Thanks @jboixx and @gptech and others. My phone number s back to normal. I didn't have to go through the fadtboot and recovery mode methods. All I had to do was go to my updater app, and I chose the update package and voila! I've reverted back to miui 8v 7.3.30

Ok, if you are on developer rom, there will be an update on Friday, otherwise just flash your current rom again.

Are you able to enter fastboot mode? Try volume down plus power button. If it works, then we could try using note 3 pro method to enter EDL

its not entering fastoot cos i cant see the bunny.

i just want my phone back. i installed an update(devolopers rom), i didnt know the update had a bug so it affected my phone's backlight. the screen is blank except i use a torch.

My advice to you is to not be silly and lose your device. The so called cable is only for when your device is completely dead and that's even a gamble sef.

If all u need is to get your device into Qualcomm diagnostic mode to flash it then what you need is to boot into EDL from fastboot mode

Boot into fastboot, open cmd.

Verify fastboot mode with

"fastboot devices"

Then type

"Adb reboot edl"

If all of this is over your head, then you better forget this thing.

If that does not work for you (it does on every
Qualcomm device) you can try the easy tool in this thread

Let me repeat again, if any of this is over your head, it's best you forget the idea. Nobody is going to be going back and forth with you if you hard brick your device.

If you want to unlock your device officially, it does not matter how long you wait, the only official way to do it is to flash your phone to CHINESE DEV ROM and setup the device as per normal using your PHONE NUMBER and not email to login to Xiaomi services.

Then activate find me service and make sure you can locate it on a browser to be sure your device has been registered.

Then use the tool to unlock bootloader.

From dev rom you can flash global stock rom with recovery to go back to global rom

BTW, you can actually flash the stock fastboot rom with fastboot by flashing individual partitions e.g

Fastboot flash system system.img

And so on for each partition, thus u don't even need EDL mode sef to flash the device.

hmmm..thanks but i might give up soon because ive tried all i can(well, maybe i haven't or im not doing something right) all to no avail.
ive nothing my phone doesnt boot to recovery mode and fastboot, maybe thats y ive not been successful with it. is there anyone in lagos that can assist me to sort this out. Thanks

Hi guys, the sound quality of my redmi 3s prime when taking videos is terrible. I can hardly hear anything. Its all croaky and unstable. I haven't complained cos I don't do much video recording. Is there a way to enhance it?

@gptech, thanks for the other day. I've integrated my sim contacts to that of the phone.

you are right i know about that, but two obstacles re up for it: to unlock the bootloader, users have hard time unlocking xiaomi phones running on global rom or global dev rom, even if u gt to unlock the bootloader, what about the twrp image, i only c KENZO's twrp, d offical one, alka twrp, cofface twrp n ZCX twrp all for kenzo....flashing the modem i know about that...do you have the KATE variant n where u able to root ya root, u can try RADON kernel
