The ventures Platform Foundation has launched the startup North East incubation program. This is a 4-month entrepreneurship program designed to help startups solve prevailing problems that affect aid distribution and data management in the NorthEast.

This project seeks to identify and support innovative and technology-focused startups whose activities can create solutions to the problems in north east Nigeria, and especially address gaps in areas of aid distribution and data management.
Successful participants will be supported to deploy their applications to increase the availability of solutions that will support community, government and donor initiatives in rebuilding the region.

We’re happy to announce that Digital Explorers has extended applications for its second cohort to run till 22nd November 2020. The female-only cohort will select up to 15 female Data Analysts and Data Scientists at entry-level who will undergo 6 months paid traineeship in Lithuania consisting of intensive training and placement at a Lithuanian company.

The aim of this project is to contribute to closing the global tech gender gap by offering successful participants the opportunity to advance their careers through a tailored Data Analysis/Science training and a paid traineeship in selected Lithuanian ICT companies. At the end of the 6 months programme, participants will return to Nigeria and to their jobs better equipped to achieve your organisation’s objectives.
Digital Explorers is a career advancement program designed to harness the potential of Nigeria’s digital talents and create further opportunities for growth. It is a knowledge exchange initiative between 2 buzzing ICT markets – Nigeria and Lithuania – striving to lead the ICT revolution in their respective parts of the world.

The Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, has announced former Super Eagles captain, Kanu Nwankwo, as his newly appointed Senior Special Assistant on sports matters.

In a statement issued by the governor’s aide on new media, Izuchukwu Akwarandu, Ihedioha appointed him on Wednesday at the Government House in Owerri during Kanu's visit.

The statement read “The governor, Emeka Ihedioha, received one of the country’s football legends, Kanu Nwankwo, at the Government House, Owerri,  on August 14, 2019.”

President Muhammadu Buhari has signed the Nigerian Correctional Service Bill into law on Wednesday, August 14, 2019.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Ita Enang, disclosed this to State House correspondent in Abuja on Wednesday. 

The Act repeals the Nigerian Prisons Service Act.

Henceforth, the Nigerian Prisons Service will now be called the Nigerian Correctional Service.

The bail request by a former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Prof Maurice Iwu over alleged fraud of N1.23bn has been set at N1bn with two sureties in like sum.

One of the sureties, according to Justice Chuka Obiozor, who ruled on the bail application on Friday, said, must own a landed property in Lagos while the other must be a professor or a civil servant not below Grade Level 16.



The judge said both sureties must furnish the court with the statement of their bank accounts, showing a minimum balance of N1bn.

The sureties are also to submit their recent passport photographs.

In addition, Iwu was ordered to deposit his passport with the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court.

The former INEC chairman will be remanded until he meets the bail condition, the judge ordered.

While moving Iwu’s bail application on Friday, his lawyer, Mr Ahmed Raji (SAN), urged the judge to admit his client to bail in liberal terms but the EFCC vehemently opposed the bail application.



The EFCC counsel, Oyedepo, told the judge that Iwu might likely interfere with the witnesses assembled to testify in the case as they were INEC officials with whom he had worked closely.
