Christianity EtcAn Open Letter From Christmas To Christians by yhuci(op): 8:29pm On Dec 25, 2013
My Name is Christmas. I have always been one for celebration and the world looks forward to seeing my day.

As men celebrate me, I laugh at their stupidity, the celebration of self and apparent Christians who put in a great show of service.

Originally, I took to wonder why Constantine decided to impose me on Christians, why he turned every Christian process formal, taking weight from Character and focus on formality and religion in the modus of Christian fellowship.

It’s the 21st century again and there is nothing new under the sun. I am again a global day celebrated by every Tom, Dick and Harry, Christian or not. This means I am back to my former state. A day of pagan celebration, I have become a secular day again. They say they celebrate Christ but on whose directive. Constantine?

I was happy when this man attached me to Christ. To serve has his day of birth. Maybe, Constantine was doing the bid of the sovereign King who rules in the affairs of men. Ask King Nebuchadnezzar.

Those who call themselves Christians have in error perfected me has a day for show of their formality, an open show of religious jargons, of stage shows, of worldly galore and a false sense of holy spirituality. The sad note is that their services have not caused an uproar, have not caused a turning of their world upside down. People are no longer convicted of a final sacking of their sinful lives. Idolatry is on display everywhere.

I have seen that there is a drum major character in man. One we cannot blame. Dr Martin Luther King said so. This character has taking a strong hold in Christian service, the urge to do something for God. Good as it is. Bro. James and Paul have told us what Christian service is and how Christian service should be modelled respectively.

They say there are two powers at war on earth. Correct!

They further say that, It is God and the Devil. Wrong!

It is Man and the Devil/Sin/gods of the earth. That is why I am happy to be seen as Christ’s birth, because on that day, something happened. God took the greatest risk as he identified with man.

Christ said, “…with God nothing is impossible.” Light shines in Darkness and Darkness was not able to comprehend it. God is invincible and the powers that be are all his.

On that day, the heavenly hosts gave a beautiful rendition. It was the sweetest note on seraph song, sweetest name on mortal tongue, sweetest carol ever sung. The precision point- Jesus only is our Message.

However, I have noticed Christians are now blind, much like our once blind, Bro. Saul. They are full of religious services and fellowships. They should have better listened to King David. Man can never do anything for God.

I am reminded of the late nineteenth century English missionary, C.T Studd who remarked, “Only one life. It will soon be past. Only what’s done for Christ will last.” The man must have known what he was saying, for many don’t know. Christ said, “Any seed that my father has not planted will be uprooted.” So, at the end it’s only what Christ does through a man and not what he does for Christ.

In a time where pretence, materialism and dark powers have the major say, where there is a great redundancy in true Christian worship. Songs and Worship no longer convict the minds of men. So-called pastors and gospel artistes are on the dangerous rise yearly. Who called them? Obedience is better than Sacrifice. John reminds us in 1John2: 2-6, “Here’s how we can be sure we know God in the right way: Keep his commandments. If someone claims, “I know him well!” but doesn’t keep his commandments, he’s obviously a liar. His life doesn’t match his words… This is the only way to be sure we’re in God. Anyone who claims to be intimate with God ought to live the same Kind of life Jesus lived.”(The Message)

It is time Christians go back to the place where it all began. To the place where to be Christian is to be like Christ, to be Light, known to turn their world upside down.

So stop your foolishness. Stop these religious jargons. Are you a pastor, a church leader, a member, a worker, chorister, usher or do you belong to any part of the complex anatomy of the Christian church in any way? Quit your error. Stop deceiving yourself and others. Focus your energies on living the life of Christian Character, responsive to God. You are God’s temple. You are the Church.

God calls, “…Be holy, do not work in sin any longer, I have paid the price for your soul, separate yourself and come out from among them…” See the letter to the seven churches in the book of Revelations and you will realise that one can be called a Christian and be stone dead and still think they are on the right path.

I invite you to note that Age does not bring wisdom and neither academic learning nor tradition does so. Job and his companions can tell you who does.

