Good Afternoon Nairalanders,

Before I start this post i would call on the attention of seun and lalasticlala as they can facilitate the movement of this post to front page for quick resolution.

I work with a financial institution as their Business Development Executive and we deal majorly in Capital Market (i.e shares, bonds and equity) so it turns out that my company (name hidden for security reasons) is and old and reputable company that serves as broker for the Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE) for over 50 years has share certificate of clients and those share certificate run from 1980s to 1990s. This share certificate are of reputable company still listed on the stock exchange market. e.g Cardbury, Guiness, Exxon mobile. E.T.C

Now my boss tasked me to find this people so they can come and claim their unclaimed dividend.

The Problem: It turns out that a lot of this client that bought the shares then are 50 years and above which makes it difficult to find on social media. Efforts has been made to communicate to the registrars of those certificate but it proved abortive because they prefer to sit on the dividend and use it to do business.

How do you think someone can find these people either dead or alive as the certificates are too much and it is running into millions in this present day Nigeria.

Please kindly assist with any useful information as address on the certificate is only carrying the local government and not the street and you know phone has not been in existence then.

yes i agree it bad for business to come and be served at your own business, other family members can come and have family discount etc for if wife or hubby comes to be served like any other person its not good i agree
my point exactly

This is marriage we are talking about here please. So because of a meal a day the wife will run on losses or run down the business? You guys are complete jokers. I am not paying sha, whether I supported you in opening the business or not, or the business has been in existence before we met. In marriage everyone must make sacrifices.
that's where problem starts coz your friends would start coming and might have that mentality also, do you think you are setting a good example there

Even if it was before they ever met, once they marry, in fact even during courtship, it becomes a united effort and not a one-man or one-woman thing
that's sense of entitlement in my own opinion why not leave the person to do his or her thing then you support where necessary.
Family / Re: Should The Wife Or Husband Pay For Purchase On A Family Business? by YINKS89(m): 10:00am On Apr 09, 2022
ZIMDRILL:

very simple

but no clear answer it depends on what the staff was told on how to deal with relatives especially hubby or wife aka the policy of the restruant towards close relatives

eg relatives dont eat together with customers, they go to the kitchen get food and eat in the staff room

mixing with customers can confuse staff who to serven1st etc priority is not relatives but customers

problem with most africans is they want to be known by customers as owners treated like a special customers, whereas they should humble themself
but still it's bad for business if you ask me

If the husband contributed to the restaurant bizness, den he won't pay

otherwise, he has to pay as a customer does.
even if he does, don't you think if he decides not to pay after every meal it's affecting the business.

You sound like both of them acquire thier businesses without each other's knowledge and support. Is there anything like wife's or husband's restaurant in marriage? Does it occur to you that the restaurant could be the husband's investment. He may put his wife in charge so money can come in for both.

I'm not supporting the man not paying even if it's his investment. He should pay as a standard to uphold the business and avoid credit based on familiarity.

What I'm just trying to signify is the term you used. Wife's business, husband's business. It doesn't portray unity....like each person on his/her own.
what if the business has been in existence before marriage or before they knew each other? Have you ever thought of that?

Yes

That's business.
The husband or any other family is a customer when he is in the restaurant.
so you saying he mist pay.

I won't collect a dime from him especially if he supported me financially in the restaurant business.

I will even be happy he's eating at my restaurant, because I can't go home and still cook for him after a long stressful day.

BUT, there is always a way I will collect back every single penny he ate at my restaurant without him noticing at alllll. Trust me he won't even know he's paying his bills.

So, I will always allow him eat anything he wants at my restaurant.
this is new for me

Family / Should The Wife Or Husband Pay For Purchase On A Family Business? by YINKS89(m): 6:51pm On Apr 08, 2022
So I was on Twitter this afternoon when I stumbled on this interesting topic where they where asking if the wife should collect money from her husband for eating in her restaurant.

Nairalanders my question is this if you wife owns a restaurant and you go there to eat are you to pay or if you are the husband that owns the restaurant would you collect money from your wife.

Cc: lalasticlala broadcast and let's hear what people has to say.

is it about the benefit or doing it for your family

Female Bread winners are few. Infact, very few compared to male.
the fact that they don't come out doesn't mean they are few, it might be their husband is the one taking up the responsibility

Olasyke:

Is there anything wrong with your finances as a couple? If not then no issues to see here.
There's nothing wrong here, the father in-law is just being manipulative and petty.
not me per say but if you read what I just said, I never in anyway said there are having financial problem but the man feels the wife is not doing enough because of the husband and he's not in the position to tell the father in law the wife collected loan
Family / Re: When Your Wife Is The Breadwinner Of Her Family. by YINKS89(m): 2:43pm On Apr 01, 2022
Kobojunkie:
Well, just as you have male breadwinners, you should also expect to have female breadwinners. I don't understand why this is a topic at all. undecided
the world we live in sees female just to assist so in a case where she is now carrying that burden which we feel should be carried by men then it calls for debate
