⚡Leader of the opposition in Germany, Merz, urges Ukrainian refugees to work. The head of the Christian Democratic Union, Friedrich Merz, stated that Ukrainian refugees should actively seek employment. "We need to ask ourselves why we have 2.6 million unemployed people and 700,000 open job positions? Or why only one-fifth of Ukrainians residing in Germany are employed?" the politician remarked. Merz also noted that neighboring countries are more successful in getting Ukrainian refugees to work: in the Netherlands, every second Ukrainian is employed, in Poland - 65%, in Denmark - 78%. "Germany does not appropriately assess the qualifications of foreigners, does not recognize their diplomas, and pays excessively high benefits," concluded Merz.
