PoliticsTribunal Verdict: My Victory Is For Democracy, Bayelsans - Dickson by yenboy(op): 8:17pm On Jul 26, 2016
Tribunal verdict: My victory is for democracy, Bayelsans - Dickson

Governor Henry Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State had applauded the judgment of Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja which upheld his victory in the December 5 2016 governorship election describing it "a victory for democracy and Bayelsans."

The governor in a statement issued on Tuesday evening by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, also commended the judiciary "for upholding our nation’s democracy and once again acquitting itself as the bastion of our democracy."

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Timipre Sylva, had challenged the election of Dickson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking a reversal of the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which declared him as the valid winner of the election.

But in a unanimous decision, the three-man tribunal, led by Justice Kazeem Aloba, said the APC failed woefully to prove its case. The tribunal consequently dismissed Sylva’s petition and upheld Dickson’s election as earlier declared by INEC.

The governor, according to Iworiso-Markson, praised Bayelsans for voting for him and his party on conviction and stood to protect their votes. The governor, who regretted the loss of lives and property during the election, decried the “intimidation of voters” which he regarded as a failure of institution.

Dickson, however, said that the judgement indicated that "the resolve of the people did not go in vain" as he canvassed for “greater vigilance to protect democracy” in the country.

He said, “We want to use this opportunity to thank the good people of Bayelsa State for voting en-masse for the PDP and defending their votes even in the face of such virulent intimidation and harassment. This judgement is clearly a victory for democracy and the resilient and courageous people of Bayelsa."

The governor also commended the judiciary for its role as the defender of the constitution, saying that without a fearless and independent judiciary, democracy is imperiled. According to him, it was not the election that was on trial per se but the judiciary itself, adding that the judgement of the tribunal validated the saying that the judiciary is the last hope of the common man.

PoliticsA Call For Collective Action To Protect And State Out Position In The Nigerian by yenboy(op): 9:37am On Jul 25, 2016
A call for collective action to protect and state out position in the Nigerian state by IJAW YOUTH GROUPS.

Time has never been friendly with anybody and this is what has made men of strategy and brilliance to always make hay while the sun shines. The continuous attack on our soil and our people by the fulani hegemony and it's collaborators is no longer a matter of press statements alone. It's time we come together under the auspices of ijaw amalgamated to take a position and put action to it before we become completely decimated.

Its also time we address the issues of internal disharmony and grave betrayals that has become a common feature in our midst. It's time we demand from the govt of the day basic premises of continuous stay and engagement in this false and unconsented union, Nigeria.

We must make haste and do the needful. We can no longer pretend that all is well with our dear Nation called ijaw land. We can no longer pretend that we live peacefully within the ambit of the law without continuous policies and actions that tends to potray us as a conquered or second class citizens in a country we have paid enormous price for its existence and sustainability.

We must confront our woes and our fears. We must take critical decisions no matter how painful and sacrificial it will become . We must say NO to this continuous attempt at subjugation of our land and people.

We have showed leadership when we were given the opportunity and we don't expect less from the Fulani government. Ijaw youths arise and let us redefine this union and make our tomorrow better. Let us go there and let the preliminaries begin.

To our dear leader's, you must stand with us and take the bull by its horn . There would be no room for pranks because to play it is to dedicate the future of our children and your children condemned to eternally servitude. All hands must be on deck. LET US BEGIN THE ENGAGEMENT.

PoliticsNiger Delta People’s Congress (ndpc) Condemns Arrest Of Jones Abiri by yenboy(op): 9:57pm On Jul 24, 2016
NIGER DELTA PEOPLE’S CONGRESS (NDPC) CONDEMNS ARREST OF JONES ABIRI, URGE DSS TO FOLLOW DUE PROCESS

PRESS RELEASE

Our attention has been drawn to the announcement of the Department of State Service (DSS) that it had arrested a key Militant leader Jones Abiri, who was arrested on July 21 in Yenagoa.

