Notorious billionaire kidnapper Chukwudi Onuamadike aka Evans has continued to disclose details about his criminal activities to the media. In a session with journalists on Friday, June 16, Evans narrated how a bullion van transporting N200m cash was hijacked by him and his gang. According to him, the incident was one of three such attacks carried out by his gang on bullion vans. This one took place along Aba-Port Harcourt road. He said: “In 2007, I traveled to South Africa to deal in drug and returned to Lagos the following year after a customer, who did not want to pay for a drug I supplied him, shot me on the shoulder. “With the little money I had from my trip to South Africa, I came back to Nigeria and a friend of mine, Kingsley, introduced me to one of his gang members known as Too-Much-Money in Abia State. “Too-Much-Money got me involved in the bullion van robbery. We hijacked a tipper we found on the Aba-Port Harcourt Road to intercept the bullion van. “We forced the driver and his police escort to open the van. We got N80m from the van and I was given N1.8m as my share. “Another operation was in Enugu where I met a gang leader called ND. We adopted the same tactic to attack another bullion van containing N200m. "When we wanted to share the proceeds, ND collected our guns and gave us N200,000 each.” NAIJ.com previously reported that the notorious richest kidnap kingpin Chukwudubem Onwuamadike aka Evans who was arrested by men of the police force revealed more details about how he and his gang go about their kidnap operations. Evans also revealed how he paid his boy Uche, 2 million naira and above on every operation. Source: http://www.gist9aija.com.ng/2017/06/breaking-notorious-richest-kidnapper.html

The Senator representing Ogun east, Buruji Kashamu, has advised Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state to face his duty instead of asking President Muhammadu Buhari to resign. Kashamu described Fayose as a “misguided state governor” who is acting like a sick person for asking President Muhammadu Buhari to resign. Kashamu said when Nigerians are praying for the quick recovery of President Buhari, Fayose is insisting on the president’s resignation. It is an indication that the governor lives on “anti-depressant medicine.” In an advertorial in The Nation, Kashamu said, “It is most unfortunate that while eminent and responsible Nigerians are praying for the quick recovery of our dear President. ''All a misguided state governor could do, apart from chasing the shadows of an illusionary elongation of his tenure, is to call for the resignation of the President. Is there any vacuum in governance? No! “We are all living witnesses to the marvelous work that the structure that has been put in place by this government is doing seamlessly. Anybody can be sick. ‘’Fayose himself is the one acting like a sick person; his erratic and unpredictable nature gives the impression of someone who lives on anti-depressant medicine. “This is confirmed by his irrational call for the president’s resignation and compulsive rhetoric in the guise of opposition. The lawmaker noted that it’s unfortunate that Fayose: “burns his energy on unimportant things instead of using it to serve his people and fight for the interest of the Yoruba race”. He added: “He cannot leave the reins of power for anyone because he is power drunk. He cannot also trust anyone with power. The cloak of seeking to complete the seven months that he was denied in 2006, when he was impeached is a tall dream – an impossibility!” NAIJ.com earlier reported that Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti had called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign from his position as the president of Nigeria if he had any integrity. In a statement by Lere Olayinka who is his media aide the governor was quoted as saying president Buhari’s ill health has prevented him from discharging his constitutional duties. The governor also spoke about the Chibok girls’ saga which he described as an orchestrated plan that was used to blackmail former president, Goodluck Jonathan. Senior special assistant on legal matters to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, Bilkisu Saidu, says that most senior positions in the office of her principal are held by northerners, and that his meals are even served by Muslims. Saidu was reacting to comments credited to one Ismaila Farouk from Zamfara state that appointments made by the acting president into some federal agencies and in his office were lopsided. Speaking in an interview on BBC Hausa Radio on Sunday, the vice-presidential aide described the nepotism charges “as simply laughable, untrue, unfair and should not be taken seriously”. According to her, “most senior positions on the vice president’s office are held by Muslims including by individuals who are from the north”. “If you are talking about religion, the most senior official or position in the Office of the Vice-President apart from the vice-president himself is the office of the deputy chief of staff to the president and the name of the person occupying that office is Abdulrahman Ipaye and he is a Muslim,” she said. “The positions following the chief of staff’s in the order of hierarchy are the special advisers in the office of the vice-president. Here there are three special advisers and two out of the three special advisers are Muslims, Senator Babafemi Ojudu and Barrister Mariam Uwais from Kano state.” Saidu also said that a look at other senior positions in the vice-president’s office indicate that religious consideration was not a factor in the appointment of the officers, adding that “If you look at the remaining senior positions in that office, most of them are in the hands of Muslims from the north”. “For instance the person in charge of protocol (the director of protocol) is Ambassador Abdullahi Gwary from Yobe state; those in charge of welfare and health in the office of the vice-president are mostly Muslims and from the north,” she added. “Worthy of note are the stewards, those who serve the vice president’s meals, they are mostly Muslims, so what do the critics mean when they talk about religion.” Source: http://www.gist9aija.com.ng/2017/06/osinbajo-is-not-favouring-christians.html

