Well done guys, you guys are great for keeping the trend alive.
From my sales record book for last year,i discovered that I made some good profit from my chilli pepper than the habanero. When there's drop in price we sun dry our chilli pepper and stored, which we later sale at very reasonable price when there's rise in price but we couldn't do such to habanero pepper we just have to sell when the price is high and low. With this development I have decided to do more of chili pepper this year 70% , 30% of habanero. The seedlings are already on bed doing wonderfully. See you guys later ..
This is the new trend o,I cannot come and stress myself for 4 month to sell at a ridiculous price, dried chill even return higher profit at a specific period of d year

well I had this issue few days or a week after transplant ... you can also Google search on what may have caused this
What I'm seeing on google correlates to bacterium, fusarim, verticullum wilt..Nome of those sound goods as they are only preventable not curable

I had this problem as well,.. but I believe this is a problem that occurred from transplant.. it may be the plant could not adjust to the hash temperature or it didnt get enough water or you used chemical fertilizers during transplant

its definitely one of the above
Its been about two month after transplanting, in fact its beginning to bear it first set of fruits.it definitely doesn't have anything to do with transplanting

Psalmy2cute:

theres alot of things that makes an hybrid plant, it's not just about the yeild.. theres shelve live, resistance to diseases.. ability to manage long period of drought.. local opv may not give exactly what an hybrid can offer.. but what you'll get from it will be worth the effort.. local farmers dont use much chemicals.. nor manure of any form.. they'll even tell you, youre wasting your money when they see you using them.. but still they're able to produce enough that it compels them to farm pepper each season.. now think what will happen when you give same local opv an hybrid treatment
True,I think it all comes down to good agricultural practice

during the Christmas celebration, I saw local opvs from the north far bigger than this
So does it means if the local opv are treated well, they will yeild close result to the hybrid?

Ure right, buh the farm manager said they usually have more than 95% germination rate and they don't experience transplant shock BC they move it to the greenhouse and dey use coco- peat.[/quote]
They buy the seeds from dizengolf directly and dizengolf already trained them of the germination and other necessary process like transplanting..

Psalmy2cute:

if you buy 1000 seeds for 25k .. all things been equal as an habenaro pepper seed.. you'll end up with less than 50 to 40% of the seedlings after 6 weeks to 8 weeks of nursing the seedlings ... isnt the price a bit too much considering the fact that we all know not all the seedlings will survive the nursery stage?

okoroemeka:
first of all the 1200kg harvest is it a once harvest, weekly or total yield from the pepper farm, because a bag of pepper is roughly 15-20kg so you see 1200 kg is a lot almost 50-60 bags, also the 1680 crops for 100 ft×50ft land I think maybe it will work in my dreams because the closest spacing you can dare with a hybrid variety like that is 90cm,we used 100cm spacing in our avenir hybrid farm still no space at all,if you even use 60cm spacing on 100×50ft land what you will get is 500-600 crops max,a vigorous hybrid habanero pepper like that RZ seed that will be topped will be planted with nothing less than 4 feet spacing or least management will be difficult because there will be no space to enter and spray or harvest, you can try closer spacing of 60cm with heirloom varieties like efia,Safi or Cameron pepper,if you try that with a properly topped hybrid pepper sorry will be your second name.

Good day sir Okoroemeka, I had a visit to a green house farm that measured 48 by 8 meter. The yeild they harvest is almost unbelievable that I had to see with my own eyes.they harvest apprx 200kg from 460 stands of pepper per harvest.in fact I didn't know that pepper could also require serious staking until I say this variety, despite the staking, some of the branches were still breaking due to heavy fruit load.Although the seeds go for 25000k per 1000seed.buh u need to try it,after calling dizengolf head office, they told me that it s an open field variety buh can be grown indoor.
Even if open field yeild 20-30% less,it s still going to be a good yeild

Since they used raised bed weed shouldn't be a problem, power weeder can clear weed in between rows and manual weeding within the plants,I don't think they are in short of labor, especially wen ure doing a large project like this

hmm it seems beans afterall is not that profitable,

but i keep on wondering why the north likes planting it

maybe it has no stress growing even without water thats why they so much like it,

but here in lagos i have never seen one single beans farmer

anyways it seems i will dive into another crop apart from beans

just needed to know anyways
U cannot see o,where is d land, even onions that is presently #25000 per bag now is not planted in large quantity other than in the north.I doubt of u can see anyone here in the west or south that has up to 3hectares of onions.

I keep on wondering why people hardly discuss planting beans here in this forum
please is it really profitable because i will like to try my hands on it?
the little i have researched showed me that beans dont need too much water and it can grow well even when not taken good care of,
but i keep on wondering why people hardly plant beans for a living
they say only the norths plant beans but am wondering how come,
beans take little space to be planted onlike other plants but it tends to feel like no one cares about it
is it that beans is not profitable after harvesting it or is it that there is no available market to go and sell them?
or maybe the harvesting and peeling and shiftering process is too hard,
i just keep wondering and poundering on my mind why people dont go into beans farming
is the growing proccess too long and tiring?
i dont know if someone here can enlighten me on this so i can think otherwise
thanks
Pls don't even think of beans farming especially if ure new into it unless u just want to do a pilot study of 1plot.U will think that ire prepared for the pest but it ll shock u.beans is not like vegetable where u can make good profits from 1-2 plots of land, ull need hectares to make good profit.that is why those it is practiced by the Hausa,a small boy in the north can have 10hectared for planting all for himself so even it it get infested by pest,he'll still make profit BC it ll still be accepted in d open market