We wish to condemn in strong terms the way and manner the DSS invaded the publishing house of Jones Abiri in Yenagoa in the most unattractive style, such unattractive style is a reminiscent of President Buhari days as the Head of state during his first stint before he was overthrown.

It took the press release of the DSS to allay our fears that Abiri was abducted by unknown gunmen. We urge the DSS to follow due process in carrying out its operations.

Jones Abiri is a highly respected renowned personality in the Ijaw community and a law abiding citizen. As such, we find the press release of the DSS stating that it has arrested “the Militant leader of the Joint Revolutionary Council and the Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force” disrespectful and wish to condemn such disparaging terms as the DSS is not a court duly established by law to impute or find any individual guilty of any crime.

We wish to categorically state that Jones Abiri is innocent until proven guilty, and as such, be accorded the with the right to dignity of human person as contained in section 34 of the Constitution. We are stating this with particular reference to the persecution of Azibaloa Robert who was treated like a common criminal by the Buhari led administration but was later vindicated of any crime by a court of competent jurisdiction.

We the Niger Delta People’s Congress wish to register our displeasure with the persecution being carried out by the Buhari led administration against son’s, daughter’s, father’s, and mother’s of the Niger Delta region. With the activities of the Niger Delta Avengers that has fast tracked the Nigeian economy into rescission, we urge the Federal Government to adopt a more productive dispute resolution method than intimidating and harassing sons and daughters of the region.

The Federal Government cannot claim to be negotiating with Militants and still be carrying out systematic arrest of people from the region. The persecution of the already traumatised people of the Niger Delta region is uncalled for.

Signed:
Comrade Ogidi Ben Bara aka OBB, National President on behalf of NDPC.

PoliticsGangsters In The Upper House: The Shame Of Dino Melaye And Oluremi Tinubu by yenboy(op): 11:59pm On Jul 23, 2016
GANGSTERS IN THE UPPER HOUSE: THE SHAME OF DINO MELAYE AND OLUREMI TINUBU

By Anthony Obi Ogbo

The adage that one can take the man out of the slum, but cannot take the slum out of the man may sound derogatory, but basically denotes the role behavior plays in the living standards. Good character and governance are inseparable as fundamental hallmarks of performance effectiveness. Behavior might essentially outline how public servants engage themselves, the people, and their responsibilities to better serve their constituents. Thus, to the public servant, integrity as the seal of the moral intellect remains a vital trait in sustaining organizational success. Unfortunately and most ironically, these values of moral maturity have been totally ignored in the very public service cultures where they are most needed.Recently in the Nigerian Senate, the activities of public affairs have been drenched in a bitter feud between two supposedly honorable members of the All Progressive Congress, Senators Oluremi Tinubu, (Lagos Central) and Dino Melaye (Kogi West). In the past weeks, both lawmakers have fought tangibly in the most violent manner, and at some point engaged in verbal cruelty of each other. They further took their bouts to the streets among hired tugs and rented hungry protesters; and to make it worse, engaged various media houses in their conflicts.

Melaye had initially presented himself as an anti-graft campaigner whereas his lifestyle and activities of the public reflects the opposite. He might also be familiar with issues of women abuse. For example, Melaye’s ex-wife of 10 years, Tokunbo was said to have filed for divorce with shocking claims that he beat her up and pointed a gun to her head.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu on her own part is not as angelic as she might look. Besides being the wife of a former Lagos State governor, she has no concrete public service record; yet she has remained an embarrassment in the Upper House; displaying an extended cord of gutter attitudes. She has made her case as an undomesticated bully. For instance, her character toward honorable colleagues she does not agree with illustrates her gangster demeanor – a combination of street arrogance and primitivism.
In June 2015, Tinubu made the headlines when she snubbed an official greeting of the newly emerged Senate President, Mr. Saraki during the swearing in of some lawmakers. November 2015, Tinubu again made the headlines when she sat on the seat reserved for deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu in a legislative session. She created this ugly scene and as usual kept media outlets busy with her stupidity.

