FamilyRe: I Spent 30m To Send Her To The UK Now She Wants Divorce: Nigerian Man Seeks Help by zanshi: 11:57pm On Jun 22, 2025
Na mumu dey take woman go abroad, don't do it. Sounds like an innocent idea but Nigerian women don't respect gratitude, my dad helped a guy who was newly married to get his first good paying job back in the early 2000s, he later travelled abroad and was hustling hard before he could find his footing, years after he send my dad a year 2000 tundra which we use till today. Men know how to show gratitude to an extent than even woman go dey cap say is it not too much?

Help a man today, you never can tell!

This is what happens when a man leaves his wife back home to work in a different location far from home... I'm very sure that if we were to conduct DNA tests on the children of these men, chances are some of their children aren't biologically theirs.
Man comot go find daily bread make everybody guide yall still finding way to blame him and the woman should not be held accountable

Get a girlfriend pregnant and move on, settling down is a scam and most married men with kids are never really settled. You are lucky to be single and have no k8d at 3 and you dont know what you have until you lise it. Most married people in Nigeria are suffering and smiling and, will always lie about their experiences. Do not fall for it.
No be lie bro na why most of them dey bald quick and greyy so fast!

As a single man you have so much time to plan your life save money like a ba$tard and take dangerous business risk that if it pays off, you are set.

As a man you can't afford to take some kind risk cos the bills keep pilling every now and then.

But bros, we have men right in this thread who say they aren't interested in women's money meanwhile we have men who say women must also be earners and contributors. So, which is which?

As for the bold, well, it plays alongside for both genders and why everybody dey guard themselves. Both genders now know too much.
It isn't news that most relationship/marriage breaks down mainly due to financial stress, a woman who is in the work force, self employed or works for and office/org who earns money legitimately ought to know the stress that comes with making money and appreciating the value that comes with each paycheck, so that in itself checks out greed, so even if the man is out earning the lady but a decent amount, he isn't worried about her own money, but to checkmate greed spurred by unabated consumerism. If you look at the dynamic of every talking stage out there, to be able to virtue signal you are capable enough, you need to go a spending spree, but this, buy and none towards buying an asset, and to make matters worse none of this is refundable if the relationship hits a brick wall.

The idea of 50/50 in the west may come as a culture shock to Nigerians, this is because any woman who is of earning capacity and wants to build a relationship till the end of time, she has to invest monetarily in the relationship, and to make matters worse, the gloablist has pushed everyone to the workforce and dismantled this 60s utopia of a stay a home trad wife execpt you a filthy rich and can afford it.

1. How can this advice be said to come from a place of love when, in your previous comment,t you pointed out that such women were considered liabilities by men who would rather not have anything to do with them? Are you sure you are OK at all? 🙄🙄🙄🙄

2. What in the world is this rambling for, abeg! Thanks to science and technology— surrogacy, IVF, Fibroid treatment, egg freezing, sperm banks, etc., women are now able to have babies even into their 60s(or beyond)if they choose to. 🙄🙄

Why is it difficult to expect anything in the way of a sensible response when your very own comments are questioned? 🙄🙄🙄

These men do not want women from poor backgrounds. Yet, when these women decide to forgo relationships altogether to raise their financial status so they can become more desirable, these same set of men rail against them doing so, as you can see from the many comments on this thread alone, encouraging poor women to get pregnant before chasing their interests. undecided

2. Can we safely conclude that many of these men here demanding women have children before tackling their financial disabilities are dolts? undecided
When men advise as brutish as may sound it comes from a place of love, for women they would berate you with the way you deliver the truth because even though they acknowledge that it may be right their emotions wouldn't allow them see throuht that.

Men and Women have 2 different realities when it comes to relationship and expectations to, if a woman chooses not to take the 19-29 year window of her fertile life to date, settle down and procreate, it comes with damming conceuqences that may affect 2/4 women, you don't hear men screaming blue murder about "independece'' when they have an egalitarian mindeset to gather resources and share with their friends and their household and it is only getting more pronouced from women because if i am independent i can alienate from society and choose to live life on my own terms, how selfish.

