i'm guessing the Op must have saved up some capital. Good move though and I wish you success in your future endeavor. |
Buhari should be ready to take on the hastle and challenges involved in being the petroleum minister. He should be ready to attend senate and house of rep frequent summons and interrogation as they did Allison. He must drop his 'presidential' priviledges and be ready to submit, defend budgets and attend house committees summons whenever they call. He should have all these at the back of his head should he choose to make himself the petroleum minister. That's my take on this. Thank y'all |
I learnt the students just finished writing their exams last week |

Akitu understands that it is better for him to support Jonathan so that in the next 4 yrs when power returns back to the north he could get a shot at it. Rather than supporting Buhari because if he wins, it means another 16 yrs before the power would return to the North and men like Atiku cannot afford that 16yrs wait. |
egift:Please sir, you just asked Lovat to face the topic, please do likewise. Thank you. |
This topic have been created to finally lay to rest the war of popularity between the pro PDP and pro APC folks on Nairaland. A thread was created few days ago asking who would you vote for if elections were to be conducted now. And of course the pro APC folks got the highest number of Likes. But then again, another thread was created to counter it, claiming that the number of Likes on any pro APC post was as a result of numerous monikers created by them just for the purpose of dashing out Likes. He also argued that the mods could also be responsible for inflating the number of Likes for the pro APC group (I personally don't think this is plausible, but then again, it just could be...) So I have taught about this and decided to give you guys a chance to test your popularity on Nairaland by following these simple set of rules that I have come up with. If these rules are adhere to strictly, it would determine the true state of event. Let's get started with the rules; 1. One moniker, one vote. What this means is that you can only vote once, if you are caught voting more than once, your initial one vote would be rendered null and void. 2.This vote would not be determined by the number of Likes you get. NO! All you need do is type #GMB for the pro APC folks and #GEJ for the pro PDP folks. Nothing more. Just those 4 letters. Don't tell us why you are voting for your candidate. Just either #GMB or #GEJ 3. The number of Likes you get on either votes would count for nothing. What this means is that weather you get 100+ Likes for a single #GMB or #GEJ post, it would still count as just one vote. 4. Finally, here comes the most interesting part. By simply clicking on the monikers, you can view their profiles, previous post and topics. Any moniker that has not had more 10 posts (prior to this day) in his/her previous T/L on Nairaland, such monikers would be regarded as bogus and inactive and their votes won't count. This is to filter off those guys that create multiple monikers for the simple reason on giving out Likes. 5. I will be updating the results at the end of each day and if there are invalid or disqualified votes that won't count, I would copy of the monikers involved and clearly state out the reasons why there votes were not valid. Now, let's get started. Remember only #GMB or #GEJ. No Likes or Shares please. p.s. This test is aimed to only reflect the popularity on Nairaland and not at the elections, only INEC can determine that after March 28. CC: Obinoscopy, OAM4J, Seun please move this topic where it can get a lot of exposure in the politics section. thank you |
the 'crowd' in the video were meant to be members of the press, and such they shouldn't be partisan. #Shame |
GEJ is not on twitter. Did you see the account being verified?? He's only on Facebook and he has more than one million likes |

^^^^^ I thought Buhari attended Provincial Secondary School, Kaduna as stated in his press conference not Provincial Secondary School, Katsina as seen in the picture above. or are we missing something here ![]() |
Aventures:Not exactly. Ribbed floors usually span in only one direction (along the shorter span) while Waffle Slab spans in both directions. |
smallsmall:I have been following this thread from the sidelines, I usually do not comment much on topic, I rather prefer to just sit back and watch. But it seems your question has not been properly answered. Responding to it, basically the traditional suspended floor of mass concrete usually works on the basic principle of designing the slab to be able to carry its own weight (dead weight) plus live weight (humans/furniture etc) and these loads are transferred to the corresponding beams and then to the columns before finally to the foundation below. However, this type of floor where hollow clay-pots (red bricks) are used is referred to a Ribbed Floor. Like the name implies, basically its a system of constructing several little "T" like beams to form a rib system. These little "T" combined together forms a flat surface "-"at the top and the rib hangs below "|" . Lets take 10 "T"s for example and arrange them in an array thus "TTTTTTTTTT" you can clearly see that the top of the "T"s forms a flat surface, which is the slab and the bottom parts leaves a rib like structure of with voids(empty space) in between them. What you see with the clay-pots is an attempt to fill up those voids so that it can be properly dressed and plastered but the truth is that those bricks are not structural members (ie they do not carry/transmit any loads). As a matter of fact, the floor would still hold. It would even be stronger because these pots are actually imposed loads on the slabs, apart from bearing it own load and the live load, it still has to carry these bricks (though the self weights of these bricks are considered during the design). So logically, it would mean that if these bricks are ignored during construction, it definitely means there would be lesser load for the slab to carry. Why engineers continue to use these bricks rather than leaving it void, its basically because of aesthetics and it is also quite cumbersome in preparing the form-work with the all the ribs. I'm actually finding it difficult to explain this in simple terms, maybe a diagram could suffice