The Senate is not flea market; it is not an amusement park either. It is a legislative chamber of the parliament accorded with very critical duties and responsibilities of the government. In a country currently on the verge of economic recession borne out of a derail in the political system supervision, the least anybody would expect from lawmakers would be about members brawling over issues that are absolutely unrelated to the affairs of the government. As stated earlier, trawling out a man out of a gutter is one thing, but taking the gutter out of the man remains a near mission impossible. There are many Tinubus and Melayes elected or appointed into the Nigeria’s public service system, and the masses, as usual, would continue to suffer the consequence.

PoliticsImpunity And Tyranny Occasioned By President Muhammadu Buhari's Administration by yenboy(op): 11:35pm On Jul 23, 2016
See the Alleged Impunity and tyranny occasioned by President Muhammad Buhari's administration against the people of Niger Delta (Must Read)
In all honesty, would not be fair to talk about none-Ijaws who attacks and offends the Ijaw Nation and Her Citizens without talking about unpatriotic, backstabbing and ungrateful Ijaw Citizens whose mission is to destroy the Ijaw Nation and Her Citizens by working as undercover cover agents for the Fulani Jihadists Administration whose mission is to permanently relegate Ethnic Nationalities of the Niger Delta particularly the Ijaw Nation to the economic, political and social background of Nigeria.

It has come to the notice of the Ijaw Nation, how an Ijaw Citizen Mr. Micheal Jonny who hails from Okrenkoko Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom and the Chairman of Egbema/Gbaramatu Development Council assisted the Minister of Transport Mr Rotimi Chibuike Ameachi (An Ikwere Citizen) in collaboration with an Itshekiri Citizen Mr Ayiri Emami and another Urhobo Citizen Mr Jaro Agbo to one amongst other things, set up High Chief Government Tompolo The Ebe-EbidouOwei 1 of the Ijaw Nation and to frustrate the Maritime University at Okrenkoko. This conspiracy led to the military invasion of Gbaramatu Kingdom in which more than 4 persons were killed, more than 3 women were raped, properties worth billions were destroyed/looted and finally the Palace of the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom was invaded even his temple of Indigenous worship was vandalized and looted.

Hon. Simeon Bebenimo

As if that is not enough, Mr Micheal Jonny who is also a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and his blood younger brother Ebiye Obolo Jonny, started leading men of the DSS and the Military all Northerners in a 'Commando Style' to the houses of other Ijaw Citizens in crackdown to obtain the whereabout of High Chief Government Tompolo. One of the victims of the crack down is Hon. Simeon Bebenimo who is a Member of Delta State Security and Water Ways Committee. They called Hon. Bebenimo around 9.30pm in the night to demand from him the way about of High Chief Tompolo. The young man said he does not know only for the duo to arrive Hon. Bebenimo's house by 12pm that night with a combined team of DSS/Military who shot their way in to his house and bundled him to Warri Barracks. On arriving Warri Barracks, the young man was subjected to all manners of torture and beatings the combined forces could think of.

Mr. Micheal Jonny

Following this ugly development, the SpokesMan of Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative Comrade Daniel Ezekial made a statement that such action is wrong. This statement which Comrade Ezekial made on his Facebook handle got Mr Micheal Jonny infuriated. He then called Comrade Ezekial with this number (08094999999, a very devilish number we must say) and issued a very fiery threat that he will kill Comrade Ezekial and nothing will happen, that after all he is a staunch member of the APC and that the powers that be, covers him. That in case Comrade Ezekial should know, that he is the one that is responsible for the arrest and subsequent torture of Hon. Simeon Bebenimo. That Comrade Ezekial will be the next but that his own will be different because he will be killed once captured and that all his details has been submitted to the special squad made of Northern Muslims who would not listen to any plea or anybody in the entire Niger Delta.

