In Mark 9: 43-49, Jesus Christ speaks of the hell "where their worm dieth not and the fire is not quenched." - a picture language that should not be taken literally as it refers to the valley of gehenna, a valley in the outskirts of Jerusalem where the Jews used to sacrifice their sons and daughters to the god molech. This practice was later stopped at the time of King Josiah and the place turned into a public incinerator. - 2 Chronicles 33: 1-6; 2 Kings 23:10; Jeremiah 7: 30,31. Please see the declaration of King David in Psalm 83: 15-18: "O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind. As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire; So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm. Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD. Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish: That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth."
