It is understood, per the Daily Record, that the midfielder was dressed down by the Red Devils boss in a changing room row that took place in front of the entire team.

The visitors went behind early on against Southampton, conceding twice in 20 minutes at St Mary's stadium.

But the visitors rallied back with goals from Romelu Lukaku and Ander Herrera in a first half that saw four goals.

It seemed as though United would go on to win the game but their display in the second half was flat and uninspiring.

At one point, cameras were on Mourinho when Pogba lost the ball by attempting a fancy flick. The United boss responded to the sloppy play by throwing his arms in the air and shouting angrily from the dugout.

According to the report, Mourinho gave the 26-year-old a major dressing down in the away changing room at full-time.

A source from the dressing room has claimed Mourinho called Pogba "a virus" and told him he showed a lack of respect toward his team-mates and fans with the nature of his performance.

The World Cup winner is said to have heard the following from his manager: "You don't play. You don't respect players and supporters. And you kill the mentality of the good honest people around you."

Mourinho was critical of United's midfield at full-time. When asked why his side struggled against Southampton, he told BT Sport: "I think because we lost so many balls in midfield. We lost so many balls in the last third it was difficult to have that continuity.

"I think that was the only reason.

"What we did so well in the last 15-20 minutes of the first half was to connect with the attacking players by transporting the ball, leaving the ball in the right moment, the right choice of pass, playing simple, accelerating the game.

"The second half we went back to that dynamic, again, of where we lose too many balls in midfield.

"And the players don't understand that simplicity is genius, especially in some parts of the pitc. They keep and keep and keep going to complicated football and it is difficult to have that continuity.

OFFICIAL: Cameroon stripped of hosting rights to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations
African football's governing body (Caf) says it is because of delays in the progress of Cameroon's preparation for the tournament, due to start in June.

Officials made the decision at a meeting on Friday in Accra, Ghana, that lasted more than 10 hours.

Caf president Ahmad Ahmad says it will work to "determine a new organising country by the end of the year".

The tournament is set to be the first held in June and July and will be expanded from 16 to 24 teams.

Ahmad said last year that Cameroon still needed "to convince Caf of its ability" to host the event, with the country playing down fears sanctions would be imposed if preparations were deemed to be behind schedule.

But in August the chairman of Caf's Nations Cup organising committee, Amaju Pinnick, said "nobody is going to take it away from Cameroon".

Morocco have been touted as potential hosts, having stepped in to hold this year's African Nations Championship after Kenya were deemed not ready.

It’s obviously Nigeria, is this even supposed to be a debate?

10 championships from the previous 12 editions is enough to tell you who are the outright favourites.

The Super Falcons might have lost their tournament opener to Banyana Banyana, but it was only their second competitive loss to their rivals.

What’s more is how they responded against Zambia and Equatorial Guinea – the only other side to win the competition — beating them 4-0 and 6-0 respectively.

It’s enough to tell you that they are not to be messed with.

Nigeria have never lost in an AWCON final, so if there’s any side capable of pulling through, it’s the ladies in green, because they’ve done it time and time again.

They defeated Banyana in the 1995 and 2000 finals, and winning the tournament has certainly become the team’s trademark.

The current crop have dazzled in Ghana, with current African queen Asisat Oshoala, Francisca Ordega and Desire Oparanozie netting seven of Nigeria’s 10 strikes in the tournament.

Desiree Ellis’ ladies might prove to be a threat on the big day, they do have Thembi Kgatlana – the leading markswoman in the ongoing competition, after all.

However, when push comes to shove, no other women’s national team in Africa has the winning mentality like Nigeria does.

Narkortu Teye: Banyana have it in the bag

According to team South Africa, they have already achieved their ambition at the ongoing Africa Women Cup of Nations, even before stepping into Saturday's final against nemesis Nigeria.

Now that on its own is a big reason why Banyana Banyana are more likely to win the decider.

Unlike record champions Nigeria, who must win at every cost to show they're still the queens of the continent, Ellis' outfit's historic qualification for next year's World Cup means the team will play with swagger.

Unlike their opponents, South Africa are not under pressure.

That Banyana came out on top when the two teams met in their tournament opener is just another reason why confidence will be higher at their side.