We would like to say that the Ijaw Nation has take cognizance of this threat from one of their own and would not treat it lightly and that no Citizen of the Ijaw Nation will take the security of other Citizens for granted or even plan with Fulani Jihadists and Muslim Soldiers and the DSS to illegally, unlawful, forcefully abduct and take hostage of other Ijaw Citizens, assist them to destroy Ijaw Nation and frustrate infrastructural development and expect to get away with it. That will not happen because the Ijaw Nation will muster every capacity it has got to deal with the issue drastically and down to the last letter. The Ijaw Nation is a Federating Contingent of the Nigerian State and no formation of soldiers or security operative will be allowed to intimidate or box us in to a tight corner as well as disrespect us. Ijaw Citizens are by this post expected to behave themselves and be patriotic to their Father's Land irrespective of their political affiliations because it will do us no good to betray Our Father's Land..........Haaaaaaaa Izoooon, Izon Keme Emiaaaahuh!!!

Comrade Daniel Ezekial

NB: Below is Mr. Micheal Jonny dressed in a Fulani regalia. Hon. Simeon Bebenimo in black shirt and white cap and Comrade Daniel Ezekial in suite.

Health700 Pregnant Women Infected, 300 Infants Exposed To HIV In Bayelsa by yenboy(op): 10:31am On Jul 14, 2016
700 pregnant women infected, 300 infants exposed to HIV in Bayelsa
A United State based non-governmental organization known as PACT yesterday declared that out of the 50,000 pregnant women tested in Bayelsa State for the Mother to Child Transmission of HIV/AIDS, 700 pregnant women were placed on antiretroviral prophylaxis and 300 HIV infants exposed.

Mr. Trevor Maisiri, the Nigeria’s Director of Pact, who made this known during the launch of the second phase of the community, based Prevention of Mother to child Transmission of HIV/AIDS (PROMOT 11) project, said the first phase which lasted four years, he said 294,000 were reached with HIV messages, over 50, 000 pregnant women tested for HIV and received their results, while almost 691 pregnant women placed on antiretroviral prophylaxis.

He also disclosed that over 700 people has so far been trained on the latest Prevention of Mothers to Child Transmission (PMTCT) tactics and techniques, while 300 HIV exposed infants were tested for HIV at six weeks.

According to Maisiri, the PACT as an organization has been working with the Bayelsa state government with funding from Chevron to increase community awareness of the dreaded disease.

Maisiri said with 1.4 million dollars funding from Chevron, the PROMOT 11 projects is expected to test over 2, 000 pregnant women from three local government areas in Bayelsa state for HIV and at the same time building the capacity of community structures of governance to achieve healthcare performance.

He said by using Pact’s integrated approach of capacity development and support/strengthening of government systems, they were able to set a sustainable, community based program that will continue to build PROMOT services beyond the life span of the project.

Maisiri also stated that, “In the first phase which lasted four years, he said 294,000 were reached with HIV messages, over 50, 000 pregnant women tested for HIV and received their results, while almost 691 pregnant women placed on antiretroviral prophylaxis.”

He a disclosed that over 700 people has so far been trained on the latest Prevention of Mothers to Child Transmission (PMTCT) approaches and techniques, 300 HIV exposed infants were tested for HIV at six weeks.

“In order to consolidate on the feats of PROMOT and in furtherance of its corporate responsibility and value for partnership, Chevron has again provided funds for Pact to implement a second phase of the project, tagged PROMOT 11.This project will run for two years until April 2018”; he emphasized.

Speaking at the occasion, General Manager, Policy Government and Public Affairs (PGP) of Chevron Nigeria Limited, Deji Haastrup, said PROMOT 1 was a huge success as the project helps in the reduction of Bayelsa state’s prevalence rates from 9.1% to 3.8% in 2010, the third best in the country.

Represented by Esimaje Brikin, the company’s Area Manager, West, Nr. Haastrup applauded the phase of the program, saying that the concept was a private sector led social sustainable, community based initiative meant for the people of Niger Delta.

He said, “Chevron Nigeria Limited, operator of the NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture, is honored to have aligned with Pact and the Bayelsa state government in PROMOT initiative. We are equally proud of the tremendous successes recorded by the first phase which, no doubt, were as a result of our collective commitments to improving healthcare delivery and by extension the quality of life of the people of the Bayelssa state and the Niger Delta.”

