I prefer my own country men to take over the country than any foreigner to step foot in my country.
Boko Haram, ISWAP or whatever they call themselves these days cannot take over Nigeria as long as we have a standing Army. If they could they would have done it since.
They can't even take a single state in the North, talk more of the whole country.
We should give our Military guys credit. They are working hard and we must support them. this country is already goneeee |

WriterNig: All of a sudden they care about killings in Nigeria. Something that have been going on for more than a decade.
And you don't ask why?
The same people that cannot protect their own citizens from mass shootings wants to protect you from Boko Haram?
This is why Africa was colonized with ease. Low self esteem individuals. U prefer herdsmen to take over Nigeria completely by way of terror rather than have USA save the country? |

It is about curbing impunity. It is not right that soldiers drive around with tinted glass when it is against the law nobody is above the law or when their just seize/rob people's boots and camo gear. They must be made to respect and comport to civil authorities and society in accordance with modern best international practice not the outdated military acts placed by politically exposed military leadership |

bdon123: U are ignorant....jst imagine if civilians can give order to soldiers without going tru chain of command. There no where in d world where military men on duty anywhere take orders frm civilians without going tru chain of command in other places in the world soldiers don't come out of their baracks to harass civilians or get involved in civilian matters or even government, FYI the military and police induction oath is very similar. But the military being exposed to politics and have ensured that legislation positions the profession to be elevated beyond its ideal societal role as seen in other countries. Nobody has ever said civilians will give orders to military ,,,,,,civilians do not even give order to police or other paramilitary institutions, even as they are all in the same boat (bear arms) but the others respect themselves when confronted by civilian authority. |

After the new bill, will the police be sent to arrest a major general in order for him to be persecuted in court? Goodluck with that. Wait for the end game, the officer has ushered in much desired reforms backed by enforceable laws that will put our military at par with USA standards. A step in the right direction ... A notable move from the jungle mentality highlighted by the conduct of that officer towards wike, this is long over due, military has no reason to be in uniform in civil society intimidating civilians, seizing /stealing boots and apparel and calling them bloody. Overdue decades ago. |

This is all shades of wrong and that commandant must be held accountable for his actions. U all are indeed driven by a total lack of knowledge and wicked bias. One retired soldier used more than Six Fully ARMED members of the NIGERIA NAVY to intimidate and threaten government officials over his undocumented private property and u applauded the illegality, but here u r crucifying someone who is still in active service and has been falsly accused of using one official vehicle for private business without proof. |

otomatic: The soldier in uniform represents the sovereignty of the state and by extension symbolises the powers of the CinC.
Only the CinC can order that soldier to stand down because he is the ultimate power in the chain. The minister, powerful as he may appear, is not in that chain and cannot override any soldier's orders.
All this talk of private assignment/property, yet the military hierarchy is in agreement that he was on lawful duty.
When an army chief retires and is given a small detachment, what do you think it is for? Apart from his personal security, he can assign them to any other duties from time to time. only a certain group act with this sort of impunity and defend it. Obj a retired general , military head of state and democratic president does not conduct himself in this manner , he even begged wike to assist him with land issues. Same applies to pioneer retired general Theophilus danjuma also I can tell u with all confidence that a young southern or Christian officer will never challenge a serving minister. Impunity is detrimental to progressive society |

AMINDA: The C-in-C title neither be transferred nor delegated. There's only one GCFR. Executive and international functions of the president can be delegated but not his authority as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Nothing will happen. The FCDA already took their bulldozers out of the site. Tinubu knows better than to have an appointee gain victory over his armed forces, even if symbolic or for the optics. private property of a retired or serving military personnel is not state property don't be confused |