The France international might seek a move away from Stamford Bridge if he continues to be played out position, according to the former Blues striker.

Tony Cascarino believes that N'Golo Kante could leave Chelsea at the end of the season if Maurizio Sarri continues to favour Jorginho in a holding midfield role.

The Italian playmaker was asked to take up the position against Tottenham at Wembley last Saturday, with disastrous results, as the home side ran out 3-1 winners.

Kante was deployed in a wider role further up the pitch while Jorginho was guilty of leaving too much space in midfield for Spurs to counter.

Sarri defended his decision in an interview on Wednesday, insisting that Kante does not possess the technical ability to fill that vital defensive position, which raised more than a few eyebrows.

The 27-year-old had occupied that role for three and a half years at club level at both Chelsea and Leicester City to great effect, winning the Premier League twice and the FA Cup.

He also has the same responsibility for France at international level and was a key part of their World Cup success in Russia this summer and ex-Blue Cascarino feels that the 27-year-old is being undervalued at Stamford Bridge at the moment.

“I don’t think Sarri’s comments about Kante being more technical were too much to be concerned about," the former Republic of Ireland international told talkSPORT.

“I think the bigger issue with Kante is they have given him a new contract because they know so many clubs are sniffing around him, but he’s being played out of position.

“You feel he’s wasted.

“I think certainly PSG would be in for him as well as other clubs, and why wouldn’t they? He’s the best at his position in the world, without a doubt, for me.

“That’s why he signed a new deal, but I don’t believe it will be enough to keep him there if Kante plays in that position all season.

“I think by the end of the season he might have had enough, knowing he’s a far better player in the positions he is more accustomed to.”

Next up for Chelsea is a Europa League group stage encounter against PAOK Salonika on Thursday, before a return to Premier League action against Fulham on Sunday.

The Blues are currently fourth in the table and seven points behind leaders Manchester City, with Arsenal just a point behind them in the race for a Champions League spot in fifth.

The Spain international is looking to become the club's joint-highest earner

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea wants to be paid £350,000 per week to match the club's top earner Alexis Sanchez, according to the Daily Mail.

De Gea's deal expires at the end of the season – though United have an option to extend it another year – and the Spain star has already turned down United's £275,000-a-week offer.

With interest from PSG and Juventus, De Gea will demand United make him the club's joint-highest earner and also wants assurances over United's plans for improvement.

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has reached 50 Champions League goals and has hit that mark in fewer games than Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry required.

The prolific Pole brought up his half-century during a clash with Benfica on Tuesday.

That outing was his 77th in Europe’s elite club competition, with his bow made back in 2011.

He has been a regular source of end product since then, with Bayern continuing to benefit from the 30-year-old’s considerable talent.

Lewandowski is now the seventh man to record 50 efforts in the Champions League, joining former Arsenal and Barcelona forward Henry on that mark.

The only players above him are Ruud van Nistelrooy, Karim Benzema, Raul, Lionel Messi and Ronaldo.

Barcelona talisman Messi took 66 games to reach a notable milestone in continental action, while ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid star Van Nistelrooy required just 62.

Lewandowski’s effort against Benfica was most welcome for Bayern, who have endured something of a domestic slump this season.

Niko Kovac finds himself falling under mounting pressure as a result, but his team are unbeaten in Champions League Group E.

Arjen Robben helped to preserve that record in midweek, with the former Netherlands international netting twice before Lewandowski got in on the act.

According to Rai Sport, the Serie A giants have made a preliminary inquiry and Cristiano Ronaldo has given the thumbs up on his former teammate.

Juventus are considering a move for Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio and Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly advised the Old Lady’s board to pursue the possibility, according to Rai Sport.

In what will be the tenth edition of Dubai's Globe Soccer Awards, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann have been nominated for the best player prize.

The winner will be announced at a ceremony on January 3, 2019, in association with the 13th Dubai International Sports Conference, organised by Dubai Sports Council.

Globe Soccer's chief executive, Tommaso Bendoni, made the announcement.

"The 10th anniversary of the Globe Soccer Awards is a special milestone," he said.

"We are delighted to present Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann as the finalists in the best player category."

