Good morning @Ikemummy, I had the same issue when I submitted for my family this week. Were you able to resolve yours and if yes, how please? ikemummy: Good morning my people. I am in Canada studying and recently submitted a Spousal Open Work Permit for my wife and Visitor Visa for our infant daughter. I submitted it in one application with my wife as the principal applicant. However, IRCC gave my wife (the principal applicant) an application number without UCI but gave my daughter both UCI and application number. Please is this normal? |

@Adwal2020, congratulations to you and your family on the arrival of their PPR. Can you please share documents submitted as I'm planning same application for my family. adwal2020: PPR alert!!! All glory and adoration belong to Lord. I traveled to Canada on 18th December 2020. I started packaging my family application immediately after I have collected all the vital documents like Study permit, SIN, Service Card, and so on. I applied for an Open work permit visa for my wife and visiting visa for my children. Timeline: Submitted application on 11th Feb 2021 Biometrics - 3rd March 2021 Upfront medical - 29th March 2021 Sent series of emails before medical was uploaded to pass on 14th June 2021.
At some point, I had to request for GCSM note to find out the current status of our application. I contacted the MP, but the only feedback I got was that the status is "Review Required" I had requested about three notes that are yet to land as we speak. The last email I sent was on the 9th of August, 2021. I sent the email to both Nairobi and London. I finally got a response to my email on 11th August 2021. I think the London office forwarded my email to Nairobi. So, Nairobi told us to request a written authorization. I ask for this letter that same day. After that, the waiting game continues again until 17th August 2021. I noticed my daughter's eligibility changed from "We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirement" to " we will inform you once your eligibility...". Finally, on 18th August, I got a notification that there is a pending message regarding my family application. I opened the portal, and it was a BVL. At this point, I knew the decision had been made. However, it was a mixed feeling because nobody knows what comes next. It is either an approval or a refusal, but I keep hoping for the best. I decided to go and shop for wines believing that it will be a favorable decision. Victory at last. The golden email came in this morning. As usual, I logged into my wife's account, and it was a PPR! I pray that everybody waiting for good news like this will testify very soon in Jesus' name. It wasn't easy but last last; it ended in praise!!
A big shout out to Frankrobbin. You are such a wonderful person. I sincerely appreciate your help from the start to the end. Thanks for the follow-up and suggestions. May God reward you for your kindness. |

Appreciate the feedback @OCT202020. Thanks so much. OCT202020: The gurus always advise that the principal applicant should land in Canny , obtain some vital docs like SIN, study permit, place of residence before filling for the rest of the family.
At the same time,we can't rule out the fact that some very few lucky ones have successfully pulled in through while still in Naija.
If you're bent on risking it out, then it should be a visiting visa for the children (cos they are still under 5yrs) ,also spouse should be a visiting but converted to SOWP at the port of entry. |

Thanks so much for the feedback @Lianna2020. I appreciate. Lianna2020: Letter of introduction isn’t gotten from Poe. The school can give it wherever the applicant is. Like ucw, it’s self served so all one needs to do is download .
Needs study permit, sin, letter of invitation from the spouse . Only study permit is gotten at point of entry. Others are in Canada itself . Like the sin, before one could get it at the airport but covid happened, so that is gotten at any service Canada near the spouse . The above is needed for sowp while visiting visa can be applied without getting a study permit. The permit itself is just a way to tell ircc that the main applicant has entered Canada and all.
Also it’s good to apply for your kids attached to your wife or hubby so they can be approved together and you can equally request for letter of authorization to speed things up. They might accept or reject it, it’s all 50/50 but no harm in trying .
Also they can explain in their letter of explanation how the work load is too much for the wife or hubby to take care of. How you miss your children and how they have lost weight and how you can’t concentrate and all. The emotional thingi.
There’s no timeline with ircc. Anything can happen. |

Thanks a lot for your response Anon123. I appreciate Anon123: I do not think you can apply for the family now.. What you are applying is a open spousal work permit for the spouse while the children are applying for a visiting visa. But you can not apply for any because you need the applicant with the last week approval's study permit, work permit, letter of introduction from the school and all this is gotten at the Port of entry.
Furthermore theres something called a letter of intent though same as SOP but its about why is the spousal applying for an oswp at this time. If you say you will miss your spouse, they already know when the spouse got the SP therefore its too early to miss him/her.
So let the spousal go first settle down and get use the system before applying for the family.
TIMING IS VITAL |
