Twitter users have been shocked after a couple revealed they are in a relationship even though they are first cousins and want to put an end to the stigma surrounding incest.

@Lilmarche took to her Twitter to reveal the controversial relationship.

The couple tweeted several photos of themselves, including one of them kissing and another where they were smoking blunt, and they revealed they’ve been in love since they were kids but had to hide their relationship because their mothers are blood sisters.

Anoda Update From YGORC

A 35-year-old mother, Maryam Nura, and her three-year-old son died from a fire that razed a building they resided, at the Gandun Albasa-Bala Burodo line community, a Kano municipality.

The Kano State Fire Service confirmed the incident in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Saminu Abdullahi, on Friday, June 3rd in Kano. Abdullahi explained that the incident happened on Thursday night, June 2nd.

“We received a distress call at about 2:07 a.m. from one Ibrahim Ashiru and immediately sent our rescue team to the scene at about 2:11 a.m. The building, a five-room bungalow of about 75ft by 75ft in dimension, was completely razed down by the inferno.”he said

Abdullahi said that the victims were confirmed dead after they were brought out unconscious and handed over to Inspector Shehu Lawan of Kwali Police Station, who rushed them to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital.

Mother abandons newborn baby with placenta still attached in Bauchi

A newborn baby boy with his placenta still attached was abandoned in the Sarkin Kudu area of Bogoro local government area, Bauchi State.

The baby was found naked on a rock with his placenta still attached on Thursday, June 2.

Speaking to journalists on Friday, June 3, a Social Worker in the area, said that the baby was found by residents of the area who are now taking care of the baby.

She said: "Our office received a report yesterday (Thursday) that a newborn baby boy was abandoned in Sarkin Kudu. Before we got there the newborn baby had been picked up by one of the women in the area who had started taking care of him.

"He is now doing well and in good condition. We have also informed the security agents and investigation is ongoing to get the mother of the baby."

Confirming the incident, PPRO of the Bauchi State Police Command, SP Ahmed Wakil, said that some farmers had reported the case to a police station in the area.

The social worker, who expressed appreciation to the people of the area and the woman who found and took care of the baby, appealed to the mother of the baby to come and claim her newborn baby, adding that the social welfare office of the local government will continue to take care of the baby until investigations are completed and the mother of the baby found.

He said: "Yesterday, June 2nd, 2022, at about 8.30am, some good samaritans went to the Bogoro Divisional Police Headquarters and reported that on their way to the farm, they discovered an abandoned baby crying in an uncompleted building.

"On receiving the complain, the DPO and his team of officers and men moved to the scene and took the abandoned baby to the Bogoro General Hospital for medical checkup.

"After the medical doctors certified that the baby is healthy, they handed the baby to the Social Welfare Department of Bogoro Local Government Area.

"Investigation has begun and will be expanded in order to get the mother of the baby to know why she abandoned the baby in that manner."

Black Thursday; final year student in Bayelsa Has Been Killed By Some Suspected Armed Robbers

Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers have shot dead a final year Physics student of the Federal University Otuoke (FUO) in Bayelsa State.

The student identified simply as Bright, was robbed and murdered in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, June 1, at his residence along Block Industry, Imiringi Road in Yenagoa.  

It was gathered that the robbers broke into his apartment and in attempt to resist them, he was shot.

A 38-year-old man, Ebuka Enuma, was on Tuesday docked in a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ court in Lagos for alleged possession of a human skull.

Ebuka, who resides in Bariga area of Lagos, is charged with unlawful possession of human part.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Rita Momah, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 13, at Amukoko Cemetery.

Momah alleged that the defendant broke into the cemetery and excavated an old grave and stole the skull.

She said that the defendant was arrested while trying to leave the cemetery.

The offence, she said, contravenes the provisions of Section 238 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

Chief Magistrate Adeola Adedayo admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N300,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until June 28 for mention. (NAN).

A police inspector, Monday Gabriel, has been arraigned before the Lagos State High Court for allegedly killing his colleague, Sergeant Felix Okago.

The accused was arraigned on Tuesday, May 31st, on one count of murder.

The prosecution, led by L.S. Sani, said Gabriel shot the victim to death on May 31, 2020, adding that the offence was punishable under Section 222 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The charge read, “That you, Monday Gabriel, on or about 13th of May 2020, around 4.30am at FIRS Head Office, Awolowo Way, Ikoyi, in the Lagos judicial district, did unlawfully kill one Sergeant Felix by shooting him dead with a gun."

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Justice Sherifat Sonaike adjourned the case till October 26 for trial.

The accused on that fateful day, went berserk and opened fire on his colleagues, after a disagreement ensued between them, leading to the death of Okago while others escaped without injuries.

In an attempt to escape, the officer took a patrol van and headed towards third mainland bridge, shooting as he was escaping. He was subsequently intercepted by officers at Bariga.

It was also gathered that no fewer than 30 bullets were shot by the officer.

“On 31/5/2020 at about 0430 hours, Area A Command received a distress call that one Inspector Monday Gabriel from No 21 Police Mobile Force Squadron Abuja, on Special duty in a Federal Government facility in Ikoyi Lagos, went berserk and started shooting sporadically," the Lagos State Police Command had disclosed in a statement.

