Politics › Re: Obi's Votes In 2027 Will Determine The Numbers Of Those That Love Nigeria. by yarimo(m): 5:30pm On Mar 21 |
But obi lost his polling unit in agulu village during last anambra state governorship election na 🤣 🤣 🤣 Omowale2023: If there is anything the 2027 election will expose, it is this: how many Nigerians genuinely care about the future of this country, and how many do not.
During the 2022/2023 campaign, Peter Obi made a blunt, unmistakable promise. He said he would fix Nigeria’s electricity within his first term, by any means necessary. He didn’t stop there. He openly challenged Nigerians: if he succeeded, they should vote for him for second term.
That was not political ambiguity. That was a contract.
Electricity is not a luxury in any serious nation, it is the backbone of economic growth, job creation, security, and basic human dignity. So when a candidate reduces his performance to such a clear benchmark, he removes every excuse. The standard becomes simple: deliver, or leave.
Now the reality is at the back of us. The promise was made loudly. The results are visible to everyone.
So the real question in 2027 is not about campaigns, slogans, or party loyalty. It is about integrity, both of leadership and of the electorate.
If Nigerians knowingly vote for a leader who set his own test and failed it, then we must be honest with ourselves: the problem is no longer just leadership. It is also the willingness of citizens to ignore accountability.
Because at that point, it is no longer about patriotism. It becomes something else entirely, loyalty to individuals, tribes, or interests over the survival and progress of the nation.
A country does not collapse overnight. It erodes when standards are abandoned. It declines when promises carry no consequences. It fails when citizens see the truth and choose to look away.
The 2027 election, therefore, is not just another political cycle. It is a national test.
A test of whether Nigerians are ready to demand results. A test of whether words still matter. A test of whether failure still has consequences. And most importantly, a test of whether we are serious about building a country that works, or comfortable defending one that doesn’t. |
