Thats as good as it gets, it was my innovation, so i decided to get a patent for it and start producing, first for kwara state govt, then to other states, but because i graduated with a 3rd class my sch did not giv me all the support i needed, but to God be the glory, i m in china now, with a collaboratory patent on my design suported by the chinese govt.

Na today i have even red 100 secret of success, at the end of the day no manifestation because of the wrong economy we find ourself,
alabiyemmy: Ten secrets of success.

1. How You Think is Everything.
Always be positive. Think Success, not Failure. Beware of a negative environment.
This trait has to be one of the most important in the entire list. Your belief that you can accomplish your goals has to be unwavering. The moment you say to yourself “I can’t…”, then you won’t. I was always given the advice “never say I can’t” and I’d like to strike those words from the dictionary.
I’ve found that from time-to-time my attitude waivers. A mentor of mine once said “it’s ok to visit pity city, but you can’t stay and there comes a time when you need to leave”. Positive things happen to positive people.

2. Decide upon Your True Dreams and Goals: Write down your specific goals and develop a plan to reach them.
Write down my dreams and goals? Develop a plan to reach them? You mean like a project plan? Yes, that’s exactly what this means. You may have heard the old adage: A New Years resolution that isn’t written down is just a dream, and dreams are not goals.
Goals are those concrete, measurable stepping stones of achievement that track your progress towards your dreams. My goal is to start a second career as a freelance writer – what are your goals?

3. Take Action. Goals are nothing without action.
Be like Nike and “Just do it”. I took action by reaching out and started writing. Every day I try to take some action towards my goals. It may be small, but it’s still an action. Have you taken action towards your goals?

4. Never Stop Learning: Go back to school or read books. Get training & acquire skills.
Becoming a life long learner would benefit us all and is something we should instill in our kids. It’s funny that once you’re out of school you realize how enjoyable learning can be. What have you learned today?

5. Be Persistent and Work Hard: Success is a marathon, not a sprint. Never give up.
I think every story of success I read entails long hard hours of work. There is no getting around this and there is no free lunch. But, if you’re working towards something that you’re passionate about, something you love – then is it really work?

6. Learn to Analyze Details: Get all the facts, all the input. Learn from your mistakes.
I think you have to strike a balance between getting all the facts and making a decision with incomplete data – both are traits of successful people. Spend time gathering details, but don’t catch ‘analysis paralysis’.

7. Focus Your Time And Money: Don’t let other people or things distract you.
Remain laser focused on your goals and surround yourself with positive people that believe in you. Don’t be distracted by the naysayer’s or tasks that are not helping you achieve your goals.

8. Don’t Be Afraid To Innovate: Be different. Following the herd is a sure way to mediocrity.
Follow through on that break-out idea you have. Ask yourself “What would I do if I wasn’t afraid?”

9. Deal And Communicate With People Effectively: No person is an island. Learn to understand and motivate others.
Successful people develop and nurture a network and they only do that by treating people openly, fairly and many times firmly. There is nothing wrong about being firm – just don’t cross the a-hole line. How do you deal with people?

10. Be Honest And Dependable: Take responsibility, otherwise numbers 1 – 9 won’t matter.
Enough said.

excel123: WHAT MATTERS IS YOUR SOUL AT THE END.

He that commits sin is of the devil, I John 3:8 (I John 3:cool. If you are into lying, cheating, bitterness, keeping malice, pride, manifesting anger, quarreling, unforgiveness, hatred, envy, contention, strife, bitterness, speaking evil of others, taking or giving bribe, selfishness, deception, kidnapping, smuggling, falsification of documents, swearing, extortion and other sinful character dispositions, you must repent.
Such evil and wicked character will hinder the manifestation of abundant blessings upon your life. Whatever be the area of your sin, you must repent and make amends. Are you into idolatry, do you make or use charms, rituals, bow down to images, do you rob or steal? Are you into cultism, whether open or secret cult? Do you practice witchcraft? Do you smoke cigarette or hemp? Do you sell them or offer them to people? Do you smoke or sniff hard drugs such as cocaine, heroin, captain black, hashish or other banned drugs or snuff? Are you lusting - lusting after men or women, covetous, alcohol drinking? You must repent and give your life to Jesus Christ.

Nonesense!

I would rather agree with having educational system that cares for technological advancement than bringing up people who are so much concerned about money (the money conscious individuals). We are mainly educated to serve our community, not to make money. I think most Nigerians are missing what education is actually all about in this regard!

Nigeria: Definition: A System Designed For Total Failure.

Dont get me wrong. You could still be a Millionaire at 24, and yet be a failure, eg: if you made your money from fraud, prostitution, etc.

The OP made alot of sense: how many Nigerians are living their dreams? How many leverages are around us? The only leverage you could find could only come from family...and nothing more!

We all know things wont be the way it is if Seun for example was an American. And I like most of you wont be where we are if we were Americans.

But the good thing is this: atleast, this failed generations have given us the youths so much challenges that would bring us to untold greatness. It just wont be easy....but becoming a millionaire, and an agent of change isnt impossible. If those before BRF havent performed woefully, do you think anyone would even take notice of his works? (please, this isnt about BRF, so how you interprete this is your ish).

