Hmmmm. Almost there, you could had got yourself a Camry or accord 08/09. But the cash you have to purchase a tokumbo unit is low. But that said, that amount could easily get a registered unit.

Cant spend that much on a naija used car hence the reason I mentioned order from USA. Also, muscle and evil spirit are out of the equation.

It all depends on your budget. Gimme a figure, I'd tell you what year and model to look at.

2.2 max if it will be ordered, every penny to begin using the car is included.

Start from simple to hard. Honda or Toyota.

Which one and what year?

HeavenlyBang:

You shouldn't be buying an Infiniti at all. Get the IS250. RWD.

Why recommend this and what year are we talking about?

You guys are doing marvelously here and may God continue to bless you.

If you must do an Infiniti sedan, go for the first gen Infiniti g35 05/06

Infiniti isn't a must but which would you recommend similar to this?

I replied your PM. First car? With all due respect the Infiniti M35 isn't for you. I don't have any other thing to say. No doubt I'd like to sell, but I'd rather you go for the G35

hmmm. Thanks for the honest response, some don't care. They just want to sell, could you pls further buttress your points and why you think the G35 would be much better for me at this state? thanks once again

What about availability, price and sales of parts? Availability of experienced mechanics? Resale value?

cc heavenlybang he would give you a good low down. I just know you can use the M35 as an everyday car if you don't mind the fuel economy especially during traffic

Thanks man. Heavenlybang you got mail.

It uses same engine as the early G35 and identical stats with Maxima the M is heavier, the VQ would find it easier to pull the G35 and Maxima than the M, later on the G35 had a newer Engine with 7speed instead of 5 speed transmission.

The car has no general problem, the car resale value isn't poor but too many competition so selling may take a while, fuel consumption is above average but better than SUVs

Aite sounds good. What are the other things you think i need to know? Note that i might not ask you some questions because it's my first and not too conversant with cars, so you could use your experience and expertise to relay them to my understanding. Pls i hope you understand this line

M35 06-08 was powered by the ever reliable VQ35DE and 5speed automatic 280hp, expect your trashing in multiple folds from the G series and the V6 Maxima grin, it's a reliable engine with smiles per gallon , superb interior finish and top grade luxurious finish in the interior. What more can a man ask for

thanks for your usual quick response, however could you break down this line further "expect your trashing in multiple folds from the G series and the V6 Maxima" ? You didn't answer me regarding the problems of the car, resale value, fuel consumption and other things i need to know. Don't forget it's my first one.

i was going t there on a little vacation so i made my plan to buy the car there, i bought the car myself from a dealership, contacted a shipping agent and they towed it to the port in new jersey. I picked it up in lagos, cost of shipping from new york to new jersey was $300 and $1000 for shipping.

Wow.. It's easier buying yourself than online which i intend doing but it cost about the same amount to ship 2006-2007 cars too? How much was clearing and other things did cost you?
Car Talk / Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by zer0day: 10:46pm On Aug 04, 2019
king406:
yes the IS is rather small in size but so is majority of the competition. I got it shipped from abroad.

Could you give me the steps you took?
Car Talk / Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by zer0day: 8:00pm On Aug 04, 2019
HeavenlyBang:

Correct. An IS250 would be, by far, the best option. Low cost maintenance, not excessively fast, and still all-around an excellent car.

thanks for your inputs. However, the IS250 looks kinda small on the inside but these features you listed really matches. Did you buy your GS35 locally or abroad? How much did it cost you?
Car Talk / Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by zer0day: 7:50pm On Aug 04, 2019
king406:
i have no complaints whatsoever with the IS but mine is a 2012 model. Most important thing you’ve mentioned is that one of these cars will be ur first car. I dont know your financial capacity, but that is a huge factor in making ur decision between the IS350 and the G35, including your knowledge about cars. These are more sophisticated vehicles than your average corolla, especially the G35. They are not economical vehicles whatsoever and i believe you’ve heard how expensive the IS350 engine is incase it fails, put that in mind. If you drive a lot, be ready to spend a lot on fuel. I advice you take a look at IS250, to me, it makes more sense for a first time user.

thanks for the input.. The interior of the IS250 looks pretty small and more like a 4 passengers car. By the way, did you buy yours locally or shipped from abroad?

