According to reports making the rounds online, this young boy was brutally and gruesomely beaten by his teacher for an unknown "crime"...Although some say that it was a painting made for a movie, this post has garnered attention on Facebook by going viral after it was posted by a user ( Ritah Kaggwa) who wrote;

This young boy is nursing severe wounds arising from inhuman beatings from his teacher,imagine how merciless and hurtful is this man claiming to be a teacher,we should come out with full force to condemn these actions against our children!‪#‎TearsOnly‬

Troops of 155 Task Force Battalion, 21 Brigade have conducted a clearance operation aimed at clearing remnants of Boko Haram terrorists hiding in at Dipcheri, Jere and Chogolo towns. The gallant troops cleared all the three camps successfully without any casualty on own troops. During the operations the troops came in contact with elements of the terrorists group and arrested 2 suspected Boko Haram terrorists.

The troops also recovered abandoned vehicles, motorcycles and a bicycle as well as locally made single and double barrel guns belonging to the terrorists. Clearance operations by various units and formations in Operation Lafiya Dole are ongoing. The intent is to ensure all remaining elements of the terrorists on Nigerian soil are eliminated.

Following the ethno-religious crisis which happened on the 25th March 2016 at Ibi Local Government Area (LGA) of Taraba state, the Nigerian army has released a statement to that effect....

The incidence reportedly started by some youths throwing stones at Muslims in the mosque during Juma'at prayers which later escalated to sporadic shooting, but for the timely intervention of troops and other sister security agencies, normalcy was restored and 24 hours curfew imposed. For now, there has been no report of death.

However, 6 persons have so far been arrested in connection to the crisis and manhunt is ongoing for other perpetrators. The troops have recovered 3 AK-47 assault rifles, 2 AK47 magazines, 4 single barrel guns, 11 cartridges, 1 axe, 2 hammers, 1 cutlass, 2 handsaws, 1 knife, 3 mobile phones, 1 catapult, 1 broken butt, 19 rounds of 5.56mm, 104 rounds of 7.2mm (Special) ammunitions and I litre of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from the suspects.

Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke, on Friday reminisced on his days as a child whose mum was committed to the well-being of their early Christian congregation. The Speaker who attended the Good Friday service this morning at Qua Iboe Church, Itak, said the congregation shaped his adolescent life.

Sharing his story with the church congregation, Hon. Luke said his mother was instrumental to his commitment to the ministry as a teenager. “I remember how we used to walk from Immaculate school, where my mum used to work, to this congregation. Mum used to bring us to clean the church very early. When the old congregation couldn’t immediately raise the money to buy laterite for the church building, mum would bring us to dig the pit, take the laterite therein to fill the church site.

“I recall that when the church here stated in 1984, it was first in a village council hall in Nnung Udoe Itak. It later moved to the primary school still here at Nnung Udoe Itak. On Good Fridays like this, we would prepare and come very early to church. Today, we are all grateful to our mother for the upbringing we got since this has brought us a lot of testimonies as a family. This is why I always urge parents to raise their children in the way of the Lord as the Bible commands.”

The Speaker recalled too that it was at the Itak congregation that he took baptismal classes which led to his baptism in 1992. He also urged the younger generation to show commitment to the things of the lord through their service in God’s house in whatever capacity that they have.