"One Sergeant Felix Okago who was on Special duty with the Inspector, died from the gunshot injuries while others escaped unhurt. In an attempt to escape, he took a patrol van and headed towards third mainland bridge, shooting as he was escaping.

"He was intercepted by Policemen from Bariga Division along Akoka, disarmed and handcuffed. The rifle and vehicle were recovered while the Inspector is taken to Police Hospital for medical examination as he presented signs of mental depression."

My husband and I were introduced by a mutual friend in 2013. I had just finished my WASSCE. I had some time on my hands so we talked a lot. The more we talked the closer we became and the deeper I fell in love with him.  

   He proposed to me at some point and I accepted. Ove makes everything perfect and so we were. Being in a relationship got me closer to him enough to notice one thing he was hiding from me while we were friends; His drinking problem. I didn’t keep quiet about it because I was concerned.

I told him, “I am not comfortable with the amount of alcohol you consume in a day. You have to work on it before it puts you into problems. He responded, “I am not comfortable with it too. I’m in the process of quitting. A step at a time so please give me a little time.”  I believed him and continued to stay with him. 

We didn’t date for too long. He knew what he wanted and I also knew what he wanted. We found what we needed in each other so we got married after dating for a short while. I don’t know but I had mixed feelings about the whole thing. I was hopeful about the future and at the same time anxious. The present scared me a little but I wasn’t ready to give up before we even start.  Yes, I was afraid for my husband. He didn’t quit drinking as he promised. If anything, he got worse instead. 

    Every time I talked to him about it, he gave me the same answer, “I am quitting, just give me some time.” I was patient with him. I tried not to complain. I constantly prayed for him. I was looking to God for solutions I expected from my husband. I was trusting God to cause a change in him.  When I was pregnant with our first child, I attended a friend’s wedding and came back home to see my husband drunk to a stupor. Looking at the rate he was going, I feared he might drink himself to death so I called his brother immediately; “Please, if you are not busy come to our place right now. Come and see what your brother is doing.” His brother showed up with lightning speed. 

I said, “Please look at the state your brother is in. Do you see what I’ve been dealing with since we got married? This is how he drinks all the time. Please talk some sense into his head before he ends up in a bad place.”  That day I saw a part of my husband I never knew existed. He got livid and started hurling insults at me; “You are a devilish woman. How dare invite my brother into this? Do you want to come between me and my brother?” Then he turned to his brother, “If you ever allow this woman to bring division between us, I will kill you, I swear.” He was so drunk he couldn’t pull himself together.  

For the first time since I met him, I felt unsafe in his presence. I wasn’t going to wait until he hurts me so I packed a small bag and left for my mother’s house. I stayed there until his mother started calling me and pleading with me to go back. I listened to my in-law and eventually returned to my husband. You would think he would regret his actions and change but no. Instead, he acted like he was the victim. At this point in our marriage, the only form of abuse I hadn’t suffered in his hands was physical abuse.

I’ve been on my knees in prayer, interceding for him and our marriage but I am yet to see the hand of God in our lives.  He rarely stays at home. He always has an “important” meeting he cannot miss. I remember recently our second child fell ill. My husband said he had to attend a family meeting so he left the house. The sight of the crying baby did not move him to cancel his plans. I felt so helpless. I took the baby to the hospital and drugs were prescribed. 

I used up all my money but still couldn’t buy everything. My husband refused to give me money to buy the one medication I couldn’t buy. Even when I shared tears, he refused to give me money. He old rather buy booze than help his sick child.  As I write this, I’m pregnant with our third child and I am on admission at the hospital. What brought me to the hospital?   

  This past weekend, he took the kids out for a hangout and returned with a bottle of sobolo. Two days later, the sobolo was still in the fridge, untouched. I assumed he bought it for the kids so I drank it with chips. When I got to the bottom of the bottle I saw some left-over herbs there. I thought the sobolo was not properly sieved so I didn’t give it much thought.  A few minutes after I finished consuming the sobolo, I started feeling uncomfortable. It started with dizziness and then a pounding headache and later graduated to body weakness. I tried to sleep it off but I couldn’t. I was in the washroom when my mother remarked “Don’t you think the way you’re feeling has something to do with the sobolo you took?” 

When my husband got home later that day I asked him, “The sobolo you kept in the fridge, where did you get it from?” He answered, “A friend gave it to me. Why do you ask? I hope you haven’t drunk it.”  I said, “I have. Did you put something in it?” His response was, “You have to sleep. You’ll be fine.” I asked again, “What was in the sobolo?” He said, “Weed. What you found at the bottom was weed residue.” My heart skipped a beat.

A pregnant woman drinking weed-infused sobolo? What if I gave to the kids? I didn’t know what was going to happen to me so I asked him to take me to the hospital. He shook his head and asked me, “If I take you to the hospital I will be in trouble. What would I tell them if they ask what you took? Just sleep it off. You’ll be fine”  He didn’t take me to the hospital. It was my mother and some taxi driver who brought me here. I’m fine.

The drink didn’t cause any havoc but I’m scared. This is a man I’m praying for to stop drinking. The drinking hasn’t stopped yet he’s adding more vices. I put up with his alcoholism and abuse, now that he’s adding weed, how Am I going to survive?  I don’t know if I should keep praying and trusting God to work on him, or I should just walk away before things get worse.
