Literature / My Sh*t Experience by yoboworld: 7:47am On Jan 21, 2017
3:30AM when men had their bodies in tight romance with their beds and pillows, i was in my peaceful slumber when i heard complete rumbling, loud music, jubilation and dancing, one that can only be compared to the biggest African festival, in confusion, I scanned my memory if had taken badly prepared pepper soup....

The people are happy, they took to the street to celebrate, super charged, no one could explain where this sudden burst of ecstatic energy flowed from but it had drowned them...  The slaps on the drums were as perfect as the rhythmic throwing of legs and bodies, even the earth beneath them deserved a medal for playing host to such fantabulous occasion of merryment. But the landlord was not getting any of it, owner of the everywhere, everyone is happy but he is unsettled.... Landlord turns left and right but is seems the more I turned the more the celebration got on a higher frequency......

In anger oga landlord pushes every single one out, drums and sticks, dancers and onlookers, food merchants and tax collectors, he forces everyone out of the street..... Hmmmm!!! Hmmmm!!! With a very tight and squeezed face, that kinda warrior look, Oga landlord pushes them even harder until the last makes way hurriedly out of the street by the final release of the anal sphincter.

I don't know how the festival is going now but the last I saw of the party people was a colorful sight in the toilet bowl before flushing I trust they would continue that party in the septic tank and this time oga landlord is settled.   #midnight #toiletExperience

Celebrities / 2016 Headies!!! Adekunle Gold Is The Real Next Rated by yoboworld: 8:47pm On Dec 29, 2016
2015 headies awards had all the drama to make it go down as the most talked about award night ever in Nigeria. Olamide the self-acclaimed king of the street came on stage to make, perhaps, a seemly bold comment about his then YBNL label mate Lil Kesh losing out in the next rated category to Mavin’s Reekado banks.

One year later and Olamide should be doing same as it came as a shock that Adekunle Gold another of his label mate was not nominated for the next rated category of the Nigerian Grammy.

Adekunle who released his debut single ‘sade’ a cover of one direction’s ‘story of my life’ in 2014 took us all over with his follow up single ‘orente’ released in 2015 which got him a nomination as the most promising act of the city people awards 2015…..

Moving on to 2016 and the boy now has his feet deeply rooted in the music game as he is now a household name silencing critics with the release of his debut album ‘GOLD’ which peaked at #7 on the billboard world music chart about 3 weeks after release, and his name on every major event and an international tour earlier in the year thanks to the success of the album, he deserves much more and the next rated award should have been an easy sweep

While Tekno did not accept being nominated for the headies next rated category 2016, here is an artiste who should be going home with the 2016 price totally overlooked.

2015 Adekunle won the best alternative song at the headies with ‘sade’ and 2016 his brighter and golden year his song ‘pick up’ was nominated for best pop single, best alternative song and song of the year but it is just totally surprising that he was overlooked for next rated award category.

Congratulation to the winner Mr. Eazi but if you or anyone from your camp should say ‘’egbon Olamide or any Adekunle’s fan if you want the award should come and collect it’’ I will be at your door post to collect the award and deliver it to Adekunle Gold… **walks away, badoo style**..

Crime / The Killing Of The ‘seven Year Old Boy’ And The Failure Of Our Institutions by yoboworld: 11:39am On Nov 28, 2016
nigerian-passportThe Fund for Peace, a Washington D.C. based non-profit, non-governmental research and educational institution, in its 12th annual Fragile States Index (FSI) released on June 29, 2016 ranked Nigeria as one of the world’s most unstable countries. Nigeria was ranked alongside war-torn Afghanistan, Haiti, Iraqi, Guinea, Pakistan, Burundi and Zimbabwe. The organisation went ahead to classify Nigeria as “high alert” meaning that the situation in Nigeria had worsened compared to the previous year and the classification is one level shy of the “very high alert” which comprises countries like Syria, Somalia, Central Africa Republic, Congo Democratic Republic, Yemen, Chad, Sudan and South Sudan where peace had totally collapsed. It has to be noted that the exercise is an annual ranking of 178 nations based on their levels of stability and the pressures they face.

In the book, There Was a Country, Chinua Achebe defined a failed state in two ways. First, as one that is “unable to perform its duties on several levels when violence cascades into an all-out internal war, when standards of living massively deteriorate, when the infrastructure of ordinary life decays, and when the greed of rulers overwhelms their responsibilities to better their people and their surroundings”. Second, one in which “central state authority collapses for several years”.