One day at the next stop of reality, when you realize that time is no more, that your soul is lost and that you have no chance to change your destiny, no longer able to retrace your steps. You will remember that Jesus Christ is the only precision.

Yes! Christ is the only way. According to the Prophet Isaiah, Look unto him and be saved. Reach out, believe and keep to his words.

As I give this mundane finish. I hope I have stung your backend. My name again is Christmas (Keresimesi) and once again, I am in the business of bringing the tales of a new year. Put aside your sins and evil works so that you may not die.

Chief Iniquity and Prince Sin are on the rise daily. Where are the Christians?

Prepare to meet your God!

You may disagree.

Yours in Faith,

Bro. Christmas

FamilyChristmas Present Ideas For Eight Types Of Mother-in-laws by yhuci(op): 10:07pm On Dec 21, 2013
1.FAMILY GAL
Ideal Gift: Fancy Photo Album, Photographs
In case your mother in law goes all happy-happy-joy-joy whenever she is presented with the opportunity to dump a truckload of photos in front of someone and spend the next couple of hours discussing each and every one of them like a it’s a freaking Modigliani, getting her a photo album, digital photo frame or a booked family photograph session is definitely a step in the right direction. Get her a photo album even if she refuses to collect or show any of your photographs and make sure it’s a gorgeous one but skip the photo session or arrange the date and time in advance just to make sure the session won’t “accidentally” clash with your work schedule.

2. SEXY AND SHE KNOWS IT
Ideal Gift: Beauty & Fashion Trinkets, Popular Lifestyle Items
She’s trendy, active, up to date with all of the latest fashion trends and beauty product launches and is more of a gal-pal than an in-law! Well, if that’s what your mother in law is like all I can say is, “Can I shake her hand?” Lol! Getting her a present will be a piece of cake, girl! Get her a trendy yet age-appropriate accessory, some exercise equipment, a gift bag with a few newest beauty products you know she’ll love, a magazine subscription of Genevieve Magazine or a new bestselling novel. Don’t sweat even if you’re unsure as to what an ideal Christmas present for a mother-in-law might be – you can always get her a gift card and give her a chance to purchase the thing she likes the most.

3. HOME BOUND
Ideal Gift: Anything for the House
Okay, so my mother in law is like this and I thought getting her nice, girly stuff she rarely ever gets a chance to go shop for be a good call. And…well…I couldn’t have been more wrong! Needless to say – you can probably getting her a lamp this year, or a fruit bowl, maybe even a pair of house slippers. If your mother-in-law loves to cook then that’s even better, because you can start eyeing spice racks and cookbooks!

4. RETIRED & BORED
Ideal Gift: Crafting Supplies
Okay, now I know it sounds totally bad but hey, if you happen to have a mom in law with too much time on her hands and no idea how to put it into a good use, you know how utterly annoying she can get. Some enjoy gossiping, others will tell you their life story each and every time and so on and on. Worry not, as your gift for a mother in law this year is about to put an end to that! Get her a starter set and make her take up crafting. Scrapbooking, card-making, wood-carving, decoupage – there are plenty of awesome stuff to choose from and, once you get her hooked, you can just continue buying her more tools and supplies! Amazing, isn’t it? Killing two birds with one stone is an admirable skill but killing ALL birds with one stone…now that right there is an art!

5. BUSY ENTREPRENEUR/BUSINESS WOMAN
Ideal Gift: Something Feminine But Useful
In case your ma’ is a career woman, you can definitely get her something that will make her job easier or help her look stylish while she’s making paper! A designer agenda, a new shoulder strap for her Louis Vuitton purse, a really smart scarf or a stylish yet work-appropriate necklace, personal tech, a day at the spa so she could relax or some cosmetics. Don’t experiment too much with beauty products if you know she likes a certain beauty routine – get her something you know she’ll use or a gift card so she can choose. And it rhymes! Yaaay! Do you think Rebecca Black would hire me to write her lyrics?

