obembet: I think many of us have come across some really funny or unusual names that make you pause and wonder what they actually mean.
Back in university, I had a friend whose name was Nigeria. The first time I met him and he told me his name, I was like, “Haaaaa!” 😄 I thought that was the strangest name I’d ever heard until I travelled to the South-South and started hearing names like Natural, President, Government, Manager, Ajalekoko, and more.
I’m sure these names have meaningful stories behind them for the people who bear them.
So tell me what’s the weirdest name you’ve ever heard?

TenQ: 1. Fallen Angels are Angels that fell from Grace during or after Satan's Rebellion.
2. Demons are the spirits of Nephilims (Human-Angel Hybrid). The Nephilims were neither Human nor Angels. Gen 6:4
When Humans die, they go the place of the dead called Sheol consisting of two parts 1. The Place where Abraham is (Abraham's Bosom) 2. Hell (where the rich man is
Note: 1. There is nowhere prepared for the Souls of Nephilims: thus they wander about the surface of the earth seeking habitation. Matthew 12:43 2. Because the Souls/Spirits of Nephilims used to be flesh and blood, they find solace in dwelling in living being/Humans. 3. Angels are complete by themselves. They do not need to INHABIT anyone to feel complete. 4. On the average, Demons are of low intelligence and power compared to even fallen Angels 5. Fallen Angels are in charge of Nations and Cities (Principalities and Powers) and they usually don't directly mess with humans unlike Demons. E.g. Prince of Persia Daniel 10:13
Jesus calls Demons Unclean Spirits probably because they are an unholy hybrid not directly created by God. Wonderful! But these demons are same ones in hell with the devil, right? |

fergie001: PRESS STATEMENT FROM THE FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE ABUJA
CLARIFICATION ON RECENT EVENTS REGARDING THE CASE OF LATE IFUNANYA LUCY NWANGENE
We wish to address the circulating discussion on social media concerning the unfortunate case of Ms. Ifunanya Lucy Nwagene, who tragically passed away due to neurotoxic complications following a snake bite on January 31, 2026.
First and foremost, we express our deepest condolences to the Nwagene family during this incredibly difficult time. The loss of a loved one is never easy, and our thoughts are with them.
We want to clarify that the management team at Federal Medical Centre, Abuja acted promptly and with the utmost care upon Ms. Nwagene's arrival. Our medical staff provided immediate and appropriate treatment, including resuscitation efforts, intravenous fluids, intranasal oxygen, and the administration of polyvalent snake antivenom.
After a thorough but quick evaluation, it was clear that Ms. Nwagene suffered severe neurotoxic complications from the snake bite. Despite all efforts to stabilize her condition and transfer her to the Intensive Care Unit for further treatment, she experienced a sudden deterioration just before the transfer. Our team of professionals worked diligently to provide CPR and other life-saving measures; however, despite these efforts, we were unable to revive her.
We stand by the quality of care and dedication our team demonstrates daily. The claims of non-availability of anti-snake venom and inadequate response are unfounded and do not reflect the reality of the situation. We are committed to transparency and integrity in our practices and will continue to pursue excellence in patient care.
In light of these events, we encourage our community to engage with credible sources for information and updates rather than relying on social media speculation. We remain available for any further inquiries or clarifications.
Thank you for your understanding.
DR. BIOKU MUFTAU, HEAD OF CLINICAL SERVICES FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE, ABUJA 1st February 2026. Chai, may her soul RIP, Amen. |

Episode22: Hello Nairalanders,
Please, I’ll keep this brief and straight to the point.
I need honest opinions and practical advice. Can someone realistically survive in Nigeria on a daily income of $10?. I work from home.
If no, please explain why.
If yes, I’d appreciate a clear strategy—how to manage it, possible business ideas, and how one could grow beyond that income level.
For context, I currently earn $10 daily online from my blog, and on some days $13.
If this income is not sustainable in the long run, I genuinely want to know so I can plan better and make informed decisions.
Constructive advice only, please.
Moderators, kindly assist with visibility. Thank you. If you ain't the extravagant type, I think you can survive with that. Then try and set up a business for your wife. With this, you guys should be okay. |

Family › Re: Help, How Should I Handle This Family Secret? by Zinpat: 11:02am On Dec 26, 2025 |
Kcash200: Hi guys,
I have a problem i have been dealing with since i was 12. I am from a large family and when i was 12, my mum told me my Dad is not my biological father and for me to make it a secret. I did not know what to do with such an information at that age but i knew it was wrong but i couldnt talk so i am not the one who destroys the family. Everyone lives in peace but i always wonder what will happen if only they know the truth. My biological father has other children and some of them know me that i am outside. He was involved in my life financially from 12years as far as i am aware of. He sent me money then and i kept quiet too and also supported me financially a couple of times though we have no personal relationship asides 2-3mins phone calls here and there and it is been like that for years.
I know my biological father and we kept in touch while i was in secondary school. Now that i am an adult now, i feel really sad about the whole thing and sometimes i even cry on my bed. I have been living in secret and a double life and fearing i might be outed one day. Some people in my mother's family are aware which is very strange and i find it shameful as a man now but i did not choose my fate. I have always tried to forget it and just leave my life but it is always just there especially when i think about starting my own family. I am striving hard for it not to define the way i see marriage and life as i am trying to write a different story for myself.
I grew up with my father who is not my biological father and i have been a good son to him as well and still taking care of him but it bothers that my whole life is a lie and it is hard knowing what i know and i can't say anything as that will scatter the family. I met some girls from a very good home who i can marry but i am scared if i tell her or other girls, that her parent will not let me marry her with that secret.
I am scared of getting married publicly as someone can take the news to my biological father as i do not intend to invite him as my biological father but i always feel heavy anytime i think about it. I want to start a new life for myself but i don't know how to handle this. I do not plan to tell my father as he is getting old and this can kill him at his old age as he has been through a lot in life. He is finally enjoying and i am taking care of him very well and he prays for me all the time.
I am building a good life for myself as a professional and have a lot of girls around me but i don't know what to do. Should i keep quiet and tell the girl i marry after marriage ? Isn't that me building my marriage on deceit. It is a shameful thing to talk about if you look at it.
Sometimes, i feel like they caused me trauma putting me in this position but i am an adult now and will bear responsibility for how i live my life and cant continue to blame any trauma or anyone. I am the one who has to keep quiet for peace to reign in the family.
I don't want to wait too long just incase it is a dealbreaker for someone but i also don't want to be disclosing to anyone.
Aside from marriage, i still do not know what to do with that information. A hard one though. But here's my suggestion. Tell yourself and accept that you have two fathers. Let the one you live with know the truth (but assure him you are not going to leave him), of course after discussing thoroughly with your mum. Then try and convince your biological father that the man you grew up with will stand as the father figure during your marriage. My humble suggestion ✌️ |