The Permanent Secretary, Bayelsa state Ministry of Health, Dr. Kojo Omietimi, and thanked Chevron Nigeria Limited for sponsoring the project, saying that the program came at an ideal time.

PoliticsSILGA Council Boss Commences Payment Of Teachers’ Salaries Amidst Protest by yenboy(op): 11:34pm On Jul 11, 2016
SILGA Council Boss commences payment of Teachers’ salaries amidst protest.
Vehicular and commercial activities were grounded Monday in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital, following the peaceful protest by teachers and non-academic staffs of primary schools in Southern Ijaw Local Government area over non-payment of their seven months’ salary arrears since December 2015 and alleged diversion of allocation.

The workers took to the streets to express their grievances over what they described as a deliberate attempt by the council boss to witch-hunts those perceived to have worked for the opposition party during the last governorship elections in the state.

The workers barricaded the road to the popular Swali market and the UBA banks where salaries were paid other workers whose appointments were before 2008, and disrupted free flow of traffic for hours.

While lamenting their plight, some of the protesters said life had become “So unbearable as they can no longer carter for their loved ones and due to their unpaid salaries.” Some said we have been employed since 2008 and nobody complained but why now? The government has been paying us salaries for the past four year not until the last general elections.

According to a teacher, Mr. Abraham Young, of St. Barnabas School, from Oweikorogha community, stated that the suddenly action by the council chairman to stop their payment and accuse them of being illegally employed was wrong, noting that after several verifications the next thing is to call them fake workers.

He stated that despite their immense contribution to the educational sector of the state, they were still taken for granted, adding that how they fend with their families after a long wait for salaries and nothing positive has happened.

Another affected worker, Mr. Apollo Simon Gidi, from the post primary school board, said for eight years now he has been working without any challenge but when he heard the announcement on the radio about the payment of teachers he was rather sad when the chairman said those employed as at 2008 will have their appointments terminated.

“The termination of our appointment was not on any basic, we were employed by the state government through the normal procedure of employment, why will they come now and call us fake workers, I must take them to industrial court”

Addressing the crowd, the council chairman, Hon. Joshua Maciver, faulted the accusation of witch hunting those affected, noting that the appointment procedures for those employed from 2008 till date was wrong and illegal.

He submitted that his predecessors employed workers without the approval by government, adding that those affected were supposed to be arrested and prosecuted rather than protesting on the streets and disturbing the peace of others because they defrauded the state for years.

Maciver appealed to others workers who were been verified by the officers of the council to be patient with the government, saying efforts were on to pay their salaries up to 3 months after the one month that were been paid them.

THE NEED TO CLOSE RANKS IN IJAW LAND AS A STRATEGIC NEED TO ATTAIN MAXIMUM SUSTAINABILITY AND DEVELOPMENT.
By Owoupele Jeremiah

When our fore fathers lived the ijaw land they operated peacefully with herself and made appreciable progress. The unity in them afforded them to progress without any obstacle relatively. Today we practice a democracy and party politics is an essential element . Thus we have our people divided among different party. Not long ago the PDP had a fair share of government patronage as it produced the President from 1999 till 2015 . Thus our people who had the opportunity to get some appointments and impacted their societies differently.

The level may be different and may be disputed in certain cases. But what’s paramount is that the majority of our people were aligned to the PDP. However today, the APC has formed the government and fortunately some of our people who were bold and visionary against the prevailing trend pitched her tent with the party which had relatively less chances of winning the incumbent government of PDP.

But sceptics were proved wrong when the party won the elections and today Buhari is president. Today we are fighting everyday over petty party issues instead of hernessing the privilege and get what is due our region state or people. What is significant is that whether APC or PDP our people will always be there at the receiving end.

