OP The criticism that Atiku gave came from Soludo who was working with him (Atiku) at that time. Atiku himself does not know jack. |

And on what basis do you compare her with Ngozi when you are the only one who know her? You want to b ethe judge and the jury at the same time? You expect me to participate in such a comparison? Well, I put it to you that you are lying. There is no such person as you claim. Thank you |

ekt_bear: a) I doubt the rate at which PhDs get tenure track positions is 50% b) She didn't get a job "somewhere", but at a very famous school ranked pretty high on the list in her field. What is the significance of "few work in WB"? Obviously that doesn't say anything about selectivity or difficulty of landing the position. Based on what? Being a prof of econ at Harvard requires you to have a very strong research record. Does she have any publications in major econ journals? If not, then no, she cannot get hired as a prof at Harvard. You realize Harvard econ has giants like Mankiw there, yes? You can look him up and see if you think she stacks up against him (she doesn't.) And not everyone who wants can get.
Here is Ngozi's background, per Wikipedia:This girl I know did her undergrad at a top undergrad and a top econ grad school, both comparable in caliber to the above institutions. I won't mention the names of them to protect privacy (but no doubt you'll hear of her sometime in the next few years and remember this forum post ) Her resume at the same point in their respective careers stacks up just as well. Actually, she has another feather in her cap that very few US undergrads get period. But I won't bother mentioning it, because saying it will also make her easy to find
In short, she is a badass. What is her name? We cannot compare Ngozi with an unknown name. Abi she no get name? |

ekt_bear: By Ngozis, you mean economists with PhDs from top schools? I actually met one in February. A young woman who will be taking up a faculty position at a pretty famous school in the US. I guess she is actually a bit better, since she was good enough to get this tenure-track faculty position. Something to my knowledge Ngozi did not do
I'm very proud of her. She will hopefully be an asset to Nigeria (or Yorubaland, if naija scatters) at some point in the near future. Incidentally, she is kind of cute too, lol.
With that said, I don't think this sort of thing is popular amongst women or Nigerian women. So it is very rare to meet 'em. Almost every other person with a Ph.D. gets a tenure track position somewhere; but few work in WB and become an MD. If Ngozi felt like being a prof at Harvard, she would be. Not everyone wants to be, get that? I'll have you also know that she is also the president (or so) of African University of Science and Technology (Nelson Mandela University) in Abuja, catering to the West and Central African sub-regions. Look it up to see the quality of Faculty of that University. BTW, what is the name of the one you met? Let's vet her credentials vis-a-vis Ngozi or Oby or Arunmah. I can use some googling this morning. |

Negro_Ntns: Where are the Ngozi's of the SW? Show me one and I will climb the moon.
ZnO,
When women in Nigeria were hidden behind curtains by their husbands in the North and were not allowed to come out.
When women in the East was still wearing grass for skirt and walked around bare chested. When women in America were still too frightened to demand liberation.
Sisi Eko in the West was publishing articles and getting on airwave in Ibadan to organize political rallies and demand justice for women suffrage, right to vote, right to earn wages and equitable treatment under labor laws.
Women like Tinubu, Kuti, Kofo-Abayomi. . . . They were trailblazers and pioneered the rights that Ngozi is able to enjoy today. I join you in rejoicing her accomplishments and while this is your first of such greatness in the women gender, Yoruba has been there, done that and don't need the worship! Thank you very much!! Who the frigging hell are Tinubu and Kofo Abayomi? What did they study, what degrees do they have, where did they work, who are they? Were they ministers or World Bank (or Yoruba Bank ) MDs? Okay! Just been told here by Bimbo that they were some SW Lagos market women leaders (iya olojas). lol Did you not hear of Aba women riot? Or of Magareth Ekpo (Igbo woman married in Calabar, after whom the Calabar International Airport was named)? Not Just Ngozi, there are for e.g., Oby Ezekwesili (World Bank VP) and Arunma Oteh (who was African Development Bank VP until she was appointed by GEJ recently to head the SEC) Where are your modern women? Lookia ma friend, no annoy me this night |

Remii: Atiku already said the same about the budjet last year. When he stated that spending 70% on recurrent expenses was not good for development, Aganga and other politicians shut him down, I think dem go listen to Okonjo now. Soludo wrote the report that Atiku talked about. Soludo was then working with Atiku as a potential VP candidate. |

Pukkah: Your post makes a lot of sense and you've raised a number of crucial issues: Aganga's performance, indigenes vs settlers, the availability of his old job or even another one, and most importantly Aganga's guts.
The same reason why he recorded a lack-lustre performance may why he lacks the spine to walk away based on the issues you raised. Thanks Atiku just lambasted him |

Show me one muslim state where there has not been a fight with people of other faith? In Ibadan muslim students went on rampage recently, attacking christians because of what they claimed one christian female student (Yoruba) did In Lagos, it is the same story It is merely a matter of scale of disturbance between southern muslims and the northern ones One thing holds them in common: violence, on the basis of religion. |
