Investment / How To Own A House In Nigeria With Federal Mortgage by wwsurfers(m): 4:31pm On Apr 09
Owning a home with Federal Mortgage is easy, if you have a stable source of income. The Federal Government of Nigeria has enabled the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) to help Nigerians own homes, through a scheme referred to as National Housing Fund (NHF).

An applicant can only access the amount they can mathematically pay back. What you make in a month and your age are considered. Those 60 and above can't participate in the initiative. However, applicants have up to 30 years to pay up. Civil servants should calculate what they're earning monthly and how many years more they have in service before applying for the mortgage. If their situation is unfavorable, they can't apply for the loan.

How to Apply

Applicants usually can't apply directly to the FMBN. They can easily apply through primary mortgage banks (PMB) or real estate developers who are in NHF partnership with the FMBN.

However, in our personal experience as a developer with a PMB, we were told by the PMB to go and deal with FMBN directly. Also, PMBs have their own unique mortgage programs they're busy with and distracted by.

Hence, applicants can apply with us and we then relay the application to FMBN. In addition, we develop the desired property for the applicant, while FMBN monitors us.

With great ethics, competency and customer-centredness, we always deliver great products.

Education / Homelessness In Nigeria And The Need To Help Victims by wwsurfers(m): 11:10pm On Jul 01, 2023
The homeless in Nigeria are up to 13% of the population. That is well over 25 million people.

Homelessness is in different shades, as some people hang with others and others are without homes, and are out in the streets ... sleeping rough.

Homeless people are vulnerable and way more exposed to violence. There are reports of rape of unhoused women and girls, and violence on homeless men. Homelessness also makes young homeless girls go into prostitution, and make men amenable to vicious acts.

The effects of homelessness are numerous. A lot of homeless people struggle with depression, devastation, gloominess et cetera. The sun heats them; the rain beats them and they lack a good environment for proper hygiene et cetera. It's no wonder homelessness easily makes people mentally sick.

Unaccommodated people might be perceived to be lazy people, but as our world is a complicated place; so is homelessness. They are not necessarily lazy people. Circumstances of a complex world can steal people's homes, sending them out into the streets to live in poverty and a harsh environment. Some causes of homelessness in Nigeria are banditry, high-cost of living, bad governance, lack of affordable housing, lack of social housing, low pay, life-changing events such as accidents or illnesses, death of a guardian or bread-winner, flooding, migration et cetera.

It is important for us to help people without houses in whatever ways we can. Try to help today.

Computers / Re: Things That Consume Data On Windows 10 Laptops. by wwsurfers(m): 11:20pm On Jan 20, 2019
DieuDonee:
So how do you switch off the data for them?

You don't switch off the data. You switch them off. There are millions of tutorials online.

Of all factors I mentioned, auto-update consumes data more. To switch off auto-update:

Click Ctrl + R
Enter services.msc
Look for Windows Update, double click on it or right click on it and open its properties
Under General tab, make Startup type "Disabled"
Go to Recovery tab, and switch First Failure, Second Failure and Third Failure to "Take No Action"
Click "Okay"

Secondly, on the long list (Services) where you saw Windows update:
Look for Update Orchestrator Service and open its properties
Under the General tab, make Startup type "Disabled"
Go to Recovery tab, and switch First Failure, Second Failure and Third Failure to "Take No Action"
Click "Okay"

This would stop the auto-update.

Side effects
When this setting is active, you won't be able to download items from the Windows store. Thus, before downloading from it, you should revert the setting. Further, your system as they (Windows) say might be vulnerable. In this way, you should ensure you manually update you device as you have turned off the auto-update.

For Background Apps

Press Ctrl + i
Go to Privacy
On the left, scroll down to Background Apps and click on it
Turn off Let apps run on the background

This won't only prevent apps from auto-updating, it'll also save your battery. That's how much I can help for now.

Computers / Things That Consume Data On Windows 10 Laptops. by wwsurfers(m): 6:50pm On Jan 20, 2019
Windows is frustrating when it comes to data. I saw a guy who was about reverting to previous Windows because of this. But that isn't the best option. Knowing the things responsible for consuming your data is a great help in your blitz to punctiate how Windows 10 consumes your data.

Recommended: Best HP Laptop Deals in Nigeria in 2019 (See the images of them below)

What are the things that consumes my data on my Windows 10 Laptop?

1. Auto-Update.
2. The tiles on the Start Menu.
3. Apps running on the background.

These are the major data suckers. Once you stop them, your Windows 10 would be able to manage data as previous Windows? Contribute to this post. Squee!

UPDATE
Please, kindly go to the second comment which is by me for how to switch off auto-update and how to stop background apps from running.

Computers / Reviews: The Best HP Laptop Deals In Nigeria In 2019 by wwsurfers(m): 2:20pm On Jan 20, 2019
Buying a laptop is not like buying a lollipop. You have to do some digging because you’d be spending some significant amount of money. You don’t want to buy a laptop that doesn’t have necessary features or won’t be durable. If you want to buy a veritable (in Nigerian parlance, ogbonge) laptop, I strongly recommend you read through.

www.nairaland.com/attachments/8545833_1_jpeg83b5009e040969ee7b60362ad7426573

The HP laptops discussed here meet some very important standards that are requisites: reliability, authenticity, durability, functionality-cum-beauty, lightweight, and speed among others.
You might have a laptop in mind, but dare I say the following recommendations would beat whatever it is.

