Politics / Ogun Guber Crisis: Amosun Accuses Tinubu, Osoba, Oshiomhole Of Fraud by ymedia(m): 3:24pm On Oct 23, 2018
Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and former governor Olusegun Osoba, of being the brains behind the alleged fraudulent APC governorship primary that produced Dapo Abiodun as the state’s governorship candidate of the party.

In the same vein, he accused the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, of conniving with Tinubu and Osoba, to ensure Abiodun remains 2019 governorship candidate of APC, having allegedly concocted the fake governorship primary poll results presented to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

The governor levelled these allegations against the trio, shortly after the swearing in ceremony of the new Chief Judge of the state, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, yesterday, in Abeokuta.

Amosun said the alleged silence of Tinubu and Osoba on the political imbroglio smacks of their alleged involvement in the electoral fraud.

He, however, challenged the two APC national leaders to come out from their shells and rebut the allegations, asking them to be courageous enough and engage him directly, instead of hiding behind a finger.

He said: “The president (Muhammadu Buhari) knew there was no election in Ogun State. He knows they just went to Lagos, wrote all results, and what they did is fraud. If the NWC or the national chairman said there was any election in Ogun State, it was all fraud. That is what I said.

“Mr President already knows, there was no election in Ogun State, other than the one (that of his caucus) we held.

“The issue of Chief Osoba and Asiwaju (Tinubu) and Co, what we said was that there was an indefinite silence from their end, and silence means consent. You can record me (telling the journalists that were present) and publish in your newspapers.

“We have not heard one word from any of them. Was there any election in Ogun State? Yes or No? They should come out and those who are hiding behind one finger, they cannot come out? People at this level should be courageous enough to take position, to come out, to come and tell us whether there was election.

“On governorship, they (Osoba’s caucus) said they did it. The one we had, there was live telecast and people witnessed it; how come they are changing that again.

“They (through alleged connivance of the two APC chieftains) removed Leke Adewolu, Commissioner for Special Duties, who now vies for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency in the Houses of Representatives and Mikail Kazeem, the incumbent House of Representatives member, representing Abeokuta North/Odeda/Obafemi-Owode Federal Constituency. All of those ones are nothing but fraud.”

Meanwhile, some councillors elected on the APC platform in the state, yesterday, stormed the Oke Mosan’s governor’s office on a peaceful protest, demanding the party’s NWC to recognise the candidacy of the consensus candidate of the Yewa Elders Council, Adekunle Akinlade.

The councillors, armed with placards with various inscriptions, converged on the Arcade Ground within the state secretariat, Abeokuta, at about 10:00 a.m.

Politics / Ogun APC : I Can’t Upturn Nwc’s Decision – Buhari Tells Amosun, Alake by ymedia(m): 11:58am On Oct 22, 2018
What appeared as last minute efforts by the Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, to have the governorship candidacy of Hon. Abdul-Kabir Adekunle Akinlade upheld was, on Sunday, suffered a setback as President Muhammadu Buhari was said to have declared that he lacked the power to upturn the decision taken by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the matter.

Governor Amosun had, on Sunday, led the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, the Olu of Ilaro and the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle and the former Minister of State for Education, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, to allegedly plead with President Buhari, to intervene in the happenings in Ogun APC.

The details of the meeting could not be immediately ascertained, but according to a reliable source, the president made it clear to the delegate that he could not interfere in the party affairs, especially on the decision that had been decided upon and ratified by the NWC.

The source further informed our correspondent that members of the delegation, which met with the president around mid-day, had flown to Abuja around 8.30a.m from Lagos on a chattered flight, to exert their influence on Buhari to prevail on the national leadership of the party, to allow Amosun’s anointed governorship candidate scale through as APC candidate in the state.

This plea, according to the source, was declined by the president, who declared the delegation that intervening in the issue would negate his principle of non interference in party affairs.

Though, as as the time of filing this report, there was no official statement on the reason for the delegate’s visit to Abuja, but the source insisted that the visit was simply to paint Dapo Abiodun as a wrong APC governorship candidate and make case for Akinlade.

Earlier, the campaign organization of Dapo Abiodun, had raised the alarm over an attempt to upturn the victory of Abiodun as the Ogun State APC governorship candidate.

