The search for the eighth Gulder Ultimate Hero is just around the corner, this time the show would be anchored by popular actor Bob Manuel Udokwu and R&B singer Darey Art Alade.

Yusuf Ageni, Corporate Affairs Adviser, NB Plc, said the choice of two hosts for GUS 8, as against one anchor person, is part of the new concept of GUS.

Yusuf Ageni further added: “As we have said, 30 contestants will compete for the grand prize in GUS 8. The new course that GUS will be charting this year, the fun and excitement which we anticipate that it will generate, necessitated our choice for two anchormen this year,”.

The theme for this year’s GUS is Contest of Champions and it will be held at the Egbetua Quarters, Ososo Mountains in Akoko Edo, Edo State. The ultimate man of the search is expected to walk home with a cash prize of N7 million, an SUV worth N10 million and N500,000 wardrobe allowance.

Meanwhile registration for the search ends this Friday and there is a foreclosure of any extension to the deadline, according to Ita Bassey, Senior Brand Manager, Gulder.

“We are impressed by the number of Nigerians who have signed up to be a part of this year’s event. The number keeps growing by the day. It tells me that Nigerians are eager about this year’s GUS, which is the eighth in the series,” Bassey said.

The kidnappers of Micheal Obi, father of Chelsea Midfielder John Mikel Obi, have made contact with the family. The abductors made this contact through a phone call telling the family that Mikel's father had been taking out of Jos. They told Mikel's mother not to bother looking for the man in Jos because he had been taken to Lagos.

Just a few hours later, a second call came in, telling the family the location of the car which Mr. Obi was driving when he was kidnapped.

"Some people called my mum informing her that they have her husband in custody," Ebele Obi, Mikel's elder brother, said. "My mum, while crying, pleaded with the abductors to release her husband. They asked her to go and look for money but declined to state how much. But we have heard our father's voice. At least we now know that he is alive. The family is happy, relieved but still we plead with the abductors to release our father."

Tony Obi, Mr. Obi's eldest son, said: "We got two calls from the abductors who confirmed that our father is in their custody. They told me where to locate my dad's car, which has been found, but I do not want to disclose the location for now."

Mikel Obi had this to say: “All I can say is the country I’m from, Nigeria, I’ve always tried to help the country in every way that I can, playing for the country, serving the country,” Mikel told Britain’s Sky Sports News television.

Naija's popular actor Ramsey Nouah almost got himself killed while trying out a stunt in a movie being shot in Kumasi Ghana.
Too much of watching action movies probably got into his head, and he missed the part of "PLS DONT TRY THIS AT HOME". Sources say that Ramsey Nouah crash-landed on a concrete floor when he fell from a building whilst trying a stunt on the movie set. Oga Ramsey, you want to be Jackie Chan? Use your head oh. Na "lover boy" we take sabi you oh.

Though official medical reports are not yet available, it is feared the actor might have suffered internal bleeding as he reportedly complained of acute waist pains while medics attended to his blood-filled mouth. He actually got back to his feet in like 30 minutes and continued the video shot. Money can make you forget your pain I tell you.

No detailed news is available yet as rumours fill in the gaps suggesting that Ramsey Nouah may have been moved out of town to Accra for further treatment.

Yeap! You gat me right, Hilda Dokubo is back on the movie screens. Nollywood actress Hilda Dokubo has returned in a new movie titled STIGMA.

She stars in the movie alongside Ghanaian actress Jackie Appiah, and Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike. Also appearing in the movie are Clem Ohameze, Ngozi Nwosu, and Soibifa Dokubo.

Stigma is a movie produced and directed by Dagogo Diminas, a Nollywood film-maker for the Rivers State Ministry of Health, as its major campaign strategy against the stigmatization of HIV/AIDS victims and their relatives in Rivers State and Nigeria at large.

The director said that the movie is presently being edited in South Africa. Plans are being made for the movie to be premiered in Abuja, Port Harcourt and Lagos. Stigma is a culturally rich movie that chronicles the stigmatization of HIV/AIDS victims and their relatives in Nigerian society.

