scipher: during the deportation saga, the comments I read on sowetan-live.co.za gave out a perfect image of your psyches.. however, only the ones(SAns) who admitted travelling out of your crime ridden country had the following to say:

1. Apartheid caused miserable damage to us, and we must look inwards and re-orientate ourselves.

2 . Nigeria has competitors to all south African companies (after some dumbo demanded mtn be taken away )lol

3. We (south Africa) have one of the highest crime rate in the world plus violence against women and many of us don't know this

4. We're still young in international politics which Nigeria has mastered

Now, Sweetcheeks .. if we choose to post those dirty crime news about SA (from news24) on this platform, our server will go down. I visit that site daily, and the crime stories are mind boggling.

Enough with the Nigeria this, and 'what what'. You're not any better.. you're just one of dem ignorant foools
Isn't it Nigerians who always open these threads, I don't think any foreigners ever opens a thread to diss nigeria. Anyways it'll be nice to compare the violence and crimes between the countries..

Kei144: If you have ever lived in Southern Africa, you will not be surprised at all. Southern Africans are ingrates. It is not in their culture to be grateful at all. If you are giving them help, right there where you are helping them, they begin to ask for more; they will never appreciate what they have already received. Once you come to the end of helping them, they could treat you like an enemy. That is why non-Africans hate them so much. Unfortunately, non-Africans who are used to them think that all Africans are like them.
You are shitt-ing in your pants son, lmaooo. Is there a country or region more hated than nigeria? This is the first time I hear that southern africans are hated by non-africans, maybe an example would be nice. I can give you many for nigeria.

Something positive for naai-geria...

I am beginning to think South Africans are not creative! Had mandela been a Nigerian, 1. The corpse will stay in mortuary for five years to enable government prepare for befitting burial. 2. Government will setup a planning committee with power to award contracts to construct new roads leading to mandela's hometown. Construction of new airports, new stadium for burial reception. 3. The body will fly round the 36 states of the federation including the FCT. 4. There will be national aso ebi (uniform) imported from holland, it will be made compulsory for every Nigerian to buy, sew and wear. 5. New slang will emerge, for instance Yoruba greeting will start e ku madiba o, or eku iku mandela. 6. Our network will produce new caller tunes e.g to hear mandela's last breath press 1. To hear the last word he spoke press 2. E.t.c 7. New products will emerge e.g Madiba zobo drink. Madiba pure water, madiba magic soap/cream. 8. Our musicianshuh? Aaaah 5 albums daily to praise the icon. 9. New born babies will be called Mandela. 10,The igbo man will start producing madiba t- shet, madiba face cap, madiba almanac, 11,All network subscribers will be charge us madiba ringback tone of #50, 12,Police will be asking motories & all suspect 'oya madiba roga'#50 #50 abi you know say we go do burial for mandela? 13,Igbo man will force every child born to.name mandela with there parent pay 50k for each naming, 14,Nff will organise madiba match with super eagle and Brazil, 15,Silverbird will organised mr mandela pargent, m 16,Madiba ticket to watch senima, or 17,The christain will organise mandela night of last glory, 18,The musician/comedia will organize all madiba stars show gate fee 20000, vip 200,000, vvip 500,000, 19,All the next contract awarded will call madiba for tranfomation contract, The youth will organise madibas nite award, 20,All 36 state governor will host madiba lying in state, @ the end $49 billion will be spent on mandela burial ceremony, we will be told they host world leaders like obama, bush, ban kimo & 200 head of state, Thank god mandela "madiba" is not a nigerian

@all4cannibals

I told you that i'll no longer read any of your long repetitive jungle noise.

meanwhile, look at what i got from Google news for Nigeria. I wonder how many of these people were cannibalized...

Sectarian Violence Goes Unaddressed in Nigeria
15 December 2013 , Source: IRIN
Dakar

The deaths of more than 3,000 victims of sectarian violence in central Nigeria since 2010 have largely been ignored by the government, Human Rights Watch (HRW) said in a report released on 12 December, Turning a Blind Eye to Mass Killings.

HRW documented "horrific" acts of inter-communal violence between Muslims and Christians in Plateau and Kaduna states - two of the worst-affected areas. More than 10,000 people have been killed in these states since 1992 in ongoing periods of violence, because of their ethnic or religious identity.

HRW's investigations into these crimes have concluded the Nigerian authorities have failed to break the cycle of violence and have rarely brought the perpetrators to justice.

The violence, which has continued for years, precedes the Boko Haram violence in northeastern Nigeria; though in some cases Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for inter-communal attacks in Plateau and Kaduna states. Ongoing attacks by Boko Haram also risk further inflaming inter-ethnic or sectarian violence in the north, say analysts.

