Old Lady of Italy ended in a dramatic way and left a lots of football loving fans talking.

Real Madrid went into the match with a 3 – 0, leading advantage, having beaten Juventus in Turin with Ronaldo scoring a fantastic overhead kick. But, things got different in Spain as the Old Lady side was in an unstoppable mission to oust Madrid

Moreover, the Agog team gathered some thoughts about the game, and the following are the 5 things we learn from the match that started peacefully but ended in chaos.

Juventus was a better side than Madrid, they outplayed Los Blancos in the fist half and were unlucky not to have had 2 goals leading advantage in that half as Higuain missed a one on one chance.

From the defence, to midfield to attack, the Old Lady had tremendous composure, the type that stopped Madrid from dominating the game, and each time they had an opportunity to score, it wasn’t a struggle for them to put the ball at the back of the net.

After cancelling the 3 – 0 advantage in Bernabeu, at about 92 minutes, a penalty was conceded. This has been the main subject of the discussion as football enthusiast took to Twitter to share their thoughts over Michael Oliver’s decision. Some people argued that it was a penalty, others said it wasn’t, but, the guys in between said that it was a penalty but the referee could have ignored it. From our view of the foul, by it was a clear penalty. Additionally, it was a red cad tackle too, because Vazquezwas already goal bound, thanks to Ronaldo who jumped so high to nod the ball towards the running in Vazquez that had a bigger opportunity to score.

At the point of awarding the spot kick because of the clumsy tackle by Benatia on Vazquez, Gigi Buffon, the veteran Italian goal keeper who could not control his emotions by a way of protesting against the referee’s decision was sent off. This is his first red card after 117 games, probably his last for the Champions league.
Ronaldo stepped in and converted the spot kick against Wojciech Szczesny who came in to replace Buffon to give Madrid the leading advantage again to oust Juventus. At this time, the remaining added time was not enough for the old lady to do anything meaningful in redeeming themselves.
On the flip side, we comment the effort of the Italian side as they fought like warriors and gave Madrid a good run for their money. We also presume, that if the match could run into penalties, maybe Buffon would have turned the hero for the night by stopping many Madrid spot kicks as the goal stopper of Madrid made horrendous mistake in the second half to hand Juventus the third goal and almost throughout the match, had a poor outing for himself.

Watch below the video of the tackle on Vazquez by Medhi Benatia that decided the fate of the match.

Nairaland GeneralHow Lagos Danfo Drivers & Conductors Keep Lagos Running Round The Clock by worlings(op): 11:59am On Apr 09, 2018
‘Ojota, ojota, ojota, ojota, ojota, Yaba, yaba, yaba, yaba, yaba,

’Ojota, ojota, ojota, ojota, ojota’’, Yaba, yaba, yaba, yaba,’’

‘’Ojulegba, ojulegba, ojulegba’’, ‘’Obalende, obalende, obalende.’’

The above chant by the skinny looking, shabby dressed conductor with an intimidating husky voice, one that can make a baby cry on hearing it, almost made me miss my bus stop to Ojulegba.

Poor me, even with my sharp ears, I could barely figure out which bus was going through my direction, because of the different blaring sounds coming from horn speakers and conductors who were calling different locations (One of my JJC Stories in Lagos). LOL!

It was a Friday morning, the day I had set aside to shoot my shot on the project of documenting how Danfo drivers and Conductors go about their hustle running Lagos round the clock, from sun rise to sun set and into the dawn of a new day.

There we go; the driver speed off as I settled down on the window side at the rear to get a better view of the ambience of Lagos. A quick let out on this was that I noticed Lagos was just so dirty. Well, on how the government was facilitating the 'cleaner Lagos project' and the bitter complaints of lagosians on is a full documentary for another day.

Traffic in Lagos is an inevitable experience to every resident in Eko. You really have not experience Lagos yet if you haven’t encounter the kind of traffic that will make you sleep and wake up still stuck inside traffic-flow. That was my ‘Oyo’case, two hours inside a bus from Bariga in Lagos Mainland through Ojuelegba and finally to Ajah in Island.

As you may know, in Sub-Saharan Africa, there is one city in Nigeria that is touted as the land of possibilities, one flowing with milk and honey.

The city is widely known as the Economic nerve centre of the most populous black nation in Africa―Nigeria.