7-year-oldTHE INCIDENT

There were two different accounts concerning the boy’s death. The first account was that he stole some quantity of garri and that was very pathetic because I see no reason anybody should lose his life for stealing a cup of garri. The account maintained that the boy that was lynched was 7 years. This ‘garri’ story shows the hunger and anger in the land due to the harsh economic policies of the present APC government. The second account which started trending on the social media 24 hours after the incident narrated how the boy was a member of a gang that terrorised that area. The gang was said to have thrown a lady from a bridge for her courage to drag her purse with the members of the gang and the account went on to reveal how the gang had stabbed their victims in the course of their nefarious operations in that area of Lagos. It maintained that the boy was more that 7 years and that some members of the gang were once arrested and handed over to the police but were later released after allegedly bribing the police. Whether the first or the second account is correct, all I know is that the boy I watched on YouTube being lynched was far less than 18 years.

police

THE POLICE

There are intriguing questions seeking answers about the incident. First, one would wonder how the incident passed without police officers coming to disperse the crowd and to rescue the poor boy. Perhaps, the police officers posted to that area of Lagos were busy collecting their ‘roger’ from commercial drivers; hence, there was no need leaving the juicy part of their job for dispersion of the crowd. But assuming that the second account is true, it shows that the people have lost confidence in the police. In saner climes, people call the police when there is any need and the confidentiality of such call is maintained. However, in the Nigerian situation, we have read in the news how kidnappers would call the relatives of their victims to tell them every detail about the report such relatives made to the police even when it was supposed to be confidential. Thus, the second account said that some of the members of the gang were once arrested and handed over to the police but they were allegedly released after bribing their way through hence the people who had been victims of the gang’s operations did not want to take chances again with the poor boy’s case.

The above allegation calls for the re-evaluation of our police force. The divisional police officer manning that area must explain to Nigerians why his men were never seen until the deed was done. This is because the Nigerian police force is known by their usual questions like wey dem in such incidents. For instance, armed robbers could be robbing in a particular area and if someone summoned the courage to call in the police, they would never get to the venue until after several hours. When the robbers had left, the police would come shouting wey dem, wey dem and at the same time making life uncomfortable for the citizenry by blocking all major roads as if the robbers either told them they were coming back or were still in the neighbourhood. The most unfortunate thing is that sometimes hours after the robbers had left the police would begin to arrest passers-by to boost their “revenue.” Of course, Nigerians are aware that I no follow is N5, 000.00K.

Interestingly, police in Lagos state have recently issued a statement on the matter that the age of the late boy must be between 20 and 25. I again ask, how did the police arrive at that, did they use any dating device or did they see the late boy’s birth certificate? The recent news has it that the police have just exhumed the boy’s decomposing body for further investigations ,I ask again where were the police when the poor boy was being lynched? That is still the same ‘Wey dem’ pattern of our police services.

parentTHE PARENTS

The lynching of the lad also showed another case of failed parental responsibilities. Many couples are busy producing children they do not know how to take care of. Imagine a child of that age not being in school by that time of the day or worst still be in a place he was learning trade/skill. It has to be noted that due to the present economic recession in the country, many parents have mandated their children to go out and hustle in order to contribute to the welfare of the family. The girls go into prostitution early in life and the boys are left on the streets where they can easily be recruited to one gang or the other. As I watched that poor boy being lynched on YouTube, the question that flickered through my mind was if there was joy the day the boy was born and if the mother carried him in the womb for nine months? Life in indeed is worth nothing in this part of the globe.

religion OUR RELIGION

I still maintain that Africa should have been a better place if not for the imported religions that bedevil the continent. Today, the government and our religious houses are issuing conflicting pieces of advice concerning childbirths. The government tells her citizens to give birth to the number of children they can take care of whereas our religious leaders quote the different parts of our holy books on how children are blessings from

Politics / See Ex SUG President’s Note Just Before Edo Election by yoboworld: 10:40am On Oct 11, 2016
Barr. Itote Damisa, regarded as one of the most vocal S.U.G president of Edo state owned Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma has ever had gave his view on Edo politics via a facebook post on 27th September just before Edo went to polls.

Damisa who was president in 2011 led the students in a march against government increase in school fees at that time still remains a favorite among the student community

Candidate of the APC, Mr. Godwin Obaseki won the election held on 28th September ahead of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the PDP

EDO DECIDES: THE EMERGENCE OF YOUNGER SETS OF LEADERS THROUGH IZE-IYAMU.

By the grace of Almighty God, Edo State will be having another date with destiny come tomorrow the 28th day of September, 2016.
Like I have always done at critical electioneering moments, I have once again taken a fair, objective, credible and balanced analysis of the Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole’s tenure as Edo State governor.

My conclusion is simple: the first four years were not really wasted years.
However, this last term has fallen abysmally poor and below the expectations of discerning minds in Edo State.