The ex-Real Madrid forward, who won the Champions League last season, is a four-time winner of the award and has been shortlisted on eight occasions, and will be looking to win for the third consecutive year.

It all started in Rome; Real Madrid's historic Champions League treble all began at the Stadio Olimpico on February 17, 2016 when Zinedine Zidane debuted as Los Blancos boss in Europe with no idea of what he would go on to achieve.

Zidane had taken the reins a month before, on January 9, having succeeded Rafa Benitez in the capital and had begun to straighten things out in LaLiga Santander with five wins and one draw.

The incredible trajectory of Madrid in Europe under Zidane began in Rome on February 17, 2016, and ended in Kiev on May 26, 2018.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has reportedly agreed a six-month contract with Milan worth €2.2m.

The Swedish striker still has another year on his contract with LA Galaxy, but has been heavily linked with a return to the Rossoneri in January.

Technical director Leonardo met with Ibra’s agent, Mino Raiola, on Monday to try and discuss a deal.

Now SportMediaset is reporting that Ibrahimovic has agreed in principle to a six month deal worth €2.2m.

The Bianconeri sold the French midfielder to Manchester United in 2016, for what was at the time a world record fee of €105m.

His agent, Mino Raiola, was paid €27m for being an intermediary in the deal, but an investigation was opened to establish whether that constituted third party ownership.

According to the Football Leaks documents published by Mediapart and Der Spiegel, Topscore Sports Limited - Raiola's company - signed a contract with Juve on July 20, 2016.

That alleged contract noted that the agent had boosted Pogba’s profile, and should therefore be compensated were there to be a “bidding war”.

In the contract, Juve set a minimum price of €90m for their prize asset, with Raiola to receive a fixed amount of €18m for his services.

For every €5m above the minimum though, Raiola was to earn an additional €3m.

Mediapart claims that amounted to giving him part of Pogba’s ownership, and FIFA’s report, using its Transfer Matching System, alleged that Juventus violated regulations.

The team's captain has promised that her side will make title success despite their unfortunate loss to South Africa.

Onome Ebi says Nigeria will not return from the ongoing 2018 Africa Women's Cup of Nations in Ghana without the trophy despite their narrow opening defeat to South Africa.

The defending champions suffered their second Awcon defeat against South Africa following a strike from super-sub Chrestinah Kgatlana at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday.

And the captain, who played all through the 90 minutes against Banyana Banyana, apologised to Nigerians for their poor showing, while pledging to bounce back against Zambia on Wednesday.

“I want to say to Nigerians that we are very sorry for the loss against South Africa," Ebi told media.

"The players were down but now, I think we've motivated ourselves and we know why we are here and not here to lose but retain our title and qualify for the Women's World Cup.

"I plead with them not to give up on us but rather keep praying for us. We are not leaving here without the trophy.

"We are definitely coming back stronger and better. They should keep their trust in us that we are going to retain the title and qualify for the World Cup," she concluded.

Alexis Sanchez struck his 41st international goal for Chile as they defeated Honduras 4-1 on Tuesday night - with the hosts awarded three penalties.

They took an eighth-minute lead when Sanchez's header from a Jean Beausejour cross was saved by Luis Lopez, only for Arturo Vidal to tap home.

And Vidal doubled the lead 10 minutes before half-time, only for Alex Lopez to halve the deficit shortly afterwards.

Rashford, according to The Sun, is the latest forward to emerge as a candidate to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo at the Bernabeu and Madrid watched him play for England in Sunday's win over Croatia.
Scouts have also been at United games this season although 21-year-old Rashford has made only five Premier League starts for them.
The Spanish giants, who sold former United favourite Ronaldo to Juventus for £100m in the summer, would hope to land Rashford for around half that amount.
Rashford has scored twice for United this term - against West Ham and Bournemouth - and has at times been criticised by his manager Jose Mourinho. He appears to have gone backwards under the Portuguese but the Old Trafford chief does know the importance of keeping a homegrown player. Rashford's form for his country has been better - three goals in six games.

The British newspaper goes one step further and says that Denis has even given Arsenal the green light to try and negotiate a loan or permanent deal in January.