As a new comer in Lagos, first thing you notice on the overhead bridge at the entrance of Lagos, close to Berger a popular location in Lagos, is a boldly written inscription, ‘This Is Lagos, shine your eyes’.

The narrative behind the inscription is one that resets your brain to factory setting, making you conscious of every fly that dances ‘shaku shaku’ in your ear.

Bottom line is that in Lagos, you must always be on alert, because what you never bargained for might happen, else you get robbed or become a victim of ‘Pick-Pockets or One-Chance.

The city has a public transport bus known as Danfo. Danfo is a passenger bus that operates in Lagos and accommodates approximately 16 – 18 passengers.

They play an essential role in the lives of myriads of Lagosians by transporting them from location to location in the main metropolis.

So, I eventually arrived at my final bustop in Illaje— Ajah, my meeting point with Mr. Musairu who had agreed to share his ten-year experience with me as a Danfo driver, along with his personal conductor, Lukemon.

It was time to reel out questions to Mr. Musairu, but I had to exercise patience for him and his conductor to finish smoking a jumbo size marijuana with a bottle of ‘BabyOku’, a small concoction herbal drink.

Mr. Musairu  and Lukemon were set, after they were done with their smoking and drinking escapades. They walked towards me, hailing and chanting…’’ ‘Oga Journalist, oya make we do am ‘osha pra pra’.

Light, camera, action; Musairu started narrating his story in a cracked voice reddened with white unfiltered marijuana smoke gushing out slowly from his mouth.

‘’Na for Lagos mainland  wey dem born me and na where I grow up.’’

‘’Because my papa and mama no been fit send me go school, I come decide to do this Danfo business wey I dey drive passengers from morning to mid-night and till day break.’’

‘’I don dey involve for this Danfo business for ten years now and I don get plenty experience since I been start.’’

‘’Danfo transportation business na wetin I dey do to take help my family and take pay my children school fees.’’

‘’The kind life wey Danfo driver dey live be say we dey work so tey we no get rest just to make better money’’

‘’On a normal day, we dey wake up by 3am for morning to pick passengers for street wey dey rush to reach their office early.’’

‘’I don dey do this danfo bus business with so much passion and I dey obey the laws wey our union take give us, and I dey also pay my tax.’’

‘’The work wey we dey do, we no dey ever get rest at all, because we dey always dey for road to pick passengers.’’

‘’Sometimes, I dey imagine if danfo drivers no exist, how the middle class people for dey take survive for this Lagos.’’

‘’The fact be say, we the Danfo drivers dey run this Lagos round the clock, whether na for rainy season or dry season.’’

‘’On top 24 hours of the day, danfo drivers no dey sleep reach four hours, because we dey always dey for street dey hustle.’’

‘’Life as a Danfo driver no easy at all, we dey go through ugly experience for road, mad traffic for hours, agbero  seff dey attack us, and sometimes another bus fit jam our own bus.’’

‘’We dey help the life of thousands of people by transporting dem to their various locations every day.’’

‘’Las las, our own na to dey drive our Danfo for this Lagos and dat na like our contribution to the society.’’

Having listened to Mr. Musairu speak passionately about his experience as a danfo driver, I was really impressed by his submission.

He also made mentioned that sometimes; Lagosians treat them like they were nobody. "As you can see my boy Lukemon, na graduate oh! but people dey insult am because of their change, some small girls go talk to am anyhow, dem no no say, the guy go school sef, so na as him no find white collar job, na him come join danfo work".

This narrative sums up the positive routine of hustle these men pull through to put Lagos on the go.

However, he failed to mention their reckless lifestyle of smoking, drinking, patronizing 'Olosho' (popular word used in referring to prostitute in the street of Lagos), not going home to their wives and other activities that some of them who use their vehicles to steal from people on a One-Chance pick up.

I had dedicated my whole day for the documentary, so there was no rush to go back to mainland where I reside with my brother. I called a couple of my friends in Ajah, hunged out with them; because I wanted to go back home late in the night to see how these bus drivers and conductors conduct their activities in the night.

About 11:30pm, I told my friends I was ready to go back to mainland, they resisted me from leaving, stating the dangers involved. But, I insisted that I was on a mission of documenting this reports, and for this reason, they left me to my decision.

I boarded a ‘keke Marwa’ from their estate, headed to Illaje, to get a bus back to mainland. Behold, I met Mr. Musairu and Lukemon again at the park loading passengers. I quickly said hello to them, and they asked me to join the front seat.