Forget the sustained media hype and propaganda. Those on ground know better.
A man who rose to power purely on populist policies suddenly began to enac

Jobs/Vacancies / Workplace Wisdom Comes From Being Both Vulnerable And Courageous by yoboworld: 10:02am On Oct 11, 2016
Diversity of thought fuels wisdom. If you are courageous and wise enough to accept this fact, you will not be afraid to be more vulnerable, take ownership of this mindset, and lead the new normal.
Knowledge is what is gathered over time. Wisdom, in turn, enables us to act properly upon that knowledge.

As leaders, one of our primary responsibilities is to maximize the potential of the people we serve and allow them to discover their own wisdom. We mustn’t encourage them to always follow and be guided by the wisdom of others.

Becoming wiser means allowing others to become wiser too. If you don’t fuel wisdom in others, it makes it difficult for an organization to sustain competitive advantage over time. This is what happens when we get caught in the trap of an executive-mindset – expecting employees to do (execute) what they are told, rather than encouraging independent thinking from each team member and the diversity of thought that allows us to seize opportunities previously unseen.

Are you creating distinction for your leadership by enabling your employees to share their own thoughts and perspectives and be original too? Everyone sees the world and their place at work differently. Do you expect others to mimic your way of thinking or are you courageous enough to let them create their own distinction?

Why is cultivating wisdom in the workplace so important? During a time when businesses and brands are attempting to break free from the status quo and reinvent themselves, two factors are different today than at any other time in modern history:

1. The speed of change is telling us that what may be relevant today, may be extinct sooner than you think; and

2. The Cultural Demographic Shift is telling us that it’s becoming less about the business defining the individual, and much more about the individual defining the business

Jobs/Vacancies / 7 Clear Signs You Are Making Progress In Your Career by yoboworld: 9:21am On Oct 11, 2016
uccess means different things to different people.

For many, accumulating wealth or power are definitive signs of achievement. For you, it may be as simple (or complex) as being happy.

And although an attitude of continuous self-improvement reaps great rewards, it’s beneficial to stop every now and then and appreciate what we’ve already accomplished.

With that in mind, here are seven unexpected signs that you’re more successful than you think:

1. You’ve Made Tons of Progress

When I was struggling to learn a language, a wise person once told me: “Don’t think about how far you’ve got to go. Look back, and consider how far you’ve already come.”

This principle applies across our lives. Think about the version of yourself from five years ago. What experience have you collected? What lessons have you learned?

The truth: You’ve come a long way.

2. You Set Your Own Priorities

Your business may not be making millions, but you love what you do. Or, you’ve learned the invaluable lesson that money can’t buy more time—so you spend as much of that time as you can with family and friends (or doing what’s important to you).

Establishing priorities is half the recipe for success. The other half is sticking to them.

3. You Love to Learn

You’re a voracious reader. You love to try new things. You don’t mind making mistakes.

Why? Because every new journey

Romance / Meet Man Who Fathered 100 Children By Offering Free Service On Facebook by yoboworld: 4:17pm On Oct 08, 2016
A sperm donor claims he could have fathered up to 100 children in four years by offering his services for free on FACEBOOK.

Matt Stone, 37, from Raleigh in North Carolina, USA, has revealed he is contacted “by ten people a day” through the social media site who are seeking his siring service.

His first experience in the world of sperm donation came over ten years ago, when he temporarily worked for a sperm bank.

He started his own Facebook page 4 years ago – Matt Stone (Shipping Donor) – where he offers his sperm to couples and single women providing they pass his vetting process.
In his questionnaire, he asks about their background, income and even checks out how their relationships appear online, all to ensure the children will be born into happy families.

He claims to help up to eight people a week and as many as 20 women could currently be carrying the children.
To date, he has at least 70 known children but believes there could be well over 100 as many recipients don’t report successful pregnancies to them.

Matt, who works in IT, said: “With every successful pregnancy it’s incredibly rewarding, I’ve helped couples with fertility issues and those in gay marriages to have the dream they would never otherwise be able to have.

Career / How Resilient People Get Through Really Tough Times by yoboworld: 1:15pm On Oct 08, 2016
If someone just read you the riot act, or you had your you-know-what handed to you by a boss or a peer, it’s human to feel down and want to process your thoughts. Just don’t dwell there too long, or you may venture into victim mentality.
Recovering emotionally from a challenging work moment doesn’t happen with the flip of a switch. But you have to move on at some point to keep your sanity.

Here are five ways resilient people manage their emotions and bounce back to their true form.

1. They Assess Their Situation

Resilient people use their emotional intelligence to do an honest self-appraisal of the situation(s) that may still be making them feel uneasy. They process their thoughts carefully and drill down until they get to the root of the matter.

