The story of how of how it was dug and began to flow as a blessing for mankind is well known. He left with her a bag containing dates and an old water-skin filled with water, then he turned to leave. The mother of Ismail(AS) followed him and said, 'Where are you going and leaving usin this valley where there is nobody and nothing?". She said that to him sevaral times and he did not turn towards her. Then she said,"Has Allah(swt) commanded you to do this?". He said "Yes". She said,"Then Allah(swt) will not forsake us". Then she went back and Ibrahim(AS) left. When he reached Ath-Thaniyah (mountainpath), where they could not see him, he turned to face the House and prayed in the following words, raising his hands: O our Lord!(have made some of my offspring to dwell in an uncultivable valley by Your Sacred House(the ka'bah at makkah) in order, O our Lord, that they may perform As-Salah(iqamat-as-salah). So fill some hearts among men with love towards them and provide them with fruits so that they may give thanks." [Ibrahim 14:37]

Jabal Hira' (the mount of Hira') was singled out for many blessings. Allah honoured it by making it the place where the Prophet often stayed, and where the revelation first came to him. The Revelation came to the Prophet(saw) in a cave in Hira". This cave is at the top of Hira', towards the back of the mountain. It is a cave that is well known to the people, knowledge of which was passed down from one generation to another. The Prophet(saw) used to go there to worship, before the Revelation came to him. It was reported that 'Aishah said "The onset of the Divine inspiration(wahy) that came to Allah"(swt) Messenger(saw) was in the form of good dreams; he did not see a dream but it would come true like the break of day. Then solitude was made dear to him, so he used to go alone to the cave of Hira' and devote himself to worship there for several nights before coming back to his family. He would take with him provisions for his atay, then he would go back tKhadijah and take a similar amount of provisions, ".
Jabal Hira' was honoured and blessed in a way that happened to no other mountain because the Prophet spent so much time there and the beginning of revelation of the HOLY QURAN.