6.PROUD GRANDMA
Ideal Gift: Anything Related to Their Grandchildren
Most grandparents would do everything to make their grandkids happy yet some end up not only loving the job but actually trying to be the best at it to the point where you start thinking that if there were such thing as “world’s best grandparents” title, they’d probably be the one winning it. If you’re having a conversation with this grandma, it’s going to be all about your kids, if she’s cooking or baking we’re talking about a menu that consists of everything kids love or might find interesting! Well, you’ve got one Wonder Granny on your hands and now would be the perfect time to thank God, Gods, Great Shogun, Faith, Charles Darwin, Justin Bieber or whichever divine force you put your faith in for it! Why? Because all you’ll need to do to make her happy is snap or find a few cute photos of your children to frame! Think something big and imposing. Have your kids draw her a card or a picture, write her a poem or anything of that sort. She’ll get all teary-eyed, I’m sure!

7. ACTIVE MOM
Ideal Gift: Anything Active
When you’re dealing with a mother in law that is very active, that is super outdoorsy and that loves to stay fit and trim, they can be hard to buy for! You don’t want to get them the wrong running shoes or the wrong workout pants, so why not go with something interactive? Fitbit is a work-out device and it is a great little mechanism that tells you how many calories you burn per day and exactly how well or bad you sleep. It’s a great little device and perfect for any mother in law!

8. THE COOK
Ideal Gift: Something for Kitchen
You know the type, that can outcook anyone and that wants to do every single holiday at their house — because they are a better cook than you. if that is your M.I.L, you’ve got a ‘The Cook’ type on your hands and that means that they want anything in the world for the kitchen. Cute accessories are fun and even pans that you never think you’d need to buy, she wants. Stay within the kitchen..

Any other ideas?

LESS than a week after the Abia State government demolished a five-storey building used as a baby factory home in Aba, another uncompleted building has been demolished, this time, at Umuobia Olokoro in Umuahia South Local Government Area of the state.
The government said the demolished uncompleted building was being used as baby sales point.

According to him, based on the report by the police that the building was being used as a baby factory, Governor Theodore Orji directed that the building be demolished to serve as deterrent to others.
According Udonsi, the police fingered one Mr. Uche Uhuabunwa and his wife in the illegal business.
According to him, 18 pregnant young girls were rescued by the police during a raid in the place.
He called on Abians to give adequate information to the government on all types of crime in the state and commended the Governor Orji on the level of courage he has shown in fighting crime in the state.

EventsDr Sid And Tiwa Savage Set To Host 2013 Headies Awards by yhuci(op): 9:55pm On Dec 11, 2013
Sensational singer Tiwa Savage and Dr Sid, have been announced as hosts for the 2013 edition of The Headies – Nigeria’s biggest and most prestigious music awards.

According to the organizers of the awards, both artistes have been selected in line with the awards’ tradition of picking talented and inspiring entertainers, to host the awards ceremony which parades some of the continent’s biggest entertainers.

Tiwa Savage has earned a place for herself as one of Nigeria’s favourite artistes since the release of her 2010 debut single Kele Kele Love. The song which was released while Tiwa was still in the US, topped charts instantly but it was the follow up single ‘Love me, Love me, Love me’ that won the hearts of many.
Speaking on The Headies 2013, Tiwa says, “Being the 8th year, it’s not easy to be consistent in a country like Nigeria. So kudos to the organizers for creating an award by Nigerians for Nigerians…it’s always sketchy when the nomination list comes up, like this year. We are not going to touch on that, we’ll just wait for the night and address those issues and we’ll go ‘all Kanye West’ on the awards…”

The Over the Moon hit maker couldn’t hold back his excitement over the organizers’ decision to choose him as a co-host for The Headies 2013. ‘I’ve been trying to host this event for the past 6 years, I’ve waited to be called to no avail and this year I’m hosting. Wow! I’m so emotional right now, I’m glad for this opportunity,’ Dr SID expressed.

The Headies 2013 will hold on Boxing Day, December 26 at the Ground Ball Room of the Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos.

Now in its 8th year, The Headies (also known as the HipHopWorld Awards) is Nigeria’s premiere honours event for urbane music and hip hop culture. Produced and presented to match some of the biggest awards shows from around the world, The Headies annually celebrates deserving Nigerian music stars, giving honour to whom it is due, and encouraging many to step up their game in order to enter the prestigious Headies alumni.

