when building a house always consider environmental factors. Nigeria is located in a tropical and hot region. With too much rain and sun shine. High roofs allow the rains to runoff properly without sipping into the build and also to deflect the sun's reflection and heat keeping the house relatively cooler than a flat roof. If you have ever entered into your ceiling during the day, you will understand why they use high roof with ceilings or POP.
