Niger Delta Nigeria has undoubtedly been the major foreign exchange earner which has successively sustained the nation‘s economy through crude oil exploration and exploitation from early independence to date.
But due to several years of glaring neglect of socio-economic dividends to the indigenous masses of the region, some angry youths formed militant groups to pressurize governments at Federal and State levels to fulfill all political manifestos.
Oweizide Thomas Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, acclaimed to be religious leader of the Woyin Religion, an indigenous belief system of the Ijaw people and also a former leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), influenced by the Egbesu Deity, which represents truth, fairness, and equity – an alternate name for Woyin became an arrow head and rallying figure.

Tompolo and his followers participated in the Niger Delta arm struggle for the emancipation of the region until their demands were met and amnesty secured but of recent, TOMPOLO has metamorphosed into the prestigious rank of Nigerian numerous billionaires who flaunt dubious wealth in public to further compound the misery of poor masses!
In an unprecedented show of affluence on his 54th birthday celebration, 12th April 2025, TOMPOLO displayed his new personality as he danced under heavy showers of mint crisp Nigerian Naira Currencies until they formed a massive heap around him!

Tompolo, now a Federal Government Contractor on Security Matters has caught the ire of the EFCC through a viral video making rounds on social media and has been invited for questioning!
In January 2016, under the regime of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, an arrest warrant for Tompolo was issued on charges of theft and money laundering. Prior to that time, his last public appearance was in 2014 and for six years he succeeded to dodge all security radar and his location and whereabouts remained a mystery until 2020 when he resurfaced in his Egbesu shrine.
Surprisingly in August 2022, Muhammadu Buhari renewed a multi-billion naira lucrative contract of security surveillance of the Delta region pipelines to Tompolo, Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited – a private security firm owned by the ex-militant.

ACTIVISM AND MILITANCY ACCORDING TO HIS RESUME.

In 1993, Tompolo dropped out of college and joined a resistance group in the Niger Delta. In 1998, Tompolo joined the newly formed Ijaw Youth Council and became a well respected member. Since there was very little progress in the Ijaw Youth Council Tompolo joined the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta.
Tompolo’s invitation by Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force (NDPVF) to take refuge in Delta state in 2005 helped precipitate the formation of MEND soon afterwards.
Ekpemupolo quickly rose to a high commander in MEND and with his vast wealth he was able to supply MEND with large amounts of weapons and new equipment. Tompolo was in command of thousands of militants and successfully strategized to draw attention of the government and the multinational oil companies to the exploitation and degradation of the peoples and environments of the Niger Delta that needed urgent economic intervention!
For years Tompolo was a commander in various guerrilla groups in the Niger Delta which were all agitating against their perceived insensitivity of the federal government and the international oil companies towards to exploitation and degradation of the Niger Delta.

GRANT OF AMNESTY.

During his time as a guerrilla commander, he, under the auspices of MEND was able to drive the Nigerian government to grant amnesty to MEND members who decided to surrender. Tompolo was granted full amnesty as well as all of his men when he embraced the amnesty offer on the Federal Government of Nigeria under president Umaru Musa Yar’Adua on June 27, 2009.
Tompolo embraced amnesty on October 4, 2009, in order to allow for peace in the area, and for the government and oil companies to carry out development projects, and provide jobs and training.

WHAT THE NIGERIAN LAW SAYS ON CURRENCY MUTILATION OR ABUSE?

A person who tampers with the Naira note or coin is guilty of an offence, punishable by law (CBN Act, Section 21). It is also against the law to reject the Naira (Section 20, subsection 5).
WHAT IS THE LAW FOR ABUSE OF CURRENCY IN NIGERIA?
Under Section 21 of the CBN Act, 2007, all acts that constitute Naira abuse are punishable by imprisonment for a term of not less than six months or a fine not less than ₦50,000 or both. These include: Spraying of, dancing or matching/stepping on the Naira: This is explicitly prohibited and constitutes an offense.

WHAT IS THE CBN ACT ON MONEY MUTILATION?

In Section 21(3), the CBN Act states: “for the avoidance of doubt, spraying of, dancing or marching on the Naira or any other notes issued by the Bank during social occasions or otherwise howsoever shall constitute an abuse and defacing of the Naira and shall be punishable under subsection (1) of this section.”21 Apr 2024.

SOUTH-SOUTH APC OBJECTS TOMPOLO’S INVITATION BY EFCC!

The South-south Zonal Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who is also Tompolo’s lawyer,Dr. Blessing Agbomhere, has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to remove the name of the founder of Tantita Security Services Limited, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, from its X handle over alleged abuse of the naira.
In a letter to the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, he described the invitation to Tompolo as unnecessary, as the individual in question has not committed any offence known to law.
The EFCC had in a letter dated 12th May 2025, invited Tompolo to appear on Monday, the 19th of May at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja to answer questions on his alleged involvement in naira abuse during his (Tompolo’s) 54th birthday anniversary celebration in April.
He Insisted that there was no evidence to show that Tompolo stepped on the Naira notes as alleged, but was rather seen in the video waving at the individual spraying him with the notes to stop!

TOMPOLO IS A DISGRACE TO KEN SARO-WIWA’S LEGACY OF DIGNITY OF MAN!

Ken Saro-Wiwa’s legacy is marked by his courage in challenging human rights abuses and environmental degradation caused by multinational corporations, particularly in the Niger Delta.
He was not involved in the rat race for the acquisition of wealth – a trade mark of militants of his era.

China is poised to become world’s number one economic bloc – a position which America had prestigiously occupied before the advent of Donald Trump’s maladministration!
To say that Donald Trump bulldozed his way into the Oval Office and became the 47th President of the United States of America and has been seated in the White House from 20th January 2025, even though he is a convicted criminal is an understatement!
With only four months in that official capacity he had exhibited an array of incompetent policy misdirection and somersaults that have exposed his lack of expertise in international economics.
He blindly issued 147 Presidential Orders on the spur of the moment according to his whims and caprices and cared less about catastrophic consequences.
He has become a thorn in the flesh of leaders, movers and shakers of global economy in all continents and countries of the World!
As a professional manipulator he had threatened before the 2024 Election that if he was not favored he would make America ungovernable!
If Donald Trump had been a CHINESE national, he would never have competed; he would have been summarily executed on conviction of 34 criminal charges!
There is no doubt that Donald Trump is out on a revenge mission not only against the Democrats but by extension, the entire governments of other countries of the world which were opposed to his second tenure!
He made good his campaign threat that on assumption he would deport all illegal and undocumented immigrants by fire and by force but in the process got muddled up due to his inadequacies in human capacity management.

He believed that his fastest move to achieve his slogan “TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN”, was to astronomically increase Import Tariffs of all trade commodities from other nations and by so doing generate astronomical increase in his country’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), earnings in a very short period!
That uneconomic move has become his undoing and exposed him to the all world leaders as an IMPOSTER without modern economic knowledge and capacity to deal with the dynamics of professional economic engagements of the 21st Century bilateral international engagements.
The misled mammoth crowd that voted him for this second tenure are now licking their wounds and have staged massive protests across the 50 US States to vent their disgust about all of his socio-economic and unpopular foreign policies!

CHINA ON THE OFFENSIVE!

Ahead of an international Trade Summit at the instance of the United States, China has raised tariffs on US goods to 125% in response to the imposing tariffs of 145% on Chinese imports.
This escalation in tariffs is part of a broader trade war between the two countries, which has led to a significant decline in trade between the two nations.
China has also restricted exports of seven rare earths, including those essential for making AI chips, further exacerbating the trade tensions.
This follows an escalation where China initially retaliated with an 84% levy on US goods, which was then increased to 125%.
The US has imposed tariffs of up to 145% on some Chinese imports and China wasted no time to respond by raising tariffs on US goods to 125%, effectively increasing the cost of these goods for US consumers and businesses.
However concessions prevailed as both countries have granted exemptions on certain critical products to mitigate the impact of the tariffs.
The escalating trade war is causing economic uncertainty and potentially leading to a shift in China’s trade patterns, with some suggesting a move away from the US market.
Despite the tariff hikes, there are indications of ongoing dialogue and attempts to find a resolution, including potential tariff reductions.
For example, Reuters reported that Trump suggested an 80% tariff rate on Chinese goods which CNBC also reported as a potential compromise.

US and China have agreed to put most tariffs on pause for 90 days, marking a major de-escalation in a trade tit-for-tat that has roiled global markets.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who led weekend trade talks for the US delegation, said both sides have pledged to slash tariffs.
US tariffs on most Chinese imports will be cut to 30% from the current 145%, while China’s tariffs will drop to 10% from the current 125%, according to a joint statement.
The consensus from both delegations this weekend is neither side wants a “decoupling,” Bessent said on Monday.
“And what had occurred with these very high tariffs … was the equivalent of an embargo, and neither side wants that. We do want trade.”
The US said the tariff reductions would be in effect for 90 days while talks proceed. President Trump plans to speak with Chinese President Xi Jinping soon, “maybe at the end of the week," he said on Monday 12th May 2025.

The US Dollar is loosing its strength: it’s not a theory, nor is it a rumor; these eleven countries have officially announced that they will stop using the U.S. currency in their transactions starting in 2025, and this news comes just as the country is going through one of the most complicated economic moments in recent years.

The goal is clear: to strengthen their own economies, reduce the influence of the United States, and start operating with their own currencies.
“And although it’s not an immediate goodbye or the end of the world, it does mark the beginning of the end of the dollar’s hegemony as the global currency”, the report concluded.

A group of sadists who, unfortunately claim to be Representatives of the 220 million Nigerians in the National Assembly (NASS), have switched camps in the last week of April 2025 through defection to the FAILED ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), in a frenzied manner that portrays madness, mental dysfunction or both!
At the last count, not less than 50 heartless opposition legislators have decamped to turn Nigeria into a one-party State!

The ruling party now has overwhelming majority in both chambers of NASS to intensify the endemic state of corruption for which Nigeria holds the world record!
There are 18 political parties currently registered with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Nigeria. These include the major parties like the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Labor Party (LP).
There are 15 other parties which include the Action Peoples Party (APP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), that are also registered but they have all ganged-up to turn Nigeria into a One Party State of Government for the sole aim of further robbing the Treasury Single Account (TSA), which keeps custody of only BORROWED FOREIGN LOANS!
A one-party state, single-party state, one-party system or single-party system is a governance structure in which only a single political party controls the ruling system. In a one-party state, all opposition parties are either outlawed or enjoy limited and controlled participation in elections.

EFFECTS OF THE GALE OF DEFECTIONS ON THE RED CHAMBER.

Senate (Red Chamber), can now “boast” of an overwhelming majority of about 66 APC Legislators out of 109 members who will rubber stamp all requests from the Executive without soliciting for the opposition’s votes.

The major opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has 33, Labor 5, Social Democratic Party 2, and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has one Senator.
There are two vacant seats, one for Anambra South due to the death of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah last year and Edo Central as a result of Senator Monday Okpebholo election as Governor of Edo State.
It is also being rumored that Governors Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Aba Yusuf (Kano) and suspended Governor, Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers) might also defect to the ruling APC in the next few weeks.

Some opposition politicians have alleged that mischief and blackmail had been employed by the ruling party to coerce opposition Governors and others to dump their political parties and join the APC in order that President Tinubu would have a better outing in 2027!
He only mustered 36.5 per cent in the 2023 General Elections to move to ASO ROCK. It was the least percentage compared to other past general elections results!
Grapevine also disclosed that President Bola Tinubu’s had covert meeting with the suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara in London during his last overseas jamboree!

The said London meeting was held at the instance of the embattled governor, who was suspended from office after a declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.
Although the details of the meeting were still shrouded in secrecy, Fubara is believed to being cajoled with the option of defection to the ruling APC to retrieve his mandate as Rivers State Governor!
In the case of the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Eno, his plan to defect to the APC according to the rumors had been linked to the plight of his predecessor and godfather regarding an alleged corruption case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

WHAT DOES THE NIGERIAN CONSTITUTION SAY ABOUT PARTY DEFECTION?

Sections 68(1) (g) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria clearly addressed party defection in the legislative context. It stipulates that members of a legislative house who change political parties will lose their seat. The Speaker of the House or the Senate President is responsible for implementing this provision. This means that legislators who switch parties are expected to vacate their positions.
This section states that a member shall vacate his seat “being a person whose election to the house was sponsored by a political party, he becomes a member of another political party before the expiration of the period for which that House was elected; provided that his membership of the latter political party is not as a result of a division in the political party of which he was previously a member or of a merger of two or more political parties or factions by one of which he was previously sponsored ”.
However, this section only addresses members of the national assembly and is silent on all other elective positions.
The 2010 Electoral Act also attempts to forestall political defections with some of its provisions but it has not been very successful in reducing the indiscriminate abandonment of one party for another by politicians. Attempts to introduce bills on the floor of the National Assembly to curtail defections have also been unsuccessful.

