⚡According to some reports, the Pentagon soon intends to increase its presence off the Chinese coast by sending there five aircraft carrier strike groups with escort ships. Two aircraft carriers, USS Ronald Reagan and USS Theodore Roosevelt, are already near China. USS Carl Vinson is replenishing supplies at Pearl Harbor Naval Base, after which it should return to Taiwan. Another carrier is due to be the USS Abraham Lincoln, which is currently at the San Diego base, and the fifth if five carriers are actually dispatched would be the USS George Washington — it's now in Norfolk.

⚡Russia’s spy boss on Tuesday said a pilot who defected to Ukraine with a military helicopter and then reportedly shot dead in Spain was a “moral corpse”. Maxim Kuzminov flew his Mi-8 helicopter into Ukraine in August in a brazen operation, saying he opposed Russia’s military offensive. Reports in Spanish media said Kuzminov was found shot dead in the southern town of Villajoyosa last week, where he had moved after receiving Ukrainian citizenship for switching sides. A spokesperson for Ukraine’s main intelligence directorate later confirmed that Kuzminov had died without providing further details, Ukrainian media reported. “This traitor and criminal became a moral corpse at the very moment when he planned his dirty and terrible crime,” Russian state news agencies quoted Sergei Naryshkin, the head of Russia’s SVR foreign intelligence service, as saying Tuesday.

⚡Guinea's military junta, which seized power in a coup in September 2021, has dissolved the government. The announcement was made through a presidential decree read on state TV on Monday by the presidency's Secretary General, Brig Gen Amara Camara. Hungary remains the only NATO member that has not ratified Sweden's application. The Hungarian government is under increasing pressure as the new country's admission into the military alliance requires unanimous approval. Earlier this month, US Senator Ben Cardin, Democrat of Maryland and chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, raised the possibility of sanctions against Hungary for its behavior and called Orban "the least reliable member of NATO."

⚡Moscow authorities announced the launch of three new metro lines and 48 stations by 2030.
