6 Types of Stocks Explained: 1) Growth Companies that reinvest all of their earnings into themselves to facilitate the growth of short/long term internal projects. Likely in the technology industry. Examples: Shopify, Zoom, Facebook, Netflix 2) Cyclical Companies that move with the economy. They usually sell products or services that consumers tend to buy more of when the economy is booming and less when the economy is in recession. Examples: Norwegian Cruise Line, American Airlines, the Big 5 Canadian Banks 3) Blue Chip Companies with excellent reputations who have been around for a long time, have stable earnings and typically pay out dividends to investors. You'll want to hold these companies if you're a dividend investor. Examples: IBM, Coca-Cola, 3M 4) Speculative Companies with large potential upsides but similar potential downsides. Extremely volatile and will add extra risk to your portfolio. If you have the stomach for it, do it. If not, don't waste your time or money. Examples are typically opinion-based. 5) Defensive A defensive stock is one that provides consistent and stable earnings regardless of what the market is doing. These are the companies that sell products and services people NEED & WANT 365 days of the year. Examples: Walmart, McDonald's, AT&T, Verizon 6) Dividend Saving my favorite for last. Dividend stocks are companies that pay out a portion of their earnings to their shareholder every month or quarter so you can start building up a juicy stream of passive income. Examples: RioCan, Realty Income, 3M, Scotiabank, Coca-Cola As you can see, some companies fit in multiple categories. But if you're going to take 1 thing away from this, it's that you should be diversifying by "type" of stock and not just by industry. |
Try dey sell on your way up, dips n dey finish As a long term holder, here are effective strategy to take profit. •Have preset levels of TP from your TA even before buying. Emphasis on the “levels”. You can DCA out just as you DCA in •When market moves in your favour, respect your preset TP levels and stick to ‘em •Don’t aim to sell at the exact top as that endeavor is futile |
90% of your problems will leave if you build a passive income stream |

Good day, ladies and gents! As you may have noticed, the scope of our community is enlarging. As such, in addition to our traditional TA/signals, we are now adding various educational, news, and macro/fundamental resources. For as long as WT has been around, we focused on bringing you timely, non-biased, and non-shill trading information without any external voices/partnerships etc. This remains unchanged and will always remain a priority for our team. However, as we get a lot of requests from the community, we are now considering an expansion to our voice chat and Youtube segments in the form of bringing guest speakers. As we see it, this would be done in the pre-scheduled AMA/interview format in our voice chat where we will occasionally host guests/speakers from reputable crypto related communities and developer teams. No shilling, no shady startups, no pump and dumps, no influencer type shenanigans. Just news, entertainment and introducing various segments of the crypto world, e.g. reputable representatives from various networks (erc/bsc/sol etc.) and various project types (passive income and defi/nft/network-specific launchpad communities etc.) to show you, our members, what is out there in the crypto world and to help you navigate it successfully. As said above, we are 100% committed to our traditional non-bias/non-shill model and the potential AMA's would simply be an additional layer of news/entertainment for the community. However, we understand that despite the aforesaid transparency and non-bias orientation, bringing external voices may still not settle well with some members. Thus, we want you, as a community, to decide on the implementation of these ideas. Sooo, what say you? Let us know in the poll posted in the Telegram group |
Clearly alot of people don't have a strategy playbook for investing and it seems like FOMO and herd mentality is the order of the day. The Nigerian stock market is still a gold mine if you understand the market and watch trends. The same market where people made over 150% ROI on selected dividend paying stocks between March and December of last year and traders even more within the same period Understand your risk profile (i.e amount of risk you are willing to carry on your portfolio without running helter-skelter) Understand the industry/sector/ quoted company you are planning to invest in. Always buy when people are selling that way you are getting a bargain and sell when they are buying Use cost averaging to spread the purchase price. Have a trading strategy is (i.e growth vs value vs dividend paying or a combo of the trio) and portfolio diversification/holding strategy And finally have an exit plan irrespective of the state of the market (bears or bull) And before I forget Tesla just offloaded circa 25% of its B.T.C holdings. |