Eric Guttschuss, a Nigeria researcher in HRW's Africa division and author of the report, said the government's failure to investigate the mass killings and ethnic violence and its inability to hold perpetrators to account have further fueled violence in the region.

"In the absence of effective remedies through the formal criminal justice system, members of the aggrieved communities have taken the law into their own hands and frequently taken out revenge killings in communities that have suffered violence in the past," he said.

Prosecutions rare Guttschuss said that following incidents of mass violence, the military will typically make hundreds of arrests. But only in rare cases have these arrests led to prosecution or conviction.

"One of the reasons is that the police or the military will randomly round up anyone they find at the scene of the crime and them lump them all together and charge them before a magistrate court," he said.

"The problem is, once these case files are handed over to the prosecutors, it's nearly impossible for prosecutes to link individuals with specific offenses because the arresting officer doesn't know where he arrested each individual; he cannot link each weapon [seized at the time of arrest] to an individual."

This means that, more often than not, the majority of these cases are dropped and no charges are made.

Despite more than two decades of sectarian violence and mass killings, it wasn't until 2010 that the federal attorney general finally attempted to prosecute suspects from religious clashes, which left more than 1,000 people dead earlier that year, according to HRW. State prosecutors have successfully secured a few convictions since then, but the majority of suspects are never prosecuted, or
arrested.

Guttschuss said it has reached the point where many people no longer even report crimes.

"In some cases, the eyewitnesses to murder that we interviewed said they hadn't gone to the police, sometimes citing fear, but more often saying they didn't believe the police would do anything, even if they reported the case," he said.

There is even a campaign to end cannibalism across Nigeria, it's that serious.
bashr8: We need legislation to eradicate rituals, cannibalism - Erelu Lola Ayonrinde -Raises posers on Oba Funso Adeolu’s corpse

Erelu Tunwase AyonrindeErelu Tunwase of Ode-Remo, Chief Lola Ayonrinde, who is the Otun Iyalode of Shomolu and Lagos District, and also the Yeye Akinrogun of Ikeji-Ile Ijesa was twice Mayor of the London Borough of Wandsworth. She talks to AYO-LAWAL GBENOBA on her campaign against human sacrifice and cannibalism in south west Nigeria. Excerpts:

WHAT is your campaign all about?
The ‘Say No To Cannibalism In Nigeria’ campaign is aimed towards eradicating the ancient and obnoxious practice of mutilating the bodies of traditional rulers after death. The rituals and sacrifices parts of the body of a dead king, especially in Western Nigeria, are used for are barbaric and a disgrace to the country in this 21st century. The movement is out to stop these evil practices which are not in consonant with the will of God and against the fundamental human rights of the affected traditional rulers. When a king dies, they say they have to give his heart to his successor on the throne to eat. They explained that it will make the new king strong and courageous but, is that not deceit? How can eating somebody’s flesh give courage to another person? They mutilate the remains of these kings and engage in fetish and obnoxious activities which add no value to anybody or the society in general.

Why do you need to feed an incoming royal father with the heart of a dead one? This cannibalism started with Christopher Colombus who believed that when a king ate the heart, or some other parts of a dead ruler, some major attributes of the dead was transferred to the new king. This is sheer cannibalism and has no place with God. And, I want the chiefs, the traditional rulers themselves and other stakeholders to know that any tradition that does not recognise God is doomed. The government must put a stop to this cannibalism going on in some parts of Nigeria because, it is even against the constitution of Nigeria. Section 38 subsection 1 of the Nigerian constitution gives every citizen the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion, while section 17 subsection 26 declares that the sanctity of the human person shall be recognised and human dignity shall be maintained and enhanced. Where is the sanctity of the human person in all these? Where is human dignity?

What motivated this campaign?
I was very close to the late Alaye of Ode-Remo, Oba Funso Adeolu, the popular Chief Eleyinmi of the rested Village Headmaster soap opera. Few months after his death on August 21, 2008, he started appearing to me and I had months of traumatic haunting. In his lifetime, Oba Adeolu was a Christian and he made it known that he did not partake in anything fetish during his installation as king. He explicitly, several times, demanded that when death came calling, his corpse should be handed over to his family so that he could be given a proper Christian burial. However, his corpse was not released to the family. After his death, he appeared to me several times, and kept telling me about many things. He said his corpse was handed over to the ‘odis’ (slaves) who treated it like that of a criminal. They took bits and pieces of his remains for their own use while some parts were distributed to the four corners of the town.