A Bill seeking to return Nigeria to the parliamentary system of government passed second reading at the House of Representatives on Thursday, 20th March 2025.
The bill seeks to establish the office of the Prime Minister as Head of Government and the President as Head of State.

The proposed legislation was among the 32 Constitutional Amendment Bills passed by the lawmakers during a plenary session presided over by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.
The proposed legislation, sponsored by Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda and 59 others, seeks to alter the 1999 Constitution to introduce a parliamentary framework that will shift executive authority from the President to a Prime Minister elected by the legislature.
The bill is titled: *”A Bill for an Act to Alter the Provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 to Provide for the Office of the Prime Minister as Head of Government and the Office of President as Head of State and to Provide for a Framework for the Mode of Election to the Said Offices and for Related Matters.”*
Parliamentary democracy was practiced in the First Republic, with Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa serving as Prime Minister and Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe as the ceremonial President.
The system, which lasted from 1960 until the 1966 military coup, allowed executive authority to reside in the Prime Minister, who was chosen from the majority party in parliament, while the President served as the Head of State.
The system is cost-effective and is very unfriendly with corruption!

In February 2024, some 60 members of the House of Representatives sought amendments to the 1999 Constitution to transition from the current presidential system to the parliamentary system of government.
Led by a lawmaker representing Lagos State under the All Progressives Congress, Wale Raji, the lawmakers identified the need to reduce the cost of government and foster robust policy debates among other reasons, for demanding a return to the parliamentary system.
The lawmakers, drawn from different party affiliations, anchored their positions on the need to adopt a parliamentary system at the Federal, State, and Local Government levels.

President Tinubu will be adding insult to injury by hoping to remain in office beyond 2027, having performed woefully in less than TWO YEARS!

The Nigerian President who governed from Paris and London for almost three weeks arrived midnight on Easter Monday 21st April 2025 into the waiting motley of sycophants who must be at the airport to shake his hands as mark of allegiance!
In spite of the fact that from the tarmac, he stepped into the blood of about 106 fresh innocent Nigerians who were brutally murdered in the North Central States of Benue and Plateau in his second year of administration, he had not deemed it necessary to visit in person and condole with the families of those who have lost their loved ones to the cold hands of death as a result of his #BadGovernance!

Official sources say that he gave matching orders to security Service Chiefs to move into the affected areas and ensure peace was restored and that was all!
Mr. Bola Tinubu’s greatest ambition was to adorn the title of President of Nigeria; he never prepared for the enormous cerebral responsibilities attached the office!
Otherwise, having turned the country into a nation of hungry and angry people through policy somersault, should he still have the guts to say he had no regrets for his inaugural blunder of subsidy removal and foreign exchange merger?

EXCERPTS FROM CIVIL SOCIETIES SCORECARD ON TINUBU’S FIRST YEAR IN OFFICE.

In the first anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, a group of 84 local and international Civil Society Organizations said at least 4,416 persons were killed.
Addressing journalists at a press conference held in Abuja on Tuesday, to mark the 2024 National Day of Mourning, said the insecurity in the country had earned Nigeria a place as one of the most insecure countries in the world, ranking 144th out of 163 countries on the Global Peace Index in 2024.
“Since the commemoration of the last National Day of Mourning #NDOM2023 on May 28th, 2023, and President Tinubu’s first year in office, our records show that at least 4416 people were killed and at least 4334 were abducted in incidents of mass atrocities across the country.
They further stated that the Northern Central region had accounted for the highest number of fatalities, with at least 1600 lost, the North West came in second place with at least 1,136 fatalities, with Maradun Local Government, a community in Zamfara state, being the most hard-hit after enduring at least five separate incidents of terror in 2023, with at least 118 lives lost.
The Southeast recorded the highest number of killings in the Southern part of the country with at least 344 killed, with most of the massacres occurring in Imo and Anambra states.
The CSOs urged the government to fulfil its constitutional obligations under Section 14(2) (b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended and ensure the security of Nigerian lives and properties.

Pat Utomi, Professor of Political Economy, says he is working to mobilize 7.2 million Nigerians to converge on Abuja in protest against Nigeria’s political elite.
Utomi said the protest, tagged “FREEDOM CONVERGENCE”, is aimed at reclaiming the country from “entrenched systems of state capture and self-serving leadership”.
“The government don’t want people’s voices to be raised and that is why Nigerians have to take back their country,” he said.
A Catholic bishop in Nsukka, Bishop Onah, is known for a particular homily in which he says ‘a country that the leaders don’t fear their people is as good as dead,’ and that is true.
“The political class now has complete and total contempt for the Nigerian people.”
“Democracy is supposed to be our people raising their voices,” he said.
“Something has gone fundamentally wrong with that democracy. It cannot be called a democracy anymore and so we need to make it a democracy.
“We need to begin to express ourselves and to make sure the people know that they are the bosses, they own the country.”
He said the planned convergence will be a month-long process and not just a one-day protest.
“An expression that is loud that the world can hear of the voice of the Nigerian people that ‘enough is enough’ is a critical one if we want this process to remain democratic,” he said.
“So we have chosen to get together to express ourselves. It is not just one protest, it is a process, I mean the demonstration itself or the converge on Abuja.
The process will take nearly one month. It started now already. We’re looking at about the 1st of December and between now and then, activity moving towards that will be taking place all across Nigeria.”
He said various programs such as concerts and colloquia will be held in the weeks leading to the Abuja protest to sensitize Nigerians on their rights.
“Just the way the Martin Luther King and co march on Washington in 1964 took place.
“We will have activities in Maiduguri, activities in Sokoto, activities in Yenagoa, activities in Asaba, in Ado Ekiti, and then progressively in convoys, in trailers, the people will start moving towards Abuja and converge all in green white green.
“We have a right as citizens to protest. If they try to stop us, somebody may stop them. Let them be sure of that.”

Executive Summary On Fresh Inflation - National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

In January 2024, the headline inflation rate increased to 29.90% relative to the December 2023 headline inflation rate which was 28.92%. Looking at the movement, the January 2024 headline inflation rate showed an increase of 0.98% points when compared to the December 2023 headline inflation rate. Similarly, on a year-on-year basis, the headline inflation rate was 8.08% points higher compared to the rate recorded in January 2023, which was 21.82%.

This shows that the headline inflation rate (year-on-year basis) increased in January 2024 when compared to the same month in the preceding year (i.e., January 2023). Furthermore, on a month-on-month basis, the headline inflation rate in January 2024 was 2.64%, which was 0.35% higher than the rate recorded in December 2023 (2.29%). This means that in January 2024, the rate of increase in the average price level is more than the rate of increase in the average price level in December 2023.
Headline inflation refers to the overall rate of inflation in an economy, encompassing a broad basket of goods and services, including volatile items like food and energy. It is a comprehensive measure of price increases and is often closely related to shifts in the cost of living.

Furthermore, on a month-on-month basis, the Headline inflation rate in March 2025 was 3.90 per cent, which was 1.85 per cent higher than the rate recorded in February 2025 (2.04 per cent). This means that in March 2025, the rate of increase in the average price level is higher than the rate of increase in the average price level in February 2025.”
The statistics office noted that the major drivers of the year-on-year inflation rate were food and non-alcoholic beverages, which contributed 9.28 percentage points; followed by restaurants and, accommodation services (2.99 per cent), transport (2.47 per cent), and housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (1.95 per cent).
Other divisions with notable contributions include education, health, clothing and footwear.
Food inflation stood at 21.79 per cent in March, up from 20.01 per cent in February.
On a monthly basis, food prices rose by 2.18 per cent, driven by price increases in fresh
ginger, yellow gari, Ofada rice, honey, fresh pepper, potatoes, and plantain flour. The persistent rise in food prices continues to weigh heavily on household incomes and consumption patterns.

Core inflation, which excludes prices of volatile agricultural produce and energy, stood at 24.43 per cent year-on-year, with a month-on-month increase of 3.73 per cent, compared to 2.52 per cent recorded in February.
Inflation was higher in urban areas, where the year-on-year rate was 26.12 per cent, compared to 20.89 per cent in rural areas.
On a monthly basis, urban inflation rose by 3.96 per cent, while rural inflation increased by 3.73 per cent. The disparity highlights the greater vulnerability of urban consumers to price shocks, particularly in housing, transport, and service-related costs.

In fact, the lyrics of the new release which condemned citizens socio-economic disorders of extraneous intensity in hardships and massive sufferings since the advent of Seyi Tinubu’s Papa from his investiture (29th May 2023), till date, had been a sing- song on all lips across Nigeria!

VETERAN SONG ARTISTE EEDRIS ABDULKAREEM BURSTS TINUBU’S BUBBLES!

Recently a major key player in the entertainment industry sector Eedris Abdulkareem released a hit song titled , “Tell Your Papa”, the lyrics which instructs the President’s Son, Seyi Tinubu to warn his father on the consequences of bad governance!
But the song was quickly prohibited by the National Broadcasting Commission due to content inappropriateness!
And while public outcry against the unpopular ban has gained momentum on the social media, internet, the tube and radio stations the Socio-economic Rights Accountability Project (SERAP), has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Federal Government and the National Broadcasting Commission to reverse the ban on Eedris Abdulkareem’s latest protest song, “Tell Your Papa.”
The organisation made this known in a post via its official X handle on Thursday, hours after NBC placed a ban on the protest song, which is critical of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
SERAP described the ban as unlawful and a violation of the Nigerian artist’s right to freedom of expression.
The organization, therefore, warned of impending legal action if the directive is not rescinded within the stipulated timeframe.

The post reads, “The Tinubu administration must immediately reverse the unlawful ban by the National Broadcasting Commission stopping Nigerian radio and TV stations from airing Eedris Abdulkareem’s new single.
“We’ll see in court if the ban is not reversed within 48 hours.”
PUNCH Online reports that NBC, in a memo dated April 9, 2025, and signed by the Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, Susan Obi, declared the song not to be broadcast.
The Commission cited Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, which prohibits materials deemed offensive or against public decency.
The memo titled “Restriction on broadcasting ‘Tell Your Papa’ by Eedris Abdulkareem” reads, “The National Broadcasting Commission has identified the song ‘Tell Your Papa’ by Eedris Abdulkareem, currently trending on social media, as content deemed inappropriate for broadcast due to its objectionable nature.
“It is therefore classified as Not To Be Broadcast (NTBB), as it violates Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code.
The commission requests that your station exercises discretion and refrains from airing this song to maintain responsible broadcasting standards.”
However, the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria has strongly criticised NBC for banning the protest song.

PMAN President, Pretty Okafor, argued that NBC’s decision to ban the song could backfire by inadvertently boosting its popularity, especially given the growing dissatisfaction among Nigerians over the country’s economic challenges.
Abdulkareem, who is known for his socially conscious and politically conscious music, has rejected the ban placed on his song. The rapper and singer has always used his songs to comment on governance, corruption, and social justice.
His latest track, “Tell Your Papa,” criticises the Tinubu’s administration over the current economic hardship and governance failure. Also, Prof. Pat Utomi, a leader of the Labour Party (LP), respond His reaction was contained in a post that he shared on his official X handle on Friday.
According to VANGUARD, the National Broadcasting Commission banned the song after it was described as a content deemed inappropriate for broadcast due to its objectionable nature.
Reacting after the report surfaced online, Pat Utomi condemned the decision of NBC to ban the song. Utomi said the musician sang a similar song under the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo. He said what Obasanjo did was that he abused him in return.
This censorship is abuse of the constitution as the military takeover of Rivers. When Eedris sang a similar song under Obasanjo, all that the former soldier assumed dictator did was abuse Eedris

The entertainment industry in Nigeria significantly contributes to the country’s economy through various avenues, including direct GDP contributions and job creation. Nollywood, the Nigerian film industry, is the world’s second-largest, generating substantial revenue. In 2023, motion picture and music recording contributed approximately $197.6 million dollars to Nigeria’s GDP.
The industry also directly supports jobs, with reports indicating that Netflix alone supported 5,140 jobs in 2023.
The National President of Theater Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners of Nigeria, Mr Bolaji Amusan, also disclosed to journalists in January, 2025, that the Entertainment Industry contributed N145 billion naira to GDP and has created 4.2 million jobs.
And there are postulations from government quarters that Nigeria’s entertainment sector should hit $13.6 billion dollar revenue mark by 2028 and yet a sloven Agency like the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission just woke up from slumber to claim relevance.

President Bola Tinubu has departed Abuja on Wednesday 2nd April on a working visit to Paris, France.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, Mr Bayo Onanuga.

Mr Onanuga said the President would appraise his administration’s mid-term performance and assess key milestones.
He would also be using the retreat to review the progress of ongoing reforms and engage in strategic planning ahead of his administration’s second anniversary.
President Tinubu “will remain fully engaged with his team and continue to oversee governance activities”, the statement said.
“Recent economic strides reinforce the President’s commitment to these efforts, as evidenced by the Central Bank of Nigeria reporting a significant increase in net foreign exchange reserves to $23.11 billion—a testament to the administration’s fiscal reforms since 2023 when net reserves were $3.99 billion,” it continued.
While away, President Tinubu will remain fully engaged with his team and continue to oversee governance activities, it also announced.
President Tinubu would be returning to Abuja in about a fortnight.”