"Oga, well-done oh! Una no close" I asked with curiosity written all over my face. He laughed and responded "no be you wey I tell for morning say we no dey sleep for this town, as you can see we still dey road dey hustle". But, he quickly added that this was his last turn. That on getting to Oshodi which will be his final bustop for the turn, he will be heading home.

It was about 11:56pm before we finally left Ajah heading to mainland. These men conducted their night routine with decorum, meekness and peace. From one bustop to another, they made passengers alight, and they also allowed others heading to their location to join them.

I arrived my house at Bariga about 12:45am that morning. The driver was pretty fast, compare to when I was heading to island in the day time where there was enough traffic to keep me for over 2hours on the road.

Like Mr. Musairu, a plethora of other Danfo drivers are daily proving, despite the stress of the hustle, how and why residents of Eko cannot do without them.

Imagine, if they decide to go on a strike for at least a day in Lagos. Well, this will keep Lagos on a stand still. The engine of movement will be on a total shutdown, leading to gnashing of teeth and the agony of trekking for Lagosians. A case similar to when Buhari recently visited Lagos to commission some projects.

On the summary, indeed the Lagos Danfo Drivers and Conductors really do much more than they have been appreciated to keep the city moving round the clock with transporting passengers from location to location within the metropolis.

Brief Description About Her

My name is Mrs. Victoria Justin Okon, I hail from Nsukkara Offot in Akwa Ibom State. As far back in year 2000, I was able to learn how to sew and design bags from my late sister who had a formal training on how to design bags at ‘Ariaria’ market in Aba. I started making bags professionally in 2002 with a sewing machine and I’ve been doing this till today.

Challenges?

So far, the journey has been amazing since I started. My major challenge has been how to expand the business and getting more professional tools like industrial machine, which could make the job easier and faster. The location of my shop which is situated at a remote area in Nsukkara has also been part of the challenges I have, because it limits me from getting access to wider number of customers. In all sincerity, I’m grateful to God for the victories regardless of all the aforementioned challenges.

On Sales
The business is moving gradually and we are happy about the little progress so far. We make sales every day, but, we usually have increase in sales during the month of September and October when school resumes. Also, people come from far and wide to buy and also place order. The Prizes of my bag ranges from 1000naira to 10,000naira, depending on the size and spec required.

About Training Of Interns
Due to the little success and growth we’ve had overtime, people in my locality and from far places bring their wards for training. On records, I’ve been able to train twenty girls who are already doing great. About three of my interns left me and established their shops.

Testimonials?
I’ve had so much testimonials and referrals from my customers. Most of them who are satisfied with the quality and durability of my bag keeps referring their friends and relatives to me because they realized the bags I produce is very authentic.

Christianity EtcTo Those That Think Pastors Shouldn't Seek Justice In Court By Enwongo Cleopas by worlings(op): 9:41pm On Apr 04, 2017
I saw a post here stating that Christians who take people to court are not true Christians. Her reason? We are to forgive and let go. But I am going to talk about forgiveness, justice and fairness in accordance with the bible and as a lawyer too. Is it christlike to forgive? Is it Christlike to overlook a wrong? Is it Christlike to demand justice for a wrong? Is it christlike to be held accountable when we wrong others? ‎

First of all, there are offences that are simply offences. These offences are not codified as criminal or civil wrongs. And then there are offences that are criminal or civil wrongs. Not all wrongs are codified in law. In civil matters, a person can choose to not take legal action but in criminal matters, the 'state' is the one with the authority to prosecute offenders. You can forgive your murderer or rapist, but the state can choose to pursue justice and bring them to order.

One of the attributes of a Christian is a 'forgiving spirit'. This means that whether the offence is codified or not, it is expected for a Christian to forgive.‎ Now what exactly is forgiveness? It is making peace, letting go of hurt and wrong. Forgiveness is letting go of your right to retaliate when you're wronged, and it also means refusing to 'retaliate' or 'take vengeance' for a wrong done to you.

Does forgiveness mean refusing justice it's duty?‎

Now, a wrong is two ways; (a) against you only or (b) against you and against the 'laws' of the land or against the state. A person can choose to forgive a 'personal' wrong, but the state has no such obligation therefore, such wrong can be tried and taken to law.