We must close rank and support our people in APC while they provide leadership to enable us come up with strategic plan to make IJAWLAND a better place. While we agree that we are people of different political affiliations and persuasions we must be mindful of the greater dangers of our continued disagreements and political battles.

The parties will go as NPN and UPN. We must be wise to make good use of this opportunity. While the party lines will be maintained for the purpose of our striving democracy, this should not stop us from adopting the yorubas approach and get meaningful benefits from the APC led government. Let us embrace one another another and adopt civility in our positions. Let us make peace and begin to draw a strategic plan to help ijaw people.

Our loses as we keep fightingg is enormous and it will cost us even more if we continue. While we must support gov Dickson to make bayelsa a better place let us extend the same support to the leaders of APC and have our most patriotic interest secured. This is strategic to our goals as a Nation of ijaw people. Let us see beyond the things that divde us and strengthen our relationship to make a better Ijaw Nation.

Gov. Dickson,Okowa not sponsors of Niger Delta Avengers, Others

The Chairman of the Brass Local Government Council Area of Bayelsa State,Hon. Bello Bina weekend exonerated the State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson and his Delta State counterpart, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa from the activities of Militant groups led by the Niger Delta Avengers, saying both Governors are not sponsors of attacks on oil and gas facilities in the region.

Hon. Bello Bina, whose Brass Local Government Council play host to oil facilities and platforms owned by major Oil multinationals, said though the activities of the New Militants are affecting Delta and Bayelsa States, the claims that the Governors of Bayelsa and Delta are involved with the Niger Delta Avenger is false and a political lie fabricated by aggrieved politicians.

The Council Boss, who made this position known on Sunday in Yenagoa while reacting to recent cases of attacks on oil and gas pipelines in the area, said the council has discovered that most of the attacks and frivolous claims are sponsored to discredit the Governors, "No Governor is involved in bombing of pipelines. If pipelines are attacked, it affects the state as much as it affects the Federal Government."

“Why would a state government undo himself in terms funding needed for development. The Two Governors are known to have zero tolerance to crime and criminality. The advice to the APC led Federal Government is that only dialogue can resolve the issues with new militants."

"The other day, some persons claiming to be militants threatened to attack Bayelsa Governors over payment of 50 per cent salary to workers in the state. These are not statement from true Ijaw people. What a true Ijaw man does is to support the state Governor to succeed and not discredit him.

Those who issued the threats are not militants but sponsored youths." Hon. Bello Bina, who was also a former Member of the State Peace and Conflict Resolution Committee, said investigations conducted by the Security unit of Council showed that most of the Bomb attacks purportedly claimed by the Niger Delta Avengers were false, “85 percent of the pipe attacks were carried out by delinquents and not Niger Delta Avengers."

“As we know about the ones carried out by the Niger Delta Avengers, we know about the once bombed by criminals out to discredit the state government. We will fish them out. These criminals are attacking the oil pipes because of political differences. "

Bina hinted that the surveillance report submitted to the council leadership has revealed the identity of the criminals involved in the attacks," and we have placed the criminals under investigation and their personality will be revealed soon."

Chief Fred Agbedi, who the former PDP Chairman in Bayelsa state, told our reporter in Yenagoa at the weekend that the delay by the Federal Government to commence work on the clean-up exercise is fraudulent and a Photo Trick, “the Federal Government said it is embarking on the clean-up of Ogoni land, Up till now, no equipment and personal have been deployed for the clean-up,It is a mere photo trick to mislead Ogoni people and Nigerians at large.”

Agbedi blamed the financial and economic strategies of the President Buhari administration for the hardship being faced by Nigerians,”If drastic measures are not taken, it may turn the nation into crises. Chief Frederick Yeitiemone Agbedi also hinted that he and many other National Assembly members will soon sponsor a Bill for a Referendum, insisting that true federalism and resource control will be the main focus as a solution to the socio-economic challenges being faced by the nation.