NIGERIA ‘S TRADE WITH FRANCE.

In 2023, Nigeria’s exports to France totaled US$4.26 billion, with mineral fuels, oils, and distillation products making up the majority, while France imported US$4.75 billion worth of goods from Nigeria, according to Trading Economics.
Nigeria’s exports to France are heavily reliant on crude oil, with mineral fuels making up a significant portion of the trade.
France is among the top destinations for Nigeria’s exports, alongside countries like the Netherlands, Spain, India, and Indonesia.

ANALYSIS BY WIKKITIMES ON TINUBU’S INCESSANT TRIPS TO FRANCE!

“Tinubu Spends Over N630 Million Fueling His Jet For Six Trips to France.
Since assuming office on May 29, 2023, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has travelled to Paris, France, six times, set to spend a total of 51 days there, with the current 14-day trip inclusive costing

With the current price of aviation fuel in Nigeria currently around N980 per litre, this means N630,806,400 has been spent solely on jet fuel for these trips.

As President, Tinubu travelled to Paris on June 20, 2023, for five days and went back on June 24, 2024, for 14 days. He visited again on August 19, 2024, for five days.
Had another trip to Paris again on November 27, 2024, lasting five days, followed by an eight-day visit on February 5, 2025. His current trip adds another 14 days to this tally.

Nigeria is currently facing economic distress, with inflation at rate 23.18 percent and the naira depreciating against major foreign currencies.
Citizens are grappling with high food prices, fuel subsidy removal, and an increase in electricity tariffs.
Tinubu’s repeated visits to France remain shrouded in secrecy, fueling speculations that he is using public funds for private health concerns without transparency.
Many Nigerians lack access to basic medical facilities, with underpaid doctors and a worsening brain drain in the health sector.
Also, with 51 days to be spent in France alone in 20 months, Tinubu has spent nearly one-twelfth of his time in office outside Nigeria.”

Shortly after his investiture as President of Nigeria in 2023, Bola Tinubu was elected Chairman of the Economic Commission of West African States (ECOWAS), dominated by French and Portuguese Nations while he could hardly grapple with the economic mess he had created with the removal of Fuel Subsidy and the complete destabilization of the Foreign Exchange architecture!

In a Parliament Democracy, he would have been blocked by the Opposition because it was diversionary and a ploy to take advantage of Nigeria’s mismanaged economy of consecutive administrations – military and civilian!

UNDER TINUBU’S WATCH ECOWAS HAS DISINTEGRATED!

Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS; also known as CEDEAO in French and Portuguese) is a regional political and economic union of twelve countries of West Africa.
The stated goal of ECOWAS is to achieve “collective self-sufficiency” for its member states by creating a single large trade bloc by building a full economic and trading union.
ECOWAS currently has 12 member states: five French-speaking, five English-speaking, and two Portuguese-speaking. All current members joined the community as founding members in May 1975, except Cape Verde which joined in 1977.
When Bola Tinubu took over, Niger was suspended from ECOWAS after the 2023 coup d’état and threatened with military intervention if President Mohamed Bazoum is not restored to office, causing the Nigerien crisis.
Additionally, ECOWAS closed all land and air borders between other member states and Niger and instituted a no-fly zone on all commercial flights to and from Niger. The suspension removed all commercial and financial transactions and froze Niger’s assets in ECOWAS central banks.
On 16 September 2023, Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso formed a military alliance, the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), following ECOWAS’s threat to intervene to restore civilian rule in Niger.

On 21 November 2023, Niger’s military government asked the ECOWAS regional court to order the lifting of sanctions imposed on the country. Until the coup, aid from countries like the United States and international organizations like ECOWAS accounted for almost half of Niger’s annual budget.
Following Niger’s ECOWAS suspension, Niger’s neighbors closed their borders to the country and 70 percent of its electricity, coming from Nigeria, was cut off.

“According to the document “federally collected revenue saw a 5.31% increase compared to the previous quarter, though it still fell short of the benchmark by 19.67%.”
“On the expenditure side, aggregate expenditure increased by 2.22% compared to Q3 2024, though it was 22.09% lower than the quarterly target. As a result, the fiscal deficit narrowed by 3.61% when compared to the previous quarter, but widened by 34.44% relative to the proportionate quarterly target,” the report read.
“Nigeria has struggled to fund its budget overtime, relying heavily on loans which has overtime led to high debt servicing figures.
“At end-September 2024, public debt stock remained within the 70.00 per cent threshold for Market-Access Countries,” the report read
“Total public debt outstanding stood at ₦142.32 trillion (51.29% of GDP), at end-September 2024, and was 5.97 per cent, higher than the level.”

BILL TO RETURN NIGERIA TO PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM SCALES SECOND READING AT HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES!
A bill seeking to return the country to a parliamentary system of government passed its second reading on the floor of the House of Representatives on Thursday, 27th March 2025. The bill was among 31 Constitution amendment bills passed for second reading at the plenary presided over by Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Okezie Kalu.

The proposed legislation, titled: “A Bill for an Act to Alter the Provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, to Provide for the Office of the Prime Minister as Head of Government and the Office of President as Head of State and to Provide for a Framework for the Mode of Election to the Said Offices and for Related Matters (HB.1115)”, is sponsored by the House Minority Leader, Kingsley Chinda, and 59 other lawmakers. If passed, the bill will replace the current presidential system with a parliamentary model, where executive powers will be vested in a Prime Minister elected by the legislature, while the President will serve as the ceremonial Head of State. Daily Trust reports that 60 members of the House of Representatives had on February 14, 2024 introduced three bills proposing alterations to the Nigerian Constitution 1999 (as amended) to transition from the current presidential system to the parliamentary system of government by 2031. The bills are the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (Alteration) Bill, 2024 (HB.1115); Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (Alteration) Bill, 2024 (HB.1116) and Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (Alteration) Bill, 2024 (HB.1117).
Briefing journalists after the introduction of the bills, the lawmakers said they came together across party affiliations and regional backgrounds to present the bills proposing constitutional alterations to pave the way for the transition of the system of government.
“Over the years, the imperfections of the presidential system of government have become glaring to all, despite several alterations to the constitution to address the shortcomings of a system that has denied the nation the opportunity of attaining its full potential. “Among these imperfections are the high cost of governance, leaving fewer resources for crucial areas like infrastructure, education and healthcare, and consequently hindering the nation’s development progress, and the excessive powers vested in the members of the executive, who are appointees and not directly accountable to the people. “That (parliamentary) was the governance system of the First Republic, a period when legislative and executive powers were exercised by the representatives of the people in parliament and in the executive, and by the nature of the system, these representatives were accountable to the people. For six years while it was in operation, the system worked for the country,” he said. The lawmakers had argued that the return of Nigeria to the parliamentary system would make government accountable, responsible, responsive, and ultimately less expensive.

1. Unicameral or A One House System Of Government is a RESPONSIBLE GOVERNMENT.
2. It is COST-FRIENDLY, COST-EFFECTIVE because Legislative Aspirants would not campaign across the entire country, but within their locality which are their CONSTITUENCIES.
3. Successfully elected parliamentarians would appoint from among themselves their leaders while the Party with the majority votes WILL PRODUCE THE PRIME MINISTER who becomes the head of government.
4. In a unicameral legislature, there are two executive posts, namely the Prime Minister which is the REAL EXECUTIVE and the CEREMONIAL and the CEREMONIAL EXECUTIVE who serves as figurative Head of State and concurs with cabinet activities as obtained when Nigeria became a Republic between 1963 and 1966.
5. At that time the first Prime Minister of Nigeria was Alhaji Tafara Balewa while the Ceremonial President was Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe.
6. Daily proceedings and activities of the Cabinet were not run on the pages of newspapers or media networks like in the presidential system where they employ such strategy to gain publicity and divert public attention from real issues of persistent squandermania!
7. In the parliamentary system, the Day-to-day cabinet proceedings of government at appropriate times are disseminated by the Prime Minister or any designated Minister of the cabinet.
8. Unlike the presidential system there is no specific tenure of office for the Prime Minister as he/she remains in office for as long as he/she performs creditably. It could be tenure of ONE MONTH, THREE MONTHS, ONE YEAR, THREE YEARS as the case may be. It could even be ELEVEN YEARS like the IRON LADY, Late MARGARET THATCHER, 1979 to 1990!
9. The executive Prime Minister, who is a product of the legislative. Is responsible to the legislators, his colleagues and parliamentarians, with whom he shares a collective responsibility of the whole Council, because he and his ministers are elected from among other members of Parliament. (always addressed addressed as the Lower House, or in Britain as the House of Commons because the so-called common but very efficient citizens who dwell among their peers are able to run efficient and effective governments.
10. Towards the close of the last quarter of 2021, the British government encouraged its citizens to apply for loans that attracted only one digit interest to purchase personal houses because the government had a DEEP VAULT since its Treasury had not been continually looted like what we have in the Presidential System of Nigeria setting since 1999!
11. In a parliamentary system of government, a Prime Minister could resign at any time of his/hér tenure to avoid being kicked out through a vote of no confidence.


CONCLUSION:
Before this Bill being flaunted by the House of Representatives goes into THIRD AND FINAL READING, that idea of its implementation from 2031 MUST BE QUICKLY DELETED, CANCELLED, EXPUNGED!

Was the clamping down of State of Emergency on Rivers State the only option open to President Bola Tinubu to resolve the political lock jam in that Oil Rich Delta Region of the Federal Republic of Nigeria? Of course not!
But in his agitated mind, that move was strategic to “win” Rivers State in 2027 through Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesome Wike who boasted that Heaven would not fall if his predecessor was IMPEACHED!

For his inappropriate decision Tinubu has run foul of the, 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
Chapter 8 Part 2 Section 305(1)(2)(3)(d), which he predicated his action upon does not stipulate SUSPENSION OR REMOVAL OF DULY ELECTED OFFICERS OF BOTH THE LEGISLATURE AND THE EXECUTIVE FROM OFFICE!
The combined Provisions of Sections 1(2), 14(1)(c),176(1)(2), and 305(1) of the Nigerian Constitution create a delicate balance of rights and responsibilities, ensuring that the exercise of presidential power does not override the people’s right to participate in their own governance.
Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka says President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers state betrays the spirit of federalism.
Soyinka said the Nigerian constitution gives the president too much powers.
Commenting on the legality of the declaration, Soyinka said there is a need to amend some sections of the constitution.
He also said it is debatable if the move was a wise one.
Ex-President Jonathan also noted that a country’s international standing and the investments it could attract depended on its leaders’ positive actions in advancing democracy and good governance.
In 2013 while in power, Jonathan declared a state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states, without suspending the political leadership of the states.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) filed a lawsuit against President Bola Tinubu over what it describes as the unlawful suspension of Rivers State Governor, his deputy, and members of the state’s House of Assembly.
The action, Initiated at the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeks to challenge the president’s decision for declaring a state of emergency in the state.
The Group says suspension violates Nigerian constitution and international law.


TINUBU IS RIGHT SAYS PRESIDENCY!

But the Presidency has countered former President Goodluck Jonathan and Nobel laureate Professor Wole Soyinka over their strong criticisms of the state of emergency declared in Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, dismissed their comments as personal opinions, asserting that Tinubu acted within his constitutional mandate in the face of escalating violence in the state.

Nyesome Wike, former Rivers State Governor in spite of his juicy appointment as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), from 2023 kept inhibiting his predecessor from freely running State affairs!
The feud according to reliable sources had to do with the new governor’s deliberate failure to honor the gentleman’s “50-50” agreement sharing formula of all political appointments!
But Mr. Tinubu in his usual stubborn manner did not listen because he was both complicit and partisan!
Going down the memory lane, Wike in 2023 promised to deliver all Rivers State votes to Tinubu during the months of campaign for presidential election though he was a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governor to ensure his (Tinubu’s ), victory in the South -South Geo-political Zone.
On assumption of office as President, Tinubu rewarded Wike, an opposition party member with a ministerial post

Even though Tinubu gave Wike a free hand to perform his ministerial duties, Wike on the other hand pressurized his predecessor to divide the largesse of office in two equal halves!

From 29th May 2023 to date there had not been peace in Rivers State. Majority of the. PDP Members of the State Assembly loyal to the former governor jumped ship and crossed into the ruling All progressive. Congress (APC) to which Wike is loyal.
UNCONSTITUTIONAL DECLARATION OF STATE OF EMERGENCY!