@OP: Man, you wrote a crispy piece, but see, there is a great difference between "education" and "schooling". And one more thing, no matter the amount of talent or information or knowledge you possess, you will never be great unless you change how you see things. Thats why people like GEJ will FAIL no matter! Because, on a closer look, all you see is just another Nigerian! A product of the same failed system, not someone who has discovered himself. Anyways, I love Nigeria, and would never have wished to be created anywhere else in the world. I long made this peace with myself, and right now, Im learning to ignore all this insanity, and find meaning within the midst of the hurricane. And life isnt about what you got, its about what you do with what you got. All the best!

Thank you. What I did was to start with an office job for which I worked for three years, during which I saved 800,000 naira since no one would consider giving me a loan without collateral.
Using my capital, I then started out supplying laptops to people who would pay within two to three months... Started slow, but has grown with time.
I am really grateful to God...

So finally U came home to roost! U had an idea: U needed finance: U worked to raise some finance for 5yrs: U r self sufficient. Now tell how will U have gone about it without the capital? Since we don't get loans!

rozayx5: the day our youths and Graduates stop blaming the Government for being where they are, thats the day the y will start progressing, the Government does not stop you from doing Business it is just your mindset, and as for all those talking about environment, look for a better excuse, cause in the East being a millionaire at 24 is no big news, cause they are creative, its the lazy people that where expecting to become billinaires after graduation that blame the Government,
Schools will always train you to be employed, even Harvard Business school.

the same environment you cant make it, other are making it, so look in wards shocked shocked shocked

explore your talents cool

Mr. Millionaire at 21, could U be so kind as to outline ur steps to ur millions as others have? U mentioned the east, I believe U know that U need to serve for a number of years and come to think of it theses people are into buying and selling or replicating not innovating.

obyrich: My man your 'flawless' command of the English language makes your assertion dubitable! Come off your dreamland professor of Economics. When you attain age 30 and you are yet to gain admission to study that your dream course- ECONOMICS, you will then learn to be serious when a burning fundamental issue like this is being discussed. Keep dreaming.

hold it mate. where did you get such bogus info from. In the UK this what happened:First, the Great Reform Bill removed the Sovereign from the election process and the choice of Prime Minister.

second, the Bill reduced the Lords' power by eliminating many of their pocket boroughs and creating new ones where they had no influence. Weakened, they were unable to prevent the passage of more comprehensive electoral reforms in 1867, 1884, 1918 and 1928 when universal equal suffrage was achieved. confused you can be a prime minister by the age of 18 in the uk.

Now why on earth must I wait till thirty to gain an admission for a simple course like economics . Your funny wink

look in the UK people study economics in six form mate (year 12) I do not know what you call it in Nigeria because im born and breed in the UK but I have a strong Nigerian background.

but I don't blame you smiley

No mind these private jet pastor followers and opportunists who are talking about reading one motivational book or something..
Youths in a country like nigeria should be talking about correcting what our fathers have failed in rather than boasting about being millionaires at 21 outta their parents cakes or fraud.
How does a pauper raise funds for his project when he has nothing and there is not even electricity to encourage the innovator..till Nigerian youth turn to realism, we will continue in this "it can never be better with governance" era
Private jet owned pastors will tell u "you can make it outta nothing if you believe in God"..what is reality there and what has the same man contributed to his immediate society other than flying alone and not even noticing the harsh world around him..warren buffet dosen't even have a private jet.

So its actually a crime for a Nigerian to make a million at 24? Wow! I think the earlier we stop blaming government and take our destinies in our own hands, praying that whatever God we serve will crown our efforts the better for us! No one should set limitations for him/herself! And no one should accept limitations too!

alabiyemmy:

I dont think any school system in the world teaches innovation or creativeness. Ask Bill Gates, ask the guys at Google or even ask Mark himself.

How can any Nigerian youth be innovative when an average youth believes he cant do anything worthwhile with himself unless he travels abroad, or unless he has someone in high places. with such minds, how can they be innovative or creative?

However, it is wrong on the part of the writer to conclude that no Nigerian youth can be a millionaire at the age of 24 legitimately - such conclusions further brings down the psyche of the youth when they are being told by those who should know better that they cant succeed.

Most will blame it on leadership - but then, is it the government that will make you broaden your mind to see endless possibilities laid before you? I like the writer to read books on success and succeeding in life. It has nothing to do with age but on how you are able to use your mind.

With such assumptions above, an average youth is already consigned to a never do well thought process. Guys, you can make it if you want.
The guy didn't say that dreaming big is the problem or that Nigerian youth don't dream. Of course we dream big but according to @post, "the Nigerian society appears not to be very dream-friendly in terms of helping her youths and the entire citizenry aspire to become the very best they can be."
@post
I totally agree with this "as you grow older, life becomes less about achieving your dreams and more about making your dreams fit into reality" cos that's exactly the Nigerian situation. Great piece!

Yea, I made a million naira at 21 cos I worked, and I'm still working.

I wasn't born with any kinda spoon, but I worked hard. I cried day and night, you have no idea. The least I could do was become a tout or get married. People set limitations for me, no one even believed I will go to school cos my parents couldn't get me pass JSS 3. But I broke their limitations, God favoured me and shut their mouths!

My kid brother is not only a millionaire, he is also building a little house and he is 21. He is a pipeline welder and he will definitely go to school just like I did.

So pls, snap out of that mentality, it kills.
