Your prayer worked, bro. Thank you so much. It was delivered to Benin City yesterday the 25th of July and I was able to pick it up today the 26th. Although I had to pay 14,908 Naira for custom and some other charges totaled in the receipt.

There were two names(Mine and my friend's) in the package, because I thought they would deliver it to the address put on it so that my friend can sign for it on my behalf since I wouldn't be there. When I attempted to pick it up yesterday at the EMS wing of the NIPOST, I was asked to go bring my bvn verification printout with my picture in it from the bank, and that of my friend too - it was shocking that my ID wasn't enough to pick up the item.

I got angry because I didn't know what the importance of bvn was to the pick-up even though the name on the package matched my ID. Oh well, I've learned just like I love to, everyday. This was my first time receiving a package from NIPOST/EMS, and the others.

Yes, custom declaration was done. It was sent on the 16th, but it seems it's yet to arrive Nigeria because I just left EMS office in my city a few minutes ago. I need to receive it not later than the 27th July or yawa go dey for me one kind. I was of the impression that 3-5 business days means just that.

NIPOST (EMS) PARCEL RECEIVER FEES

I have ordered certain equipment and items for an ongoing business venture through Ali Express and it was delivered at the Victoria Island Post Office.

I usually get calls or text messages from NIPOST personnel informing me about the arrival/delivery of the goods. However, the Post Office Officials keep demanding for a 'fee' and claiming they establish the fee based on the weight of the goods. Now these fees are not officially receipted and no document is issued by these NIPOST staff. At least something to show that as a public servant, they have legally collected money from a citizen for approved administrative services and for the citizen to show he/she has paid a service fee to the Government.

Recently, I have had a lot of arguments with them on this. The worry is, if one refuses to pay, they might mark one's name and goods, then frustrate future efforts at importing anything. This money they ask for is seemingly illegal. Funny thing is they even send SMS to notify you of the parcel and the fee they expect you to pay.

Who else experiences this at the Nigerian Postal Service? What I try to do is negotiate what ever the NIPOST Staff are asking for, the moment it goes above 500 Naira.

Are there better ways of handling this?

Thx i know it have been with custom for more than 2 weeks and i have called USPS to call their representative there to tell custom to release my pkg and i have told the receiver to go to IMPC at the MMi airport to see what they can do from there

I can't track it that the issue right now, I have been to nipost almost five times they keep telling me maybe it has arrive and she should go to the nearest post office, I dnt understand, if nipost are not sure of my package delivery how then will I track it?