Before we start, note:
1. Nowhere on Jumia would you get any laptop in the category of the ones reviewed here cheaper than them (i.e. the ones reviewed here). I compared all and brought out the best deals as regards, price and added benefits.

2. Whatever functional laptop you buy should have:
(1) the WiFi, (2) the Bluetooth, (3) DVD RW Drive, (4) Keyboard Light (speaking from experience, this is very very useful), ((5) Touchscreen, optional), among other things. These make your experience easy. You should especially not buy a laptop without a DVD Drive as most of the softwares that’d be installed in it would be done through CDs and/or DVDs. With WiFi on your laptop, whether you’re a student or work at some firm or company, you can easily have internet access, if they support this. I schooled at the University of Port Harcourt where WiFi is supported. With that, I easily gained access to the internet free. With Bluetooth you can easily send little items from or to your device, where there’s no cord. Keyboard Light is absolutely helpful, in the day or at night.

Note also: HDD stands for Hard Disk Drive; OS stands for Operating system.

With the foregoing notes established, let’s lurch in.

1. HP Notebook 15 Intel® Celeron -- ₦ 120,600

www.nairaland.com/attachments/8545834_p1_jpeg5da688978c986392da5a3ef1f5130c9c

If you’re on a budget and you don’t need a laptop for heavy tasks or work, such as blogging; or you won’t be running heavy applications, this laptop’s tailored for you. It’s top-notch for movies and is very fine for light works such as typing, sending emails, storing documents, running a search on a search engine, using social networking sites, including SKYPE; and the like.
A laptop that’s lower than this is best for a child younger than 9, speaking from experience. Thus, if you want to buy a veritable laptop on a budget and if you won’t be needing it for heavy tasks, this is your best fit.

While this laptop’s great for the foregoing mentioned tasks, it’s not so good with heavy applications such as high-end games (Asphalt 9, for example). Heavy applications are the ones that use up a lot of RAM space, causing your laptop to run slowly or even freeze. This is exasperatingly frustrating.

Laptop Highlights:
-CPU Speed: 1.6 GHz
-RAM: 4GB
-Weight: 2.1 kg
-HDD: 500G
-Screen: 15.6-Inch
-OS: Windows 10 Home 64
-Wireless Connectivity: WiFi and Bluetooth
-Webcam: HP Webcam with integrated digital microphone
-Audio features: Dual speakers
-Battery life mixed usage: Up to 11 hours and 45 minutes (Good)
-Keyboard: Standard with numeric keypad
-DVD RW Drive: Yes

Buy on Jumia (at N120,600) and get:
-A bag
-A wireless mouse
-A flash drive

www.nairaland.com/attachments/8545835_p2_jpeg2968aac941362234adf072828ec880c6

If you want an advanced laptop you can use to run heavy tasks or applications, this is a good bet. The speed is very good. And given that it has 1TB of HDD, you can store up a great deal of things in it. The laptop can handle heavy tasks and should boot in about 3-5 seconds given its CPU speed of 2.4GHz.

Laptop Highlights:
-CPU Speed: 2.4GHz
-RAM: 4GB
-HDD: 1TB
-Screen: 15.6 Inch
-OS: Windows 10 Home 64
-Wireless Connectivity: WiFi and Bluetooth
-Webcam: HP TrueVision HD Camera with integrated digital microphone
-Audio features: Dual Speakers
-Battery life mixed usage: Up to 11 hours and 45 minutes
-Keyboard: Standard with numeric keypad
-DVD RW Drive: Yes
-Product warranty: One Year Warranty

Buy this laptop on Jumia (at N145,000) and get:
i. A wireless mouse

3. HP Notebook 15-DA0093CA i3 – N170,000

www.nairaland.com/attachments/8545833_1_jpeg83b5009e040969ee7b60362ad7426573

This is the kind of HP laptop I use. It is an improvement of the foregoing one. It is spectacular. Given that I use this type and have got personal experience of it, I’m in a very good position to review it. Before I start, I must stress that my laptop beats it a little, only a little. While this one has 1TB of HDD, mine has 2.

Notwithstanding the slight difference, both laptops have the same performance as regards speed because both have exactly the same CPU Speed which is 2.4GHz. When you put this laptop on, it boots in about 3-5 seconds. I run heavy applications and I’m a blogger (at DubaiTourPro.com). It never freezes and scarcely runs slowly. It supports WiFi, hotspot, and of course Bluetooth. Its keyboard keys also boast lights, so that you can see every key without any hassle. The keyboard light is super productive, whether in the day or at night.