Foreign AffairsREAD: President Barack Obama’s Speech At Nelson Mandela’s Memorial Service by yhuci(op): 9:42pm On Dec 11, 2013
To Graça Machel and the Mandela family; to President Zuma and members of the government; to heads of state and government, past and present; distinguished guests – it is a singular honour to be with you today, to celebratea life unlike any other. To the people of South Africa – people of every race and walk of life – the world thanks you for sharing Nelson Mandela with us. His struggle was your struggle. His triumph was your triumph. Your dignity and hope found expression in his life, and your freedom, your democracy is his cherished legacy.
It is hard to eulogise any man – to capture in words not just the facts and the dates that make a life, but the essential truth of a person – their private joys and sorrows; the quiet moments and unique qualities that illuminate someone’s soul. How much harder to do so for a giant of history, who moved a nation toward justice, and in the process moved billions around the world.

Born during world war one, far from the corridors of power, a boy raised herding cattle and tutored by elders of his Thembu tribe – Madiba would emerge as the last great liberator of the 20th century. Like Gandhi, he would lead a resistance movement – a movement that at its start held little prospect of success. Like King, he would give potent voice to the claims of the oppressed, and the moral necessity of racial justice. He would endure a brutal imprisonment that began in the time of Kennedy and Khrushchev, and reached the final days of the Cold War. Emerging from prison, without force of arms, he would – like Lincoln – hold his country together when it threatened to break apart. Like America’s founding fathers, he would erect a constitutional order to preserve freedom for future generations – a commitment to democracy and rule of law ratified not only by his election, but by his willingness to step down from power.
Given the sweep of his life, and the adoration that he so rightly earned, it is tempting then to remember Nelson Mandela as an icon, smiling and serene, detached from the tawdry affairs of lesser men. But Madiba himself strongly resisted such a lifeless portrait. Instead, he insisted on sharing with us his doubts and fears; his miscalculations along with his victories. “I’m not a saint,” he said, “unless you think of a saint as a sinner who keeps on trying.”
It was precisely because he could admit to imperfection – because he could be so full of good humour, even mischief, despite the heavy burdens he carried – that we loved him so. He was not a bust made of marble; he was a man of flesh and blood – a son and husband, a father and a friend. That is why we learned so much from him; that is why we can learn from him still. For nothing he achieved was inevitable. In the arc of his life, we see a man who earned his place in history through struggle and shrewdness; persistence and faith. He tells us what’s possible not just in the pages of dusty history books, but in our own lives as well.
Mandela showed us the power of action; of taking risks on behalf of our ideals. Perhaps Madiba was right that he inherited, “a proud rebelliousness, a stubborn sense of fairness” from his father. Certainly he shared with millions of black and coloured South Africans the anger born of, “a thousand slights, a thousand indignities, a thousand unremembered moments … a desire to fight the system that imprisoned my people”.
But like other early giants of the ANC – the Sisulus and Tambos – Madiba disciplined his anger; and channelled his desire to fight into organisation, and platforms, and strategies for action, so men and women could stand-up for their dignity. Moreover, he accepted the consequences of his actions, knowing that standing up to powerful interests and injustice carries a price. “I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination,” he said at his 1964 trial. “I’ve cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.”
Mandela taught us the power of action, but also ideas; the importance of reason and arguments; the need to study not only those you agree with, but those who you don’t. He understood that ideas cannot be contained by prison walls, or extinguished by a sniper’s bullet. He turned his trial into an indictment of apartheid because of his eloquence and passion, but also his training as an advocate. He used decades in prison to sharpen his arguments, but also to spread his thirst for knowledge to others in the movement. And he learned the language and customs of his oppressor so that one day he might better convey to them how their own freedom depended upon his.