Question for you: What is it about your situation that makes you feel the way you do? If something unresolved still lingers, nip that problem in the bud right away. If you don’t, you’ll feel perpetually frustrated and angry.

2. They Stop the Drama Playing in Their Heads

While healthy egos may take a hit in a crisis, resilient minds recover quickly by re framing.

What is that, you ask? Think of it as a technique to “tell yourself a different story” and come up with a different interpretation. This helps snuff out the drama that you may be scripting in your head. So deal with the factual (what’s really true) and the here and now. Leave the ghosts of your past in the past.

3. They Have Remarkably Healthy Boundaries

Perhaps what hit you so hard was due to your lack of setting limits on others. Maybe you were falsely accused of something that could’ve been avoided. The most resilient people recover from bad situations by saying “no” to anyone who interferes with their goals, schedules, and especially their values and beliefs.

So remind yourself you don’t have to be a yes-person for anyone—it takes too much effort

Politics / Edo State Government Releases Statement On Passing Of Oba Of Benin by yoboworld: 5:14pm On Apr 29, 2016
Powered by:
EDO in SAFE HANDS GROUP: Support Our Comrade Governor CHOICE 2016.

Oba of Benin: Our hearts are heavy —Oshiomhole
April 29

Our hearts are heavy, laden with pains and grief, at the announcement of the passing on to glory of Omo n’Oba n’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Erediauwa of Benin, our highly revered Oba, a distinguished Edo numero uno, an accomplished Nigerian, a seasoned bureaucrat, quintessential unifier, unique personage and exemplary Omo N’Oba, whose reign brought distinction, immense class, finesse and integrity to traditional institution in Edo state and the country at large.

His carriage comes with an élan that was peculiar with the reverence of royalty. His uncommon courage was symbolic of the can-do spirit of the Edo mind. His unity of purpose was not in doubt even as he used his revered position to promote constructive engagement amongst all shades of opinion and culture in Edo state. As a thorough-bred bureaucrat, rising to the pinnacle of his career as a Federal Permanent Secretary, he understood the dynamics and intricacies of governance. He was the alternative voice to the many voiceless in our society, calling government attention to issues of development and transparent governance, without minding whose ox is gored. He was brave, fearless, punchy and instructive in his verbal and written messages.

To us at the Edo state Government, he was our strongest supporter; both in his uncommon faith in our ability and his readiness to offer uncommon advice to sharpen public discourse in our shared commitment to transform Edo state. It gladdens our heart, therefore, that our revered Oba was alive to witness the positive transformation of Edo state under his reign, and for standing with us through thick and thin in the course of making the Edo economy a treasure to behold. Being part of that eloquent history of transformation before his reunion with his ancestors gives us further reassurance that he will occupy a special pride of place in the hereafter.

We are enveloped with a deep sense of nostalgia that our great Oba, a great-grandfather, grandfather, father, uncle and iconoclastic royal father of exemplary carriage and conduct, who sustained the dignity of the average Edo mind, has joined his ancestors. We are, however, encouraged by the fact that another great son of the Great Benin Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Edaiken N’Uselu, Crown Prince Eheneden Erediauwa, who is already showing manifest quintessential attributes of his great father, will step into his father’s big shoes.

Edo people will miss our iconoclastic royal father of the great Benin Kingdom. Nigerians and Nigeria will miss this great exemplar of a Royal Father, an Oba of distinction and integrity. Adieu until we meet to part no more.

Oba gha to kpere, ise.

It's funny how you can be putting all this effort and nothing is changing and all anyone can say is 'try harder', 'do more' and you damn well know you ain't lazy and you ain't holding back but you are gonna break if you just stretch any further.
Just as they say the results from a test does not define the smartest person in a class so does progress in our world does not define the best thinkers and hardest workers.
We just live in a stupid world where the variables doesn't just favour the common man, and for integrity sake you don't wanna soil your hands with the dirts of fraud and corruption that seems to be the only fertile ground available to the youth of our generation.
You get a decent education, push yourself beyond your limits to even work outside the confines of your school paper and still can't nail a good job. Only for the people who weren't interested in personal development to call the shots either cos they have routers as family members, neighbors or sugar daddies or mummies or cos they have themselves amassed illegal funds to buy themselves entrance into the Eden garden
To even add salt to injury we now have a government who is so focused on funds to pay back campaign expenditures than thinking of a way to help those that voted and conducted the elections (NYSC ad- hoc staffs) that brought it to Power... a friend said I am proud to be a Nigerian and he got a shocker reply from another who said God did not do him any Favour by making him come from this nonsense of a geographic mistake.........
Need I say more? Dis is exactly how I feel after a hard day of job hunting and thinking of going to my personal business this evening that would hardly even return 5 USD.....