Further, the laptop can carry out heavy tasks and run heavy applications. Thus, you can play high-end games with it. Seriously, this laptop is a veritable one; in Nigerian parlance, this nah laptop. Have I mentioned it’s touch screen?
I remember people referring to mine as “the beast”, and “machine”. Some said its “clean”; a guy said, “this laptop dey murder me o” etc. Some just admired it with heightened interest. In all the cases, I grinned. If you buy the laptop, you shouldn’t have anything to regret.

Laptop Highlights:
-CPU Speed: 2.4Ghz
-RAM: 8GB
-HDD: 1TB
-Screen: 15 Inch
-OS: Windows 10 Home 64
-Wireless Connectivity: WiFi, hotspot and Bluetooth
-Webcam: HD Camera with integrated digital microphone
-Audio features: Dual Speakers
-Battery life mixed usage: Up to 11 hours and 45 minutes
-Keyboard: Standard with numeric keypad
-Keyboard Light: Yes
-DVD RW Drive: Yes
-Touch Screen: Yes

Buy this laptop on Jumia (at N170,000) and get:
i. A 32GB flash drive

Link to product (If the link must work, you must copy and paste it on your browser and hit "Go/Enter" ):

http://c.jumia.io/?a=126334&c=11&p=r&E=kkYNyk2M4sk%3d&ckmrdr=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.jumia.com.ng%2Fhp-hp-notebook15-da0093ca-i3-8gb-1tb-15.6-win-1032gb-flash-24393345.html%23product-details&utm_source=cake&utm_medium=affiliation&utm_campaign=126334&utm_term=

Note: Nowhere on Jumia can you get it cheaper.

Verdict
If you want to buy a small laptop, buy the first one. If you want to buy a smart laptop that people would see and respect, buy the third one. But if you need a powerful laptop, but you’re on a budget and wouldn’t mind not having some advanced features, go with the second one.

In case you don’t know, when you buy a product from Jumia, they deliver it to you. And on Jumia, to reiterate, these laptops are the cheapest in their categories. In other words, there are other dealers on Jumia selling the same HP laptops as these, but these are priced significantly cheaper and come with added benefits, as shown here. Enjoy!

Travel / Places In Dubai Where You Can Shop Very Cheap by wwsurfers(m): 9:47pm On Nov 23, 2018
Dubai is a renowned tourist destination visited for many reasons, besides its glitz. After the launching of Burj Khalifa, world's tallest building, the fame of the city has grown steadily. Today, it is the fourth most visited city in world. Of the things Dubai is known for, shopping is one of most remarkable. In fact, the second biggest Chinese market place in the world is in Dubai.

Further, Dubai organizes a shopping festival called Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) annually. And Dubai Shopping Festival is the best time to visit Dubai for shopping in that things get very cheap. Lastly here, the city also has a destination called Global Village. Global Village boasts exotic items at competitive prices, although you get to haggle. The foregoing said, let's explore some shopping destinations where shopping can be appreciably cheap.

The original article was posted at DubaiTourPro.com: Some Shopping Malls in Dubai for Cheap Shopping.

The Outlet Mall

First on the list is The Outlet Mall. Here, you can get a huge selection of luxury items from designers such as Stella McCartney, Givenchy and Tod’s, to high street names like Aldo, Adidas and Wrangler sold at a fraction of their original price. These items are sold cheap because they are suppliers' past season’s stock.

Garderobe

Second is Garderobe. Seriously this destination particularly impresses upon me. It excites me to think of it. Here, you get authentic pre-loved items (clothing and jewelry, especially) which are 100% checked by the Garderobe team. These items, it seems to us, are near new, and are apparently new. It should excite you to know that they ship internationally. Garderobe is no mean destination. You can get very expensive things from them.

The Outlet Village

The Outlet Mall has been dubbed "a bargain lover's paradise". Selling Luxury fashion labels and high-end products at the lowest prices is the unique selling point The Outlet Village. They pride on it. You should also compare prices. You can find products by brands like Adidas, Calvin Klein, Armani, DKNY, Roberto Cavalli and Tommy Hilfiger, among others. Besides shopping, however, The Outlet Village offers you incredible international eateries where you can get any of burgers, Arabic fare, hot dogs to gelato, pizzas and salad; and a play park. At the play park, whether you want to recreate yourself or your kids, The Outlet Village has got you covered.

Dragon Market

Dragon Mart is a Chinese products trading centre, the largest outside Chine. The shopping mall has on Facebook over 543 thousand likes and over 545 people following them. It is one huge market place where you can get virtually every item you seek. These range from kitchenware to furnishing, from home appliances to office equipment, from children’s items to adults’. Some of the items you can find at the mall are bags (hand or traveling), painting, clothing, antiques, aquarium, sandpaper, Arabic perfumes, gaming items, bicycles. They hold events and activities which the little ones can participate in. There are also seasonal markets that offer visitors huge deals and discounts. Customers have said it is a good place to save plenty of money.

Other Places to Get Things in Dubai

1. Karama Shopping Centre
2. Deira Market
3. New Naif Market
4. Meena Bazaar
5. Old Souk

In conclusion, while there are other places you can get things cheap in Dubai, you won't get disappointed at these destinations. For information about their addresses or websites, or for other details, visit the original source. I have provided the link at the top of the post. Happy shopping!