In a statement by the Director of Media of the organisation, Emmanuel Ojo, the organisation claimed it was aware of concluded plans by the state governor to commission two highly revered Paramount Rulers from Ogun State to go and plead with President Buhari not to accept the candidature Abiodun, who according to it remained the valid candidate of the party.

The statement reads in part: “Having failed with so many attempts geared towards legalising illegality, including a botched attempt to get an ex parte order at the Federal High Court Abeokuta, on Friday, October 19, it is quite unfortunate that Governor Amosun is using his position of authority to unduly influence and mobilize respected traditional leaders for such hatched job.

“This act is capable of desecrating the symbol of peace and unity which our traditional leaders stand for and must be widely condemned by concerned citizens of Ogun State at home and abroad.

“Our traditional leaders should not be dragged into this kind of murky politics which is heavily laden with ulterior and selfish motive being singlehandedly pursued by the governor, who is frantically and desperately looking for every possible means to upturn the final decision of party members in the state, and duly ratified by the NWC of our great party.

“We all know that our dear president is a peace loving man whose integrity cannot be compromised. He will not upturn the mandate that had been freely given to Prince Dapo Abiodun by all members of Ogun APC, in a bid to satisfy any personal interest.

“The general public is hereby put on notice, as we call on well-meaning citizens of Ogun State to kindly find out the real reason behind Mr. Governor’s desperate moves to install Hon Akinlade at all cost. It appears there is more to this than meet the eyes.

Politics / Southwest Will Get Juicy Appointments In Atiku’s Government – Ex-governor by ymedia(m): 11:55pm On Oct 21, 2018
Southwest will get Juicy Appointments in Atiku’s Government – Ex-Governor

Gbenga Daniel, Director General, Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation, says the position of Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) will go to the South-west if Mr Abubakar wins the presidency.

Mr Daniel, a former governor of Ogun State, made the declaration at an interactive session with journalists on Sunday in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the PDP had initially zoned its national chairmanship to the South-west, but later picked Uche Secondus from the South-south.

Also, Mr Abubakar’s running mate, Peter Obi, hails from the South-east.

“We need to understand that the candidate has control over who becomes his running mate during the election and who becomes the SGF if he wins.

“The decisions on major offices are being given serious consideration and no zone or region will be marginalised.

“The offices of Senate President and Speaker of the House of Reps will be decided after the polls and based on what plays out in both houses.

“Aside from major slots, I think what is paramount to the people of the South-west is restructuring of the country, which Atiku is very serious about.

“So the issue for the South-west is not personality or slot issue per say because personalities come and go but restructuring Nigeria is significant and more symbolic than zoned offices,” he said.

On Mr Abubakar’s manifesto, Mr Daniel said that it would be published as soon as the campaigns kick off.

Politics / Don’t Expect Change In A Night, I Am Not A Magician, Fayemi Tells Ekiti People by ymedia(m): 11:29pm On Oct 21, 2018
Kayode Fayemi, governor of Ekiti state, says he is not a magician who would make the challenges facing the state to disappear within a day.

He said this on Sunday while speaking at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral Church, Ado-Ekiti, where a thanksgiving mass held for the inauguration of his government.

He was sworn in on Tuesday.

“Yes, we know there are huge expectation from width and breadth of the state and we won’t disappoint them,” he said.

“I am not a magician but a child of the Almighty God because some people believe all the challenges facing Ekiti state will disappear within in a day. Yes By Almighty God’s grace, it will surely disappear.”

The former minister appreciated the Catholic and other churches for their “unwavering support”.

“Our emergence is to make a difference in the life of Ekiti state and the lives of our people, to serve and not be served and to show that the power of the people is greater than that of those in power,” he said.

“We have a lot of work to do and this is a collective rescue mission, to reclaim our land and restore our values, so we seek Ekiti kete cooperation. Within the next one year, Gossy water will be back.”

Felix Ajakaiye, presiding priest of the church, prayed for Fayemi and Bisi, his wife, and the state in general.

He tasked the governor and his deputy, Bisi Egbeyemi to work hard to fulfil their electoral promises and minimise wastage in government.

Dignitaries at the event were Iyiola Omisore, Social Democratic Party governorship candidate in the last Osun guber poll; Bamidele Olomilua, former governor of Ondo state; Eniola Ajayi, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Hungary; Opeyemi Bamidele, a former federal lawmaker;
Adedayo Adeyeye, a former minister, among others.