Let me cite an experience. Last year, a friend here asked me to help him follow up a matter. A 13 year old was raped by the father's brother. Let me also add that the father's brother was an assistant pastor in the church they all attended. During one of our meetings, the senior pastor kept asking the father to 'forgive' the brother and drop the matter because he was a 'Christian'. I was incensed but I did not have to do anything because the man said this and I quote, 'I will forgive him but he has to face the law so what is right is done'. I still remember the dad telling us, 'I don't think God will punish me for fighting for my daughter'. I've held onto those words for months.‎

After my dad was shot and the perpetrators were identified, the commissioner of police then came to meet him at the hospital to discuss their findings and to convey the apologies and remorse of the suspects, my dad told him, 'I have nothing against them and I forgive them'. When the man told him what was to be done, my dad did not try to interfere.‎

Forgiveness is for your peace and personal exorcism but I love to think that Justice is also an extension of forgiveness. And let us not confuse it with vengeance. Justice is settling for what's fair and right.‎

One of the tenets of Christianity is justice and fairness and love. Love comes with accountability. Justice is an extension of love; to be held accountable for your actions to another and to bear the consequences thereof.

In the bible, many times, the word righteousness is always accompanied with the word, Justice. In fact, the characteristics of an upright and righteous person was a desire to pursue justice. Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Psalms, Micah, Deuteronomy, Leviticus, Isaiah, Romans, Matthew, extolled this virtue a whole lot. Jesus was a manifestation of that desire from God. I will cite examples of the passages with 'justice & righteousness' in the comment. ‎

I still remember my dad making me memorise this verse, 'For he loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of God' - psalms 33:5. And he usually referred me to John 3:16. For God so love the world that he sent his son... Jesus was a succinct proof of God's desire for righteousness and Justice.

What does that mean exactly? Does it mean we are no more to seek for justice for a wrong done? No. Jesus never came to exonerate or undermine justice. Jesus once addressed the Pha‎risees, '...woe to you, you give God all your money, the Tenth of your money but you neglect 'Justice' and the 'Love' of God...Luke 11vs42) this showed that God's major desire is to see Justice and love flow through the earth.‎

In fact, Jesus once stated 'you wouldn't be afraid of the law and constituted authority if you do no wrong...' that was his acknowledgement that laws are there for a reason, to promote Justice and fairness and to make sure balance existed. It will be a terrible thing to exist in a place where people are simply patted on the back for their wrong done to others. ‎

Back to forgiveness, I think it is pure mischief when we insinuate that Christianity is simply closing eyes to what is wrong because that is forgiveness. Nope. Christianity does not end with sweeping things under the carpet. Christianity insists on justice, fairness and righteousness. Forgiveness does not impede fairness, accountability and justice. The parables of Jesus enthroned one thing, an accountability and consequences of our actions towards others.

God was very clear when he said 'vengeance' is mine. Note this. Vengeance. Vengeance is exacting revenge for a wrong done to you. The motive is different from 'justice' and asking for 'accountability'.‎

You can forgive a person who stole from you while also asking for a recompense and repayment of those stolen funds. ‎
You can forgive your boss for mistreating you while also asking for a reinstatement or a legal compensation for the many hours you invested in the company. A workman shall receive his compensation.‎
You can forgive your predator while the law takes its course to push for justice and accountability. (the law here is not the 'biblical law' but rather laws made by constituted authority).

Forgiveness does not deny accountability and submission to the law or constituted authority. So yes, you can offend me, and I will forgive you while also making sure you are accountable for your actions. Love operates with accountability. Forgiveness does not take away accountability. It doesn't strip you of the consequences of your actions especially if such wrong goes beyond a person e.g a wrong against the state. To me, forgiveness does not operate in denial of justice.‎

So no, it doesn't go against the tenets of Christianity when a person is made accountable for a wrong done to another. We are not operating oblivious to constituted authority or the reliance of same on earth. If the laws says don't, you better not.

Nairaland GeneralA Typical Ibibio Man By Uwem Brown by worlings(op): 5:40pm On Nov 26, 2015
A TYPICAL IBIBIO MAN

A typical Ibibio man can be found in South-South Nigeria, he is related to An Anang and Efik man in tribe, he is from Akwa Ibom State.

The Ibibio's are very hardworking, their men are upright and loving, but they are few other negative lifestyles identified as the way some Ibibio men behave.

