PoliticsDangote Group In Win-win Arrangement With Gov. Obaseki: New Dangote Construction by yhurmie(op): 9:39am On Feb 17, 2017

A look around certain parts of Benin City would see brand new construction equipment and workers undertaking re-constuction activities in major benin streets. What is most shocking is that the Dangote Group is behind all of this. A closer look shows that AG Dangote Construction Company, a new venture solely in partnership with Edo State Government is behind most of this construction activities.

As part of the fulfillment of his campaign promises, Obaseki Employment Generation Scheme, which kicked off , have the first set of youths employed by the Edo State Government become Trainees in this Dangote Venture.

While people are excited about this new development, most are curious if the state is not been sold to the Dangote Group. As was widely rumoured during the Edo elections that Gov. Obaseki was sponsored by Dangote, this development is seemingly confirming this.

PoliticsAttention Gov. Obaseki: BEDC Quietly Increases Electricity Tariff By Over 40% by yhurmie(op): 2:13pm On Jan 12, 2017

BEDC quietly increases electricity tariff by over 40% as new year welcome - Consumers groan

A recent spike in electricity tariff of BEDC may soon pitch the residents of Benin City, the Edo State capital and its environs, against the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) as consumers under the company groan under the new tariff regime. The new 2017 price regime of 34.40KWh per unit of electricity consumed has left alot of residents in despair. This is in contrast to about 24.45KWh per unit of electricity that was previously used. The current increase of over 40.7% in the electricity tariff took effect in January 2017.

Christianity EtcWhat Could Two Grown Men Be Doing On Their Knees Talking To Another? by yhurmie(op): 9:27am On Jan 08, 2017
What could two grown men be doing on their knees talking to another? If this picture doesnt come as off to you, then it means this cultural 'respect' problem has eaten too deep into our society's fabric.

I have seen reponses that promote it as a culture thing...they are showing respect...etc but the question should be, is there anything in the Bible to suggest that this was how Jesus Christ would have people relate with him? Shouldnt a "leader" correct members if they are bestowing an unwholesome regard to him? Jesus washed his disciples feet..to drive home the point that he's there to serve them. No tradition should be stronger than your religious persuation. Jesus developed such a loving and inviting relationship with his disciples such that he allowed a beloved disciple rest on his bossom...John 13:23..."Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved...". You mean the successor to Adeboye is not comfortable enough to sit or stand while talking with the 'world-wide' G.O.?

Hmmm...

BusinessLet The Games Begin... by yhurmie(op): 10:16am On Jan 07, 2017

With 2017 just a few days gone...whats your approach this time around?Let the Games Begin...might best describe how i feel about it. A year pregnant with an infinite combination of possibilities, or probably nothing? Which is the conclusion you would rather go with? Nothing? Or Infinite possibilities?

If you would play the year to win as in a game, knowing that the outcome of this year 2017, whatever it may be at the end, does not define you, just maybe, you would be able to own the year with all it would bring whilst keeping in mind your end goal for what you need from the year. I would assume you have played a game at some point in time, a game that was just a pain in the ass (coughs) excuse my french, lol, but one where you were most determined to win that stage or level, more often than not, you did win that level before possibly running off..lol..but the point is because you knew it was a game afterall, amidst the frustration of previous losses, you were able to succeed eventually.

Why? Because with the game, you never thought of yourself as a failure while you were losing because you knew it was a game, you stood up and possibly stretched alittle, probably after each unsuccessful attempt to give yourself a GO again, you checked what the rules of the game were again, and then you focused your energy on that elusive level and gbam...you won!

Apply this understanding and see what happens this 2017...now Let the Games Beginnn..*wink*

BusinessRe: ATM Fraud Victims Sue CBN, 24 Banks In Class Action by yhurmie: 2:26pm On Dec 14, 2009
this may be an ambitious move, but it is a very welcome development. I admire and applaud the 'fighting spirit' of these people that chose to step up to the authorities in the face of obvious ridicule.

In the mean time, as some1 mentioned, the most feasible action would be to boycott the use of ATM cards until the CBN and banks take a firm stand for customers. Yes, inconvenient though it may be.

BTW, I stopped using the service since 2006, when my account was cleared even though I was stupid enough to have released my PIN to the thieves then!  undecided

Christianity EtcRe: Judas Iscariot: Betrayer Or Enabler? by yhurmie: 4:30pm On Mar 15, 2007
wow! shahan insightful rejoinder, left lil for d rest of us 2 say, well done

goodguy, dere r no kno-it-alls, only people dat av taken d pain to study to shew demselves approved, wit a lil effort u can be one of dem! grin

anywayz, my views:
think d author of d article is a confusionist who also cant make up his mind wat he wants 2 believe cos in one breathe he talks bout judas not havin existed and in d next he wants 'd unexisting' to be celebrated for bringin d purpose of d existing to pass! undecided

on d whether dere were two fields, in both instances recorded, two salient things stand out: d name of d field(s) n its connection 2 judas in dat it was purchased wit "blood money" signifying d betrayal, 4 clarity purposes, one thing is sure, twas on record dat d field was judas' property whether he bought it himself or it was bought on his behalf by d pharisees since dey clearly didnt want d money back!

