Kogi State Police
Command yesterday
arrested and paraded an
80-year-old man, Momoh
Rapheal along with 14
others for different robbery cases. Other suspects paraded
by the command
yesterday are Saka Isah,
Illiyasu Danjuma,
Momoh Sani Danga, Idris
Alhaji, Aliyu Fatai, Adamu Umar, Abdullahi
Adamu and
Ikechuckwu Godfrey. Parading the suspects at
the State police
Headquarter, the State
Commissioner for Police,
Muhammed Kastina said
the 80-year-old man along with five others,
Oluwaseun Ikupeleye,
Saliyu Mumuni, Ayodele
Adeyemi, Kayode
Matthew and Ajibade
Silas were responsible for snatching a royal
father’s and a local
government public
relation officer vehicles. According to the CP, the
5 man gang on 24th
December, 2012 attacked
and dispossessed a royal
father, Chief Akin
Obamero of Okedayo Kabba of his N900, 000
and two handsets and
also attacked Hon. Ayo
Kayode, the PRO of
Kabba/bunu Local
Government and dispossessed him of his
Honda car with
registration number BP
177 FKJ, the sum of N16,
000 and two handsets. Kastina said the Police
Special Ambush Squad
working on intelligence
report apprehended the
gang which confessed to
be in partner with the 80-year-old man who
serves as the gang’s
armourer, custodian and
suppliers of arms and
ammunition. Momoh Rapheal, it was
further explained,
specializes in selling the
arms and ammunition
which he purchases
from Ibadan, Oyo state to the gang. Two members of the
gang were ex – convicts
recently release from
jail. Oluwaseun
Ikupeleye was recently
release on bail and standing trial on criminal
conspiracy and armed
robbery while Mumuni
Salihu was convicted for
rape but was granted
amnesty. One of the robbers,
Ikechukwu Godfrey
from Porthacourt who
was arrested with a
stolen Golf car with
registration number AN 749 RUM while on transit
in the State said he was
prompted by “spirit” to
indulge in crime. Items recovered from
the armed robbers are
one AK47 rifles, one
double barrel short gun,
three single barrel guns,
five pistols, fifty six 7.62 mm ammunitions, 14 life
cartridges, charms, six
handsets, Honda accord
saloon car, Vento golf
car, one boxer
motorcycle, TV set, DVD player, mattresses,
DSTV decoder Stereo set