According to him,” The Minister of Solid Minerals, Dr. Kayode Fayemi will appear before us and say one of his challenges was that of illegal miners and that the Federal Government is working out ways to organise those that can be encouraged into Cooperatives. But when it comes to the Niger Delta region and our people refining our crude, they call it economic sabotage”

“They don’t see anything good in us .But our resources which they feel belong to them, with that posture there will be no peace .I am hungry and am Bayelsan, you will get no peace o”

The President of the Isoko Youths Dynamic Association, Mr. Jamnogo Blessing and members of his group have denied the claims that they are part of the Avengers militant group carrying out attacks on the oil installations in the Niger Delta Region.

In a statement signed by the President,Mr. Jamnogo and made available to newsmen the group described the report published by a UK based magazine, “the Economist”,on the 23rd of June,2016 which stigmatized Jamnogo as a gang leader who came to Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital to purchase arms from Ex-Agitators with a ploy to attacking oil facilities in his Idheze Community of Delta State as malicious, misconstrued and an attempt to set him and his group up against the Federal Government, Delta State and Idheze community adding that the magazine reporter lacks in her professional ethics how to report the Niger Delta events.
According to Mr. Jamnogo, he is the President of a social-political and a non-militant group in Delta State,” the Isoko Youth Dynamic Association whose goal is to canvass for the welfare and security of not only its members but that of his community and the entire Delta State.

The group calls on the general public especially the Idheze community and Delta State indigenes at home and in diaspora to disregard the said publication while urging the publishers if the magazine to retract the report and render an apology to the President of the group, Mr. Jamnogo Blessing, the Isoko Youth Dynamic Association, Idheze community, Delta State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria for the alleged character defamation.

PoliticsMOSOP Commences Mass Action Against Resumption Of Oil Production In Ogoni by yenboy(op): 1:44am On Jun 25, 2016
MOSOP through its youth wing, the National Youth Council of the Ogoni People (NYCOP) today commenced direct mass action against immediate resumption of oil extraction in Ogoniland to drum up her opposition to the vexatious oil resumption pursuit.

NYCOP peacefully and non-violently protested at the premises of Novotel hotel in Port Harcourt where the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company Limited (NPDC) and its Ogoni collaborators attempted to hold a fake workshop, which objective was geared towards brain-washing and bribing uninformed Ogonis to support their devious plan. The youths barricaded the entrance to the hotel and prevented vehicles and visitors from entering or leaving the hotel.

They sang songs hailing the majority position supporting implementation of the UNEP report on Ogoniland and as well rained opposition against moves to resume oil extraction in the community.

They also carried placards some of which read: “NPDC, Ogoni vultures leave Ogoni oil in the ground”, “No to oil production in Ogoni now, we want our environment re-mediated and restored”, “NPDC, if we die you are responsible” and “Ogoni oil is not for sale.”

Speaking to the press, the president of NYCOP and leader of the demonstrators, Dr. Young Nkpah said:

“The activities of NPDC in Ogoni is aimed at creating division that would occasion avoidable crisis in the region. When we are talking about revival of our hydrocarbon polluted environment, they are canvassing for commencement of oil production now in Ogoni, a matter that had caused the death of a generation of the Ogoni leadership including sung and unsung Ogoni citizens. If this is not the case, how would one explain the situation where the federal government as flagged-off implementation of the Ogoni environmental rejuvenation exercise and the corporation is on the other hand luring gullible Ogonis to sanction its intent of resuming oil production in Ogoni now?.

He warned NPDC and her Ogoni collaborators to stay away from the community as the Ogoni people would resist them even with the last drop of our blood. He emphasized that they will continue the protests until justice is achieved”.

“It is disappointing the level of involvement of local politicians belonging to one of the dominant political parties in the area. We are concerned that these politicians have always ganged up against the collective interest of our people.

Evidence abound that these political actors and their cronies have openly denounced and fought against the legitimate, just and credible struggle for justice of the Ogoni people but would now want to reap from where they did not sow or what they hate”.

“We therefore call on the federal government and all men of goodwill and justice to prevail on NPDC to stop forthwith its attempts to cause trouble in Ogoni”.
