Ooni approves dates for Olojo festival

THE Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse II, has approved the dates for the celebration of the Olojo festival of the ancient town of Ile-Ife, Osun State.

This was contained in a press release signed and made available to the Nigerian Tribune, by the monarch’s Public Relations Manager, Funmilola Olorunnisola, on Sunday.

The monarch said that the yearly festival would commence on Monday, November 16, after due consultations with the relevant and appropriate traditional quarters.

The release said that the monarch would also be incommunicado for a period of five days while other relevant traditional activities would precede the grand finale, the day the monarch would put on the legendary aare crown on Saturday, November 21.

The monarch used the opportunity to appeal to all Nigerians, especially the tourists to avail themselves of the opportunity of the yearly traditional festival to showcase the cultural heritage of the area.