dis brings me to d issue of dem havin Jesus pointed out, i think d pharisees were afraid of Jesus and his power and so dey tried all within deir power 2 distance demselves from the death of Jesus even though dey were sunk neck-deep in. cos if u recall, wen dey took Jesus b4 pilate, he wondered why dey brought Jesus to him and had not killed him themselves, this makes us kno it was something permissible, dey could in their own right av killed Jesus for what dey termed to be his crime. but dey resisted and lied dat tho he had blasphemed God which requires that he must b put 2 death, deir law also did not permit dem to kill anyone!, dis comin 4rm a bunch of people dat had wanted 2 stone a woman 2 death 4 adultery is certainly rich!  grin so methinks, deir paying judas 2 point out Jesus was also part of d great, if stupid, cover-up on deir part, dat "really, it were'nt us, d people asked 4 it and even one of his own deliverd him up 2 us!" guess, its d adamic nature of shifting blame nd shirkin responsibility in dem.

on whether judas committed suicide or not, i dont think d account of him fallin headlong implies dat he didnt commit suicide, cos it just talks bout him falling, how or wen, (cos it possibly mite av been wen dey d rope holding him up 2 d tree was cut!) neither was d word accident ever used. d fact remains tho dat his ending was inglorious.

dere certainly aint nothin 2 applaud or emulate dere, certainly a BETRAYER and not an enabler.

lastly, let's remember d admonition of peter in 2 Peter 1:15-16

Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

be careful wat u believe.
CultureRe: Speaking Out Against The Bride Price Practice by yhurmie: 2:15pm On Mar 15, 2007
wonder why our initial tendencies av always been to throw out the baby wit the bathwater!
latest discovery on some families:
brideprice = slavery angry
so wat should we do? me, me, me! yes? lets throw it all out! hurrraayyyyyy!

@bunkbobo
wat makes something culture? should it be defined by new-fangled understandings? i think u shld av first sounded us women out before goin all-out to defend wat u term 'our rights'!
well sorry prince charmin, in dis instance ur 'fight' is quite misguided, in our culture, it is the right of everywoman that her husband pay her brideprice, anything less wouldnt b marriage! also dont kno where u came about dis haggling angle, it isnt the norm neither does it mean the wife has been sold as it normally should just b a token symbollizing interconnection: exchange of treasure and resources, sharing and caring between both families.
that dere are individual families dat exploit d culture and harass their potential sons-in-law, i cannot deny. however, such cases cant be generalized and even den such intending couples shld b able 2 discuss and agree on that before sitting down wit deir respective families 2 talk sense into dem. if dey cant handle dat den dont think dey'v got business gettin married cos brideprice aint d only thing del'd av 2 contend wit in marriage.
really tho i believe it is d men i.e husbands dat need to change their mentality. paying brideprice is actually meant 2 make u treasure ur wife more not immediately make her a commodity dat ur family just bought for u! shocked dat brideprice is paid shouldnt make any bride less lovable, she still is d same babe u fell for!
dear bunkbobo, if u r so bothered bout our plight in marriage why not demand such rights dat really would make a difference 2 us like demand that the children we bear carry our names seeing as we go thru more pain not just to birth dem but also do all ensure 2 a better future for dem! grin
please, lets not get unnecessarily sentimental ere, keep it real
RomanceRe: Can You Blame Her For Dating A Married Man? by yhurmie: 12:40pm On Mar 15, 2007
@dewdrop and natasha, take a chill pill sistas, dont kno how it pinches until u find urself wearin d shoes wink; it sure is possible 2 b pretty, decent, nice etc and not have any single man knock on ur door for a while talk less of propose marriage.

also know how much it hurts wen uv been in nd out of relationships wit single guys, givin everythin u got and at d end of d day, its all taken for granted cos aftall, you are getting old and thus must b desperate enuff 2 take crap! suppose dis might be her rationale 4 datin a married man who she's not expectin much from anywayz rather dan date a single guy wit xpectations for fear dat it would be thrown back in her face.

do empathise wit d lady cos she must av had her share of failed relationships to av given in to dis married man, who i must say is also a user, she just doesnt kno it yet. den, she'ld hate it worse dan wen she was used by single men cos dis time she's compromised her dignity as a woman too.

inasmuch as we all kno life aint black nd white as we were raised 2 blieve but has loads nd loads of grey areas, dere are some basic rules dat shouldnt be toyed wit as hard as it may be at d time. d lady in question mite be catchin her trips now but it is sure that she aint always gonna b satisfied wit comin in last on his agenda, cos d truth is she aint gonna b second; her needs will b considered only after d man's job, his wife, his children, his car, name it! in time, she would b left wit d dregs of d affair, bearing all d attendant scars nd shame while he goes scampering bak into d folds of wifey dearest!

i'ld advice her instead 2 keep praying and keep an open mind, someone will come along sooner or later, no situation ever really is forever even though most of d time it feels dat way
