All you said would've been perfect especially with your kiss daniel as key study..but it's just a '1' kiss Daniel in a hundred of upcoming signing....now these other upcoming signing that don't get to make it and are total loss for the management how many times do you get to hear management cry foul.,it's cause they know it's business....when gee worldwide signed kiss daniel.,they did sign other artists too...but today where are these artists.? That's why labels signs contracts that must favour then 70% over the artist....cause in 20 upcoming signing u will be blessed to get 1 good sign.,so how do u recoup for the other 19....you just looking at it as per artist but that's where you wrong....it's a collection cause wether how do you keep the label running knowing fully well that 20% of your upcoming signing won't blow.. it's business bro
Music business is a very risky business unless for those that use it in laundering their money.
Record label you hear most times have over 30 artist but you sometimes know just 1 or 2.,ask yourself how do dey pay the rest....cause there is a contract nd they have to fulfil it.
bro like u said it's business for them hence the reason why there is always a clause on every contract if as an upcoming artiste you signed with a label just like bank they gv you target and if you fail to also meet the target they cut u off.... Apart from DMW have u seen any record label that signed a upcoming artiste and within 2 years they still keep funding it? Let me tell you no coz like u said it's business for them... No time to wait for u to blow if u can't achieve it within a year.

I agree with somethings the op said and I also disagree with some... When it comes to promotion of songs it's only when the musicians is up and coming that's wen a lot of publicity is done, ones he/she breaks into the market they need just little publicity to promote the song perfect example are the likes of Wizkid, olamide and davido.... Even before the song is out they have started challenge, that's cos the musician is popular.

Secondly you talked about them recouping their money, what you don't understand is this most record label fight artist that are talented when they want to leave not because of the money spent but because that particular stream of income is going to close a perfect example is kiss Daniel... Today no artist signed by g worldwide can meet up to what he has done for them.
Thirdly I'll say on the part of the musicians they fail to read contract before they sign but I'll also say record label are been wicked when it comes to these contract. How can you say a musician shouldn't use a stage name because he/she is no longer on your label? It so bad to the extent that that career would die ones u decide to adopt another coz we already know u as one. Perfect example is kiss Daniel now kizz Daniel.

I'm not saying artist are saint but my point is this, in as much as we blame the artist we also have the right to blame the record label coz without an artist they don't exist and vice versa.... I rest my case

Not a kobo. The only way record labels can make any money from your a song is if you actually paid before you can download that song. If you check music platforms like iTunes, Deezer, you get to pay for those songs, regardless of the mb you're still going to spend on downloading the songs.
But if you're visiting these free websites, the only set of people making money from your downloads is the network providers you bought mb from
they get paid on streaming platforms also infact they are lot of ways they monitize their songs these days

Chai. I missed the 225 party too. But make I follow stand here grin

I want to thank all who have been here with me on this journey these 3 years. I always knew that by the grace of the Almighty that we would be here this long. I have famously said that this is a story that will not end, even though these days I will say that it is a story that will not end any time soon grin

I want us to see 2 million views on this thread! 1 million would have happened a lot earlier if we hadn't moved to the permanent sight. And we would probably have also reached page 300 by now. But it's all good. katakatastreet.com or not, this is still a Nairaland story. I still love it here. The permanent sight mainly allows me to comfortably write f.uck as what it is and not Bleep. And for that, I am very grateful grin

It was nice seeing folks register on page 225. May I specially mention maggilove. It's unbelievable that it was her first comment. I always saw her viewing on the bottom of the page all the time all these years and I was sure she had said something on the thread. Nice to have you here ma'am.

Seeing tsharp, YINKS89, INDUSTRIALFAN on page 225 as well was super heartwarming. These guys have been there as early as pages 1 and 4. Incredible. Thanks guys. You rock!

And then I should thank all the newer fans and the ghost readers who still had the mind to remain ghosts all this time. God bless you o! But know that I am still here because guys like EkopSparoAyara, Ann2012 never stopped rooting. If they were also ghosts, I'm not sure we would have seen page 225. Most times, it only takes those words of encouragement to remove writer's block and have the juice flowing again for yet another episode.

I also particularly loved those "I used to be a ghost reader but I have repented" comments. At some point, I made sure to respond to every single one of them. Thanks guys.

Now I should mention some of my old favourites I don't see that much anymore but who have made this journey worth the while. sheycrown, preetiex, HelenBee, DaV8King, Dhavido, honourable356, Pinkfeet, kikiwendy, KpagoGIN, phoenixchap, MhizSuccess, and others too numerous to mention. I suspect most of you have now become ghosts grin I appreciate y'all.

Let's keep doing this guys. See you at the permanent site wink kiss

I'm honored to be a part of something as wonderful as this.... Ts been a long ride but ts worth it. May we witness more of this in health and wealth.. thanks boss

Yea, ive read everything on the site, just waiting for the next update. You know wasiu and iniquity were caught on their way from ondo to lag for drug and are in prison. And the keke issue was not tackled before iniquty's arrest.
I salute your courage for reading it for that long left to me I wouldn't even start but based on review u would be tempted... Now back to the story, some characters would naturally die natural death in a story due to their relevance and some based on how important they are would always come back. Such is the case of alfa, he is not really relevant in the story so his character is just like soldier go soldier come... But people like wasiu will always be relevant until he is killed... This is not the first time he is gone and came back so be rest assured if he is still in the story he'll always find his way back either by jail break or release a perfect example of that play is the series movie HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER... The last episode where Laura came to testify against Annalise after a whole season of non- appearance

Lol....

No mind me jare. I have been having a sort of Writer's block the past few days as my mind keeps on quavering between telling my story and other things of life. However, that's over now and I have been able to settle my mind a bit as the ripple effect of this virus keeps on expanding every day.

Back to the story: I think I have done enough character development for the major players in the tale and is now time for me to cut to the chase. We all know the area where Alex is failing at the moment but I don't think he, himself, knows what he did wrong that capitulated everything. Honestly, I didn't know myself because things happened so fast, it was hard to find my errors, initially. But, through writing this tale, I am beginning to see them but credit due to me – as one of you guys have pointed out earlier – I have been able to make it seem like I didn't know this in the exact fashion that it happened few years ago.

This is not fiction but what actually happened and I want people to learn from it.

Updates will return to nearly normal either from tomorrow or the day after. The story has peaked, it's now time to see the reason behind the writings leading to now. I thank you and everyone else reading, liking and sharing the story for your patience. God bless you all.

Stay safe and pray.
I have a feeling solo is also the character (Alex) writing about himself but who am I to decide when am not the writer coz have start to put two plus two together.... I'll elaborate on my point if solo permits but if not let me just enjoy the story