Members of Senator Dino Melaye's constituency have commenced moves to recall him from the National Assembly. According to them, recalling the controversial Senator is in the best interests of Kogi West Senatorial Zone, Kogi State. The group, who claim they represent: Yagba West, Yagba East, Mopamuro, Ijumu, Kabba/Bunu, Koton-Karfe and Lokoja Local Government Areas say dignity will be restored to the Senate if Melaye is removed. The group, in a statement which was sent to Pulse News, said "We have compiled the key reasons below to show the world that Senator Dino Melaye’s recall is not only long overdue, but the right thing to do in the best interests of Kogi West Senatorial Zone, Kogi State, Nigeria, and in fact the institution and dignity of the distinguished Senate of the Federal Republic Republic. " "Dino Melaye has breached multiple codes of conduct by his deliberate acts and omissions and it is time the authorities acted to enforce the laws and the Constitution. Whether the appropriate authorities act or not, we the people of his constituency who are at the receiving end of his shameful deeds have run out of patience and are resolved to recall and replace him with a decent and people-oriented Senator. "We understand the requirements of S69 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 regarding the recall of such a member of the National Assembly and hereby assure everyone that Kogi Central Senatorial Zone is united in this and will achieve it. "We hereby give the Kogi State Government notice that we are going through with this and if they will not help us, they must also not try to stop us or put obstacles in our way, in particular, everything the Law requires to be done by the Administration in Lokoja in aid of this process must be done with despatch," they added. The aggrieved constituents also gave some reasons for their decision to recall Melaye. They are that: 1. He has not deemed it fit to have a Constituency Office in Kogi West Senatorial Zone even after 2 years in the Senate, meaning he has no presence in the Zone and we have no way of reaching our Senator. 2. He has no projects initiated in the constituency after 2 years in the Senate. 3. He is known for a continuous flow of irresponsible utterances which embarrass the constituency. For example: ‘I will beat…impregnate you’ referring to a fellow Senator and the wife of the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu. 4. Violence, thuggery and other electoral Offences against our people during elections. 5. He insulted former President Olusegun Obasanjo. 6. He insulted President Muhammadu Buhari. 7. He not only insulted Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, but he travelled all the way from Abuja to the leader's home in Lagos looking for a fight. 8. He insulted the Sultan of Sokoto, calling him an Islamist with a Muslim agenda in Kogi State, simply because His Eminence visited to celebrate the 1st Anniversary of the Government of His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello. 9. He routinely insults other leaders, elders and personalities. 10. He persists in portraying our Senatorial Zone as hostile to the Administrations of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari and His Excellency, Governor of Yahaya Bello of Kogi State respectively, for no just cause and not minding the impact on us. 11. He is notorious for conduct unbecoming of a Senator in the way and manner he relates to the Senate President as if he were a bodyguard or houseboy instead of a full Senator representing a proud constituency like us. 12. He is enmeshed in a pending certificate scandal - we now believe he lied to us about his academic qualifications, part of the basis of which he sold his candidature. 13. He has brought home no dividends of democracy to our Senatorial District. 14. He paints our dear Kogi State bad in the Press at every opportunity he gets for his own selfish political interests, many times without even a clear understanding of what he is talking about. 15. His source of wealth is questionable to us and certainly not the model we wish our youth to emulate. 16. He is indecent and deliberately corrupts public morals, for example, he routinely gives youths in the constituency who approach him for help N1000.00 or less, telling them to use it to buy condoms. 17. He is notoriously corrupt and has been caught on video scheming to steal the resources of Kogi State among himself and a few cronies calling us elephants to be killed and shared. 18. He is an electoral fraud and has been caught on audio offering a Judicial Officer money to decide an electoral matter in his favour. 19. He has no respect for Party democracy, and routinely flouts lawful decisions and directives of even his own party leadership. Some political observers say this might be a blow out of Senator Dino Melaye's beef with the Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello. A leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Somolu Local Government Area, Mr. Segun Adenuga has alleged irregularities in the conduct of the party’s ward primaries in the area. In a petition entitled: ‘Electoral fraud in Somolu LGA’, Mr. Adenuga alleged that “a monumental electoral fraud was recorded in Somolu local government area during the APC primary for the councillorship slot in the designated eight Wards of the Council on Monday, May 28, 2017.” Adenuga, a veteran journalist, said some chieftains of the party of were involved in massive electoral malpractices at the Wards as they “threw cautions to the wind by openly canvassing votes for their candidates.” Describing the ward primaries as a charade, he alleged that some party leaders colluded to thwart the conduct of the ward primaries in Somolu. He said: “The electoral officers, who were supposed to arrive at their duty post at 8 am, did not report at the designated venue at 1 Johnson Street for accreditation of voters. The electoral officers, who eventually arrived at 2.05pm, told the expectant crowds that they were being delayed at Somolu local government secretariat by some party leaders, where names on sheets sent from APC’s secretariat in Acme were being doctored to suite their whims and caprices.” In