For 28 ladies last weekend in Lagos, it was an "E DON RED" situation. The Lagos State Taskforce on Environment and Offenses (Enforcement) Unit arrested 28 suspected Pros-titutes. These babes where further sent to prison by the Special Offences Court sitting in Alausa, Ikeja in Lagos, South West Nigeria.

The arrest was made by the taskforce when the suspects 'bin dey demo for road' at Adeola Hopewell in Victoria Island.

The taskforce had swoop on them in the night unannounced and brought them to the taskforce headquarters at Alausa where they were detained and later arraigned at the special court. The presiding magistrate ordered that they be remanded in Kirikiri Prison pending further hearing of their case which comes up on Thursday.

The suspected Pros-titutes had earlier pleaded not guilty to the offense they were being charged with.

When the taskforce Chairman was contacted, Bayo Sulaiman said that the suspected Pros-titutes had been constituting nuisance in the area and that residents of the area had been complaining bitterly about them.

“We raided them because we want to make the environment friendly because they cause nuisance to the society.

“Moreover, there are children living in these areas and it is also a highbrow area too. This is not the first time we are embarking on this kind of raid; it is a continuous exercise,” he stated.

According to him, “if they want to Pros-titutes, they should go to brothel and not expose their bodies outside the streets in these areas. Because Victoria Island is a highbrow area, we have lots of expatriates there"

Black Eyed Peas Star, will.I.Am narrowly escaped death as fire broke-out at the London Hilton Hotel situated at 22, Park Lane, London around 7:46PM on Saturday, July 2, 2011.

The fire which reportedly broke out in the kitchen at around 6:40PM, later spread to the basement and the second floor. Even though Will.i.am was lodged in a suite on the 28th floor, security officials weren’t taking risks. The hit producer along with 1,500 other guests were evacuated from the building.

He and his crew were scheduled to perform later that evening at the Wireless Festival, a few blocks away from Hyde Park and The Buckingham Palace.

Earlier that day, several entertainers including Liza Minelli, rapper Tinie Tempah, singer Annie Lennox and rockers Status Quo were in the hotel for the Nordoff Robbins Silver Clef charity Awards.

The London Hilton Hotel which was recently renovated in 2010 has 453 rooms and was built in 1963.

Against the backdrop of unconfirmed reports that Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) acts pop star Wizkid and rapper Skales were last month denied entry visas into the United States, the label yesterday issued a statement announcing that the proposed EME North America tour will still hold this summer.

It had been announced a few months back that the trio were planning to kick start a ‘worldwide tour’ outside Nigeria that would kick off on Friday, June 24, 2011 at Lincoln Theatre in Washington, DC with headline performances from Skales, Wizzy and label boss Banky W. But rumours surfaced around town and like wild fire it spread – it was said that Wizkid and Skales were both denied US visas thereby putting a temporary full stop to the scheduled American tour.

Banky W said in the statement ‘actually, the tour was earlier scheduled to begin in Washington DC on June 24’. ‘But due to certain circumstances, we have had to step back to work on a couple of elements necessary to deliver the best experience for our fans’.

No one from the label was willing to give details of these ‘certain circumstances’ when our reporters enquired. And our request to interview Wizkid has been pending for at least one month.

‘We know our fans in the US are waiting. And we apologise profusely, with a promise that this tour will be worth the wait. Our promoters have put in a lot of hard work, and we’re working with so many professionals in different cities to ensure everything goes well.

‘I want to assure all those who have bought tickets already that we’re on; we’re coming for real; and it’s only a matter of weeks before we hit ‘God’s own Country…’

The EME boys will be looking to put up brilliant performances at the various venues. The tour cities have also been altered as the acts won’t be performing at Washington as earlier stated on the EME website.

Cities to be covered, according to an official guide released by EME, include New York City, Atlanta GA, Houston TX, Detroit MI, Chicago IL, Minneapolis MN, Boston MA, Dallas TX, Detroit MI and San Jose CA. These and other details are listed on the EME website www.empireworldorder.com

The EME tour, the label says, is in conjunction with the top Nigerian and African promoters in each city and will include big venue concerts, select club gigs, road stops, TV and radio performances as well as extended media visits.