Excerpts of the State House, Abuja Press Release in which President Bola Tinubu declared “State of Emergency” in Rivers State on Tuesday 18 March 2025.
“Fellow Nigerians, I feel greatly disturbed at the turn we have come to regarding the political crisis in Rivers State. Like many of you, I have watched with concern the development with the hope that the parties involved would allow good sense to prevail at the soonest, but all that hope burned out without any solution to the crisis.
“On February 28, 2025, the Supreme Court in a judgment in respect of about eight consolidated appeals concerning the political crisis in Rivers State, based on several grave unconstitutional acts and disregard of rule of law that have been committed by the Governor of Rivers State as shown by the evidence before it pronounced in very clear terms: “a government cannot be said to exist without one of the three arms that make up the government of a state under the 1999 Constitution as amended. In this case the head of the executive arm of the government has chosen to collapse the legislature to enable him to govern without the legislature as a despot. As it is there is no government in Rivers State.”

“In the circumstance, having soberly reflected on and evaluated the political situation in Rivers State and the Governor and Deputy Governor of Rivers State having failed to make a request to me as President to issue this proclamation as required by section 305(5) of the 1999 Constitution as amended, it has become inevitably compelling for me to invoke the provision of section 305 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended, to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State with effect from today, 18th March, 2025 and I so do.
“By this declaration, the Governor of Rivers State, Mr Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, Mrs Ngozi Odu and all elected members of the House of Assembly of Rivers State are hereby suspended for an initial period of six months.
“In the meantime, I hereby nominate Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (Rtd) as Administrator to take charge of the affairs of the state in the interest of the good people of Rivers State. For the avoidance of doubt, this declaration does not affect the judicial arm of Rivers State, which shall continue to function in accordance with their constitutional mandate.” (Does Tinubu’s action not tantamount to a MILITARY COUP D’ETAT against Rivers State Government?

This declaration has been published in the Federal Gazette, a copy of which has been forwarded to the National Assembly in accordance Constitutional provisions and both Chambers have ratified the Illegality through very ridiculous processes when they could not form the two third majority quorum!

The State High Court, Justice Danagogo, in Port Harcourt has granted an order preventing the Sole Administrator from resuming his duties in Rivers State pending the determination of the substantive suit and urged all parties to maintain the status quo.
Since his investiture as President in 2023, Tinubu has been emersed in multiple controversies which border on POLICY SOMERSAULTS but his handlers always covered up OLD LIES WITH FRESH LIES !

Must President Bola Tinubu always look the other way for his ubiquitous and cantankerous Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesome Wike to set Rivers State on FIRE provided such move would consolidate another “victory” for him at the 2027 Presidential Election in spite of his abysmal socio-economic failure in twenty months?

He says he tried privately and publicly to forge peace, told leaders of Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) to go back home and work for peace, in compliance with the rule of law.
From the onset when Wike introduced the godfather conundrum into the Rivers politics, Mr Tinubu was conspicuously sided with his Minister who was opposed by a larger population of the State Citizens.

The political crisis rocking Rivers State, took another dimension after his successor Sim Fubara, was denied access to the temporary legislative quarters, where the Martins Amaewhule -led lawmakers’ hold their meetings.

It should be recalled that the 27-member Amaewhule-led lawmakers, fanatically loyal to Wike and now recognized by the Supreme Court, initially defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)!

Fubara was at the premises to present the 2025 Rivers State budget, as mandated by a Supreme Court judgment and speaking at the scene, the governor said he had formally contacted the Speaker and other lawmakers but received no response.
And Wike who was former Rivers State Governor during a media interview on Wednesday 12th March 2025, suggested that Governor Fubara should be impeached if found wanting, stating that impeachment was not a criminal offense and criticized the current state of the Rivers government!

The Niger Delta Region is the ecological zone which crude oil and gas revenues significantly contribute to the national economy, accounting for a substantial portion of government revenue and foreign exchange earnings at times up 80-90 per cent in which Rivers State is conspicuously ahead of others.

In 2023, Nigeria’s oil revenue saw a significant increase, rising by 83%; it exported $43.5 billion in crude petroleum, with the main destinations being the United States, France, Netherlands, Spain, and Indonesia.

RUSH FOR RIVERS OIL WEALTH!

In spite of the fact that the All Progressives Congress (APC), Government has woefully drowned the Nigerian economy in the last 10 years, failed politicians from Opposition Parties are shamelessly jumping ship into its platform to strategize for 2027, because that is where the INSTITUTIONAL CORRUPTION thrives!

And whereas all economic indices point to the fact that nothing has worked positively for the country since President Tinubu unilaterally remove petroleum subsidy, merged both the official and parallel foreign exchange rates for the naira to find it’s level. In the international market!

Chicago Accountant, Mr. Tinubu was totally uninformed that a nation’s currency could only thrive in a volatile global economic market if it’s industries and all production lines are on full steam but his Economic Advisors covered up by publishing false figures of progress to deceive the Citizens that government was on course!

However, Nigeria is blessed with great economic analysts and other professionals who had always debunked all institutional falsehoods to shed light on the true perspectives.
For those looking forward to 2027 in order to further loot The Treasury, they should think twice because no amount of GANGUP would stop the enactment of a new Parliamentary Constitution that will totally erase the Presidential System and block all channels of endemic corruption of 65 years of the nascent democracy!¹

In the November 2019 Kogi State Gubernatorial Election that confirmed the second bid of Yahaya Bello as Governor, Natasha Hadiza Akpoti was the female Social Democratic Party Candidate in that contest! The entire political temperature in the build- up to, and during that election that took place on Saturday 16th November was outrageously hostile to Natasha and her Party!

Godswill Akpabio was the “Very Common Women-Friendly Governor” of Akwa Ibom State who held sway 2007-2015, enjoyed immense immunity and thereafter had a four year stint at the Nigerian Senate representing his State’s North West District 2015-2019. JOY NUNIEH’S ALLEGATION OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT AGAINST AKPABIO!

On July 13, 2020, Joy Nunieh, a former Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), alleged that she slapped Godswill Akpabio for sexually harassing her.
Nunieh made the allegation during an interview on Arise TV. Akpabio, the incumbent Senate President, was minister of Niger Delta affairs at the time. During the interview, Nunieh said the incident occurred at Akpabio’s Guest House in Abuja. The Ex-Acting MD had said her reaction to the harassment proved her intolerance for “nonsense” as a woman from Rivers state. Akpabio had denied the allegation through a statement issued by his media aide.

But the Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, will challenge in court the six-month suspension slammed on her following her face-off with the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, over SEATING ARRANGEMENTS in the RED CHAMBER. Her legal counsel Mr. Victor Giwa, dismissed the Senate resolution as a violation of a court order while The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and opposition parties similarly berated the red chamber for not giving Akpoti-Uduaghan ample time to present her sexual harassment complaint against Akpabio. The Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges acted in violation of a court order that allegedly restrained it from taking further action on the matter pending the determination of a motion on notice. The suspension is therefore illegal, null, void and of no effect because there is a court order that restrained the Committee from taking further action. THE UNETHICAL ETHICS COMMITTEE disobeyed a valid court order that was served on them, and has put the SENATE into great disrepute!

Natasha’s Counsel said fresh petition would be filed in court to seek redress for the embattled Legislator. He further said that the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria supersedes the Senate Standing Orders, adding that every citizen had the right to seek redress in court when their civil rights are breached. “Section 6, subsection 6 of the Constitution grants every citizen the right to seek redress when their civil rights are violated.” He further said that Senator Natasha has complied because her suspension is an attempt to silence her for alleging wrongdoing against the Senate President, which amounts to a breach of her right to a fair hearing.


THE DRACONIAN “SENTENCE” ON NATASHA!

The Senate imposed a six-month suspension on the lawmaker without pay over what it called the breach of its Standing Orders following her claim of sexual harassment, an allegation that Akpabio denied.
In an earlier interview with Arise Television on February 28, 2025, the Kogi Senator, who made headlines the previous week after a public dispute with the Senate President over seating arrangements in the Senate, accused Akpabio of making sexual advances towards her. Her sexual harassment complaint was referred to a 14-Man Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions for disciplinary review, which later recommended her suspension.

The seven-point recommendations are as follows:

1. That the Senate do suspend Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months for her total violation of Senate standing rules, bringing the presiding officer and the entire Senate to public opprobrium.
2. That for the Senate to consider lifting or reducing the duration of the suspension, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan shall submit a written apology to the Senate before reconsideration.
3. That the Senate suspends Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan with effect from March 6, 2025, from all legislative activities.
4. That her office be locked up for the duration of her suspension and that she hands over all Senate properties in her possession to the Clerk of the National
5. That for the duration of her suspension, she must not be seen within the vicinity of the Senate or the National Assembly, including her staff.
6. That her salaries and allowances, including those of her legislative aides, be suspended, and that all security details assigned to her be withdrawn for the period of her suspension.
7. That during her suspension, she be barred from representing herself locally and internationally as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

THE SENATE MUST BE SCRAPPED TO PAVE WAY FOR THE UNICAMERAL PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUTION FOR NATION BUILDERS !

(c) Individual collection of CONSTITUENCIES ALLOCATIONS and “executing” such CONTRACTS personally!

There was also “The Okigbo Panel report” which revealed that $12.4bn passed through the account, with $12.2bn allegedly spent on non-regenerative projects deemed non-beneficial to the Nigerian economy!

4) The heartless execution of Major General Maman Vatsa, his childhood friend and best man at his marriage for an alleged involvement in a coup plot to overthrow his government!
5) It was Babangida, who during his eight-year tenure that INSTITUTIONALIZED CORRUPTION through a system of “BRIBE SETTLEMENT” to silence all opposition to his military junta!
6) His Minna Hilltop Residence has been turned into a “Mecca” of sort for political charlatans who must remain permanently in office THROUGH HIS ENDORSEMENT!
7) All beneficiaries of his very corrupt military junta applauded with resounding clapping as he read out from a prepared speech, details of his very cruel and sadistic military excesses over the downtrodden and hapless CITIZENS OF NIGERIA!

Although Moshood Abiola, whom many believed won election was imprisoned and his wife assassinated but it is now in his Memoir, that Babangida has admitted that TRUTH! Abiola died in suspicious circumstances in 1998 and Babangida now says, “That accident of history was the most regrettable. The nation was entitled to expect my expression of regret!”

Although irresponsible leadership of consecutive administrations in Nigeria have consistently derelict on socio-economic commitments, they however succeeded to brainwash a large chunk of gullible followers to support such glaring shortfall in accountability!

Inside death chamber: How NAFDAC raided expired drug revalidation factories in Aba!
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Monday, February 10, 2025, raided EKUMI Drug Market in the Ariaria area of Aba, Abia State, where it discovered methamphetamine (Mpuru Mmiri), banned and some unregistered medicines in some shops in the market.
Also discovered Monday, which was day-one of the raid, were Analgin injection and Gentamicin 280 mg, which had long been banned by the agency in a magnificent two-storey plaza filled from top to ground floors!
This is coming barely 5-months (August 20, 2024) after some patent medicine dealers in the market, under the aegis of EKUMI Plaza Patent Medicine Dealers Association (EPPMDA), claimed to have purged themselves from stocking expired and fake medicines, by voluntarily handing over some counterfeit and expired medicines, estimated to about ₦50million to the food and drugs regulatory agency for destruction.
An action that is in line with the order of the Federal Government, represented by NAFDAC to ensure that expired and unwholesome drugs are removed from the market for the safety of consumers.
COMMENT: EPPMDA’s action in the preceding paragraph has proved to be DIVERSIONARY but the government agency which had its plain cloth operatives on ground had beaten them to their GAME OF DECEIT!
In a Press Interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), NAFDAC Director of Investigation and Enforcement, Mr. Shaba Mohammed said that simultaneous operations conducted at the IDUMOTA OPEN DRUGS MARKET in Lagos State alongside ONITSHA AND ABA, would rid the country of counterfeit and substandard medicines.
The Director also, told the Media during the enforcement exercise on Tuesday that the Lagos Market was sealed on Sunday.
He said It was sealed alongside the Ariaria drug market in Aba, Abia State and the Onitsha drug market in Anambra State.

POLITICAL INTERVENTION BY PETER OBI IS DANGEROUS PRECEDENCE!

During the ABA RAID, the entire shopping complex which had to be closed down for one week to fish out the culprits attracted orchestrated sundry protests from the traders and some politicians. Isolate the identified building that have run foul of the law,
Carry out your investigation in such areas only to avoid depriving other unaffected traders of their DAILY BREAD!

According to him there were PLUMBERS and others who do not market drugs!
Peter Obi’s visit was no doubt a political stunt towards another shot at the presidential seat in 2027, trusting that he garner large votes from that region!
The lofty and prestigious position of the presidency only matter to avaricious and greedy Nigerian Politicians!
Did Peter Obi ponder that the entire Aba Market is a Cartel of all shades and characters in illegal dispensation of fake drugs to innocent citizens ?

