THE General Overseer of Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has said the only way Nigeria can grow and develop is to carry out a total cleansing, “the type that happened in Ghana.” Speaking at a press conference Sunday, Bakare said those who put the country in its present mess would not escape when God arrives to do the cleansing. “We need the Ghana treatment to send shock waves down the spines of everybody so that people would tip-toe when going into public office,” he said, enthusing that it remained “how God will do it.” In a message titled “The Head that refuses a life-giving rebuke will be thrown down the cliff of perdition”, Bakare expressed regret that the present administration has missed the right path long before now. “Until good governance is in place and credible people are not discouraged from playing clean politics, things would not change.” On the allegation by former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, at a lecture that the government squandered foreign reserves running to several billions of dollars, Bakare berated the government’s spokesmen and the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for chasing the shadow and leaving the substance. He said the CAN leadership failed to address the real issue on corruption but was chasing shadow. According to him, “CAN is expected to serve as the voice for the voiceless but it has turned itself into government appendage. It was the re-tweeting of figurative expression of Malam Nasir el-Rufai that the agents of diversion have latched onto in order to take our focus from the fundamental issues Ezekwesili raised and to which they have no answer.” He said rather than the government giving a lucid, reasoned and mature response to Ezekwesili, “it went into all manner of tirades against her person, virulently attacking the messenger while ignoring the message. This puerile approach must have incensed many Nigerians with sense of decency and propriety in public affairs.” http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=112415:only-ghana-style-of-cleansing-can-save-nigeria-says-bakare&catid=1:national&Itemid=559 |
I am of the opinion that public debates should be encouraged in this country...(pls don't sway to Ezenkwesili's matter o) let this two guys struggling over presidential. Ticket should settle their scores via public debate and let's see what their skull holds, let's see the substance they are made of... |
Guess why I like El Rufai, Simple.... the guy is a hustler! After making a lot of noise in the social media and did not clinch any favorable response last yr, he was smart enough to start writing a book...now that is plan B, am sure he has plan C up his sleeve. Give him some credit...lol |
Dear Almighty Sir, I don’t know what time it is in your area so I’ll simply say good day Sir. I’m very grateful for making me experience 2013 and I’m sorry for all my sins in 2012. I would have promised not to sin in 2013 but I don’t want to lie because you already know my future. Please help me be a better and more successful person this year. Also protect and bless my family, friends and fans. I hereby present some personal issues before you: Will Nigeria be better this year or ever? If no I seek your approval to go and take up citizenship somewhere else but if yes be fast before they empty our treasury and our oil wells run dry. Please help us with the exchange rate. Help the Naira catch up with the dollar. Have you relocated Hell to Nigeria? If no, what are Boko Haram and Kidnappers doing here? Do we allow GEJ do another term? If no please do something before we ‘Occupy Everywhere’. Adjust the brain of our youths so that their savings will end up in bank accounts not boutiques and night clubs. There are more diseases now than brands of condom available. What do we do? Urgent answer required. Please is your son coming soon? We have forgotten the meaning of true love since the last time he came. Please I need your BB pin if possible, I want to send you pictures and links of what pastors and government officials are doing with our money. I guess you already know. On behalf of my wife and children I say thank you. Yours Faithfully Okey ‘Bakassi’ Onyegbule http://citizensplatform.net/2013/01/read-comedian-okey-bakassi-writes-god/

General Electric said it will start assembling locomotives in Nigeria by next year. If that happens, it could save Nigeria some huge foreign exchange usually used in acquiring locomotives from Brazil. It will help rejuvenate Nigeria’s dying competencies in the railway sector and in growing the sector faster. Managing Director, Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) Mr. Seyi Sijuwade revealed at the weekend that the agreement the Federal Government signed with General Electric should come into force in 2013. Mr. Sijuwade stated these to our correspondent during the NRC’s first senior management staff retreat and award night in Lagos. President Goodluck Jonathan had said in his Democracy Day, May 29, address that government had signed an agreement with GE to assemble locomotives in Nigeria. Jonathan said the project would enhance the sustainability of the rail sector and make Nigeria a major hub in West and Central Africa. GE will be utilising NRCs existing workshops for the assembly plants. Mr. Sijuwade said: “GE will have to use NRC workshops because the rail lines are connected to our workshops. If you assemble elsewhere, you will have a challenge transporting the locos to the tracks. Also, our workshops will be improved by GE to modern workshops. “Why the assembly wouldn’t start just yet is that GE is also looking for investors and partners because they wouldn’t want to take all the risks alone. He said: “By next year, am sure, GE should have commenced work on the assembly facilities. But first, they also want to conduct independent track integrity on the new tracks we are building so that they would be confident the locomotives they are assembling will be put to use. “Nigeria’s commitment to GE is that, if they commence assembling the locomotives, we will buy at least 200 over the next 10 years. We need to make that commitment for GE to be assured of return on investment. It is a launch order. “But, the fact that we are making that launch order of 200 locos in the next 10 years isn’t a guarantee for any kind of price to be given us, we will still get the best deal for the offer,” he added. http://dailytrust.com.ng/index.php/business/183019-general-electric-to-begin-assembling-locomotives-in-nigeria |
