Since most academic institutions in Nigeria have poor or unequipped science laboratories, getting an analytical laboratory for chemical analysis and researches in Nigeria is tough. The few that work are private facilities. They do not have many equipments so the chances of you running all your analysis in one lab is unlikely. Not just that, due to the high cost of licenses and equipment maintenance, most of them do not update their softwares or even consider upgrading their equipment.

This challenge culminates in poor results which further culminates to error filled publications and blunders. Dear student, do not make the same mistake with laboratories that do not know what they are doing!

I think Kiyosaki's quote is towards a tertiary education - spending 5 years in the university system especially In Nigeria. It seems a sham to me. 70% university graduates if not more still do not know where they are going in life or even what to do with their lives except to get a job after all that financial and mental investment. How long is the life span of a human. 5 precious years to me is too much investment just to land a job. some even spend more!

A high school education in Nigeria provides all the basic skills you've mentioned. My question is spending another 5 -7 years in Nigeria's university system worth the precious resources?

what does going to school (or not) got to do with success, being rich or being happy? you are not going to school to be rich/happy or successful, you are going there to get a LIFE EDUCATION, to learn how to read and write, count and use your brain...you are going to school to learn a trade, gain knowledge and social skills etc. all the above are not a guarantee of success/happiness nor wealth but you can be sure that without any of these above life skills you wont get very far in life.

I was a project supervisor with Nigeria's foremost private university for several years.

During these years, like all the time (I mean every project period), I meet with confused, overwhelmed, and exasperated students who struggle to finish in peace. I have seen students so overwhelmed by the thought of failure, they weep. I have seen students who were given an extra year for project. I have seen students who got sick terminally and were hospitalized for the fear of the unknown and yes I have met first class students who got a handle of their fear and blazed the trail.

For most schools, your final project carries 12 credits. Some more, others less. But one thing is certain, your grades in project defense will determine your CGPA ultimately.

So I think that your key to a successful final project and defense is this:

1. Start Early
It's advisable that you start in the first semester of your final year. This will give you enough time to choose a topic, gather materials, get started, make mistakes, correct them, and gain control.

2. Have a guide
We all know that most lecturers and project supervisors in Nigerian universities are a joke. Blessed are you if you can find even one to lean on. But for the most time, you won't. Well, this thread is for you.

Share your experience here. Someone may be able to provide you with tips. Don't be silent, it is foolish to be shameful of what is gainful.