It was while going round that I discovered what happened and I met some chiefs who confessed what happened but asked me to forget it because there was nothing we could do about it.

All the ‘odus’ of Ifa do not approve using human beings as sacrifice, the constitution does not approve and to crown it all, God Almighty frowns at this practice, they are doing it to appease whom? Some of the kings today are enlightened and those who are born again Christians, like Oba Adeolu, are renouncing these things. So, why hold on to an obnoxious and barbaric act? Oba Adeolu believed he would be given a decent burial and that is why his ghost has refused to rest. Even in Ijebuland, these things were abolished years ago and Ijebuland under the Awujale agreed they would bury kings according to their religion.

So, how do you hope to stop the practice?
We are canvassing that our traditional rulers should be buried whole, without being mutilated and it should be in the open. There is secrecy because of the evils attached. It is untenable scientifically that the heart is eaten for so and so reasons. To start with, let us have the installation of kings in the open, no aspect of the installation should be shrouded in secrecy. It should be a celebration of our culture so, why should it be shrouded in secrecy? When everything becomes transparent, it will even help younger ones to know more about our culture and we will be able to restore some of our societal values. Why should obas be laid to rest in a paganic manner? If a governor gives staff of office to a king, giving him recognition and authority, that king is under the governor so, why should the government condone barbarism in this age? The ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs should do something about this, if not, the government is endorsing cannibalism. True that some of the kings went through these rituals during installation but those who opted out should be given that grace of opting out of the rituals in death. They should be buried according to their faith. The practice is a disgrace to the whole of South West because it is common there.

We are appealing to the traditional rulers who were installed through cannibalism to renounce it publicly and declare they don’t want their hearts to be eaten or other parts of their bodies to be used for any form of ritual. Abolition of slave trade took place years ago. So, why do we still have some people in Ode calling themselves slaves (‘odis’)? We need legislation to stop the barbaric act and we are appealing to our lawmakers to rise up to this task of eradicating cannibalism in Nigeria. There should be a law backing a king to opt out of fetish installation and burial and it should become an offence for anyone to tamper with the remains of a king, for whatever purpose, or to give the body to the ‘odi’ for rituals. The penalty should be without an option of fine so that the perpetrators would know how grave the offence is. The ‘odi’ in Ode can be given money to buy goat, ram, cow, or whatever they need for sacrifice, if they must, but there must be total abolition of human sacrifice in the country. Efforts are being made by some Ogun State traditional rulers to stop it but some feel the fetish practice must be protected. The government must detach itself from it.

Internationally, human sacrifice, cannibalism, witchcraft and sorcery are illegal so, why should it be done with impunity in Nigeria, a country that is known as the giant of Africa? Infact, politicians should begin to include the abolition of cannibalism in their campaign programmes, and party manifestos by 2010.

What efforts have you made so far to network and get people involved?
We give glory to Almighty God. I have spoken to so many kings who secretly don’t want it and we are telling them that they should make an open declaration against these evil practices. The campaign would be boosted if they do because people believe they all knew and agreed to these evil practices before being installed. We now call on the royal fathers again, in the name of Almighty God, to declare publicly that they don’t want these fetish practices to continue. I have carried the campaign to the international level so that Nigerians of affluence who are in diaspora would lobby the lawmakers and get a legal backing for the campaign to eradicate human sacrifice and cannibalism in Nigeria. A number of international media like the BBC have aired my interview on the campaign and some Nigerian people abroad are involved in the lobbying for a legislation to stop the obnoxious practices.

We call on the ‘oluwos’ and ‘odis’ in Ode to review the entrenched ill that has no value to the society. We appeal to them to accept cows and goats and allow our royal fathers to be buried according to their beliefs. Then, it was about time that the royal fathers are constituted into the House of Royals, like the House of Lords, so that they would have more power, say and patnership in governance. This would help them to contribute meaningfully to issues affecting them and the society at large.

Nor were these fears groundless. Cannibalism, human sacrifices and other savage customs were real facts, and flourished within five miles of the outskirts of Onitsha, and no one would dare swear that the inhabitants of even that town were all entirely innocent !

pg 37
…It was in close proximity to this place that, as was well known, a cannibal feast had lately been held. Amongst our lads there was a small boy whose father had been a servant to the Niger Company. Whilst carrying a message to Obushi, the father was murdered and his body disposed of according to time-honoured custom.
On one occasion I was resting outside my hut when a man of unprepossessing appearance came along and entered into conversation. His eldest son, then a small lad, had been placed by his father in the care of a mis-sionary, in order that he might receive instruction. In the course of his remarks he solemnly asserted that it would be of great benefit to his son if he were provided with human flesh sometimes as part of his diet. He maintained that, if this were done, a proper man's spirit would develop in the lad. Towards the south, cannibal tendencies assumed a worse aspect. All that has been said hitherto relates to the prevalent custom of feasting upon captives taken in war. In the southern districts a regular traffic in human flesh was carried on. Strangers were caught, or slaves purchased, with the deliberate intention of converting them into food. Human flesh was a marketable commodity, and a common article of diet. It is not long since a certain chief managed to get possession of one of his opponents against whom he had a grudge of long standing. He derived satisfaction from first lopping off the captive's ears and nose, and then flaying him alive.