In today's world where most men are unreliable, unstable and struggling to survive it makes sense to me if a lady insists on being financially stable before having kids as long as she has not seen a wealthy, financially stable suitor yet. But once she has suitor who is already wealthy it no longer makes sense to me for her to insist on being financially stable before having kids.

Who says you can't pursue your dreams after having kids or even while being pregnant?
Even guys who are financially stable don't want women who don't have nothing doing or come from very poor backgrounds.

Seems you don't how irritably classist Nigerian women can be, people wey fit look you head to toe, cap you say i don't talk to guys who use android or i can't talk to you if you don't have this and that meanwhile, her papa no guide or even she and her brothers no guide.

Men who have put in the effort know that these babes are a walking liability and this in turn is going to affect dating prospects of a lot of women because modern day men dangerously know too much nowadays aren't willing to put up with rubbish unlike their fathers generation.

Why are we lying to ourselves that two people can stay in love for the entirety of their lives? It's ridiculous.
All the stats support the reality that marriage, unless artificially enforced, just isn't appealing to people past like 5 years or so, on average.
I wonder if people are going to figure out how to raise kids without marriage and just see who they want to see. I think it'd be healthier in the long run.

Last week my gf threatened to break up with me because i don't have plans of marrying her even tho I love you , why do women like complicating matters
Marriage even go far, even staying with a woman long term fit bleed you mentally, physically, financially.

Seen a situation along Ijebu Ore road where a Baale' told me that some Fulani came to his community to grant them access to graze and he told them ''No'' because there are a lot of farmers in his community and they are afraid there may be a clash of intrest.

nedekid:
Big mistake, but atleast he is alive and life goes on. As for my guy, when naija started getting tough for him, he sold his shop he owned in a complex, sold his suv, took the money to apply for visavisa for his family. This was ending of Obama period when US was issuing visa to anyone that applied as family ohh. The guy got the visa. Note also his rent had expired tay tay, but he decided to use the money to fund the japa planing they will leave the country.
Anyway all the money went in funding the visa at Abuja embassy all the way from Lagos.
Long and short the money remaining was for ticket. Na there my guy made mistake. Since money no reach madam convinced to allow her go first and that after working she will send money for him and the kids to come. Na so she japa. Fresh fine yellow woman. After some time I no longer saw the kids, on asking my guy said his wife came and flew with the kids say when she raises more money she will get him ticket to come. Omo, that was how the years started going. I don't know what he said happened ohh, but he said he got a call from the embassy that his visa was cancelled but I think it expired. Na so this guy stayed, no house, was patching with friends, staying in church etc, a guy that had money before. That was how health challenges started, diabetic complications, high blood pressure, swollen feet etc, no one to care for him. He will call me, I will send him money. The last one he called that he was sick, I sent, few days later he called I sent, he called shortly again that he was in the hostital and if I saw him I will not recognise him. I felt he was taking advantage of me and ignored his calls and WhatsApp messages, that was my big regret because I got a call he was dead!
His wife and kids did not show up(likely because of cost or no documents). Infact I heard she had filled for divorce long before his death as she had moved on with her life in the US along with his kids and that put a lot of stress on him.
Man J (1969-2023), continue to rest in peace.
In summary, japa separately works for some peoole, but it is advisable for the family to go at once or worst, you the man should go and then bring your family. Some will argue that family should stay in naija while the man hustles abroad.
The sacrifices man go take for this life make everybody guide, emphasis on everybody oo, woman no fit take am.

Men are getting dangerously informed now as nobody wan carry last. Tomorrow, another woman go talk say she wan go, go where sit down my friend.

Hello Nairaland!
I'm reaching out for your honest advice:
Today, I woke up feeling overwhelmed by the uncertainties of life as a father, with a 9-5 job that doesn't pay much. I've struggled to make ends meet. I have no savings to fall back on, and the pressure is mounting now that I'm married with a new baby. My salary of 300k is quickly depleted by responsibilities and debt.

Could you offer some guidance on how to improve my financial situation? What skills can I learn or what steps can I take to increase my earnings, considering I don't have any savings to rely on?

Thanks!!!!