NIGERIANS CONDEMN CORRUPTION BUT DEFEND CORRUPT LEADERS – EFCC CHAIRMAN. 3rd February 2025.
The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, has said some Nigerians complain of corruption but support corrupt leaders in various ways when they are prosecuted.
While addressing officials of the Centre for Crisis Communication led by one Chris Olukolade, the EFCC boss pointed out the contradiction in public attitude, nothing that while Nigerians decry corruption, they often support and defend corrupt leaders when they are prosecuted.
“Everybody is crying that Nigerians are corrupt, that the system is corrupt, that corruption is killing us and destroying our system, but when we investigate high profile cases and arraign people in court, the same people will carry placards and be supporting corrupt leaders.
It doesn’t show that we are serious about this fight, the fight is supposed to be a collaborative effort, he said.
Olukoyede noted that the fight against corruption required collaboration between the government and the citizens, adding that true progress requires a collective commitment to integrity and accountability.

He stated that corruption remained the biggest obstacle to national development.
One of the major problems in Nigeria which when tackled, will make under-development a thing of the past, is corruption and financial crimes, he said.
Olukoyede reiterated the EFCC’s commitment to combating financial crimes within the ambit of the law and called for greater public collaboration in the fight against corruption”.
Were not all the Presidential Candidates during the 2023 Election Adjudged to be corrupt?

National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Thursday, 14th February 2025, told the Canadian High Commission in Nigeria “to go to hell” after its embassy , allegedly “denied” issuance of Visas to some Officers of Nigeria’s Military High Command, including the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), Christopher Musa.

That very undiplomatic outburst was Ribadu’s reaction to the alleged incident as related by the CDS, at the maiden annual lecture of the National Association of the Institute for Security Studies (AANISS), at which he was in attendance.

For flash anger to ignite the temperament of a high-ranking officer of his caliber in respect of an unresolved diplomatic engagement, speaks volumes of a flawed process through which he was initially recruited.
Such disrespectful vituperation against Canada, a Sovereign Nation which for decades had enjoyed cordial, diplomatic, military, economic and cultural relations with Nigeria, was most uncalled for!
And whereas it was yet to be ascertained that the entire Visa transaction was a “denial” because half of the Military Delegation were granted Visa and were already in Canada!

Nigeria Bureau of Statistics Report:
“Nigeria recorded more than 600,000 deaths from insecurity between May 2023 and April 2024, according to data by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The report, released late Wednesday (18th December 2024), with users having a difficult time accessing the website because of a hack, said no fewer than 614,937 people were killed nationwide as the banditry-ravaged northwest saw the highest figure with 206,030.
It was followed by the northeast with 188,992, while the least was recorded in the southwest at 15,693, according to the report.

From the period of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan's administration (2010-2015), to date "un-governed spaces" in Northern Nigeria had been a re-current phenomenon!
When ex-president Muhammadu Buhari took over the mantle of leadership in 2015 he was quick to confess that some un-governed spaces existed in the northern parts especially in the North East and that within few months to the end of that year he was able to dislodge insurgents from 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs)!
But throughout his eight-year tenure, bandits operated freely in those "RE-CLAIMED LGAs" and in 19 months of the current administration of Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu, ungoverned spaces have increased by leaps and bounds! "Conflict and insecurity, rising inflation and the impact of the climate crisis continue to drive hunger in Nigeria – with 26.5 million people across the country projected to face acute hunger in the June-August 2024 lean season. This is a staggering increase from the 18.6 million people food insecure at the end of 2023.
"Conflict in the North East region has displaced 2.2 million people and left another 4.4 million food insecure in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states. "The World Food Programe is prioritizing its operations to reach 1.1 million vulnerable people every month in Northern Nigeria. Those receiving assistance include displaced people living in camps or host communities, as well as vulnerable members of host communities and people returning home after months of displacement.
"WFP uses either food or cash transfers to support displaced people living in camps or with host communities, as well as vulnerable host populations.
"With diminishing resources, WFP is prioritizing its operations to reach 1.1 million vulnerable people every month in Northern Nigeria.
"Additional reports from UNP also stated that a staggering 33 million people will face acute food insecurity in Nigeria in 2025, with the number of people facing emergency levels of need projected to almost double.
"Nationally, the number of people experiencing Emergency levels (Phase 4) of food insecurity is projected to increase from 1 million people in the peak of the 2024 lean season to 1.8 million people at the same period in 2025, representing a worrying 80 percent rise."The Report also stated that Nigeria grappled with economic hardship, coupled with record high inflation (which reached 40.9 percent for food, and 34.2 percent for all items in June 2024), which was a record increase in food prices amid record high transportation cost!
According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the price of beans in October 2024 was 282 percent above the same period in 2023. Similarly, the price of local rice rose by 153 percent compared to October 2024.

These economic shocks resulted in the continuous devaluation of the local currency (Naira) against the United States Dollar (USD), external economic factors, and last year’s policy changes on discontinuation of the fuel subsidy.

Presidency in Nigeria has become odious, stale, uninspiring and completely outdated!
From inception in 1999, when the new democratic order was introduced, occupiers of the exalted office from one administration to another in 24 years, came on board unprepared!
The most recent, Alhaji Bola Tinubu, shocked the global community when he shouted from the rooftop in his native dialect that it was his turn to administer or rule over Nigeria – the most populous country in Africa, South of the Sahara.
“Emilokan” (meaning, “It is my turn”), was the popular jingle which resonated the entire landscape of the country throughout the campaign period into his eventual election and investiture on 29th May 2023!
And he wasted no time to confirm our postulation that all he desired like his predecessors was the prestigious title and not the meticulous and cerebral discharge of the high profile duties attached to the exalted office through his policy gaffes which completely derailed all economic fortunes of the nation!

IT'S BEEN NINETEEN MONTHS OF SELF- IMPOSED ECONOMIC HARDSHIP ON THE CITIZENS!

The following assessments should be regarded as the midterm compilation of the myriad of economic woes forced on the population but which can still be reversed!
According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Nigeria’s economy has seen growth in some areas, but has also faced inflation and other challenges.
GROWTH.
In the first quarter of 2024, Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 2.98% year-on-year. This was higher than the 2.31% growth in the same quarter in 2023.
In the fourth quarter of 2023, Nigeria’s GDP grew by 3.46% year-on-year. This was higher than the 2.54% growth in the third quarter of 2023.
The services sector contributed the most to GDP growth in the first quarter of 2024, accounting for 58.04% of the total.
[All of the recorded “growths” are infinitesimal when juxtaposed with transportation challenges inflicted on the population through the unilateral removal of the SUBSIDY from 29th May 2023!]

INFLATION!

In January 2024, Nigeria’s headline inflation rate was 29.90%. This was higher than the 28.92% rate in December 2023.
As of December 2024, Nigeria’s inflation rate was 34.80%. This is part of a period of rising inflation in Nigeria, which has been accompanied by a cost-of-living crisis.

BREAKDOWN.

In January 2023, Nigeria’s inflation rate was 21.82%, which was a 0.47% increase from December 2022.
In June 2023, Nigeria’s inflation rate was 22.79%, which was a 0.38% increase from May 2023.
In September 2024, Nigeria’s inflation rate was 32.70%, which was an increase from August 2024.
Some of the items that have seen price increases in Nigeria include:
Food, such as tomatoes, beans, groundnut oil, potatoes, and vegetable oil
Fuel and gas, such as diesel, gasoline, and cooking gas
Other items, such as clothing, footwear, non-alcoholic beverages, housing water, electricity, and other fuel related items.

OTHER CHALLENGES.

The oil and gas sector has faced negative growth rates in recent years.
The agriculture sector has been affected by flooding.
The employment situation in Nigeria has been monitored by the NBS using the National Labor Force Survey (NLFS).

BUT THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE OPEN TO PRESIDENT TINUBU – ONE-HOUSE PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT!

On 9th August 2024, former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku and other Patriots requested an executive bill for a national constituent assembly to draft Nigeria’s new constitution.
Group of Nigerian statesmen, The Patriots, has urged President Bola Tinubu to convene a constituent assembly to draft “a people democratic pluralistic constitution” for the country.
This came as the group, led by former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Emeka Anyaoku met with the president at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
Anyaoku, who addressed State House correspondents after the meeting, urged the president to forward an executive bill to the National Assembly to legislate on a national referendum that will approve the draft constitution.
He said the 109-member constituent assembly should be mandated to produce the draft constitution to be subjected to a referendum.
This referendum, he argued, will give legitimacy to the new constitution.
“We put some proposals to Mr. President and we urged him to send a president’s executive bill to the National Assembly, a bill that will call for two essential measures.
“One, the convening of a National Constituent Assembly, to be mandated to produce a new draft constitution. We suggested that such a National Constituent Assembly should consist of individuals elected by the people on a non-party basis.
“Say, for example, three individuals per state, per each of the 36 states and one from the Federal Capital Territory and they should be mandated to produce a new draft constitution,” he explained.

Anyaoku premised this proposal on the argument that Nigeria needs a pluralistic constitution to tackle its development challenges.
Citing Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia and Sudan, he noted that countries that failed to manage their pluralism through a federal constitution are on course for eventual disintegration.
He said countries such as India and Canada, with pluralistic constitutions, have remained resilient.
The former Commonwealth helmsman explained, “Nigeria, we affirmed to Mr. President, is a pluralistic country. And you all know that pluralistic countries exist all over the world.
“Those of them who addressed their pluralism by having true federal constitutions have survived. An example is India and Canada.
“But pluralistic countries that failed to address their basic challenge of pluralism through a federal Constitution have ended up disintegrating. Examples of that are Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, and Sudan, here in Africa.”
On the #EndBadGovernance protest, The Patriots urged Tinubu to dialogue with the leaders.
They also advised law enforcement agencies to avoid using lethal weapons on protesting civilians.

The Auditor General of the Federation of Nigeria of Nigeria has released a very damning and indicting report in respect of several financial infringements by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) running into Trillions of naira within four years 2017 to 2021.
And whereas, President Bola Tinubu, on his inaugural podium on 29th May 2023, unilaterally jettisoned fuel subsidy to create additional avenue for corporate robbery of the common patrimony within the NNPCL FOUR TOWERS OF CORRUPTION!

How NNPCL diverted N2.68tn, $9.77m, shunned probe invitations – Sunday Punch Report. 12th January 2025.

“Amid its controversial financial dealings that have negatively impacted the nation’s financial standing, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has been accused by the Auditor-General of the Federation of diverting a total sum of N2.68tn and $9.77m in the last four years.
“Findings by Sunday PUNCH using the Auditor-General’s annual reports published between 2017 and 2021 showed that N1.33tn was diverted in 2017, N681.02bn in 2019, N151.12bn, ($19.77m) in 2020 and N514bn in 2021 amounting to N2.68tn and $19.77m over four years.
“The reports, which were submitted to the National Assembly, indicated that there were violations of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the 2009 Act of Financial Regulations.
Checks by PUNCH correspondents also revealed that the national oil firm, while disregarding good corporate governance practices, did not provide any response or justification for the infractions raised by the auditor general within the review period.
And while the Auditor General was busy probing NNPCL Accounts, the Corporation clandestinely released the following report of that it is a profitable venture!

NNPCL LATEST AUDITED REPORT:

NNPC Limited has released its 2023 Audited Financial Statement (AFS), declaring a net profit of N3. 297trn at the close of the financial year that ended in December 2023, an increase of over N700bn (28%) compared to the 2022 profit, with a view to pre- emptying the Auditor General’s Report covering the period from 2017-2021!
In addition to all of the above, there was also a report by Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), of Nigeria’s total dependence on imported petroleum products and that the Federal Government spent a whopping N15.8 trillion on fuel subsidy between 2006 and 2023, with NNPCL in the lead as major importer!

“CITIZEN Bola Tinubu joined the famous 2012 protest against President Goodluck Jonathan’s petrol subsidy removal, but he has invested energy in ensuring the imminent #EndBadGovernance demonstration does not come to fruition.
“On January 2, 2012, Mr Tinubu joined the Occupy Nigeria protest to force President Jonathan to rescind his decision to raise premium motor spirit (PMS) or petrol price from N87 to N145. Former Nigerian Labour Congress President, Mr Adams Oshiomole; former President Muhammadu Buhari; Nobel Laurette, Prof Wole Soyinka; former APC Chairman, Mr John Oyegun; former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, among many others, were all part of the protest.
“During the demonstration, Mr. Tinubu had accused President Jonathan of breaking the social contract with the people, which he personally signed, noting that President Jonathan must not remove petrol subsidies.
“Government must modify the sudden and complete removal of the subsidy. Either we restore the subsidy or use the funds for other social purposes,” Mr Tinubu said on January 11, 2012, during the protest.
“If we are to use the funds for other programmes, these programmes shall be placed on parallel track with the subsidy. As more of these programmes are ready to go on line, then the subsidy can be lifted in phases. In this way, the public is assured government will not lower its total expenditure on their behalf, thus maintaining the spirit central to the social contract.”

