AT ABOUT 7:07AM TODAY, I ARRIVED PEACE MASS, RUMOLA TERMINAL TO GET A BUS TO CALABAR WITH MY FAMILY & IN-LAWS. WE HAD ATTENDED A WEDDING THE DAY BEFORE AND WAS ON OUR WAY BACK TO CALABAR. THE BUS AVAILABLE WAS ALMOST FULL AND SO WON'T TAKE ALL OF US. WE ASKED IF THERE WOULD BE ANOTHER BUS AND WAS TOLD YES AND THAT WE HAVE TO PAY. WE PAID OUR FARES. AFTER WAITING FOR A WHILE WE ASKED AND WAS INFORMED THAT A BUS IS COMING FROM ANOTHER TERMINAL TO PICK US.

THEN STARTED THE LONG PERIOD OF WAITING. AFTER AN HOUR OR SO WE BECAME AGITATED, WE COMPLAINED THAT THE ROADS WERE BAD AND WE COULDN'T AFFORD TO LEAVE LATE AS WE HAD CHILDREN WITH US. VEHICLES HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO BE STUCK AT THE CROSS RIVER END FOR LONG HOURS. AFTER OVER TWO HOURS OF WAITING WE KINDLY ASKED THAT REFUND BE MADE SINCE THE ARRANGEMENT WASN'T LOOKING WELL SO WE CAN USE ANOTHER SERVICE READY TO GO. WE WERE TREATED NONCHALANTLY AND LAUGHED AT BY STAFF.

IT WAS OVER 10AM AND STILL NO REMEDY. IT WAS GETTING LATE TO LEAVE PH AND WE WERE TIRED OF WAITING. MY FATHER IN LAW WAS AGITATED AS EVERYONE ELSE, I ASKED FOR REFUND AGAIN AND WAS IGNORED. I WALKED TO MEET THE MANAGER INSIDE AND HE PUSHED ME OUT. SHOCKED I ASKED HIM WHY HE SHOULD PUSH HIM AND HE HELD MY SHIRT.

HE PUSHED ME AGAIN AND STARTED FALLING AND HELD HIS ARM SHIRT. NEXT THING I KNOW THE MALE CASHIER RUAHED OVER AND PUNCHED ME IN THE FACE. I STAGGERED BACK. BEFORE I COULD LOOK UP , HIS DRIVERS, THE MALE CASHIER , TOUTS THERE ALL DESCENDED ON ME. OVER TWENTY PEOPLE THROWING PUNCHES AT ME, STABBING ME, DRAGGING MY CLOTH. THEY BROUGHT MACHETE, KNIFE TO CUT ME.

MY WIFE( WITH BABY ON HER BACK) AND SISTER IN LAW CRIED AND THROW THEMSELVES BEFORE ME. THE ONES BEHIND CONTINUED TO PLUMMEL ME. I MANAGED TO TEAR FREE AND RAN TO THE COUNTER. THEY FOLLOWED ME AND CONTINUED , SHOUTING THAT THEY WOULD KILL ME AND NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. ONE EVEN RAN TO FIND FUEL.

I WAS THEN COVERED BY SOME PASSENGERS AND ONE SECURITY MAN WHO STOOD WITH PIPE. THE MURDEROUS MOB WERE GRADUALLY BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL. A BUS BECAME AVAILABLE AND WAS USHERED TO SIT INSIDE. WE WERE THEN ATTENDED TO AFTER SOME TIME AND LEFT THE TERMINAL. NO APOLOGY OR ANYTHING.

SUCH DASTARDLY ACTS ARE OF PRIMITIVE AGES AND MEMBERS OF PUBLIC SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO TAKE LAWS INTO THEIR HANDS. THE POLICE, MEDIA & OWNER OF PMT SHOULD LOOK INTO THIS MATTER. IT SHOULDN'T BE TAKEN LIGHTLY. SUCH BRUTISH , MURDEROUS BEHAVIOR ESPECIALLY IN A PUBLIC SERVICE SPACE MUST BE SANCTIONED. THERE SHOUKD AND MUST BE CONSEQUENCE FOR SUCH ACTS BY THE MANAGER AND HIS MEN.