addition, he said: “the frenzied atmosphere at Johnson Street turned sour as supporters of the aspirants became agitated as there was no sign that the election would hold at Ward E centre. The electoral team led by a Police patrol were taken to Alade Police post, possibly to prevent irate supporters from venting their anger on the erring group. They were late escorted to the council secretariat where they were greeted with a plethora of banner-carrying protesters, calling for justice in defence of democracy. Three leading contenders in the race for the councillorship slot in the affected Ward have resolved to present their complaints to the APC leaders in their ward. “What could be more worrisome and embarrassing than seeing a popular party chieftain and a lawmaker openly throwing hist weight behind an aspirant. It is a matter of regret that the lawmaker could be privy to elections malpractices in his ward with brazen impunity. He was seen jubilating and hugging his anointed candidate, who garnered only five votes to beat other contestants in a ward where 500 voters were expected to cast their vote”, the petition stated. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has sympathised with the Oba of Lagos Rilwan Akiolu over the fire incident at his palace recently. The Oba of Lagos' palace was gutted by fire on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. Speaking to Premium Times, the Ooni’s Director of Media and Public Relations, Moses Olafare said “We are not happy over the fact that the palace of Lagos king got burnt, we can only sympathise with the palace on the development.” Following the fire incident, there were speculations that it occurred because the Oba Akiolu snubbed the Ooni of Ife at an event. In his response, Olafare said “People are entitled to their own views. But what people say doesn’t mean that is the position of the palace. What happened is mere coincidence and should not be traced to the incident in Lagos, we send our sympathies.” Reports say a certain Tunde Awoyeni had claimed that the Ooni of Ife palace would invoke the wrath of his ancestors on the Oba of Lagos. Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, is in court in solidarity with IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu, whose hearing is set to commence before Justice Nyako. The governor is now seated at the Federal High Court 4, Abuja. The court had on April 6 fixed today to deliver ruling in the application for variation of the order of court on protection of witnesses in the case against Kanu. Kanu, through his defence counsels led by Ifeanyi Ejiofor, asked the court to set aside the order made on December 13, 2016 for the protection of witnesses. Kanu’s lawyers argued that having been acquitted of the charges of terrorism and importation of weapons, the defendants cannot be tried with the identities of witnesses based on section 36(6) of the 1999 Constitution. However, counsel to the Federal Government, Suleiman Labaran in a counter affidavit urged the court to dismiss the application as a ploy to delay the trial. Recall that Kanu was charged alongside Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi on charges of treasonable felony and criminal defamation. The Federal High Court had on March 2nd, struck-out six out of the 11-count criminal charges the Federal Government preferred against the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu and three other pro-Biafra agitators, Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi. The court, in the ruling delivered by Justice Binta Nyako, had also said that the fact that IPOB was not an organisation registered in Nigeria, it however did not make it an illegal society. The judge said, “It may be true that IPOB is not registered in Nigeria, but does that make it an illegal organisation?” Justice Nyako held that the Federal Government failed to prove that IPOB, allegedly managed by Kanu and his co-defendants - Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, is an unlawful society. Recall also that Kanu had on February last year, opposed the application by the federal government to conduct his trial in secret. FG had in the application it filed before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, decried that all the witnesses billed to testify against Kanu and two other pro-Biafra agitators, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, who are facing trial with him, have declined to appear in court. The House of Representatives has mandated two of its committees on Poverty Alleviation and Finance to probe the office of the Vice-President manned by the current Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, for alleged politicization of the social intervention schemes of the Federal government. The resolution followed the adoption of a motion moved by Rep member, Mark Gbillah, who decried the lack of involvements of all the critical stakeholders in the execution of the scheme. While moving the motion, Hon Gbillah said that there was need to protect the interests of all Nigerian citizens regardless of party affiliation and to ensure equitable participation of all Nigerians in the social intervention schemes of the federal government. According to him, “the federal government has completely ceded the identification and selection process for these programs to the states to be superintended by coordinators appointed by state governments without the oversight or involvement of the federal institutions who conceptualized and approved the appropriation of funds for the schemes except for the approval of payment”. To this end, he said the ceding of these responsibilities solely to the states had allegedly resulted in the nomination of beneficiaries who were genuinely in need of this intervention. The scheme, he said, included the N-power programme, the conditional cash transfer for eligible Nigerians, and the home grown school feeding program where local vendors would be selected to prepare required meals for about 5.5 million primary 1 to primary 3 school pupils in all the states. The motion scaled through when it was put to vote by the Speaker, Hon Yakubu Dogara. Source: http://gistreporterngr..com.ng/2017/03/national-assembly-to-probe-osinbajo-for.html