Mandela demonstrated that action and ideas are not enough; no matter how right, they must be chiselled into laws and institutions. He was practical, testing his beliefs against the hard surface of circumstance and history. On core principles he was unyielding, which is why he could rebuff offers of conditional release, reminding the Apartheid regime that, “prisoners cannot enter into contracts”. But as he showed in painstaking negotiations to transfer power and draft new laws, he was not afraid to compromise for the sake of a larger goal. And because he was not only a leader of a movement, but a skilful politician, the Constitution that emerged was worthy of this multiracialdemocracy; true to his vision of laws that protect minority as well as majority rights, and the precious freedoms of every South African.
Finally, Mandela understood the ties that bind the human spirit. There is a word in South Africa – Ubuntu – that describes his greatest gift: his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by sharing ourselves with others, and caring for those around us. We can never know how much of this was innate in him, or how much of was shaped and burnished in a dark, solitary cell. But we remember the gestures, large and small – introducing his jailors as honoured guests at his inauguration; taking the pitch in a Springbok uniform; turning his family’s heartbreak into a call to confront HIV/AIDS – that revealed the depth of his empathy and understanding. He not only embodied Ubuntu; he taught millions to find that truth within themselves. It took a man like Madiba to free not just the prisoner, but the jailor as well; to show that you must trust others so that they may trust you; to teach that reconciliation is not a matter of ignoring a cruel past, but a means of confronting it with inclusion, generosity and truth. He changed laws, but also hearts.
For the people of South Africa, for those he inspired around the globe – Madiba’s passing is rightly a time of mourning, and a time to celebrate his heroic life. But I believe it should also prompt in each of us a time for self-reflection. With honesty, regardless of our station or circumstance, we must ask: how well have I applied his lessons in my own life?
It is a question I ask myself – as a man and as a president. We know that like South Africa, the United States had to overcome centuries of racial subjugation. As was true here, it took the sacrifice of countless people – known and unknown – to see the dawn of a new day. Michelle and I are the beneficiaries of that struggle. But in America and South Africa, and countries around the globe, we cannot allow our progress to cloud the fact that our work is not done. The struggles that follow the victory of formal equality and universal franchise may not be as filled with drama and moral clarity as those that came before, but they are no less important. For around the world today, we still see children suffering from hunger, and disease; run-down schools, and few prospects for the future. Around the world today, men and women are still imprisoned for their political beliefs; and are still persecuted for what they look like, or how they worship, or who they love.
We, too, must act on behalf of justice. We, too, must act on behalf of peace. There are too many of us who happily embrace Madiba’s legacy of racial reconciliation, but passionately resist even modest reforms that would challenge chronic poverty and growing inequality. There are too many leaders who claim solidarity with Madiba’s struggle for freedom, but do not tolerate dissent from their own people. And there are too many of us who stand on the sidelines, comfortable in complacency or cynicism when our voices must be heard.
The questions we face today – how to promote equality and justice; to uphold freedom and human rights; to end conflict and sectarian war – do not have easy answers. But there were no easy answers in front of that child in Qunu. Nelson Mandela reminds us that it always seems impossible until it is done. South Africa shows us that is true. South Africa shows us we can change. We can choose to live in a world defined not by our differences, but by our common hopes. We can choose a world defined not by conflict, but by peace and justice and opportunity.
We will never see the likes of Nelson Mandela again. But let me say to the young people of Africa, and young people around the world – you can make his life’s work your own. Over thirty years ago, while still a student, I learned of Mandela and the struggles in this land. It stirred something in me. It woke me up to my responsibilities – to others, and to myself – and set me on an improbable journey that finds me here today. And while I will always fall short of Madiba’s example, he makes me want to be better. He speaks to what is best inside us. After this great liberator is laid to rest; when we have returned to our cities and villages, and rejoined our daily routines, let us search then for his strength – for his largeness of spirit – somewhere inside ourselves. And when the night grows dark, when injustice weighs heavy on our hearts, or our best laid plans seem beyond our reach – think of Madiba, and the words that brought him comfort within the four walls of a cell:
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

What a great soul it was. We will miss him deeply. May God bless the memory of Nelson Mandela. May God bless the people of South Africa.

