Exchanging of gifts is a sine qua non and an integral part of every relationship. I don't think any relationship can subsist without having to share gifts, surprise our love ones often and staring at those tittilating smile on their faces. And nothing is as beautiful as staring your partner smile and moreso if you were the one who stimulated the smile.

On my part, I don't think I can involve myself in a relationship were gifts aren't exchanged, it would be humdrum and unexciting, and I must add that I love being the giver though love to be surprised too. But on my own terms I must also say and not through coaxing or coercion.

Love is about sharing ideas, opinions, companionship and gifts so yes nothing wrong with giving and receiving.

I want it to be a surprise

My recent conversation with a close friend got me thinking. Sometime back, she got a gift for her man and the guy went around telling his friends that it was sheer stupidity, that she was trying to use gifts to buy his love. I had to ask if she was the one who asked him out first


Another school of thought is that if she buys him gifts, he assumes she's financially buoyant to take care of herself, hence never bothers about her upkeep.


Personally I love giving. If she feels like surprising me too, that will be awesome! I mean, who doesn't love opening up something from their GF once in a while?


When it comes to giving/receiving gifts from your partner, how do you feel? Are you cool with not getting a gift for an occasion? Who should give gifts more? Do you think giving/receiving gifts is a vital part of relationships?
