PoliticsImpeachment Plot: Sponsors Exposed! by yanni1(op): 11:50am On Aug 15, 2012
THE fragile political situation in the country may be further eroded by a northern cabal which is clandestinely plotting the removal of President Goodluck Jonathan from office.
This cabal which consists of prominent and influential politicians, military officers and businessmen have sworn to achieve their objective at all cost between now and next year.Sources disclosed that the cabal has recruited some influential members of the House of Representatives to push their political desires to a boiling point.
“They have also made far-reaching incursion in the senate as some disgruntled senators have been successfully lured to the side of the cabal.”
National Daily sources disclosed that cabals are hiding under the contentious issues of non-implementation of budget and extra-budgeting spending to ventilate their grievancesagainst Jonathan. Some members of the cabal are those who feel that they have been short-changed in federal government appointments and contract awards, those who want their interest protected in government policies especially on budget implementation and those who are eager to take a desperate action in order to forestall Jonathan's speculated second term ambition.
“The group is afraid that if Jonathan stays longerin office, he will have the opportunity to improveon his positive performance as well as correct identified mistakes a situation which will make his chances at the poll brighter,” a competent source said, adding:“Those behind the plot to impeach Jonathan are greedy and egocentric politicians backed by some retired military officers from the northern region.”
Meetings
Sources said members of the cabal have held strategic meetings in north-west state of Kaduna and in Abuja at a guest house owned a prominent politician from the north-east.
“At one of the meetings held recently in Abuja which was attended by friendly National Assembly members, the cabal discussed the bribery.
Most of the attendants alleged that it was a plot by President Jonathan to humiliate one of the hitherto most credible politicians from the north;Lawan Farouk and ensure that his friend and financier of his presidential election campaign, Femi Otedola, was not indicted as one of the oil subsidy offenders. They also frowned at the alleged inclination of the government towards using the Farouk scandal to tarnish the image of House of Representatives the only arm of the National Assembly that has a modicum of credibility,” our insider source said, adding that, “At the end of that meeting, it was agreed that the House must do something to put the President on the defensive edge; the privilege ofaggression should be taken away from the president and force him to become the victim. The president according to the permutation of pro-Farouk elements will be brought to his knees and made to beg the National Assembly. This confrontational tactics will then give Faroukembattled Ad Hoc Committee Chairman a respiteto think of checkmating the damage to his reputation.”
The cabal, sources said is confident that their plot will succeed as the president has lost popular support from the National Assembly andamongst members of the Northern Governors Forum who are said to have an axe to grind with the president cover constitutional and policy matters. The northern governors may push representatives and senators from the north to sustain the impeachment plot against the president in order to prove a point.
Sponsors
National Daily competent source has revealed the identity of some of the powerful northernersbehind the move by the House of Representativeto impeach President Jonathan, they are said to be the source of finance and political mobilization. They include a presidential hopeful from Adamawa State, a former Head of State from north-central, some notable governors from the north led by the governor of a north-central state, some aggrieved leaders of the House of Representative led by principal actors in the $620,000 bribery scandal, ambitiousmembers of the Senate and some angry businessmen from the north.
National Daily learned that the cabal may have budgeted a whooping amount estimated to be between N5 billion to N10 billion to achieve their objective. Sources said the ugly way power can be assured to return to the north is to impeach Jonathan and replace him with Namadi Sambo, the Vice President.
“Some members of Representatives who are involved in the impeachment scheme are not necessarily doing it on principle; they have pecuniary interest in whole matter. I learned that some wealth northern politicians and retired Army Generals made a huge sum of money available to their agents to distribute to members of the House who agree to join the pro-impeachment camp.
The go-betweens having achieved great suites in the House of Representatives is said to have proceeding to the Senate where efforts are being made, at press time to convince the Senate to collaborate with the House of Representatives to impeach the president.
National Daily gathered that the presidency is disturbed by the latest plot against Jonathan and has allegedly mapped his survival strategy even as competent sources said that the House isdiscreetly complying what they called “PresidentJonathan's impeachable offences.”
The president's National Assembly Affairs Adviser, Joy Emordi, Political Adviser and one Senior Aide are said to have been mandated to meet with some reps and senators considered friendly to the presidency with a view to breaking the ranks of the National Assembly members. Jonathan has also agreed to make some concession to the Reps and Senators by acceding to their wishes but has not given assurance on the full implementation of the budget

PoliticsRe: If I Were President Of Nigeria! by yanni1(m): 2:11pm On Aug 13, 2012
Stallion77: hmmn...thats a great office indeed,i just tried to put my self in the shoes of being the President of this great Naija and wondered how it would feel like in this present time and the imaginations kept pouring in that one could go crazy!
I thought of the health sector, making the country malaria free...i just thot that was quite an impossible feat, then i also thot of the labour unions creeping up my a*se everytime someone i put in one sector to manage it messes up, then i thot of making sure the Nigerian image is not tarnished in world politics so that investors are not discouraged, then i thot of cabals of former presidents, and how to reduce their grip on the Nigerian economy & politics. Then i thought of making sure the military are well catered for, to make them always pro-democracy without thoughts of coup. Infact i am already tired of the job already by just mere thinking about it!
have you ever thought of being the president of Naija? what were your thots especially in her present situation? Try it.
sorry babe...you cant be, so stop worrying ur head.