Crackjones, with the rate you are going, i wont be surprised if you end up in Yaba. Must you 'have a take' on everything?? You took time to carefully analyze pictures from President Jonathan's trip with the sole aim of asking silly questions. Get a life!!! |
He'd better, considering how fast his music career his falling. Don Jazzy should charge him double of what he normally charges |
Ngwakwe:Very well said. But you should know that this constitution was handed over to us by the Military and it gives the president more than the adequate power that made GEJ proclaim that if he uses just 40% of his constitutional powers, we would term him a dictator!! Secondly, we all know Nigeria democracy is not mature enough for full autonomy to the judiciary. Whether you like it or not, the president can influence judgement, after all he appoints the Attorney General and would also influence the Chief Justice. That's the kind of democracy we operate Nigeria. I remember during OBJ tenure, a serving governor was kidnapped and bundled into the boot of his vehicle because he was at logger head with the president. |
chamboy:If you had actually taken time to read through my post, you would clearly see that I did vote for Buhari during the 2011 and was hopping to still vote and campaign for him come 2015 until he became contaminated with dirty politicians. |

Secondly, are you saying that Buhari would prosecute the likes of Tinubu, Fashola, Ameachi, Kwankwanso etc should he become the president? Abeg no let them hear oh make them no go drop Buhari , the walls have ears you know.

I'm not much of a good writer but i'll try to make this peice as brief and stright to the point as possible. From my little understanding of politics, I know that being a member of a major political party comes with some benefit as well as some price. For instance when Oshimole chose to decamp from Labour Party(LP) to the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), he wasn't doing so because contesting under ACN would automatically grant him victory, NO! As a matter of fact, Oshomole was so popular at the time that even he formed a new party himself or even if he contested under Pastor Chris Okotie's Fresh Party, he would still win. So this brings us to the question, why did Oshimiole decamp to ACN knowing fully well that he would still win under LP? Simple, he needed better connections and representation at the election tribunal because he foresaw a possible rigging of the election and should that be the case, he would need better representation at the courts. ACN at time was already controlling majority of the South Western states, obviously, they had more money, more SANs and much more influence at the court, incase the result be contested and this was exactly what played out. Off course, these services are not entirely free as the leadership of ACN would definately demand some form of settlement/payback from Oshiomole which is a discuss for another day. Buhari's major weapon in his arsenal for election is his 'fight against corruption'. During the 2011 general election I, a Christian from the South, voted and campaigned in my own small way for Buhari simply because I felt we needed someone to tackle this corruption menace once and for all. A person from PDP cannot adequately do this because most of the top guns in our system today are in one way or the order affiliated to the PDP. I voted for Buhari simply because as at 2011, he formed his party out of nothing and hence he wouldn't be answerable to anybody. He didn't need to make any arrangement with any person or group of persons in order for him to be made the party's flag bearer. He was much more like a one man show, and O boy, that was my greatest joy. He would 'fight' corruption without fear or favor but maybe he might be bias towards religious and ethnic lines, who knows... Fast forward 2014, I was heartbroken when I first learnt of the merger and birth of APC of which CPC was among the merging parties and to further shatter the few piece that was left from my broken heart, Buhari announced his desire to run for presidency under APC. For the die hard GMB faithfuls, this might be a good news because Buhari would get access to much more campaign funds, publicity, SANs (should he lose the election and decide to challenge the results), etc. But to a concerned Nigerian, this spells doom. All these services offered are not for free, there has to be a price he would have to pay back. This means his presumed fight against corruption would be one sided. Targeted against the non APC people in government. Should he decide to audit all previous governors and public office holders, only those from the non APC states would face the general's wrath while the likes of Fayemi that spent N3B in building the government house, would be found guiltless, simply because he was part of the 'touch not my anointed' group of APC. The likes of Amaechi, Fashola, Al-Makura, etc would definitely be roaming free on the streets of Nigeria while their counterpart would be facing the law and Buhari's 'fight' against past 'corrupt' leaders. This is not the kind of fight against corruption that Nigerians are yearning for. This type of selective justice would only lead to more bitterness and further divide the country. Would I vote for Buhari under the APC, hell no! If he(Buhari) decides tomorrow to leave that group of thieves and vultures called the APC and set up a new party, would I vote for him, well maybe.... The CPC's Buhari will definitely not be the same APC's Buhari. The CPC-Buhari I know, but the APC-Buhari I don't know. Can the APC Buhari prosecute the likes of Tinubu, and his cohorts should he win the 2015 polls? |