Direct your question to heavenlybang he uses the G35

king406 uses the IS350 they would answer all your questions.

G35 17L/100km city and 12L/100km highway

ES350 13L/100km city and 9L/100km highway

IS350 11L/100km city and 8L/100km highway

This are manufacturer fuel economy stats

thanks bro.. kind406 pls kindly get here oo abi madam no allow u come online today as per weekend nah

07-2010 have Aux, definitely.

Octane boosters help improve quality of fuel. Nigerian fuel is bad.

In terms of fuel consumption, probably AN SUV like the Acura MDX. Also the LX470 should be similar.

Parts are available but not as available as the ES350. ES is very very popular and shares parts with the Camry Muscle V6, so it shouldn't be that surprising.

I don't see anything particularly complex about this car's mechanical aspect. Just be sure to keep to factory standards, especially with the electrical parts.

Have you used the Aux before with your phone and it worked? How do you arrange the Octane boosters?

The fuel consumption seems to be on the high side, but how would it fare for 3-4 times a week outing with it and not too much long distances? I don't intend driving it everyday.

Nurey just updated me you drive this beast
Car Talk / Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by zer0day: 5:26pm On Aug 04, 2019
nurey:

parts are available, fuel consumption is higher than the ES and IS though you get good Smiles per gallon

What popular cars you compare the fuel consumption with? Can one easily find mechanics to fix it
Car Talk / Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by zer0day: 5:23pm On Aug 04, 2019
HeavenlyBang:

There's Aux, though? There are two RCA ports in the center console storage that you can use as an Aux. That's what I use.

I know someone who gets 18mpg with octane boosters. Without boosters, expect 12mpg. Also, G parts aren't as available as ES ones.

what version of G35 is yours? Reviews online said it's missing Aux so you can't connect your phone to it to listen to music. I'm not pretty vast with car terminologies, i understand 18mpg is miles per gallon but inclusion of octane boosters is kind of confusing. Could you break it down.

Also, what regular and popular cars in Nigeria can you compare the fuel consumption of the car with? Does that mean i can't easily get the parts? What about the ready availability of mechanics in case of fixing?

The ES350 is mix between both other competitors I would give it a pass mark in the build quality segment, cargo space and ease of maintenance

The G35 is a luxurious sports sedan a single trim with the necessary and capable bells and whistles. The VQ35HR would ensure you stay ahead of the competition in a celebration and quarter mile, not the most fuel friendly of the lot but a reliable engine non the less if we'll taken care of. This vehicle is a head Turner in any gathering of luxurious and the coupe packs a wicked punch. I will pick this to paint the town red everyday of the week grin

The Lexus IS350 is a sports luxurious sedan, compact in the seating and cargo area, low ground hanging to give it that balance when racing fitted with the most expensive engine in your choice. reliable also with good build quality.

Whatever choice you make, as long as you buy a well maintained vehicle you will be fine.

Is the fuel consumption of the G35 that much compared to ES 350? Also what about the availability of parts and fixing of the car incase of any problems.
Car Talk / Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by zer0day: 2:52pm On Aug 04, 2019
HeavenlyBang:

Important to note that the three cars have plenty of differences.

ES350 is FWD luxury cruiser. Meant for comfort.
The G35 is a raw sports sedan, albeit also well equipped in terms of Luxury.
The IS is in-between the two.

I have a few threads on the G35, since I own one. You'd do well to check them out.

- Cargo space in the IS is poor.
- IS engine is expensive
- ES350 is the most comfortable, cheapest to maintain, and most popular
- G35 is a fuel guzzler, and the closest thing to a sports car you'll get within that price segment.

If you're a young bachelor, G35 definitely. There's just something about it. wink

I'm leaning towards the G35 because it isn't as popular as the ES350 and feature packed yet cheaper. It's even rated ahead of the ES350 but the fuel consumption and lack of aux input are deal breakers. lastly, this is my first ride