CHANGE OF COURSE AFTER BEING PRESIDENT!

“Eleven years after these comments, Mr Tinubu became President of Nigeria, winning the controversial 2023 presidential election. However, he has done exactly what he accused former President Jonathan of, removing petrol subsidies that had kept fuel at less than N200 per litre.
“He had announced that “subsidy is gone” on the day of his inauguration on May 29, 2023. Despite that, he still pays PMS subsidies even as a litre of fuel has now exceeded N600.
“In 2012, Nigeria’s subsidy payment stood at N1.35 trillion, according to the defunct Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA). In 2023, under President Tinubu, the nation paid N3.6 trillion in petrol subsidies and will spend N5.4 trillion in 2024 despite denials by government officials. Yet PMS price is nearly N700 per litre at several filling stations.
“Even with high petrol prices, scarcity has not abated. As at the time of publishing this story, several petrol stations in Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Onitsha and Ibadan, among others, have no PMS.
“Black market operators sell a litre of petrol at N1200 to N1,500 across the country.

WORLD BANK’S ASSESSMENT OF NNPCL!

The NNPCL has been regarded by the World Bank (WB) and other international organisations as an opaque company due to the limited transparency in its financial dealings.
The World Bank, in its Nigeria Development Update, December 2023 edition, said NNPCL’s opaqueness extends to subsidy arrears that were still being deducted and the impact of subsidy removal on federation revenues.

FORMER CENTRAL GOVERNOR LAMIDO SANUSI INDICTMENT OF NNPCL!

Former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido, from June 2009 to February 2014, first adjudged the NNPC as the “most opaque oil company in the world.”
The vocal economist slammed the NNPCL for allegedly failing to remit enough forex into government coffers.
He also knocked the national oil company for keeping its many joint ventures, oil-backed loans and other shared production arrangements away from Nigerians.
A breakdown showed that the oil firm was accused of 14 financial infractions ranging from unauthorized deductions worth N1.33tn from the Federation Account, discrepancies of N663bn transferred to the Federation Account, non-production of complete information on allocation of crude oil to refineries, non-adherence to payment of all revenue to the federation account, incomplete report of losses of crude oil amongst others.report noted.

CALCOL, CISLAC DEMAND SANCTIONS!

Commenting on the infractions, the Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership (CALCOL), described the NNPCL as a hub of institutional corruption, alleging that powerful interests within and outside the government had shielded the organisation from accountability.
CACOL’s Executive Director, Debo Adeniran, lamented that despite the enactment of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), aimed at decentralising and unbundling the NNPCL, the company’s operations remained opaque and rife with allegations of corruption.
According to Adeniran, the NNPCL has always been a source of liquid enrichment for government officials, even before it was converted into a limited liability company.
“The operations of the NNPCL have always been shrouded in secrecy. Even the Petroleum Industry Act has not helped. Despite all the noise about decentralisation and unbundling of the NNPCL, nothing has materialised.
“It is the strongest cabal in Nigeria. All the powerful elements in government and MDAs work in concert with those managing the NNPCL’s accounts, perhaps due to gratification.
“Even the anti-corruption agencies find it difficult to probe the NNPCL. A couple of attempts were made by the ICPC and EFCC in the past, but they have not been able to uncover anything. There must be something shielding the NNPCL from exposure for its corruption crimes,” Adeniran said.
He alleged that the cooperation operated as Nigeria’s most powerful cabal, with influential elements in government and various ministries, departments, and agencies allegedly collaborating with those managing the company’s accounts.
Similarly, the Executive Director of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), Musa Rafsanjani, criticised the NNPCL for its lack of accountability, attributing the failure to not only the corporation but also to President Bola Tinubu, the National Assembly, and security agencies.
Rafsanjani asserted that the president, as the leader of the nation, bore the primary responsibility for ensuring that the NNPCL operated transparently and remained accountable to Nigerians.

“It is within the call of the president, who is supposed to ensure that the NNPCL is accountable to the nation. So, I blame the president for any shortcomings of the NNPCL,” Rafsanjani stated in an interview with Sunday PUNCH.

The civil society leader also expressed dissatisfaction with the National Assembly, particularly the committees overseeing the oil sector, arguing that the lawmakers had a statutory duty to ensure the proper functioning of the NNPCL and criticised them for their perceived inaction in holding the corporation accountable.
Rafsanjani further highlighted the role of security agencies in addressing issues such as crude oil diversion, suggesting they must also share responsibility for the ongoing crisis.
He called on the government and other stakeholders to adopt a firmer stance against the alleged cartel operating within the NNPCL, emphasising the need for a stronger commitment to addressing corruption in the oil sector.

TRUTH OF THE WHOLE MATTER!

The entire political system of Nigeria from the presidency down to the local government areas is abysmally corrupt!

1.Suspend the entire NNPCL management team considering the gravity of the Auditor General’s indicting report:
2. Bring on board highly-efficient, diligent and patriotic professional to run the affairs of the Oil Company for 12 calendar months and
3. Identify and fish out the Fifth Columnists in the system for adequate sanctions according to the Law!
In the meantime, Mr. President as substantive Minister of Petroleum Resources should meticulously monitor all activities personally to save this major foreign exchange earner product from being feasted on by both internal and external predators in collaboration!
HE SHOULD ALSO BEGIN THE PROCESS OF THE CITIZENS DEMAND FOR A (ONE HOUSE) UNICAMERAL PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT THROUGH POPULAR REFERENDUM!

Nigeria's huge indebtedness to China coupled with loop sided trade imbalance in favor of the latter portend grave danger to Nigeria's sovereignty now and in the future as We have consistently elucidated!
Neo-colonialist tendency is an addiction to foremost developed nations and the Peoples Republic of China is not an exception China is a Shylock when it comes to business. China is not a Father Christmas and will go to any length to recover loans to foreign country as at when due.
External loans terms and agreements are always followed strictly to the letter by this very industrious nation that is determined to out-shine the United States of America in all areas of business activities: industry manufacturing, technology, rocket science etc. China has no penchant for defaulters when it comes to recovery of loans to which strict adherence to terms and agreements must be religiously adhered.
In some countries where it faced challenges in loans recovery, strategic infrastructures which were products of the acquired funds would be taken over to recover moneys with interest. The currency swap initiated in May 2018 between the Central Bank of Nigeria and the People's Bank of China (PBOC) was valued at renminbi RMB 16 billion which is about $2.5 billion dollars. It was designed to provide the Chinese and Nigeria currency directly to industrialist and other businesses from both countries.
The deal which commenced in 2018 and renewable every three years was renewed in 2021 to terminate in 2024 to boost bilateral trade as it cuts reliance on dollar transactions between the two nations.
According to Bloomberg, China was Nigeria’s biggest trade partner in 2023, ahead of the United States and the facility was to strengthen financial cooperation and expand the advantageous use of the Nigerian and Chinese currencies. With this deal the direct exchange of the Chinese Yuan and Nigerian naira will be seamless, providing an alternative to the reliance on the US dollar and reducing transaction costs in trade between the two nations.


WHAT IMPACT WOULD THE DEAL HAVE ON NIGERIA'S MIS-MANAGED ECONOMY?

China and Nigeria have a large trade relationship, with China exporting more to Nigeria than Nigeria exports to China. China is Nigeria's largest export market in sub-Saharan Africa, and Nigeria is one of China's largest export markets globally. Main products traded between China and Nigeria are as follows:
China to Nigeria: Manufactured goods like non-knit women's suits, rubber footwear, broadcasting equipment, electronics, phones, laptops, and kitchen utensils
Nigeria to China: Primary products like petroleum gas, crude petroleum, and lead ore which implies trade imbalance because China exports more to Nigeria than Nigeria exports to China! Nigeria's economy is becoming dependent on cheap foreign imports, which has led to a decline in Nigerian industry. In previous publications we had emphasized that the relationship between China and Nigeria had raised concerns about potential economic and political influence from China in the region.


CHINA'S FOOT PRINTS ARE ALL OVER AFRICA!

China as the second largest global economy has in the last two decades intensified efforts to dominate Africa from Cape to Cairo and from Mauritania to Ethiopia through capital investments in their strategic infrastructural projects like railways, hydro dams, sea ports, air ports etc!
Apart from construction of rail tracks, China has invested in Nigeria’s communications satellite projects and
has provided technical aid and training to Nigeria in the agricultural sector.
Previous Loans obtained from China according to the Debt Management Office (DMO), were disbursed as follows:
"The USD3.121 billion Loans are project-tied Loans. The projects, (eleven – 11 in number as at March 31, 2020), include: Nigerian Railway Modernization Project (Idu-Kaduna section), Abuja Light Rail Project, Nigerian Four Airport Terminals Expansion Project (Abuja, Kano, Lagos and Port Harcourt), Nigerian Railway Modernization Project (Lagos-Ibadan section) and Rehabilitation and Upgrading of Abuja – Keffi- Makurdi Road Project. "The impact of these Loans is not only evident but visible. For instance, the Idu – Kaduna Rail Line has become a major source of transportation between Abuja and Kaduna. Also, the new International Airport in Abuja, has improved air transportation for the populace, while the Lagos – Ibadan rail line when completed, will ease traffic on the busy Lagos -Ibadan Expressway. "The projects also have the added benefits of job creation, not only by themselves but through direct and indirect service providers, a number of which are Small and Medium Enterprises. It is widely accepted that investment in infrastructure is one of the most effective tools for countries to achieve economic growth and development. Using Loans from China to finance infrastructure is thus in alignment with this position.

What Is the Process by which the Loans were Obtained?
"The principal process and requirements for borrowing by the Government are expressly stated in the Debt Management Office Establishment (ETC) Act, 2003 (DMO Act) and the Fiscal Responsibility Act, 2007. Section 21 (1) of the DMO Act, “No External loan shall be approved or obtained by the Minister unless its terms and conditions shall have been laid before the National Assembly and approved by its resolution” and Section 41 (1a) of the FRA, “Government at all tiers shall only borrow for capital expenditure and human development, provided that, such borrowing shall be on concessional terms with low interest rate and with a reasonable long amortization period subject to the approval of the appropriate legislative body where necessary”, are instructive in this regard"

MAJOR BILATERAL TRADING PARTNERS.

China and Nigeria have been major bilateral trading partners in recent times. While primary products dominate Nigeria's trade with China, China's in 2022, exported $21.4B to Nigeria. The main products that China exported to Nigeria were Non-Knit Women's Suits ($792M), Rubber Foot wears etc.
With just a meager nine percent overall fertile land, China's formidability exemplified in her agricultural and food policies has afforded her the capacity to feed her population and to export. But Nigeria with vast arable lands had woefully failed to invest heavily in AGRICULTURE!
As at the last quarter of 2024, the benefits of Nigeria's connection with China had finally become very visible in Lagos, Onitsha, Aba, Kano, and nearly any Nigerian market, one may find Chinese Markets, Restaurants, Schools,etc. Over the past five years the exports of China to Nigeria have increased at an annualized rate of 11.9%, from $12.2B in 2017 to $21.4B in 2022. In 2022, China did not export any services to Nigeria. Nigeria-China Trade: In 2022, Nigeria exported $1.52B to China.
In the month of March 2024, Nigeria owed China $5.05 billion in bilateral debt and Nigeria's external debt reached $42.9 billion in June 2024.

TO BREACH THE TRADE IMBALANCE BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURES SHOULD TAKE THE FRONT BURNER AND NIGERIA MUST JOIN BRICS!

Special credits must be given to human rights lawyer and activist Chief Femi Falana (SAN). who took up the challenge following several delays of implementing the swap deal and insisted that Nigeria should take advantage of also joining BRICS comprising of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa who had all agreed to trade with their Nations currencies for greater gains and to minimize extravagant cost of goods and services to the economic advantage of their citizens. The swap was also designed to improve the spread, convenience and volume of transactions between the two countries and to their advantages. But as usual the meddlesome global interlopers the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the World Bank (WB), which had colluded with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), tried to frustrate the currency swap! There was a ceremonial leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Government from 2015 to 2023. His name is Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu who now happens to be the current President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

HIS WIFE SENATOR REMI TINUBU SAYS THEY ARE NOT IN GOVERNMENT TO MAKE MONEY BECAUSE THEY ARE BILLIONAIRES IN HARD CURRENCIES!
Alhaji Tinubu shocked Nigerians to the marrow when in 2022 he claimed that it was his turn to govern Nigeria. It sounded initially like a joke but turned out to be a calculated strategy by the "Chicago Accountant" who had a secret succession agreement with his predecessor whom he BANK - ROLLED IN 2015 TO WIN THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION!
Like Father, like Son! President Bola Tinubu
on assumption of office in May 2023 promised to continue the corrupt legacy bequeathed to him by Papa Buhari who looked the other way while RECOVERED LOOTS WERE RE-LOOTED BY HIS CRONIES!

