"The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing."

Introduction:
Brothers and sisters in Christ. Today, we gather to reflect on the promises of God as revealed in Psalm 34:10. This verse is a powerful reminder of God's faithfulness and provision for those who seek Him. In a world filled with uncertainty, fear, and lack, this scripture invites us to anchor our hearts in the truth that God is our ultimate provider. Let us explore what it means to "lack no good thing" and how we can live in the confidence of God's provision.

1. The Contrast: Lions vs. Seekers of God
The psalmist begins by drawing a striking contrast: "The lions may grow weak and hungry..." Lions are often seen as symbols of strength, power, and self-sufficiency. Yet, even these mighty creatures experience weakness and hunger. No matter how strong, resourceful, or independent we may think we are, there will come moments when we face limitations, when our own strength fails us.

But the verse doesn’t end there. It continues with a profound promise: "...but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing." Here, the psalmist shifts our focus from self-reliance to God-reliance. Those who seek the Lord are not exempt from challenges, but they are assured of God's provision in the midst of them. The difference lies not in the absence of need but in the presence of a faithful God who meets every need according to His riches and timing.
2. What Does It Mean to Seek the Lord?
To "seek the Lord" is more than a casual glance in God's direction. It is an active, intentional pursuit of His presence, His will, and His ways. Seeking the Lord involves:
- Prayer: Communicating with God, sharing our hearts, and listening for His voice.
- Worship: Acknowledging His greatness and surrendering our lives to His authority.

3. Lacking No Good Thing
The promise that we will "lack no good thing" is not a guarantee of a life free from hardship or want. Rather, it is an assurance that God will provide everything we need to fulfill His purposes for our lives. The "good things" He gives are not always material possessions or worldly success. They include:
- Peace: The inner calm that comes from knowing God is in control.
- Joy: A deep sense of contentment that transcends circumstances.

4. Trusting God in Times of Lack
There will be moments in life when it feels like we are lacking. Perhaps it’s a financial struggle, a health crisis, or a season of loneliness. When we truly believe that we lack no good thing, it changes how we live. We become people of gratitude, recognizing God’s hand in every blessing. We also become people of generosity, sharing what we have with others because we trust that God will continue to provide.

Gratitude and generosity are tangible expressions of our faith in God’s provision. They remind us that everything we have is a gift from Him, and they testify to His goodness in a world that often feels lacking.

Psalm 34:10 is a call to trust in the Lord’s provision. It challenges us to shift our focus from our own limitations to God’s limitless power and love. As we seek Him, we will discover that He is faithful to provide everything we need—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

"For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain."

He couldn’t bear not knowing how they were doing spiritually. His fear was that the tempter (Satan) might have tempted them, causing their faith to waver and his labor among them to be in vain. 1. The Concern for Faith (The Heart of a Shepherd)

Paul’s primary concern was the faith of the Thessalonians. He had invested time, energy, and love into teaching and nurturing them in the Gospel. Now, separated from them, he was anxious to know if their faith remained strong.

Application: As believers, we must care deeply for one another’s spiritual well-being. Are we checking in on our brothers and sisters in Christ? Are we praying for their faith to remain steadfast? Paul’s example reminds us that faith is not just a personal matter—it’s a communal responsibility.

2. The Reality of the Tempter (The Enemy’s Schemes)

Are we living in a way that honors the labor of those who have discipled us? Are we ensuring that their efforts are not in vain by remaining steadfast in our faith?

4. The Call to Perseverance (Standing Firm in Faith)
Paul’s solution was to send Timothy to strengthen and encourage the Thessalonians in their faith. This reminds us that we need each other to persevere.

Application: We are not meant to walk this journey alone. We need the encouragement of fellow believers, the guidance of God’s Word, and the power of prayer to stand firm. Are we actively seeking support when we feel weak? Are we offering encouragement to others who may be struggling?
