Owk, OP why does your definition address only the female folks? i believe its both male and female. now to answer your question i will like to answer from a christian point of view (but i promise i wont put verses), truth is 'doing other things to calm the nerves' is still wrong because there is the satisfaction that makes them feel like the real thing happened because most of the time there is ejaculation, now who ever said sex is only when there is penetration via the 'normal channel', MouthAction is also sex, anal sex too, what is not good is not good, even if it has become the norm, nothing like 'modern day virgin' you are either one or you are not, these things also involves our emotions you know, doing every other thing and and not sex itself, how does that make me feel? maybe a virgin as per the hymen is still there but truth be told we all know she lost it already, i term virginity with innocence too.

finally lets ask ourselves if Mary the mother of Jesus did 'other things to calm her nerves' except the real thing, do u think she will be qualified to be called a virgin? nahhhh i doubt it, so i rest my case.