Highlighting this few lifestyles, the following may be the most glaring bad behaviors from them.

He is one of those men that have issues with anger, he will throw a bowl of soup at his wife when the soup contains no meat and fish inside even when he did not give the wife enough money to cook a befitting soup.

He is plaque with a small syndrome 'etok etok' syndrome such that everything about him evolves around him, his wife and children, a small house a small car and a small job.

He doesn't like taking risk in life. The highest foray he can make in terms of business is to own a small Hotel, employ a few relatives, owes them salary while he has a special room in that Hotel to frolic with small girls younger than his last daughter.

He loves sex, alcohol especially 'Akai Kai'( dry gin ) and prefers reading the bogus headlines from the popular warp editorials (Glo**l Con***d).

He is bossy and boastful. He wants all his relatives and subordinate to be answerable to his calling, wash his clothes, wash his cars and clean up his house.

Even when he has the capacity to connect his relatives to having jobs, he refuses to do so because he enjoys the attitude of begging from them while he gives them a little stipend to go home with and feed their family.

These are the few highlights of the negative lifestyles of some Ibibio men.

This piece of write up is not in any form to denigrate the Ibibio man, it is an exposé of the numerous weaknesses of some Ibibio men. It will only inform some of us born and raised within the Ibibio land and culture to refrain from falling into these negative conventional life styles, so that the future generation Ibibio men will be a better Ibibio men.

A typical Ibibio woman coming soon......Stay tuned

Nairaland GeneralWould You Donate Your Sperm For Iphone6 ?? by worlings(op): 2:46pm On Sep 21, 2015
what can you do to get an iphone6?
well,Faced with a shortage of sperm donors, Chinese sperm banks have a new marketing ploy: They’re advertising iPhones in exchange for donations.

The going rate for donations seems to hover between 5,000 yuan (US$785.68) and 6,000 yuan (US$942.82), which is enough to cover the US$649 needed for a 16GB iPhone 6S when it comes out.

Several sperm banks are distributing flyers and taking out newspaper ads with iPhones prominently displayed on top, in the hopes of catching more eyes with their plea.

For example, the Renji Hospital in Shanghai started distributing a digital flyer (link in Chinese) on chat app WeChat, offering 6,000 yuan (US$942.82) for a 40 millilitres donation, as well as a free medical check. It even states that men can donate over several sessions within a six-month stretch, since a regular “session” will produce somewhere between 2 millilitres and 6 millilitres of a sample.

NYSCNYSC Introduces ‘self-deployment Scheme’ For Corps Members by worlings(op): 2:19pm On Jul 24, 2015
Under a new arrangement, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) will henceforth allow prospective corps members to determine where they wish to serve.

The plan known as “self-deployment scheme”, according to the NYSC, is expected to curb fraud, which it said, was often associated with the earlier method of deployment of prospective corps members.

The development was part of resolutions from a workshop on NYSC 2015 Batch ‘B’ pre-mobilisation in Kaduna.

In a communique at the end of the workshop yesterday, the NYSC said: “In a bid to tackle the problem of deluge of concessional requests with which the NYSC is being inundated, prospective corps members will henceforth be given the opportunity to choose states of their choice outside their socio-cultural and linguistic areas, using ICT solution.

“Given the negative implications of assigning invalid or wrong JAMB numbers to prospective corps members during the mobilisation process, corps producing institutions have been advised to always take advantage of the window of opportunity created by Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and regularise the admission of their graduates and advise the affected graduates to activate such numbers before presenting them for mobilisation.

“For us to bring administration nearer to everybody, complaints and issues arising from the on-line registration from prospective corps members and corps producing institutions will henceforth be lodged with Deployment and Relocation Officers at the NYSC state secretariats for onward transmission to the ICT Department for necessary action.

HealthWhat The Semi-colon Tattoos Is All About by worlings(op): 2:44pm On Jul 10, 2015
Am yet to see one in Nigeria although it has been embraced in Europe and America. I know for sure that Nigerians will soon join the trend as we are known for associating ourself’s and supporting such projects.

A semicolon – what’s that all about though?

Semicolon tattoos are not just a passing trend but have huge meaning to those that have them and they carry an important message. Here’s why.
The SemiColon Project was set up in 2013 and is dedicated to supporting people dealing with depression, anxiety and other mental health issues. It promotes the discussion around mental health for both those that suffer and amongst their family and friends.
