Hmm nice question that the new e C of O did not address.
I went for an inspection yesterday, and I was greeted by these hoodlums, wrapping their usual weeds. When I think of my immediate neighborhood, I begin to have a second thought about the property, despite the assurance of the agent that no cause for alarm.

Does anyone know the minimum requirement clearance between a property and a high tension power line?

I've been processing/waiting for mine to be out almost a year now. Does this also mean that any C of O approved this year even if it was applied for last year will be the electronic type?

We that have the old c of o, are we expected to turn in our old paper one for the new one and how much are we xpected to pay for the replacement. Thanks

I wanted to talk our security, though you have mentioned it, however, I wish to know how the government tend to protect the document from being tempered with by the so called ministry staffers. Because manipulation begins usually right from their office.
So, in my opinion, if biometric(finger print, and other) could be included, it will be better.

The first major change is the change in the type of paper used in printing the new c of o. The bogus A3 size paper has been discarded and replaced with a user-friendly secure A4 paper that enables automated processing of the C of O. The electronic Certificate of Occupancy (e-C of O) includes state of the art security features that makes it extremely difficult to be cloned or forged using current technology.

The second major change is that the clauses and contents of the e-C of O have also been revised to take cognisance of current trends and development while ensuring compliance with relevant laws.

The third major change is the Survey Plan. This will entail converting the Digital Maps (from the GIS database) into As-built Survey Plans. The term As-built survey plans, means that the survey plans will show the building lines as well as the boundary lines (fences) of each plot, it will essentially reflect what is existing physically on ground. Furthermore, the survey plans on Government schemes will now be electronically signed by the Surveyor General of Lagos State. This is necessary as a result of the automated system of processing the e-C of O.

The fourth major change is the streamlining and automation of the procedure for processing C of O’s. Where all variables are constant and provided all the necessary documentations are in order and all fees are paid as at when due.

The fifth major change is that a transaction page has been added to the C of O, which is an element of the Land Certificate of old. The transaction page will list all the transactions and encumbrances that have taken place on the land in question, and will be inside the body of the C of O just like the Land Certificate. This enables one to immediate determine the history of the land in question.

The sixth major change is that there will be an encrypted enhanced 2D bar code on the C of O. The barcode is an additional security feature from the processing system and will appear on the C of o after it has been printed. The barcode will also contain security information that can only be viewed with an enabled barcode reader.

So for those of you looking forward to obtaining that C of O for your land, things are going to be made much much easier for you.