During Major General Buhari's tenure in the year 2022 the Recovered Abacha Loots totaling a sum of USD$3.65 billion dollars in 24 years was recklessly diverted through PRESIDENTIAL FIAT WITHOUT DUE FINANCIAL DISBURSEMENT PROCESS TO BE EXPENDED ON UNSPECIFIED "RURAL DEVELOPMENT"
AND THE MONEY WAS RE-LOOTED INTO PRIVATE POCKETS!

The total amount of looted funds recovered from late Head of State, General Sani Abacha are as follows:
1) In 1998, a total of $750 million was recovered from the late Head of State’s family;
2) In year 2000, $64 million was recovered from Switzerland;
3) In 2002 – $1.2 billion was recovered from the Abacha family;
4) I n 2003, $160 million and $88 million were recovered from Jersey and Switzerland respectively, and;
5) I n 2005 another $461.3 million was returned back to the country from Switzerland.
6) Also, in 2006, Nigeria was also fortunate to have received another $44.1 million from Switzerland;
7) In 2014 – $227 million was recovered from Liechtenstein;
I n 2018 another $322 million from Switzerland;
9) In 2020 a total of $311.7 million was repatriated from the USA and
10) Inclusive also was an agreement signed for another $23 million to be sent from the United States of America!

The Federal Government of Nigeria and the United States of America eventually signed an agreement for the repatriation of $23 million, being assets looted by late Head of State, General Sani Abacha.
In his remark at the signing in Abuja, the then Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, said that since the year 2016, his Ministry, the United Kingdom National Crime Agency (UK NCA), and United States Department of Justice (USDOJ) had worked closely with the legal representatives of the Federal Government to finalize litigations related to the Abacha linked assets.
But to date there is no accountability from any source to establish the judicious expenditures of the recovered sums!

THE SAME SCENARIO IS PLAYING OUT NOW IN THE TINUBU'S ADMINISTRATION!

A former Minister for Petroleum Resources Mrs.Deziani Allison-Madueke, under President Goodluck Jonathan's PDP Administration who escaped to the United Kingdom to avoid prosecution on multiple accusations of massive corruption in the Oil Sector under her purview between 2010-2015, will forfeit a sum of $50m in alleged stolen funds to Nigeria, courtesy of the United States Government! Although Deziani Alison-Madueke denied all corruption allegations since leaving office, close to $53m (£43m) in alleged illicit funds were recovered from her accounts!
Like the brokered agreement between the United States Government and Nigeria, in respect of Abacha Loots during Buhari's Tenure, THE DEZIANI LOOTS among other disbursements, will also be used to fund PUBLIC SERVICES, according to the Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi.
The money is being sent back to Nigeria from the US, whose authorities allege that Alison-Madueke enriched herself, and others, while leading Nigeria's State oil firm by awarding contracts in exchange for bribes.
According to various media reports,
the US Government also alleged that part of the looted money was used to purchase ONE 65-METRE SUPER YACHT CALLED THE GALACTICA STAR plus multiple luxury properties in California and New York!

Her alleged ill-gotten gains are also under scrutiny in the UK, where two years ago she was charged with bribery offences including gifts of Louis Vuitton luxury goods, payment of private school fees, and at least $127,000 in cash!
A key figure in the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, she also served as the first female President of the O il E xporters Group. (OPEC).

Her time as Nigeria's Minister of Petroleum Resources began in 2010 and ended in 2015. She previously served as Minister of Transport, Solid Minerals and Steel Development.
The US Department of Justice announced in 2023 the final resolution of two civil cases on the forfeiture of assets that were reportedly laundered in and through the US by Alison-Madueke and her associates. The US and Nigeria confirmed that the sum of $52.88m would be repatriated to the West African nation. This will be the first repatriation to Nigeria of assets outside the West African country linked to Alison-Madueke, according to Reuters News A agency reports. Speaking at the formal signing ceremony in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, said the return of the funds marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat corruption. Fagbemi said $50m of the money will go through the World Bank to support rural electrification projects, and THE REMAINING $2.88m WOULD BE DIRECTED TO THE INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF JUSTICE TO STRENGTHEN THE JUSTICE SYSTEM AND PROMOTE ANTI-CORRUPTION EFFORTS!

Meanwhile the US Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, has emphasised the NEED FOR ACCOUNTABILITY AS WELL AS THE CAREFUL MONITORING OF THE RETURNED FUNDS.
"The ministry of justice must guarantee that these funds are used transparently and effectively to improve the lives of Nigerians," he said.
In November 2022, the US government repatriated to Nigeria, $20.6m in assets allegedly stolen by former Nigerian military leader Gen Sani Abacha. Five years ago, Washington transferred $311.8m to the Nigerian government as part of a previous agreement to repatriate assets that traced back to the Abacha regime and yet every facet of the APC Government from 2015 to date depends on BORROWED FUNDS TO FUNCTION!

LOOTERS IN NIGERIA EVADE THE JUSTICE SYSTEM!

During President Buhari's campaign against CORRUPTION, the Federal Government released a list of some of those who have allegedly looted the nation’s treasury as follows:
In a statement issued by the then Minister for Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, claimed as follows:
“The PDP has challenged us to name the looters under their watch. They said they did not loot the treasury. Well, I am sure they know that the treasury was looted dry under their watch. Yet they decided to grandstand. This shows the hollowness of their apology,”

1) PDP Chairman Uche Secondus Allegation: On the 19th of Feb 2015, he took N200 million only from the office of the NSA.
2) Then PDP Financial Secretary Allegation: On the 24th of Oct 2014, he took N600 million only from the office of then NSA.
3) Then National Publicity Secretary Olisah Metuh on trial for allegedly collecting N1.4bn from the office of then NSA.
4) Dr Raymond Dokpesi, Chairman of DAAR Communications On trial for allegedly taking N2.1 billion from the office of then NSA.
5) Former SSA to President Jonathan, Dudafa Waripamo-Owei On trial, over N830 million allegedly kept in accounts of four different companies.
6) Former President Jonathan’s Cousin Robert Azibaola who a Federal High Court ruled had a case to answer for allegedly collecting $40 million from the office of then NSA.

The Minister boasted that the list was just a tip of the iceberg, and not a vendetta as some of them currently have cases in court.
“They are in court and the records are available. Some of the people on this list are seeking to plea bargain, and that is a fact.
“We insist that Nigeria was looted blind under the watch of the PDP and that the starting point in tendering an apology is for them to return the loot,” he said.

The Presidential system of government in Nigeria does not care or give a hoot about the sanctity of human lives especially the downtrodden but the ONE HOUSE PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM DOES! The Presidential type does not provide dividends of democracy for the masses of the people in this nation called Nigeria but definitely, the Parliamentary system does!
Difference in statistics of death toll between Tinubu and his political class who are stupendously rich and the poor masses can be compared to the distance from the Moon to the Earth! Multiple deaths occur daily through mass transportation on the roads, highways, on the rivers and the seas across Nigeria due to maladministration and corruption by government officials who award Road projects and approve processes for marine transportation to political associates instead of professionals!

Masses travails also include environmental pollution, degradation through oil exploration and exploitation, exposure to gas flaring/gas explosion hazards round the clock!
And whereas the elite class in government dwell in posh apartments drive luxurious exotic vehicles, fly in expensive private and presidential jets travel in sophisticated yachts in grandeur all year round! SUCH CLASS DISTINCTION DOES NOT EXIST IN A PARLIAMENTARY DEMOCRACY WHERE THE PRIME MINISTER SITS IN PARLIAMENT ON WEEKLY BASIS WITH OPPOSITION PARLIAMENTARIANS TO IRON OUT ELECTION PROMISES THROUGH HOT DEBATES AND ARGUMENTS!

The agitation for the change to Parliamentary system of government has not received positive response from consecutive governments from 1999 to date!

President Bola Tinubu's 2025 Budget Appropriation is all predicated on borrowings! Government will borrow to carry out Capital projects, borrow to pay salaries and allowances for the insensitive politicians who believe that once they can dole out food palliatives to the downtrodden they would keep them quiet? But to their disappointment, events of TWO mass protests within 15 Months of Tinubu's Administration have proved that masses of the people could no longer be hoodwinked! Tinubu's government also borrows to service the humongous debts that has increased to NGN135.6 TRILLION NAIRA! It is no longer in doubt that his administration has no direction!
Inflation is at an all high 34.6% foreign exchange is at NGN 1,700 naira to 1 (One) United States dollar and yet Mr. President hopes TO REDUCE BOTH TO 15% AND NGN1,500 NAIRA RESPECTFULLY! As at June 2024: Nigeria's debt-to-GDP ratio was 55%. This was based on the country's total public debt of N135.6 trillion and a trailing four quarters Gross Domestic Product (GDP), of N246.3 trillion! But the president still promised better economic growth, expanded credit opportunities and youth empowerment in 2025 during the national broadcast on Wednesday January 1! He also announced plans to establish the National Credit Guarantee Company by mid-2025 to improve access to credit.
For how long will these deceits fly?

Nigerian journalist failed to give Tinubu Hard Knocks when they confronted him alone on 23rd December 2024! Unlike the Chatham House, London interview during his campaign, Tinubu was vulnerable without his surrogates at the Maiden Media Chat to render accountability of 18 months of trial by error administration; yet the SEVEN interviewers failed to pelt him with reality questions that would expose his masquerading in office! President Tinubu also compared the stampedes with the situation at bus-stops where he said passengers would defy long queues to enter vehicles.
“Every society, even in America, they have food banks, they have hungry people. In Britain, they have food banks, they have warehouses, they are organised.
“It is unfortunate, we just have to…. It is a reflection in our bus stops where we don’t even want to be in the queue before we rush into the vehicle. It is very sad, but we will continue to learn from our mistakes,” he added.

Not everything about President Bola Tinubu is negative after all!

(1) Although he was advised by Professor Itse Sagay, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) to his predecessor in office in 2023 to suspend removal of petrol subsidy to no avail and Citizens still suffer the consequences!
(2) And also early 2024, he was advised to sack some delinquent Cabinet Ministers - he suspended some and retained one very controversial persona from the private sector and his stubbornness paid off!

(3) In spite of the hue, cry and public outrage, he stood his ground and as at now, this character is the shining star in Tinubu's Administration! His innocence was proven beyond reasonable doubt!

(4) It is no longer in contention that effective security architecture is the backbone to socio-economic progress which the Ministry of Interior must play a major role!

We affirm that Hon Tunji-Ojo, is a ministerial round peg in a round hole in view of his sound intelligence and understanding of the dynamics of and technology in advancing effective security! Although an allegation was made against him that his Private Company partook in a scandalous contract at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and collected a whooping sum of NGN438.1million naira which was classified as abuse of office, he was investigated but not sacked as demanded from many quarters!
An Opposition Party Chieftain claimed he had gathered evidence that a company owned by Minister Tunji Ojo, New Planet Project Limited, was paid a total of N438.1 million by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation under the leadership of Dr. Betta Edu, for consultancy services. This payment was part of the N3 billion awarded to several consultants for the National Social Register contract, which was intended for cash transfers and social investment programs.
He was cleared through confirmation that the Minister formally resigned ownership of the said Company in 2019 when he won election into the House of Representatives .

A critical assessment of the controversy which surrounded accusations of corruption against him early 2024, could have derailed his determination to make a difference!
BUT he remained focused with his management team to pursue:

MEDIA REPORTS ON SOME OF THE POSITIVE ACTIVITIES IN THE INTERIOR MINISTRY:

SOCIAL SECURITY OF NIGERIANS IS DEAR TO PRESIDENT TINUBU- DR. TUNJI-OJO
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has reiterated the Federal Government's dedication to providing social security and insurance to Nigerian citizens.
He said social security is very important and it is at the heart of the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's policy trust.
The Minister who made the remarks while receiving the Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Mr. Faleye Oluwaseun Mayomi in the Minister's Office in Abuja, emphasized that social security is a critical aspect of governance, serving as a bridge between the vulnerable and the strong.
The Minister commended the Management of the NSITF for its efforts in promoting social insurance and providing compensation to employees.
He acknowledged that the mandate of NSITF is wide-ranging and encouraged the agency to continue its good work. Dr. Tunji-Ojo, urged NSITF to be creative and innovative in its approach, emphasizing the need to win the confidence of the people.
He also encouraged the NSITF to explore innovative strategies to incorporate the non-formal sector workers to the formal framework taking cue from the successful model of the National Pension Commission

Reaffirming the government's commitment to social security and insurance, the Minister stressed the importance of protecting Nigerian citizens.
As the government continues to work towards creating a more equitable society, NSITF's role in providing compensation and support to employees will remain crucial.
Earlier in his address, the Managing Director of the National Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Mr.Faleye Oluwaseun Mayomi, who led a delegation to the Ministry of Interior advocated for enhanced compliance with the Employees Compensation Scheme.
He said the scheme, as mandated by law, provides compensation to employees who suffer work-related accidents or injuries.
The Managing Director emphasized the importance of advocating for the benefits of the social safety net for Nigerian workers, citing the strategic importance of the Ministry of Interior and its agencies.
He added "NSITF is responsible for managing and paying compensation and claims related to employee work-related accidents, including death benefits and medical refunds". The Managing Director noted that the visit was aimed at addressing compliance barriers between the NSITF and relevant agencies, as well as driving strategic initiatives that benefit employees and the workforce.