The carcass was eaten and the skin converted into a drumhead. There is not a shadow of doubt that, could the history of the Ibo country be clearly traced, a host of suchlike stories would have to be recorded. I have become acquainted with many erstwhile cannibals, and quite goodnatured folk most of them are. One week-end I was staying at a town a few miles S.E. of Onitsha. My quarters were very circumscribed, the only accommodation available being a tiny thatched lean-to shed against the compound wall, usually occupied by the goats and fowls. My boys and carriers shared the limited accomodation, lying at night alongside the camp-bed. After the evening meal, we settled down for the night, long before our customary bedtime; consequently the men chattered freely. Presently I became interested in the conversation, and amongst other items of news, gathered that they had all had a share in cannibal feasts.

Yesterday, I was driving through Yeoville in Johannesburg when I glimpsed a sign through the glass windows of a hotel lobby (Safari Hotel) which boldly advised visitors thus: "This is to inform the public that Nigerian Nationals are not allowed in this hotel." I took offence with my South African companions and began to immediately wonder what sort of madness and discrimination I had just witnessed. Simple logic after all, demands that You cannot profile a group of people (in this case, all Nigerians) as a criminals, pimps and fraudsters.

Anyway, still seething with rage, I took a solid reflection of Nigerians’ situation in this city when I again, dashed through the streets of Hillbrow and Central Business District of Johannesburg. I couldn’t help but marvel at how the activities of Nigerians, mostly, had reshaped the landscape of this city. Images of a typical central Lagos pervades here: Petty traders hawking alongside heaps of refuse; drug dealers pedaling their illicit trade, prostitutes and their pimps and general organized chaos.

The deep, baritone accent of the Nigerian English easily gives these perpetrators away.

Added to that, they are loud, brazen and shameless in deprecating the city in promoting their trades; and in the process, discomforting the very people that had welcomed them into their land.

I am in full agreement that the insanity of the Johannesburg city centre cannot be blamed entirely on Nigerians. But please bear with me.

This article is about Nigerians and their preference for a squalid existence in a foreign land rather than staying home for a more productive life. Nigerians will raise travel funds (flight tickets, accommodation, food, visa, etc), an amount sizeable to establish a reasonable small scale business, and use it to sojourn in foreign lands doing petty things they’d never dream about. If you looked closely, you would see that the culprits are mostly dregs from the lower rungs of the Nigerian society. They are largely unskilled and found their way to South Africa with only the clothes on their backs. They have now become a menace to the society that harbors them.

These Nigerians are now South Africa’s problems because their own nation would rather fete and defend criminal elements in the political class rather address the serious socio-economic challenges that drive Nigerians from their homelands. They would prefer instead to live in the squalor of Johannesburg.

As much as I wonder at the choices people sometimes make in deciding their futures, I will typically blame the Nigerian government for letting down these fragile set of people.

They couldn’t find the security they needed at home so they sojourned abroad only to live an existence that they should rightly be ashamed of. They do not trust their own government to protect and provide for them.

And really, how can anyone in his right mind trust a government that celebrates mediocrity and criminality. A government that is content to leave its citizens to the wimps of foreign countries because it had conveniently absconded from its role.

As we speak, the mess that is the Nigerian government continues to unfold. I awoke this morning to news of the Presidential pardon for a group of VIP criminals in Nigeria. It was a decision as much shameful as it is reckless in its recommendations. I see no basis for this latest government indiscretion to pardon people who pillaged our commonwealth and mortgaged the future of our sons and daughters. A pardon for People who’s various acts of disservice is the very reason many of us are languishing in foreign lands because there is nothing credible to come back to.

The arrogance of our political leadership certainly has no limit and their mindlessness is a calamity which final chapters are yet to be written. They are so shameless, even shame has lost its meaning. Nigeria will surely not find salvation with these crop of political leaders.

Sometimes it seems, you don’t need too many reasons to hate Nigeria and I feel so hateful towards my country right now.