According to the label CEO Segun Demuren, the US tour is the first of many EME tours to come: ‘Coming on the heels on a successful album launch concert for Wizkid, we’re moving on to the next step which is to ensure we deliver the best concert experience for our fans all over the world. Fox News has apparently fallen victim to hacking, with its politics Twitter feed repeatedly announcing President Barack Obama had been shot dead.

@foxnewspolitics began tweeting the information to its 33,000 followers at about 2am local time, with the posts rapidly being shared around the internet.

The rogue tweets appeared to begin after the account sent a message saying Fox had just "regained full access to our Twitter account".

The following tweets all related to the supposed death of Obama, with some posts being very specific about the president's injuries.

"@BarackObama has just passed. The President is dead. A sad 4th of July, indeed. President Barack Obama is dead," came the first tweet. The string of messages continued:

"@BarackObama has just passed. Nearly 45 minutes ago, he was shot twice in the lower pelvic area and in the neck; shooter unknown. Bled out", and then: "@BarackObama shot twice at a Ross' restaurant in Iowa while campaigning. RIP Obama, best regards to the Obama family."

Whatever the hoaxer's identity, they do not appear to have been entirely web-savvy. The first three posts revealing the president's death were directed to the @BarackObama Twitter feed, meaning only those following both accounts would have seen the messages.

The unknown tweeter appeared to realise the error of their ways, switching tack to post three more tweets that would have been seen by all followers:

"#ObamaDead, it's a sad 4th of July. RT to support the late president's family, and RIP. The shooter will be found;

"BREAKING NEWS: President @BarackObama assassinated, 2 gunshot wounds have proved too much. It's a sad 4th for #america. #obamadead RIP;

"We wish @joebiden the best of luck as our new President of the United States. In such a time of madness, there's light at the end of tunnel."

Fox News was not immediately available for comment.

Pop diva, Omawumi Megbele, has confirmed news going around the blogosphere since the morning of Saturday on her delivery of a baby girl in United States. The vibe started after her status update this morning: “A child is God’s reward – Psalm 127:3b. Welcome sweetie,” accompanied by an ‘It’s a girl’ display picture.

“I’m so excited I have delivered,” she announced in a statement from her public relations representatives. “It’s always fulfilling for me when I achieve a milestone in my life.”

The “pretty bundle of joy” was delivered at Rockdale Medical Center in Atlanta.
Speculation about Ms. Megbele’s pregnancy had reached fever pitch from as early as January, as media and other observers pointed to a bulge in her smash hit video “If you ask me” as well as her cover shoot for Genevieve magazine, however Omawumi continued her tradition of keeping her personal life private until absolutely necessary – preferring to take care of the unborn child away from the media glare.

“You know the whole story that once you deliver all the pain goes away,” she added in the statement, “That’s a lie! But when I heard her cry and held her in my arms, I felt so thankful and in awe of God’s awesomeness!”

Don Jazzy: "Sometime in November last year, D'Banj and the crew went for a wedding that had a lot of celebrities and artists in Dubai. And when they finished performing, they were set to come back to Lagos. At the airport, D'Banj was mistaken for Kanye West because of his dressing and swagger, especially the taxi drivers who were displaying their placards with different inscriptions indicating their love and support for Kanye.

They rushed at D'Banj and shouted Mr. Kanye West, we love your music. He however made them realise he was not kanye but a singer from Nigeria. After the drama, D'Banj sensed that Kanye West was being expected at the airport which explained why thedrivers were waiting for his arrival, so they decided to wait to see if they could talk to him.

When Kanye arrived, a member of D'Banj's entourage, Mr Bankole approached Kanye West in a very respectful manner and introduced himself as D'Banj's manager, one of the greatest artists in Africa and Kanye was willing to listen to what they had to say. D'Banj introduced himself and showered accolades on Kanye West. He played him some of his songs on ipad and told him he just finished an international collaboration with Snoop Dogg.