TravelUnderwater Hotel Opens In Africa by yhuci(op): 6:17pm On Nov 20, 2013
Joining a list of other experimental under-the-sea hotel rooms in Florida, Sweden and the Maldives, the underwater room at Manta Resort on remote Pemba Island in Tanzania’s Zanzibar Archipelago immerses guests 4m below the surface. The room sits on the bottom of a three-level floating structure, located 250m from shore in the Indian Ocean.
Above and below each of the room’s eight windows, spotlights illuminate the sea life that swims by. Frequent visitors include a trumpet fish known as Nick, as well as squid and octopus at night. Above the underwater space, guests can climb a ladder to the water level, which contains a bathroom and lounge, or ascend to the rooftop to soak up the sun or lay beneath the stars

FashionWhen You Should Get Rid Of Your Old Makeup & Why You Should by yhuci(op): 5:17pm On Nov 20, 2013
If there’s a woman out there who’s vigilant about tossing her mascara every two months on the dot, I haven’t met her yet. Most women commit many beauty sins, like going to bed without washing their makeup off, but clinging to old makeup is one of the greatest.

Unfortunately, it may also be a breeding ground for eye infections, like pinkeye and sties. Overall, makeup that contains water (liquid foundation, liquid eyeliner) is at a higher risk for going bad than powder makeup, because water provides bacteria with a friendly home in which to thrive. Warm environments increase the risk for bacteria growth, too, so keep your makeup in a cool, dry place if possible.

Seeing as there are no expiry dates for makeup. Here are five reasons to suspect that your makeup has gone bad:

1. YOU’VE RECENTLY HAD AN EYE INFECTION OR BEEN SICK

I’m not saying you should replace all your makeup at the first sign of the common cold, but if there’s a chance your makeup got all germy from your sick little self (example: your lipstick touched your cold sore), toss it.

2. IT SMELLS DIFFERENT

Aging lipstick can smell like stale oil. You know what your products should smell like — the second they start smelling different, toss.

3. THE COLOR HAS CHANGED

If your foundation suddenly looks off on your skin, either you just got a tan or the product is going haywire on you. If there’s any inconsistency in color, get rid of it.

4. THE TEXTURE HAS CHANGED

Lip gloss that’s now gooey and clumpy? Foundation that’s separated? Goodbye.

5. IT FEELS DIFFERENT ON YOUR SKIN

If that cream blush just doesn’t feel like whipped mousse on your cheeks anymore, it’s probably time to get a new one.

But don’t wait till your makeup has visibly curdled to switch it out. Here’s a handy makeup-tossing timeline for your perusal! Please note that these dates fall on the conservative end of the spectrum, so if the budget is tight, you can probably get away with holding on to that eye shadow for an extra month or so.

After 2 months: Throw out your mascara. I know it hurts, especially if you’re a high-end mascara type of girl. Either switch to a cheaper classic or deal with the expense. Healthy eyes are prettier than thick eyelashes.

After 3 months: Exchange your liquid or gel eyeliners for new ones. Like mascara, the brush is constantly carrying bacteria from the eye back to the warm, wet bottle.

After 6 months: People seem to disagree on when you should toss eye shadow. Since it’s a powder, it should last forever (or at least for a year or two), but since it goes on right by your eye, it’s at higher risk of contamination. I’m giving it a middle-ground expiration date with the understanding that you’ll use your own judgment. Same with cream eyeshadow: pass it forward more frequently than other cream products.

After 6-12 months: By now, you should have used up any liquid foundation, cream blush, facial serums, or face creams, but if not, it’s time to replace them anyway. Anything that you apply with your fingers is at higher risk for contamination than products that come in pump bottles, since your fingers can carry bacteria into the jar. You can keep pencil eyeliners for this long if you’re sharpening them regularly.

After 1-2 years: These are the lucky little buggers that never seem to go bad: powder foundation, powder blush, lipstick, lip gloss, nail polish. Just keep an eye on them for any change in color, scent, or consistency.

When it comes to makeup, sharing is definitely not caring, so don’t even think of “handing down” your favorite shades to your little sister.