MINISTER OF INTERIOR INSPECTS E-VERIFICATION GATES FOR ENHANCED SECURITY, TRAVEL EXPERIENCE

As part of a comprehensive strategy to bolster internal security and streamline the arrival experience for Nigerians entering the country, the Minister of Interior, Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Monday 19th February 2024, led a delegation from the Ministry to inspect the ongoing installation of E-verification gates at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
These state-of-the-art E-verification gates are a major component of the E-Immigration project, aimed at modernizing and optimising immigration processes across Nigeria's airports.
Notably, four out of the planned 10 gates have already been installed at the Abuja airport. It is expected that the remaining six gates will be operational before the end of the month.
Expressing satisfaction with the progress made thus far, Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized the crucial role of these E-verification gates in reducing waiting times for arriving passengers.
“With an impressive clearance time of just 30 seconds per individual, the gates are set to establish a new standard for efficiency in airport processing, comparable to global benchmarks,” the Minister said.
He further stressed the transformative impact of this investment, noting that it will significantly enhance national security by providing an additional layer of scrutiny for inbound travelers.
“Through advanced biometric scanning and automated flagging systems, the gates will swiftly identify individuals of interest or those on watchlists, bolstering the efforts of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to safeguard the nation's borders,” he said.
During the inspection, Dr. Tunji-Ojo also assessed the progress of construction and installation work at the Command-and-Control Centre and border control data center, both housed within the NIS headquarters.
He commended the NIS for exceeding 70 per cent completion on these critical infrastructure projects, affirming the agency's commitment to adopting cutting-edge technology for operational efficiency and security enhancement.
The project aims to deliver a total of 40 E-verification gates across multiple airports by the end of the first quarter. These installations will include 10 gates in Abuja, 17 in Lagos, five in Kano, and four each in Enugu and Port-Harcourt.

With these transformative initiatives, Nigeria is poised to enhance border security, streamline immigration processes, and provide travelers with a safer, more efficient travel experience.

N20BN: TINUBU - ALPHA BETA EX-MD DISCUSS OUT-OF-COURT SETTLEMENT.

A former Managing Director of Alpha Beta Consulting, Dapo Apara, the All Progressives Congress leader, Bola Tinubu; and the current Managing Director of the company, Akin Doherty, have begun discussions on a possible out-of-court settlement following allegations that Tinubu ordered the transfer of over N20bn from Alpha Beta to some private business accounts.

The lawyer to the plaintiff, Mr Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), said this before the High Court of Lagos State sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square on Tuesday.

During the proceedings, Adegboruwa informed the court that the order made on November 2, 2021, for substituted service of all court processes on Tinubu had been complied with by the court bailiff.

Adegboruwa stated that the bailiff served Tinubu on November 24, 2021, at his No. 26 Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi, address through the courier service of DHL, adding that an affidavit of service had been filed by the bailiff to confirm this position.

The senior advocate then urged the court to grant more time for the parties to consolidate on their settlement talks........Justice Aishat Opesanwo subsequently adjourned the case till March 24, 2022.



In the suit filed by Adegboruwa on behalf of Apara, the former MD said Tinubu controls Alpha Beta, a tax consulting firm that has exclusive rights to monitor and generate revenue on behalf of the Lagos State Government.

Apara, who had in 2018 written a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission accusing Alpha Beta of N100bn tax fraud, asked the court to compel the firm to pay him his entitlements even as he alleged that Tinubu was the one that got him removed from his position for investigating the firm’s finances

* Section 24(a)(b)(c)(d)(e)&(f) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria are very explicit on the Citizens 'Duties to pay appropriate TAXES and also backs government to collect same as at when due; but have the later discharged IT'S FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY FAITHFULLY AND JUDICIOUSLY IN THE PAST? NO!

* However, the current bills according to Anchor Man Mr.Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Policy on Fiscal and Tax Reforms.

will address all issues in respect of MULTIPLE TAXATION in favor of the Citizens - especially the DISTRIBUTION FORMULA ADOPTED IN THE CONTROVERSIAL VALUE ADDED TAX (VAT), which the Northern States and their Governors have kicked against, because they believe that the South was more favored!



THE VAT DISTRIBUTION FORMULA.



Due to co-ordinated resistance to the new Bills, the President on 3rd October 2024 requested the National Assembly to consider and pass the tax reform bills in spite of the protests!

In the proposed tax bills, VAT revenue-sharing formula suggested is 10 percent to the federal government, 55 percent to the state, and 35 percent to the local governments.

However, the current VAT revenue-sharing formula shows that the federal government takes 15 percent, states get 50 percent and 35 percent goes to the local governments.



BUT THE ‘CONSTITUTION GRANTS RMAFC SOLE AUTHORITY TO DETERMINE VAT FORMULA’



* Currently, the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) system which empowers employers to deduct specified taxes at source of payment and remit same to government coffers WILL NOW GIVE WAY to the following order in the new arrangement in the new tax reform bills!



BUT FOR THE RECORDS - THE CURRENT PAYE SYSTEM IS AS FOLLOWS:



1. Tax exempt for annual salary earners of LESS THAN N300, 000 naira.

2. Those who earn N300, 000 pay tax of N21, 000 naira which amounts to 7% of their take home pay.

3. Salary earners within the range of N300, 000 to N600, 000, pay a total N54, 000 naira which amount to 18% deduction.

5. Incomes within N600, 000 and N1.1 million, pay a total of N129, 000 naira.

6. Workers who earn between N1.1 million naira and N2.7 million naira are paying a total of N465, 000.

7. Those in category of more than N3.2 million annually pay N465,000 naira on the N3.2 million naira and 24% of any amount above it.



TAXES OF THE NEW ORDER - IF IT GOES THROUGH WILL BE AS FOLLOWS.



1. Annual salary of N800, 000 naira is tax exempt.

2. Earnings between N800, 000 and N3 million naira will attract 15% tax deduction on only N2.2 million.

3. Salary earners of between N12 - 25 million naira will pay a total tax of N4, 680,000 naira.



4. Workers who earn between N25 - 50 million naira annually will pay N10, 430,000 naira as tax deductions.

5. Those who earn above N50 million will pay the same tax on N50 million as stated in No.4 and 25% on the excess.

THE TIMING OF THE TAX REFORM BILL 2024 JUST AS PREVIOUS DINUBA’S SPONTANEOUS - REMOVAL OF SUBSIDY, ETC. IS VERY UNREASONABLE!

Anchor Borrowers' Programme (ABP) is a program in Nigeria that connects smallholder farmers with companies that process and produce agricultural commodities. The program's goal is to increase agricultural production, stabilize the supply of inputs to agro-processors, and address the country's food balance of payments.

THE PROCEDURE.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) lends money to anchor companies at a one digit 9% annual interest rate. The anchor companies then distribute the loans to smallholder farmers.
The farmers use the loans to purchase farm inputs, such as fertilizer, water pumps, seedlings, and farm equipment. The farmers use the inputs to produce agricultural commodities.
When the crops are harvested, the farmers sell them to the anchor companies.
The anchor companies pay the farmers for their produce.

It is believed that the program can help smallholder farmers increase their agricultural production.
Can help stabilize the supply of inputs to agro-processors and address Nigeria's negative food balance of payments.

* CORRUPTION: ICPC seizes N16bn from Ministry of Agriculture according to
ICPC Chairman Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye - Premium Times 28th September, 2020
1. The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) recovered N16 billion from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture in 2020! The money was moved under suspicious circumstances below the threshold that would put it within the purview of the Accountant-General of the Federation.
He said that the ministry moved the money into an offline account in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) where utilization would be outside the monitoring purview of Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS)
According to Owasanye, some of the recovered funds were paid into personal accounts, while others were used for non-official purposes.
Owasanye added that the commission discovered that payments were made to agriculture contractors for no job done or overpayment for jobs done and that some were appropriated to projects owned by private farms of senior civil servants of the ministry.
“One individual from the ministry now deceased, was said to have appropriated over N2.5b to himself and cronies,” he further disclosed!
2. Another Premium Times Report of November 26, 2020 exposed how the Agriculture Ministry made N3.08BN suspicious payments to personal accounts.
According to the news paper, the ministry used duplicated “vague payments” to share N3.08 billions to officials in what was a clear breach of the country's financial regulation.
In a series of disbursements between September and December 2020, a total of N3.08 billion was paid into the private accounts of 42 staffers of the ministry!
The payments were reported by the Open Treasury Portal (OTP), the federal government’s transparency portal launched in 2019 to ensure fiscal discipline among MDAs.

IT IS "TREASONABLE" FOR MR. PRESIDENT TO HIDE SUBSIDY SAVINGS - YES OR NO?

Purposeful world leaders regularly sought for external financial loans to back up Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for strategic capital project infrastructures and human capacity development and it has been proven that such wise investments had yielded multiple dividends within very short periods to offset shortfalls!
But in Nigeria loans are acquired to fulfill CONCURRENT EXPENDITURE ie, salaries /allowances of government officials in the THREE TIERS and for "ARRANGEE" DUBIOUS CONTRACTS!
And in spite of the unworkable attempts by the President's ANALOGUE ECONOMIC TEAM to alleviate massive sufferings of Nigerians in 18 months the ANCHOR MAN INTENSIFIED OVERSEAS TRIPS TO BORROW MORE MONEY!

IN CELEBRATION OF HIS 30TH FOREIGN TRIP IN OFFICE, the President took his wife along with privileged politicians and civil servants to Brazil to attend the G 20 SUMMIT of which Nigeria was not a member and as usual canvassed for FOREIGN AIDS FOR NIGERIA AND AFRICA!
It took the Nigerian Senate only 48 hours to approve the ₦1.77 trillion ($2.2b) loan request of President Bola Tinubu after a voice vote in favor of the request on Tuesday 19th November 2024 plenary
presided over by Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin because of anxiety for illicit gains through BUDGET PADDING!

AND WHEREAS PRESIDENT TINUBU WAS YET TO PRESENT THE 2025 ANNUAL BUDGET APPROPRIATION!
The N1.77 trillion was part of a fresh external borrowing plan to partially finance the N9.7 trillion BUDGET DEFICIT FOR THE 2024 FISCAL YEAR following recommendations from the Committee on Local and Foreign Debts!
President Tinubu had written to the National Assembly, seeking approval of a fresh N1.767 trillion, the equivalent of $2.209 billion as a new external borrowing plan in the 2024 Appropriation Act in order to ease the amount spent on debt servicing by the Federal Government.
In comparative analysis, foreign debt servicing costs had always "exceeded" monthly expenditures by almost 400% since January 2023 and slightly declining intermittently from then to September 2024.

Economic observers have raised concerns that the recent astronomical increase in Nigeria's foreign debts could lead to further depression of the economy since government's prodigality and debt serving ratios gulp largest portion of annual budgets!

NIGERIA'S TOTAL DEBT PROFILE!

As of March 31, 2024, Nigeria's total public debt was ₦121.67 trillion ($91.46 billion), which includes both domestic and external debt:
Domestic debt: ₦65.65 trillion ($49.35 billion)

The government and the Debt Management Office (DMO) are working to address the country's rising debt.

WHAT IS LOAN SERVICING?

Loan servicing refers to the administrative aspects of a loan from the time the proceeds are dispersed to the borrower until the loan is paid off. Loan servicing includes sending monthly payment statements, collecting monthly payments, maintaining records of payments and balances, collecting and paying taxes and insurance (and managing escrow funds), remitting funds to the note holder, and following up on any delinquent borrower.

At least, not all news about the incumbent President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is negative!
We are told that he still cared about the over 140 million multi-dimensionally poverty-stricken population many of whom his misguided authoritarian policy decisions of 29th May 2023, have sent to early graves!

According to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu who boasted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was his bosom friend, the Commander-in-Chief frequently kept night vigils on Abuja Streets to evaluate the economic and security conditions of the afflicted suffering masses!
This "Secret" was leaked by none other than Mr. President’s bosom friend
during an October Talk Show on Channels Television, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who also opined that economic hardship was not peculiar to Nigeria as the impact of COVID-19 was still affecting economies globally. The lawmaker is representing Abia North in the National Assembly. He also said that the President would fix the economy which he admitted was BATTERED in order to ameliorate the hardship and pains of Nigerians.
"He is a street person; he knows the street very well. The president some nights uses his car to go around and know what is happening in Abuja here,” he added with much gusto!

In the process of the interview, the Senator also disclosed that he earned a monthly stipend of N14 million which was insufficient to cater for overhead and workers salaries because he also had to purchased fuel to travel to his constituency!
