Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has challenged his side to pick themselves up from Saturday's defeat at West Ham ahead of a "massive" week for the club.

The Reds fell to back-to-back Premier League defeats against the Hammers. And with a Merseyside derby following Tuesday's League Cup tie at Middlesbrough, Rodgers wants a rapid return to winning ways.

"We've got a massive game in the cup in the week and then an even bigger game next week when we play the derby," Rodgers said. "We need to refocus now and look to get back to winning again."

In stark contrast to the Reds, Boro have won their last three Championship matches, a run that boss Aitor Karanka wants to see continue at Anfield.

"The most important thing is that we keep going in this way and win games," Karanka said. "We have won three in a row now, we have another on Tuesday and we have to keep looking at the following game."
