WebmastersRe: Google Celebrates Her 18th Birthday Today by xpmarj(m): 6:08am On Sep 27, 2016
dataland:
Google is now officially an adult. The internet giant is celebrating its 18th birthday on Tuesday with an animated Doodle shown to web browsers around the world.

The company, founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin in 1998, traditionally marks its birthday on the Google homepage on September 27.
In 2004, its 6th birthday Doodle went online on September 7 and in the year before that, it was September 8.

In fact, none of these dates seem to have any particular relevance. The company's own history lists its incorporation date in 1998 - the nearest thing to a corporate birthday - as September 4.

And the idea for Google began years earlier in 1996, as a research project at Stanford University, when Page and Brin had a new idea for a search engine that would rank pages by how many other sites linked to it, rather than the crude format others used at the time - ranking them by how often the search term appeared on the page.

Google alluded to confusion over its birthday in 2013, admitting it had celebrated its birthday on four different dates, but September 27 now seems to have stuck. The company may have just chosen the date because it was what the first birthday Doodle in 2002 used.
Google has celebrated its birthday with a Doodle every year since its fourth birthday in 2002. However, the first Doodle, for the Burning Man festival in 1998, actually occurred before the company was technically founded.

Last year, the company split under a new corporate umbrella, Alphabet, which hived off more outlandish divisions of the company such as its driverless cars unit and robotics subsidiary Boston Dynamics. The change saw its founders move away from Google’s day-to-day running.
18 years after it was founded at Stanford University, Google is one of the world's most powerful companies. It is second only to Apple in value, with a market capitalisation of $541bn (£417bn).

Page and Brin are ranked 12th and 13th on Forbes' list of the richest people in the world, with net worths of $35.2bn and $34.4bn respectively.

However, not even Google seems to really know when it was formed. Since 2006, it has celebrated its birthday on September 27, but the year before that, had it as September 26.wever, not even Google seems to really know when it was formed. TV/MoviesRe: "93 Days" Premiere At The House On The Rock Church: Amaechi, Joke Silva Attend by xpmarj(m): 9:55pm On Sep 15, 2016
obiremy:
It was an amazing day as House on the Rock Church, Natives FilmWorks, Michelangelo Productions and the Bolanle Austen-Peters Production premiered the much anticipated movie “93 Days” in Nigeria.

After a successful screening at the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the world premiere of 93 Days at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), ’93 Days’ premiered with a bang on Tuesday, September 13th 2016, at the House On The Rock church, with celebrities like Joke Silva, Olu Jacobs, Bimbo Akintola, Bolanle Austen-Peters, Chioma Chukwuka, Timi Dakolo, Michelle Dede, Ozzy Agu, Chibuike Amaechi, Seun Ajayi and Segun Arinzeamongst others in attendance.

In addressing the question many have been asking about why the church is involved in a movie premiere, the Senior Pastor and founder of House On The Rock church, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, said in his statement at the press conference:

“I ask why not? The God whose we are and whom we serve has taught us that faith in Him was never meant to be lived on the periphery of the world but rather instead to stand tall in the center, as light to the world. The underlying message of 93 days is a powerful one which teaches, in experiential terms, many values and principles of the Holy Writ and we are humbled to be a part of a story of true heroism, bravery, sacrifice and the quest to be greater together! For Nigeria countless lessons for nation building and transformation can be gleaned and internalized from this harrowing yet uniting occurrence. As a nation we exemplified Helen Keller’s maxim that “alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.”

I dare say that by collaborating with Nollywood, we (the church and the press) have the opportunity of using our places of impact; be they the pen or the pulpit, to share exemplary virtues that propagate the values of nation building and transformation while at the same time supporting the art and distribution of movies.”

A lot of notable people also honoured the occasion with their presence, including Bishop Mike Okonkwo, Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of transport, Chief Olu Okeowo, Joke Okeowo, Jimi Agbaje, Barrister Dapo Abiodun, Bamidele Abiodun, Nkiru Anumudu, American Consul General to Nigeria Martin Brennan, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode represented by Hon. Abass, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila and many more.

All guests, out of the excitement of conquering the Ebola virus, signed on the 93 Days wall with lots of encouraging, motivating and prayerful messages.

PhonesRe: My Bitter Experience At Innjoo Office In Ikeja - Ceecia by xpmarj(m): 3:29pm On Sep 12, 2016
ceecia:
I had the worst experience of my life on Friday at InnJoo office in Ikeja. A friend of mine sent in his phone from Benin for me to help him fix because there are no Innjoo service centres in Benin. The first day I went to their office located in Ikeja, I was told they did not have the parts to fix the phone and I should check back in two weeks. I took down their customer service contact and called after two weeks and was told the parts are available. I went back there and dropped the phone and was given a date to come and pick it up. I got there on the said date and presented the invoice I was given for collection only to be told that the parts are still not available. I was puzzled and I ask why I was not informed of this so I do not waste my time here. They had my contact and did not deem it fit to even send a message. The lady that attended to me just replied me without any form of empathy that they were sorry and blah blah blah. I left there angrily. My friend now called the customer service rep after two weeks of me going there and asked if they have the parts now and they said that they did so I went back there to pick up.

This time around I had lost the invoice and I told the lady and she insisted I have to pay 1000 naira before I can be attended to. I tried to explain that I have been there before then to collect but was told there were no parts, after all, I was supposed to have collected the phone long before now. All explanations fell on deaf ears as she insisted. I approached the manager who is an Indian and he refused to do anything about it. So I had to agree to pay the 1000 naira so that I can just pick the phone and go. The customer service rep then started the process for me to collect the phone. i waited for another 1hr 20 minutes before they brought out the phone for me. I inserted the battery and charged it a bit in their office so I can turn it on to check if the issue was fixed before I leave. The issue with the phone was the screen touch pad was malfunctioning so they said they had to change the touchpad. When I turned on the phone, I saw strange lines in different colours on the screen of the phone. At this point, I had already paid so I went back the customer care rep and showed her. she then took the phone back to the engineers. At this point I was tired and needed to leave so I asked her to refund the money, and I will come back another day to pick it when they fix it. She refunded and I left. My friend who owns the phone then called me to just collect the phone without fixing because there is no guarantee that the phone will not develop issues even after fixing. I went back and told the lady that I need the phone back without fixing and to my surprise, she said I need to pay for the parts that have already been put inside. I opened my mouth and was in shock. I said how can I pay for something that is clearly not working. She was insisting. Then I told her to remove the parts and put back the old parts if that is the case and she said no that it does not work that way. It now turned to by force fixing ooo. Then another Indian who I suspect owns the place then approached me and asked the problem.

I told him everything and he said they will fix it, I should not worry. I was angry and told them I do not want to fix and I stormed out and left for home and just decided to forfeit the phone since they refuse to release it. Having been there since 1.30pm and at this time it was almost 4pm. On my way home I discovered I had forgotten something at their office so I had to go back. As I got there the senior manager who I had earlier spoken with asked if I had gotten the phone back and I said no then he told them to give me the phone unfixed. It took them another 20 minutes for them to remove the supposed parts they put into it and hand the phone back to me.

They have the worse system and I regret ever going there for anything. I lost valuable time and they lack proper customer service.
