Oh! Thanks ibietela2: better refer directly to starlink o, using jumia/konga means you will register for affiliate, wait for approval, get link, then you have to refer more buyers to qualify for pay. |

afeeztyler: It is not about water flow only in this case.
- First, even if you use a regular cat6 cable and just plug it in directly, to remove it later will be a struggle and you might even damage the port while doing so, and regular cat6 cable are not outdoor rated meaning the sun heat can damage them.
- The waterproof extender cable is not to stop water flow from entering, it is to prevent moist and also water that the wind will blow in its direction during rainfall.
I asked starlink YouTuber AYTechExcellent how my cable would look if I want to plug it in directly without issue, and he responded with the picture below, it means I would have to cut off some part of the cable head so it is easier to remove later on. So I got the extender as recommended even by him (and other YouTube videos I watched) if you don't want to go through that trouble and risk.
Check this person story out https://url-shortener.me/BE5U Don't use this one. Buy the starlink cable lookalike from aliexpress or temu |

ijeezlux: Both of us are facing the same issue. My walls want to finish me, sometimes the WiFi strength will be so poor in my phone that even to get 10Mbps will be like winning a Gold medal in olympic. Sometimes I will begin to wonder if it's the same starlink other are using is what am also using or Elon musk sent me Temu starlink. My saving grace is just the ethernet cable that I connected straight from the starlink to a their party router in my sitting room With mini, a 3rd party router is the way to go. It was like that for me before I got a router. The internet outside was way better than inside the house. |

ask4bk: I once got that message and they said i watched a French movie which i never did. I think you or someone mentioned it here some months ago.. But the thing with me is that I actually watched the show they mentioned unless it's a coincidence. Anyway, I'm on debrid rn so no issues again. |
Phones › Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by yubiman(m): 7:30pm On Dec 04, 2025 |
dustmalik: Debrid is better. The debrid service hosts the files on their servers, so you are simply streaming the files from direct links, not torrent anymore. You won't have issues with copyright holders.
With VPN, on the hand, it still remains a torrent, which means, your streaming experience depends on the number of seeders the torrent file has and all of that. Moreover, VPN generally slows than a connection. Awesome. I've also read about it. I'm thinking of going with torbox |
Phones › Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by yubiman(m): 5:37pm On Dec 04, 2025 |
dustmalik: Streaming and downloading torrents is the same thing. Since you are using Stremio, get a debrid service. Hmm. I'll look into it. So between using a debrid service and VPN. Which is better? |

oluwapoju: I also got served. But i have managed to have a kill switch for my downloads now by having my own VPN. Thanks to VPS and wireguard The funny thing is I don't download. I stream via stremio only and I've been streaming since I started using starlinks in June. |

dustmalik: A couple of people have received same message in the past from Starlink. I think @ibawon also received same message sometime in the past. Just ignore it.
Sometimes it's very possible that you were not the one that streamed or downloaded the torrent file. Starlink issues same ip address range for a number of customers, so when a copyright holder sends a complaint to them, Starlink forwards that complaint to all those who are in that range of IP. Thanks for this but I believe I was the one who streamed the content they mentioned or maybe it's a coincidence that watch the TV show they mentioned. |

I complained about my internet speed on Tuesday and Starlink sent me a gem 3 yesterday (Thursday). This is the second replacement they are giving me for free. Cannot complain.

Galaxyroyp: Thanks man!
Just seeing this. Fortunately, I bought it from Jumia and the delivery was fast.
Yes, you're right about power consumption. it's averaging 22-25 watt while it's working.
The issue now is mounting. I called an installer and he said the pole only is 80k. I quickly end the call.
If I may ask, how did you Mount yours? I've read somewhere around here or so to fabricate a pole from a welder.
If you have that, I'd appreciate if i could get a picture.
Thank you very much. Look for a welder in your area to make a pole for you. Just give him the pole grip that came with the mini so he can get the diameter. I spent 15k for mine. |

Galaxyroyp: Hello guys,
I am in Ibadan and would like to buy starlink mini. Is it recommened to buy directly through starlink offical website or through a platform like Jumia? Part of my asking include ease of activation and speed of delivery.
And if I may ask, what is the average power consumption for Starlink mini when in operation?
Thank you. Buy from jumia or konga, it's 30k plus cheaper and you'll get it in 3/4 days.. Average power is about 25w..although when it's booting up, it takes around 40watts |
